Restoring a db without an existing odbc connection

Hey all,
I'm looking for a way to restore a db as the first db in an
application I have written. The app normally restores DBs as a way
of automatically creating new sites, but if this is a new box and
code determines the main manager DB doesn't exist, how does one
restore a DB... without an existing ODBC to connect to the DB
server through? I'm talking specifically about SQL Server on
Win2003.
Any advice?

Ok. I gave up on trying to restore through code. Did it
manually and have what I think is a working DB, but I cannot
connect through CF
Connection verification failed for data source: NemoManager
java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC
Driver]Error establishing socket. Connection refused: connect
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException:
[Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]Error establishing socket.
Connection refused: connect
Any ideas? Do I have to update Java or something? Sorry, I'm
a little dense when it comes to server stuff and Java.
Windows 2003 Server Enterprise
MS SQL Server 2005

  • How can i restore old backup without deleting my existing data

how can i restore old backup without deleting my existing data. unfortunately i have deleted few of my old photos and restored them from my old backup. i got the deleted photos but lost my recent data and photos. how can i get those too.

You cannot. However, if your back up is through iTunes on your computer and you do an internet search for something like "iPhone BackUpExtractor", I believe there is software that will help you access the SQL database that is your back up. You may be able to pull out what you need.
Once you restore from a back up, any data that was on the phone is gone.

  • How to share and Access DB (.accdb) with global tables that link to SQL Server tables without having to define ODBC connections on each client PC?

I have an Access DB with quite a few Linked Tables that point to a SQL Server backend db.  Currently I am using an ODBC connection defined on my pc, but I want other users to be able to download the .accdb file from a share and run.  Will I have
to define this odbc connection on each client's pc?  Is there a better way to do this without having to have each client manually set this up on their PC?

    Hi Jason,
I think you can automate that process. In each application I use a one-record-table in the FE with a field Connected. Connected is default False.
Starting a database in the development mode ignores this flag. Starting a database in production mode starts, if Not Connected, a procedure to RefreshLink the tables to the BE, and makes Connected = TRUE, so a next startup does not
    result in a new RefreshLink.
Instead of a Boolean you could also use a string containing the path, or whatever you want.

  • Can I make Oracle/Microsoft Odbc connection without TNS service???

    Hi All,
I want to make ADODB connection to oracle 10g database. For this currently I am using odbc connection, which requires TNS service setup in my pc. Hence I need to install Oracle client on my pc as well. Which requires license.
So is there any alternative, with which I can make my ADODB connection without TNS service implementation. Or any inputs on this will do for me. Only the thing is i need some freeware with which i can do this.
    Thnx,
    kc

    Hi,
Well I think you might have landed in the wrong forum.
This forum is for the Oracle Call Interface (OCI) which is a C programming interface to Oracle.
Your question doesn't look to be about that unless I am misreading it.
Perhaps you are looking for the Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) downloads?
These include client software in addition to the various data access components on Windows.
    ODAC is located here:

  • Connection to PAT address without pre-existing xlate

    Hello Experts,
We recently migrated to ASA 9.1.5 from ASA 8.6. Everything worked well except static object NAT. Let me make you understand with an example.
My inside host 10.12.7.93 is not able to do name resolution from 8.8.8.8. or 8.8.4.4.
    object network 10-12-7-93

     nat (INSIDE,OUTSIDE) static 199.96.217.225

Packet capture command output is shown below.

What i have observed is that there is a policy pat for destinations 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for some inside hosts. Not that 10.12.7.93. What can be the issue? is it some bug in ASA 9.1.5? Your suggestions and comments will be really appreciated.

