Retrieving playing time

The question is how can I retrieve the playing time of a video or audio sample. I do not referring the media time I'm referring the time the sample is being playing. I guess I have to get down to video/audio renderer level but I a litle lost at this area.
I need this information to write down in a log file in order to make some remote synchronization performance analisys. Thank you all.

have you try'd "processor.getMediaTime()" or "player.getMediaTime()" ?

    i'm just wondering:
    a) why it does this
and b) how to stop it doing this, because it still charges me for the song :/

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • ITunes Last Played time off by 1 Hour

    Hi Guyz,
I am on SE Asia Time (GMT+7) and my PC clock is set correctly, but every time I play song in iTUnes, it's Last Played time is off (earlier) by exactly 1 Hour.
    Anyone why it's doing that.
    Example
Now it's 18:27 and the song will say last played 17:27
    Strange
    Thanks

I can imagine that is frustrating as heck.  My daughter has one of these and I know for a fact hers does not turn off after 10 minutes because I have to turn it off for her every night after she has fallen asleep.  Below is what Apple has to say about it from a troubleshooting standpoint.
"If music stops when the iPod nano screen turns off m Make sure the earphone port is free of debris. m Make sure the earphone or headphone connector is pushed in all the way. To see an illustration, go to support.apple.com/kb/ts3700."
Are you using aftermarket ear buds or speakers when you listen to these lectures???  If so maybe it has something to due with a compatibility issue.

  • HT201250 is there any way to retrieve deleted time machine backups?

is there any way to retrieve deleted time machine backups? it has now deleted the oldest, but most important backup. It was made right before before upgrading to mountain lion. Because I had some issues with placing the files back the way I wanted, I had to connect my hard drive to my mac several times. Result, everytime I did so, a backup was made. Like today, when I was transferring everything from that specific backup. But in the meantime Time Machine made a new backup, deleting the old one I was using.  Ironically, I lost everything while I was transferring the files back to my mac. Please give me good news.

Once the external hard drive that you use for Time machine deleted its oldest backup and overwrote it, the ability to retrieve those files disappeared.  They are gone for good.
    Hope this helps

  • ITunes "Last Played" Time Stamp issues

    I have a late 2011 Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.2 & iTunes 11.0 (163).
Ever since I did the last update to iTunes, the "Last Played" time stamp has not worked.
In the past, whenever a track finished playing, iTunes would place the time & date in the "Last Played" column. This no longer works.
I just came back from the local Apple Store, & one of the workers there suggested setting the iTunes Preferences supply the time stamp.
When I got home, I went through the preferences, but could not find anything for the "Last Played" time stamp.
    Please help.

Go into iTunes Preferences and turn off crossfade.  Don't ask why it works; do ask apple to fix this bug!

  • Play Time is off 10-15 sec in v4.5 Pro

I am trying to get a simple statistical counter to work but the timing always comes up wrong.  I have narrowed it down to the Play Time.
It's nearly 15 seconds slow.  Is there an adjustment for this?  It is really hard to get any accuracy.
    Thanx in advance.

Can you provide some details on exactly what you are testing?  Does the play selector needs to move from the left-most position to the right-most position in a specific time interval?
The only options to adjust the frequency of the insert is by adjusting the Play Time, and the amount of values contains in the source data.

  • YouTube videos stop and I have to press play time and again. Is there a fix?

When playing a YouTube video... It stops as if the pause was selected. I have to press play time and again to work my way through it. Is there a fix?

This is usually caused by an internet connection that is not fast enough to keep up with the playing of the video. Once the video reaches the end of what has been download, it pauses. You have to tap and then tap play to start it up again. Once it pauses it's best to wait until more video has been uploaded before tapping play again.

  • Smart playlists and last played time

If I have a smart playlist, I noticed the last played time of an item does not update if I have launched and played the item from the main area it appears in (like podcasts).
    Any solution for this?
    Thanks.

Normally the Last Played time updates when the song reaches the end. That should be true no matter where it is launched from. Are you seeing something different?

  • 8.1 not updating Last Played time/date

Songs are playing normally, but when I check Recently Played it only shows the tracks that played just before installing the update. The Play Count is registering properly, but the time and date played are not.
Also, I'd rather have my old shuffle function back. Genius is an optional function that can be turned off if I choose not to use it and I wish iTunes DJ was the same way.

I'm also no longer getting last played time updated as well as play count not increasing. Also, when I rate a track from the shuffle's list, the rating does not transfer to the original track on disk. This makes manual management of tracks on a shuffle impossible. The play position is also lost.
Apple, this is a critical bug bug, because of loss of data. Please fix it asap.

  • Does Time Capsule back up everything on my computer? If I inadvertently delete photos from iPhoto can they be retrieved from Time Capsule?

