Return Completion Message from DBMS Job

I have an application that includes a button that creates a dbms job. Is it possible to display a message in the HTML DB application when the job completes on the back-end?
Currently, if you add a success message to the button, it will come back right away with "Success" since the application successfully submitted the job. I would like for a message to be returned when the job actually completes (whether it be 1 minute or 1 hour from the time it was submitted.)
Any ideas?

Is this a one shot job or a recurring job?
If it is a recurring job, you would probably have to create another job to poll the user_jobs view every so often to determine whether it has run or not. If it is a one shot deal, you would have to store the job number in either an application item or a database table. If you store it in an application item, the user will have to keep the app "open" (assuming it takes an hour) or else it will be cleared from session state.
Storing the job number in a database table, along with the userid, and then checking to see whether the job exists in user_jobs would probably be the best way. You could create a "success" message on Page 0 and set it only to display when the job doesn't exist. That would allow the user to close the app and come back to it later. Of course you would have to delete the row in the table when it is displayed otherwise it will always be there.
Anyway, just thinking out loud...

    is there anyway to send the warning status through Host cooncurrent program ?
    Thanks

    I do not have access to a test instance to try this, but I believe "exit 2" will make the host concurrent program complete with a warning status. Can you pl try this and post your results here ? :-)

  • Returning error messages from media server

    My application requires that I can get detailed feedback from
    the FMS upon a given failure. For instance, if I try to open a
    stream who's file does not exist, is it possible to have a message
    or error code returned to Flash so that I can deal with the problem
    accordingly (in this case display some text that says "stream not
    available or similar)?
    From my experience, the only messages that get returned are
    success or failure messages but nothing specific.

    Look in the docs under the netStream class, and it's onStatus
    method. If a stream is not found, the onStatus returns
    netStream.play.streamNotFound as the code. You just need to have
    your netStream's onStatus method fire off your events.

  • Checksum not generated from dbms job

    APEX version 3.2.0.00.27
    DB version 11.2.0.1.0
    I've built a database procedure which builds a string that includes a hyperlink, and which then passes that string to a procedure that sends the string as the body of an email.
    The procedure calls apex_util.prepare_url to generate a checksum for the link.
    I've added to the application a button which calls the procedure.
    When I press the button, I get an email which contains the link with checksum.
    I've also created a dbms_job that runs nightly. It calls the same email-generating procedure.
    However, the email that the dbms_job generates does NOT include the checksum.
    How can I ensure that the link includes a checksum when the dbms_job calls the procedure?
    Thanks,
    -Ken

    Hello Ken,
    >> Does anyone out there know if there is a way that I can obtain a valid APEX session id from within a procedure invoked through dbms_job?
    I’m under the impression that you are trying to achieve a security goal using the wrong tool.
    The Session State Checksum feature was design to prevent URL tampering within a specific APEX Session. That is why the Session ID is part of the computed checksum. Session State (represented by Session ID) is not persistent beyond the current and specific (user client) APEX Session. Even if you were able to obtain a valid APEX Session ID within an (APEX) external process (like stored procedure), for generating the *&cs* URL parameter, it won’t help you much. The user that received your e-mail, with the checksum protected URL, will not have the same APEX Session ID when he/she will try to use the URL (which includes a Session ID no longer valid), and the security check will fail (which is one of the purposes of this mechanism).
    In your case, it seems that you need to generate a checksum parameter that is not dependent on the APEX Session, and you’ll need to do so yourself.

    Arie.

    ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message: ORA-02063: preceding line from OWB_75
    Scenario:
    I am having difficulty getting ODBC connection between Oracle OWB app with an 11gR2 DB (running on a VirtualBox Linux) and SQL Server 2008 running directly on the host. (Windows 8)
    I am trying to take a SQL Server 2008 feed into Oracle Ware house Builder, and think(!) I have read everything and configured it in accordance (but I presume not given 3 days of failed attempts to fix it). Let us rewrite your ODBC DSN a little bit... Your current odbc.ini looks like:
    [ACME_POS]
    Driver     = FreeTDS
    Description = ODBC Connection via FreeTDS
    Trace       = 1
    Servername  = 192.168.1.80
    Database    = dbo
    Let us change it a little bit so that we only need one config file - no odbcinst.ini nor freetds.conf file anymore:
    [ACME_POS]
    Driver =/usr/local/lib/libtdsodbc.so
    Server = 192.168.1.80
    Database
    = dbo     ####  I have some doubts that you have a SQL Server database called dbo - one database that always exists is master - so as a test use master here or get the real database name of the SQL Server database you want to connect
    Port = 60801 ## make sure it really is the correct port - best would be to check on the SQL server and then try telnet <ip> <port> if you can connect to the SQL server
    TDS_Version = 8.0
    QuotedId=YES
    Especially the last 2 parameters are mandatory. TDS_Version specifies the TDS Version you have to use to connect to the SQL Server and QuotedID is required for DG4ODBC as it surrounds objevt names by double quotes.
    What happens now when you try to connect with for example isql - the ODBC test utility shipped with the ODBC Driver manager?
    In addition, could you please do me another favour and check the word size of DG4ODBC and the ODBC Driver Manager as well as the ODBC Driver - just execute:
    file /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome_1/bin/dg4odbc
    file /usr/local/lib/libtdsodbc.so
    file < the patch to your libodbc.so library>/libodbc.so
    and post the output.

    I switched over from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S3 & I haven't been able to receive any text messages from iPhones. I have no problem sending the text messages but I'm not receivng any from iPhones at all. It has been about a week now that I'm having this problem. I've already tried fixing it myself and I also went into the sprint store, they tried everything as well. My last option was to contact Apple directly. Please help with turning my iMessage completely off so that I can receive my texts.