    Karthik,
First of all thank you for the kind consideration.
I will test it without object NAT today and will share the result with you. I am pretty sure it will work that way. The issue is that it was all working well while using 8.6. We have production running and there are 40-50 object NATs running. I cannot afford to add all of them in NAT section 1. Cause this does not make any sense.Since the dynamic PAT is in section 3 and object NAT in section 2. So technically since my traffic matches in section 2 . It should implement that NAT instead of staying in NAT section 3.This is the NAT which is causing conflicts. But this is NAT section 3 and my object NAT for the host is in section 2.
    nat (INSIDE,OUTSIDE) after-auto source dynamic LOWER-SEGMENT x.x.x.x destination static DNS-SERVERS DNS-SERVERS service DNS-TCP DNS-TCP
    nat (INSIDE,OUTSIDE) after-auto source dynamic LOWER-SEGMENT x.x.x.x destination static DNS-SERVERS DNS-SERVERS service DNS-UDP DNS-UDP
LOWER-SEGMENT: Tthis object group carries the subnet 10.12.7.0/24
While my section 2 NAT is
    object network 10-12-7-93
     nat (INSIDE,OUTSIDE) static y.y.y.y

  • How to restore Ipod database without iTunes?

My iPod mini is visible to any aplication except iTunes. I have tried all it sugested on the manuals to fix it and nothing worked.
Others applications like RealPlayer and Anapod can see that the iPod is connect but can´t show its content. RealPlayer says that the database file doesn´t exist or is corrupted.
The only way I can see my files is accessing the iPod-Control directory using windows.
If I disconect it from the Pc I can´t see the musics that are on it.
I have made a copy of the songs that were on it and now I want to know how to restore it without use iTunes, because nothing makes iTunes see it.
Is there any update link that still work on apple website, so I don´t need to use iTunes?
I need to restore my iPod without iTunes because unistall, check register, restarts,... did not work.
The only way I can see the iPod is runing the diadnosis under the help menu. Nothing have worked to make it be showed as device.

  • Hi, i am trying to open and view a report that comes from another server with different odbc connection

hi, i am trying to open and view a report that comes from another server with different odbc connection
i created a crystal report for a mysql database on my machine and everything works great
but we have other reports that come from other machines with different odbc connection
and this its not working when opens the report asks for credentials
and i cannot use the remote ip for these reports that come from other machine
    question
if i cannot connect to remote ip to open the report
for each report i have to create a database the report database on my machine and then open the report ?
or there is some other way to open the report ?
i am using visual studio 2013 and mysql and
       <add key="MYSQLODBCDRIVER" value="{MySQL ODBC 5.3 UNICODE Driver}"/>
    thanks

i have a report that it was created on another server with a specific dsn
now i am trying to open the report on my machine

  • Not seeing all DB tables in Crystal using ODBC connection

I have an ODBC connection to an oracle database.  I can connect to the database and see all the tables through tools such as TOAD, SQL developer, SQLPlus, etc.  However, in Crystal, i only see schema tables and not the tables I want.  I am using the same connection, username, and password.  If I run a report that was created in a different environment to the correct tables, I receive the error: ORA00942: table or view does not exist.
    Oracle 10g
    Crystal 12.0.0.683
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Diana Woronuk

    Hi Diana,
Go to File | Options and open the Database tab.
Make sure Tables and Views are checked.  You may want to include Stored Procedures too.
Save the changes and restart Crystal.
You should see your tables now.  If you have more than 200 objects in your database, you may need to use the Table Name Like option to filter out some of the tables.
    Good luck,
    Brian

  • My ipod needs to be restored but it only stays on the "connect to itunes" for approximately 20 seconds and then turns black as if it is turned off.

So a couple of months ago, I had to restore my new IPOD 5 TOUCH because i had forgotten the password and disabled it, so as you can imagine I am quite familiar with restoring it.
(The last time I had synced it was the only time that I had to restore it when I first got it when I had disabled it)
This morning I wanted to sync my ipod. So I plugged my ipod into my WINDOWS computer and waited for itunes to open, and it did just like it is supposed to. It then said itunes needed the latest update so i continued with updating it. Itunes updated, but then said that my ipod needed the latest software. I said "ok update" and thats when itunes made my ipod into DFU mode without me even touching it.
SOOOO as you can imagine I was quite upset. I then have realized that because Itunes had moved it into DFU mode on its own, I could not manually get my ipod out of DFU mode so the only thing i was left to do was go ahead and restore it.  (correct me if Im wrong)
My huge issue right now is that my ipod NEEDS to be restored, but it only stays on the "connect to itunes" screen for approximatley 20 seconds and then turns black as if it has been turned off. When I plug it into my computer and turn it on to the "connect to itunes" mode, it does open it in itunes and starts "extracting sofftware" but then when it turns black after 20 seconds, it closes out because my computer thinks it has turned off.
I have tried charging it, and nothing has progressed. Im not sure if anything can be done for it right now, or if I could bring it to an apple store to fix it... it's brand new about 3 months old.
HELP and some advice would be greatly appreciated  !
    Thanks!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Hi,
I'm updating a UDO in SBO 9. PL11 by GeneralService via DI API