Does Time Capsule back up everything on my computer? If I inadvertently delete photos from iPhoto can they be retrieved from Time Capsule?

About TM "Backup Drive is Full"
Alert TM only deletes older files if they have been deleted from the source and when TM needs space on the backup drive for a new incremental backup. Time Machine "thins" it's backups; hourly backups over 24 hours old, except the first of the day; those "daily" backups over 30 days old, except the first of the week. The weeklies are kept as long as there's room.
So, how long a backup file remains depends on how long it was on your Mac before being deleted, assuming you do at least one backup per day. If it was there for at least 24 hours, it will be kept for at least a month. If it was there for at least a week, it will be kept as long as there's room.
Note, that on a Time Capsule the sparsebundle grows in size as needed, but doesn't shrink. Thus, from the user's view of the TC it appears that no space has been freed, although there may be space in the sparsebundle.
Once TM has found it cannot free up enough space for a new backup it reports the disk is full. You can either erase the backup drive and start your backups anew or replace the drive with a larger drive.

  • Now Playing Time Not Moving

When using Airtunes with my AX, it will play the music I've clicked, however, the Now Playing time will not progress. If you happen to pause a song, then resume, it will start over again. I can seek to any spot in a song, and iTunes will remain there, even though the song is playing through. When that track ends, it remains there, not switching the "Now Playing" speaker thing to the new track. Again, pushing pause will only put it back to that original point.
When I play music locally, it plays fine. I've reinstalled/repaired, reset the AX, and am using the latest firmware/software everywhere.
Important to note is that other computers in my network work correctly with the AX (their time moves as it plays). All are running XP SP2 with everything applied, and the AX is joined to a network using a Belkin N1 router.
    Any suggestions?

So, the issue was not necessarily resolved, however, I recently formatted my computer and replaced XP with Vista Enterprise, and the problem has disappeared. Hopefully it was an isolated incident.

  • 'Recently Played' times incorrect for videos.

Overall, I'm loving my Apple TV, but the only problem I have is this:
After watching a movie/TV show on my Apple TV and then syncing with iTunes, the videos that I've watched are showing up in my 'Recently Played' playlist in iTunes but their 'Last Played' time is incorrect. The time shown is usually in the future, maybe eight or so hours ahead of the actual time.
Songs played on the Apple TV show up in iTunes with the 'Last Played' time correct, the problem only happens with videos.
It's not a major issue, but it's annoying me a bit because my Recently Played playlist is all messed up.
Is anyone else having this problem? Anyway to fix it?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
This is a known issue, and Macfixit has this to say about it -
    Late-Breakers

Apple TV Special Report: Incorrect time setting
It appears that many Apple TVs are displaying the wrong time -- generally several hours ahead of the current, actual time as maintained by the host Mac/PC. This causes issues with the "Last played" time-stamp, which may erroneously show a future time for the last playback.
This is an issue into which Apple is looking, and may necessitate an Apple TV software revision.

  • Determine audio file play time from size

    Hello!
I have a mp3 file and i want to determine it's play time from it's length. Is this thing possible? Could anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks in advance!
    Cheers!
    Radu

Thanks you both for your replies!
I posted yesterday late in the evening and my brain didn't work quite well :)). After i've read your posts today, i realized that i will be using mplayer in slave mode to play the audio file, and a quick google search showed me that mplayer offers a way to retreive the play time of any audio/video file (in seconds). Tested it today and it works! So i guess my question has been answered.
    Thanks again
    Cheers!

  • Retrieve Computer time in microsecond

to retrieve computer time i use the function System.currentTimeMillis() but i need the time in microsecond. how could i get that?

    <snip>
Java 1.5 added nanosecond methods for hardware/OS
combinations that can support it.Which at current includes none at all :)<snip>
Are you saying that System.nanoTime() isn't supported at the present time?
That's not correct - I am running a 3 GB Pentium 4, a relatively recent GigaByte m/b and XP Pro, and get very good microsecond and submicrosecond results from the method.
I executed 2 consecutuive calls to the method, like so
    startTime = System.nanoTime();
    estimatedTime = System.nanoTime() - startTime;and averaged 100 repetitions.
Results vary with the manner in which the jvm is executed. Here's a summary of results, to give a feel for what's possible.
    Program Execution From        Nanoseconds (average)
    Commandline                     1300
    CrimsonEditor                    500
    jEdit                            700
NetBeans IDE 4.1                1050So, depending on the method of execution, nanosecond precision ranges from 500 to 1300 (0.5 microsecond to 1.3 microsecond). Accuracy (repeatability) is not as good - there are outliers in the individual times, probably due to Garbage Collections. However excluding those outliers, times appear reasonably repeatable.