    If you registered your iPhone with Apple using a support profile, try going to https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do and unregistering it.  Also, try changing the password associated with the Apple ID that you were using for iMessage.

    Easiest way to find out if this is the problem is by:
    • Create a new User-Account
    • Log out of Your old one and into this
    • Re-try iMovie
    If it now works OK - then 99.9% the problem is iMovie pref. file that needs to be trashed.

    Some users notice on exporting larger projects from within iMovie that this operation is aborted with an 'error -49'

  • Sending Process Message from PI Sheets without "Completing" it

    Hi,
    We have long running process orders in our scenarios (typically lasting 3 days).
    We are planning to use PI sheets to manage our goods issue/receipts/confirmations. During the brief evaluation of characteristics based PI sheets, we found that all the GI/GR process messages are created only when the entire PI sheet is "Completed".
    Since ours is a long running process, we need that the GI/GR entered by the operator is posted immediately in the system (without waiting for PI sheet completion). We can not wait till all the data is entered and the process order is completed three days later.
    How do we handle this problem?
    We thought of using custom function modules. However, that will mean that we will loose the benefits of the standard GUI elements of PI sheets and complications of custom development.
    Any response will be highly appreciated.
    Regards,

    Here is something you can try.
    With the browser based sheets, try putting in a signature PI category (SAP provide "SIGN") which tends to create a message and place it in the message monitor.  By scheduling the message send background job to run periodically you can pick up and send the messages.  You can schedule this job to run after the event "NEW MESSAGE" but beware the system performance - every 5 mins or so tends to be almost as good with less strain on system resources!
    I tend to create a table based PI category to contain each reservation plus room to add actual goods issues/receipts.  Once these are entered, a signature category sends all the messages for the particular phase.  Thus good structure of phases is important.
    For goods receipts, you may need to have a phase for each day against which to post a confirmation and/or goods receipt and this together with signature will send the messages.  Alternately, use a PI Category to call the transaction for performing goods receipt - or a bespoke transaction to "front end" the goods receipt - you can pass parameters when you call transactions so you can could pre-populate some information.
    Final point on signature - you can set a simple signature that just accepts whatever the user enters on the screen - typically their initials.

  • Create Return Order copy from Billing created from DBM Order Processing

    Hi SAP Gurus
    I have scenario where the user requested to create return order based on Billing created from DBM Order Processing.
    I know that, we can create return order from DBM. but the function copy based on order. the user is requested to do return
    by billing document ( function as SD )
    is this requirement can be done in SD VA01 where the user can copy the billing created from DBM and create return order using SD function

    Hi,
    in DBM you regulary have mulitiple invoices per order (due to split).
    You either can cancel an certain invoice and adapt the order or create a returns order based on an given order where you can select certain (e.g. invoiced) items.

  • XmlHttpRequest AJAX not returning message from COMET server

    I have the following COMET client javascript code:
    function getResponse() {
    document.getElementById("_receivedMsgLabel").innerHTML += "getResponse() called.<br/>";
    if (receiveReq.readyState == 4 || receiveReq.readyState == 0) {
    receiveReq.open("GET", "http://L45723:1802?callback=testcallback", true); //must use this URL at work.
    receiveReq.onreadystatechange = handleReceiveMessage;
    alert("handleReceiveMessage assigned to onreadystatechange event.");
    receiveReq.overrideMimeType("text/x-json");
    receiveReq.timeout = 100000;
    var currentDate = new Date();
    var sendMessage = JSON.stringify({
    SendTimestamp: currentDate,
    Message: "Message 1",
    Browser: navigator.appName,
    OriginUrl: document.URL
    var sendMessage = "SendTimestamp=" + currentDate + "&Message=Message1&Browser=" + navigator.userAgent;
    alert("JSON message created. About to send...");
    receiveReq.send(sendMessage);
    alert("Message sent.");
    //function for handling the return message from Comet
    function handleReceiveMessage() {
    document.getElementById("_receivedMsgLabel").innerHTML += "Status=" + receiveReq.status;
    document.getElementById("_receivedMsgLabel").innerHTML += "responseText=" + receiveReq.responseText;
    if (receiveReq.readyState == 4 && receiveReq.status == 200) {
    document.getElementById("_receivedMsgLabel").innerHTML += "Message received!<br/>";
    var status = receiveReq.status;
    var txt = receiveReq.responseText;
    document.getElementById("_receivedMsgLabel").innerHTML += txt + "<br/>";
    mTimer = setTimeout("getResponse();", 0);
    getResponse();
    The GET request is sent and received by the COMET server, which sends the response back when I choose to. The handleReceiveMessage() function is called, but the message the server sent is not in the xmlHttpRequest.responseText property.
    Why?

    I suggest continuing the discussion in your thread on mozillaZine, since this site focuses more on end-user support.

  • Regarding return message from custom transaction

    Hello all,
              i have a scenario where i am calling a custom transaction and trying to get return messages, but i am not getting any return message instead i am getting error message in that transaction even if i am using mode 'N' in my call.
            Do my custom transaction need to follow some methodology which will return error message, as messages are returned when standard call transaction is made.
    Thanks
    raju N

    hello abi,
            i am getting a empty message table, thing is that from the custom transaction they are calling other standard transaction and getting error message. if any error occurs they are using 'message id'  syntax and displaying and if any error occurs internally in that transaction they are using 'message e001'. this kind of error messages are returned to my call transaction but the other one is not getting populated.
    Thanks,
    raju N