  • Slow/non-existent data connection on 3GS/iOS 4.0.1

I have been a happy 3GS user since last December. About three days ago, I synced to iTunes and installed the latest software update, to iOS v4.0.2. Since then, whenever I try to access any web page in Safari, it just sits there for a while trying to access the page before eventually coming up with a message that it was unable to access the web page "because the server stopped responding". The same happens if I try to use the data connection via another app (e.g. Facebook). I should add that everything works fine if I connect via WiFi.
I did manage to get on the web yesterday evening when I was in a city centre area with five bars of 3G signal strength, but even then it took ages to load a web page. I have always had between about two and four bars of signal strength at home, and this has always been sufficient to load web pages reasonably quickly.
I usually use the 3G data connection several times a day, and have never experienced this problem until now. I've just got off the phone with O2 technical support – they asked me first to reset network settings and then reset all settings, but neither of these made any difference. They left me with two suggestions: go to an o2 store and ask them to try my SIM card in a different handset (I don't have much faith in this working), or do a factory reset/restore via iTunes. I'm loathe to do this unless absolutely necessary, as I guess it means losing all my data and having to resync everything from scratch.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Any suggestions other than what the o2 guy said? Is there any way I can get back to 4.0.1, which worked fine?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

Wow, our responses are starting to get long.

It's a pity he didn't (or wouldn't) change the SIM. It probably took him longer to explain to you that he didn't need to test the SIM that it would have take to set up a new SIM and test it.
So unfortunately, you still don't know for certain that it's not a SIM issue.
I agree it's a pity. I really wanted to be eliminate this as a possible cause, but I couldn't make the guy do it.
Maybe try another store, or do it over the phone and get them to send you one out?
I did a full restore – and incidentally discovered that the backup I made before applying the 4.0.2 OS update was not available to restore – I'm guessing it may have been corrupted or something. So I've had to revert to a backup that was saved in June, which is a bit of a pain. Anyway, the restore has changed nothing in terms of connectivity – with 3 bars of 3G signal, no web page will load – I just get the spinner in the status bar at the top of the screen, and eventually a message saying that the server has stopped responding.
Did you restore to 'new' or tried to the backup? You need to try it to 'new' as this erases all previous settings.
I restored it to the backup. I guess I need to restore it to new – which is a pain because it means I then have to manually reset any settings for mail accounts, etc.
You need the restore to 'new' so you have a clean phone, test in internet connection with nothing added and see what happens.
Personally I don't particularly like the way iTunes backs up. It's probably fine when this are all good, but when testing or trying to fix issues, I find it a bit limited.
    All the Backups on your Mac go to this location;
    /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The issue I have with it is that in the backup folder, some of the files are overwritten each time that a backup occurs, making only the last backup available for restoring.
Yes, I find that pretty annoying to. I've just lost two months' worth of text message history because of it.
My work around for this is to copy the complete backup folder then in the copied folder I open the Info.plist file with TextEdit and edit the Device Name string by adding the date. When you then open iTunes and try to restore from backup, multiple backups are displayed.
You said you copy the entire folder before editing the Info.plist file. I presume you put the copied folder in the same location as the original?
In the backup folder, there is a folder with a big long alphanumeric name. Make a duplicate of this and leave it in the backup folder, so there is the original folder and copy of original folder. then edit the info file in the duplicate.
Once done, open itunes without the phone connected and go to iTunes > Preferences > devices and you should see your extra backup appear in the list there.
When you edit the info file change the following line:
    +<key>Display Name</key>+
    + <string>[robgrayson]’s iPhone 20100511</string>+
I add a date at the end of the line. This line is then displayed in iTunes as the name of the backup
I also set iTunes to not automatically sync when the iphone is connected. This give the control back to me of when and how often I backup.
Yes, I changed this setting yesterday too.
Do you use Time Machine to back up your Mac? If so, you could restore the backup location on your Mac to before you did the restore and bring back you most recent backup that way.
Yes, I do use TM – I've been using it for a couple of years but have never actually had to restore anything. Just to be clear, I suppose you mean restore the backup folder from before I did the iOS upgrade, and then restore my phone from that?
How about this: if I do a restore from new first and see if that makes any improvement, do I then have an option of applying a dated backup (or would I have to go through the whole restore process again in order to do so)?
Yes, Navigate to the backup folder location, open time machine and restore to yesterday or when ever the last back was.
Duplicate the backup as above as a precaution.
Check iTunes recognises it. (make sure iTunes is closed when you are adjusting the backup files.
Restore to 'new' and check the phone. If it all is OK and working, its probably something in the backup and you don't want it back on your phone, and you will have to manually restore everything.
So unfortunately, you don't seem to be any closer to resolving the issue. Let us know if you want any more help, or alternately how you go with Apple.
I may try restoring from a previous backup via Time Machine, as you suggested. (This should also give me back my lost text messages.) There are also rumours that iOS 4.1 will be released today, so I may give that a try first.
Thanks once again for your very helpful suggestions.
If I were you, I would try to get the phone working before you worry about 4.1

