Restoring to a new iphone with my own pc, possible??
Hi! im on a trip with my old iphone 3gs (and without my pc) and i just bought an iphone 5. is it possible to restore my iphone 3gs data to the iphone 5 with out my pc and itunes??? thanks!!
Look, Apple designed iPhone 5 to be used without a computer, and the fact is millions of users, around the world, use it that way with zero issues...they update, restore, etc.
Yes, you can do this without a computer...are there risks? Of course there are. Make sure you have a fast Internet connection...make sure there aren't any firewalls or other software to block stuff...if unsure, go to an Apple store. They will do this for you.
You can re-download all iTunes purchased content, except ringtones, for free. So, you can restore all of your apps, etc.

when you start using iCloud on any iOS device and enable find my iPhone, this prevents a new user from using it, and also prevents anyone from using the phone
as it is locked to previous owners account ,this is also the case if when a phone is lost or stolen.
the only way around this is to have the previous owner reset their apple id by going to @ applied.apple.com
if they are unable to do this, then the only other way around this is to have the previous owner get a copy of their original receipt and call apple support who can then lift this lock if they get a copy of the receipt

I shared my itunes account with my daughter for many years while she had only an ipod. She now has her own iphone with her own itunes account. Is it possible to transfer the purchases she made on my account over to her new itunes account?
No. Purchase always remain with the account they were purchased with.

Question: when I activate my new AUS iphone which option should I choose - new phone or restore from backup? I would like to have all my contacts, email, etc. however wasn't sure that option was appropriate since it is a different/new number and a new phone.

My brother gifted me iphone-4 which was in his use, he has no music, videos even not much photos. But he has much contacts and messages also messages on viber.
I made backup by iTune and also copied the backup folder from mobilesync from my computer. the backup is just only about 256MB.
If i email him this backup folder or give on flash drive, Can he restore on his new iphone-4 or iphone-5 ?
please advice me in this regard that the itune backup include contacts & messages and can be restored on new mobile with another computer.

Thanks for the question, and congratulations on the iPhone gift.
It sounds like you are doing everything correct, however I suggest that you backup your iPhone, and restore his iPhone with the backup at the same time (instead of emailing). The backup file is probably too big to email to your brother. You could also use iCloud to accomplish this:

Purchased music not able to use as ringtones after restoring to a new iPhone, how do I fix this?
As the title says my purchased music is no longer available to use as ringtone/text tones after restoring to a new iPhone. I restored it from a iPhone 5 to another iPhone 5 after some technical problems, nothing dealing with apps or music. Can anyone help me?

my last iphone was stolen and i got a new one (4s). i accidently connected it to my itunes already and didn't know i was supposed to use the backup when it popped up. does anybody know how do i sync this new iphone with the backup of my last one?
Find your device in the iTunes window, Right click>Restore From Backup, then select which one you want

I just tried to sync my wife's new Iphone with "my" ITunes. Bad mistake!! I guess "my" itunes thought her phone was mine and "somehow" went into "restore" mode and basically turned "her" phone into mine - ie. contacts, photos, etc.
Can your have two phones one Itunes?? Or should I just open a new Itunes account on her computer and "start" from scratch?? If I do the later, how do I transfer all the music on "my" Itunes to hers???You can sync as many iphone/ipads/ipods as you like to one computer/library.

My daughter's iPad is backing up to my iCloud, which is how we set it up originally. Now she has her own iPhone with her own iCloud. How can I get her iPad to back up to her own iCloud? Her iPad is taking up 3.4MB of my 5MB. I need my space back!

Yes, that's correct, it won't affect your account or your devices in any way.
Use the delete account button in the iCloud settings.
Then enter her iCloud details in the new screen that appears and log in. She should then be returned to the screen above but with her Apple ID at the top, enable the services she wishes to use and then tap the storage & backup option and ensure that iCloud backup is turned on.

Can you merge Iphone data from a new iphone with an old back up?
I am looking for some advice.
I recently had my my iPhone and my MacBook Pro stolen at the same time. Fortunately I managed to get a new iPhone on my insurance which I received before I bought myself a new MacBook. I resorted my MacBook from a back up I kept separately. I wan't to sync my new iPhone with my previous iPhone data held on my iTunes. I would like to do this without loosing the SMS messages, apps and data held on my current iPhone. The other issue is that my new iPhone has a newer version of iOS then my previous iPhone.
Is it simply a case of just plugging my phone into iTunes and it will automatically sync the data and merge them or will I have to so something else to merge the two accounts?

JamieSorry, you can't do what you want. The restore from backup process is all or nothing. Yes, you can restore from your previous phone's backup, but you will lose all new data...not in that backup...currently on your phone. There is no supported way to merge this data.

iTunes Match is a subscription system that allows you to upload your own music (e.g. coped from CDs) to the cloud so that it shows (in the cloud) on your devices and computers without having to sync/copy it.
Automatic downloads allows to, for example, buy an app on your computer's iTunes and have it automatically download on your phone without having to connect and sync it or go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app on your download and download it yourself - but doing that, going to the Purchased tab and redownloading an app, should get it associated.
But no, I'm not aware of any problems that not having it associated causes. -
pioneer 8400 DVD receiver player, as iPhone ios6 update now when connecting the new iPhone with ios6 to my car DVD 8400 unit, when playing music such as on my phone or Pandora the track button does not function or work at all not even if i press skip track forward or back on the unit it doesn't function everything works except that. on listening to radio or anything else related not pairing thru Bluetooth unit works fine, seems there to be Bluetooth update that is not making iPhone and unit not compatible at all. does pioneer need fix this problem with update firmware or thru apple need help. my iPhone was working fine before with previous ios 5 before.

repeatedly tried from diffierent computers and the same error code pops up (error -1)That's a hardware problem which will require a trip to the Apple store for evaluation, unless your phone has been jailbroken, then it's a corrupt hosts file (and we can't help you with that here as it is against the forum's terms of use).

I am using my old iPhone for playlist for my Dad's funeral as that meets the crematorium requirements. Some tracks - uploaded from personal CDs to MacBook Pro and successfully transferred to new iPhone (with small doc) won't transfer on syncing. Most do, but why won't some, of my own music sync when others off the same album and in the same playlist do? I have now checked the storage, freed up 766MB, how can i not sync (and get everything i've just deleted back) but upload the required tunes? All help appreciated, many thanks x x x
