Restriction of Opening the Workbook

Hi,
I want to disable the option of opening the report (.DIS) from 'My Computer'. i.e when the user is connected to the database, the discoverer should disable this option. It should be allowed to select the report only from 'Database'.
Is there any settings / rights to be done at the admin side for the particular user.
Pls help.
Thanks
Ramesh Ganji

Hi,
One possible approach is:
check this thread:
Deactivate 'SAVE" pushbotton in transaction MIRO
You can create an Authorization Object and assign it to a user profile.
Check this Authorization within the badi of the above link and if the user is not allowed to post just deactivate the "ok-code" and send a message.
Best regards.

  • Getting error while opening the workbook

    Hi,
I am getting one error while opening the workbook.
Error: The Dependency "Join condition" is not found in EUL.
Basically, the workbook was working fine. But we droped some joins and recreated new joins. After this change, our worknbooks starts giving this error.
    Please advice.
Where i can get the dependency information in EUL?
    Thanks, rajesh

This has to be one of the most 'pain in the butt' errors you can get (well ... 0000 - normal successful completion is another).
Although I've seen this one for years, these days I'm finding many more examples that are happening to me with this (simply the environment I'm in) and in many cases, requires rebuilding the workbook again. For example, sometimes I put in the join that I think it's having a problem with, but the existing workbook simply won't run. Recreating the workbook exactly the same gets it to work properly. Maybe it's a 4.x thing (version I'm on these days) ... but just a warning that you may well have to rebuild.

  • In PowerPivot, can I configure a slicer/timeline to automatically select the recent N days when someone opens the workbook?

For example, is it possible to let a slicer/timeline automatically select last 7 days whenever someone opens the workbook, so that one can always see the latest data without having to manually click/drag to select the most recent time range. Can I achieve
    this?
    Thanks.

    yes
Add an extra custom column to the calendar which is called RefreshDate for which the formula is =today().
Now the rest is up to you as to how you want to do this. You could add a column TodayMinus1  defined as =IF([Date]=[Refresh Date]-1,TRUE,FALSE)
Personally I would rather have the Refresh date supplied from the database when you connect to refresh.
    Hope That Helps

  • Critical program error in BEx designer when open the workbook

problem is coming related to Workbook.when i m opening the workbook then busiess explorer giving the error messgae i.e * A critical program error has occured. The program will now terminare.please refer to the trace for further information * kindly please provide the best solution for this problems.

hello , I got the same error while opening a workbook, and I found that this is happening coz I made some changes in Query  structure contained into workbook.
So when you are opening and inserting the input variable do following things:
1.Open the workbook and insert the variable, but do not click "OK" just click on "CANCEL",
and your Workbook will display without data .
2.Now go to "Design Mode" reinsert the query by refreshing  dataprovider(data analysis grid), and do the changes if you required and exit design mode,
    3. Save workbook and now insert the variable values  and check  the work book will work without any error.
Thanks Hope it will help, coz it helped me.

  • Oracle Discoverer unable to open the workbook due to insufficient Permissio

I have an error message when I try to open a workbook with some worksheet.
( It's working fine with only one Worksheet)
    Any idea ?

Well here's how it's supposed to work.
Step 1: Create workbook A with 5 reports (5 worksheets)
Step 2: Go into Disco Admin and make sure each business area where the folder(s) referred to in the step 1 can be seen by each user you're sharing the workbook with (security). For example, if worksheet 1 accesses business area: GL_Stuff, then security on GL_Stuff must be with all 5 users you'll share the report with.
Step 3. Share workbook A with the 5 users (via Plus or Desktop where you created the workbook).
Step 4. All users can see and run the workbook / worksheet.
    Questions:
    1. I don't know what you mean in your Step 3. There's no permissions at this point. What you do is give read to ALL tables / views, etc. to the owner of the EUL. Then either the owner of the EUL (or another user who has been given admin privs) controls security to other roles via the Tools-> Security window in Admin.
    2. Are you 5 worksheets based on the same business area or are they going to different business areas. No problem if going to different ones, but you must make sure security for sharing with the other users / roles is for each business area they will be using to retrieve data from the folder and therefore the underlying view / table / sql statement.

  • Couldn't Open the Workbook

    Hi,
We often get the below error when we try opening an excel file irrespective of its extension or version. This happen to only few documents and all.
Normally when this occurs currently we ask end users to copy the content to a new workbook and upload the same. But I don't think this is viable everytime.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ankush Shah

    Hi Ankush,
Documents are cached and the load balancing seemed to make excel document available using office web apps. This can cause if your environment have both http and https configured and I assume the requests are coming out the cache or from OWA that has the host
    entry in NLB.
You need to tell OWA where to go via a NLB entry.

  • Problem with the Workbook

    Hi
We have used the pre - calculation server to schedule work books.
The pre-calculation server is  ready  with status in green and when i schedule the job, the job is getting  executed  and the mail is getting triggered but when we open the  workbook   it is not opening.
Can some one suggest me as to what could be the problem...

    Hi,
Can you please check the entry in transaction SOST for the broadcast. Does the workbook open ok from there?
    - Is there are an issue with the BEx front end on the machine that you are opening the workbook?
    - Does the workbook open and refresh ok on the precalc server?
    - Perhaps try to update the BEx patches on the precalc server
           - BW 3.x Add-On Front-End SP10  (see note 1413154)
           - BW 7.x Add-On Front-end SP1300 (see note 1413030)
           - SAP GUI patch 19
           - Service market place patch location (see note 1091323)
    - Ensure that the precalc server is on the same patch level as Analyzer.
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • Auto refresh when opening a workbook

    Hi
When I open a workbook, I would like the query to auto refresh. In that way the planning user will see the latest planning values and not the ones saved in the workbook.
Is there any functionality for running the planning function refresh automatically when the workbook is opened?
    Kind regards
    Erik

    Hi Erik,
Once you open the workbook, just right click on result area and select properties.
In that select the Interaction tab and then check Refresh query when opening workbook.
Then dont forget to save the work book.

and then I hidden Col_B and Col_C in the excel. save the query as a workbook.
When I open the workbook, and refresh it,the hidden Col_B and Col_C were appear.
PLZ tell me how to hide the columns Col_B and Col_C, If I refresh the workbook, they will be hidden either.
My BEX Analyzer version is BI AddOn 7.x(based on 7.10), Support package 8, Revison 1408.

    Hello Bruce,
    As mentioned by others.
If it is possible, try to hide these two columns in the query designer.
If there are few calculaions need to be done in excel with these fields, then include a macro to the hide these columns.
You need to include the code to hide these columns to the exit macro 'call back'.
    Hope this helps.

    Description:
E,608,Error in Calculation error:Object reference not set to an instance of an object.,Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
When we open the workbook we get a message that the excel is corrupted.
    Has anyone had similar problems.
    Your help is appreciated.

    Hi,
Check the below error in the workbook for reference field of the query.
<i>E,608,Error in Calculation error:Object reference not set to an instance of an object.,Object reference not set to an instance of an object.</i>
Refresh the work book and check it the values for the column. if you get the same error then check the corresponding reference value of the query. there might be some problems in the query/