  • Can a SQL view see data from an ODBC connection?

Hi. I currently have an application that pulls data from a custom SQL view in my SQL database. This custom application can not be changed, so it expects to see the data exactly as presented by my custom SQL view. This works fine
when the data resides in SQL, but I am not sure if it is possible when the data resides outside of SQL. I’d like to connect to another type of database via an ODBC connection from my SQL database, and still utilize my custom SQL view. I would prefer to NOT
use the SQL database as a warehouse, and simply use it to pass data.
Is this possible? Thank you for reading.

    Hi Robet,
According to your description, you want to create view in SQL Server to pass data from OBDC database to custom application, right?
In this case, we can create linked server to access an ODBC database when you are using an ODBC data source. Linked servers can use the OLE DB Provider for ODBC without using an ODBC data source. You can refer to the link below to see the details.

  • Visio Database Wizard fails - ODBC connection to MS SQL

When I try to create an ODBC connection in Visio's 2010's Database wizard I get the error: "Cannot set the database context information. Additional error information:ODBC Error: s1009. Database cxweba does not exist."
Note that the database name is cxwebapp_bkk. I get the same error if I connect to any database on that server, and it always truncates the name in the error message (if that is a hint to the error).
Using Visio 2013, after connecting to the database: when I select the database object I get the error message:  "The selected table has only one field or contains no definition information. The Database Wizard requires a minimum of one key field
    and one additional data field."
I have this problem using both SQL Server driver (6.02.9200.116384 and SQL Server Native Client 11.0 (2011.1102.2100.60).
I do not have this problem connecting to a MYSQL database with either version of Visio, nor do I have this problem when I link link to the same SQL database in a drawing and link shapes in that drawing using the "Link Data to Shapes" under the
    Data tab.

    Hello,
What's the version of the SQL Server instance you connect to? It seems that the Database Wizard in Visio 2010 not work well with the Microsoft SQL Server ODBC driver. Did you try to use the Generic OLEDB Provider for SQL Server?

  • IOS 8 lockscreen keyboard does not let me input characters with accent marks. My password has an accent mark. I can't restore the device without unlocking it and turning off find my iPod. What can I even do here?

I do have a third party keyboard installed (fleksy), and I removed english and emoji from the keyboards list in settings before rebooting the ipod. When it booted up, it asked for my device password with the default keyboard, but I can't type any letters with accent marks, so I can't enter the password. I figured I could fix this by restoring a backup and changing my password, but I can't restore a backup without turning off Find My iPod - which of course requires me to unlock the device with the device password, which I can't do. Am I stuck here? Is there anything at all that I can do?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
