I have problems with my 4th generation IPod Touch for a while.
First, it was no longer recognized by Windows or by ITunes and yet il worked fine forabout 2 week.... it is beyond comprehension!! Ican no longer use ITunes... not pratical!! I'm actively looking for solutions.
I finally solved the problem of recognition with Windows, with the help of Apple. Now, I still have the problem of recognition with which ITunes still does not work. When I open ITunes, a warning message telling me to restore my IPod.
My fear is losing my music but also some conversations, my bookmarks, my pictures and my apps and data entered in them. I would lose nothing, find my IPod as it's now after the restoration.
Is it possible to not lose its data during a restore?? If so, how?? Is ICloud does the work??
Is it really necessary to restore my IPod?? Do you think this would solve my problem really??

J'ai des problèmes avec mon Ipod touch 4e génération depuis un bon moment.
Tout d'abord, il n'était plus reconnu par Windows ni par ITunes et pourtant il a bien fonctionné durant environ 2 semaines... c'est à n'y rien comprendre!! Je ne peux donc plus utiliser ITunes... pas pratique!! Je suis donc en recherche active de solutions.
J'ai finalement résolu le problème de reconnaissance avec Windows, avec l'aide Apple. Maintenant, il me reste le problème de reconnaissance avec ITunes, qui ne fonctionne toujours pas. Lorsque j'ouvre ITunes, un message d'alerte me dit de restaurer mon IPod. Ma crainte est de perdre ma musique mais surtout certaines conversations, mes signets, mes photos ainsi que mes applications et les données entrées dans ces dernières. J'aimerais ne rien perdre, retrouver mon IPod comme il est maintenant après la restauration.
Y a-t'il une façon de ne pas perdre ses données lors d'une restauration?? Si oui comment?? Est-ce que ICloud fait le travail??
Est-ce vraiment nécessaire de restaurer mon IPod?? Croyez-vous que ça règlerait vraiment mon problème??
Pouvez-vous m'aidez svp???

You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."

Thanks for answerIf you go to Apple, they will not replace your battery, but exchange your iPod for a refurbished iPod of the same model with a new battery. Therefore you will lose everything that is not backed up. If you change it yourself or have a third party change it, you will most likely not lose anything (but still best to make a backup as lllaass suggested).

I did an update on my ipad and now I have to restore it but it says I will lose everything How can I get my pictures on there before I restore my ipad to factory settings?
They will be gone from the iphone, but you should be syning all contacts to your computer regularly and should be importing all pics to your computer regularly, particularly before any update.

If you have to restore, yes everything will be erased from your iPhone. If you have a backup, you can put that backup after the restore.

OK, we don't have the whole story, but it is likely that you previously synced the phone to a different computer. The iPhone can only be synced to one computer at a time; if you change computers the contents of the new computer will replace the contents of the old computer.
If you restore with backup (assuming the computer you are using has a current backup) you will not lose any app content. If you restore as new you can then add music and apps, but you will lose everything else in your backup. -

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion. USe your backup copy to put everything on the new computer, then sync.

Bonjour! Hier en après-midi j'ai essayé de restaurer mon Ipod Touch à partir de ce dernier, et non pas par Itunes. Il était écrit que cela pouvait prendre jusqu'à une heure. Mais le problème est que le Ipod se restaure, ensuite il se redémarre et lorsqu'il est de nouveau ouvert, il recommence la restauration! J'ai essayé de le laisser de vider de ses batteries, mais lorsque je l'ai de nouveau branché dans mon ordinateur, il a tout simplement recommencer, encore, la restauration! Je l'ai donc laissé restauter toute la nuit, mais cela ne s'arrête pas! Que dois-je faire??

i tunes will not update it says before i open itunes it wasent installed correctly but i dont want to lose everything i have how do i fix this?
It looks like you may have to reinstall itunes.
There are multiple things you should uninstall (and in a certain order) according to apple.
Also, even thought your music and itunes library information should not be affected in the uninstall, I would strongly recomend backing it up. Go to where you keep your music files and make sure you back up everything in the folders "itunes" and "itunes music".
The directions for the reinstall are here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925 They include what to uninstall and in what order. This is for itunes 9 and earlier, but I think it is the same for itunes 10. -
I was trying to create a playlist to add to a second ipod I have and save my library of my other ipod and hopefully transfer between the two or organize additional playlist between the two. What I did was erase both and and back at point zero. lost everything. Tried to follow directions but I'm too stupid. Used the 'New play list" wrong i think and I know where original files are but no directions as to get it back. Its supposed to be a simple function of ipod bet not so!
An iTunes playlist can only contain songs that are in the same iTunes library as the playlist. There is neither a manual nor a scripted way to create an iTunes playlist that contains songs that are not in the library.
So, to do what you want, you would need to create a single consolidated library with all the music, and then create playlists off of that. Since your current drive is "chock a block full," the best way to do this will be to spend $50-$100 and get an external hard drive for iTunes. -
when i plug my ipod shuffle 4th generation in a box pops up and says the right files for this ipod isnt on the system?? sooo i re downloaded itunes and it still doesnt work soo i deleted it all and eredownloaded itunes all up to date and it still doesnt ! any help please
What was the exact error message you received? When you removed and re-installed iTunes, did you use the precise instructions in this Apple support document to walk you through the process?

I have just done a custom run on my Ipod touch 2nd Gen of 12k. When I finished the run is appearing in my run history on my iPod touch, however it is not appearing in my itunes 'Nike+' tab, or on the Nike + website. I can't seem to get this run to sync and it is really annoying because I'll be loosing 12k. Can anyone help or has experienced this before? I know there are solutions to add runs to iPod nano's and older iPods using the 'Enable disk' and iPod_control function however from what I'm aware you cannot do this on an iPod touch. Can anyone please help?

They would only be where you put them. What program did you use to import them? Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all. You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.
