Return Parameter from ftexec

Has anyone had any luck returning a code from a server partition?
It seems that the following will always return with code 0 (zero), even
if we kill the process.
For example,

Release 3 is supposed to return an exit code by setting the new
Task.Part.OperatingSystem attribute. Are you running R2? I copied the
following from the Forte 3.0 BetaFeatures documentation:
New Attributes [on Task.Part.OperatingSystem]
ExitStatus
The ExitStatus attribute is available from TOOL programs and command shell
scripts. The ExitStatus value can be returned to the parent shell or job that
started the Fort&sbquo; executor allowing shell scripts and programs to test for
specific, expected results from a Fort&sbquo; process.
The value for ExitStatus is always set by the time the executor exits. It
defaults to zero (0) for success or one (1) for an abnormal exit. You can use
values other than zero or one to signify expected results in your application.
Note that the value for ExitStatus can be changed after it has been explicitly
set. In particular, if a program set ExitStatus to zero for normal exit, but
then encountered a serious error that caused an abnormal exit, the value is
reset to 1 for return to the parent environment. The exit status value can
also be set using the ExitStatus command in Escript and Fscript.

Returning Internal Table as Returning Parameter of Method (by Value).

When you return an internal table as the returning parameter of a method, it is passed by value. I understand the concept of passing by value vs. passing by reference, but exactly what this means in this case is ambiguous.
1) It could mean that the entire table, including data, is copied from the local table in the method into the parameter provided by the calling code.
2) Alternatively, it could mean that only the pointer to the table is passed by value and the data is not literally copied from one place in memory to another. This would not be the same as passing by reference. For instance, I believe this is how object references are passed by value.
I want to know how it works, so that I know if there is an efficiency problem with returning a huge table. The returning parameter is wonderful for getter methods, and I prefer to use it over exporting parameters, but I have some concern about passing tables as returning parameters since I don't know how this works.
Can anyone either explain this, or at least make it clear to me whether or not there is an efficiency issue?

Thanks to those who tried to help me with this question, but I finally had to just figure it out on my own. I just realized today that there is a way to find the answer using the debugger's Go To->Status Display->Memory Use option. This shows how variables are stored in memory.
The answer:
First of all, if you set one internal table equal to another like:
i_tab1 = i_tab2.
or like:
i_tab1[] = i_tab2[].
both will simply set i_tab1 to point to the same memory that i_tab2 is using. It does not make a copy. Now, if you attempt to change i_tab1, with an append statement for instance, a copy of i_tab2's memory is made then! The requested change to i_tab1 is then applied to the copied data. AHA!!! This means that even if you think you are copying a table, you are not really doing it until it becomes necessary due to a divergence in values.
I specifically tested a returning parameter to see how memory is handled, and it is basically just like an '=' statment. No copy of the data is performed at first. The memory that is allocated for the local variable in the method is simply pointed to by the variable used in the calling code to recieve that value.
What if you then change the value in the calling code after the method has finished executing? The answer depends on the situation. If the value that you returned from the method is still being pointed to by another variable somewhere, then a copy is made when you attempt to change the returned table in the calling code, but if there is no longer another variable pointing to this memory, you can change the table in the calling program all you want without causing a copy in memory.
For instance, if you have a getter method that returns the value of an attribute, at first no copy will be made, but when you try to change the table in your calling code, a copy will be made then. However, if you just fill a local table in your getter method and return that table, there will never be a copy made, because the local variable that originally pointed to that memory expired when the method completed. That means that after the method completes, the only variable pointing to the allocated memory is the one in the calling code that recieved the returning value.
This is fantastic!! This behaives in a way that seems to provide maximum efficiency in most cases. Also, the table copies are never a waste, since they only happen upon changing of one of the table variables that point to the common memory, and in this case you would want to make a copy to avoid corrupting the other variable.
Also, even if you did return your table as an exporting parameter by reference, you would not gain any significant efficiency. There would still be no table copy if you don't change the returned table. Also, if you did change the returned table, you would still produce a table copy if there was another variable, like an attribute, still pointing to the memory that you set your exporting paramter from before.
The only situation that I can see resulting in a needless efficiency problem is if someone used a getter method to return the value of a table attribute, then changed the returned table in the calling program, and then used a setter method to set the whole table attribute equal to the changed table. This would be a waste, so maybe this should be accomplished in another way.
In conclusion, there is essentially no reason to hesitate returning a whole internal table as a returning parameter from a method call, even though it is pass by value.
Kudos to the ABAP development team for their good design!

Return parameter of cursor_type from a package.

When running or debugging a database package, it appears that a return parameter of cursor_type can not be handled in that SQL Developer will not display the contents of the cursor. We have a large number of packages that contain cursors as output parameters. Currently we use PL/SQL developer which displays the contents of a cursor at the click of a button. This is a great advantage to us as it saves having to write code just for testing purposes.
We are trying to migrate all users to SQL Developer - Is it possible to display the contents of output parameter cursors in SQL Developer ?

As you discovered for yourself, ref cursors aren't supported yet.
Several users are asking for the same, so I'd say chances are big they'll get to that soon. To put more weight on this feature, vote for it on the SQL Developer Exchange.

You need to have either OUTPUT parameters or use RETURN statement to return a value in stored procedures. RETURN can only return integer values whereas OUTPUT parameters can be of any type
First modify your procedure to define return value or OUTPUT parameter based on requirement

Report 2 returning data from previously ran report 1 - Plus/Viewer

Hello,
We have an issue running through discoverer viewer and plus.
If you run the first report with a parameter for the year with this returns the correct data. However if you run report after the first with year 09-10, the 08-09 data is returned again from the previous report
It doesn't matter which order you run them i.e. if you run the 09-10 first and then the 08-09 the 09-10 data is returned.
The reports work fine when run in Discoverer Desktop.
When 2nd report is run after first it returns the data that appears in the first. This Does not happen on Disco Desktop. The SQL from the reports also runs correctly in TOAD.
Metalink notes suggest turning of the Webcache but this is not turned on in either apps tiers
I have also recreated both reports and this has not made a difference either.

Hi,
Even with webcache turned off Discoverer holds the results of the last run from plus/viewer in the application server and will return these results unless an explicit refresh is entered. Normally, if different parameters are entered this is recognised and the report is re-run. I don't know how you are running your report but for some reason it is not recognising the new parameters and returning the last result set. A refresh should return the correct results.

What I think I'm missing, in my quest for ODP.NET competence, is a solid set of example code. I've searched around and found various fragements here and there, but when it comes to data access from .NET there must surely be some finitie set of possibilities (if we can discount bad practices like building dynamic SQL statements without bind variables).
For example, possibly in increasing order of complexity ...
* Read a single value from a SQL statement ... "select emp_name from emp where rownum < 2"
* Read a single value by passing in a parameter ... "select emp_name from emp where user_id = :?"
* read multiple values ... "select emp_name from emp where user_id in (:?,:?)"
* execute a stored procedure with no in or out parameters
* retreive a value from a function with no parameters
* pass a parameter to a stored procedure
* read an out parameter from a stored procedure
Then work with in and out ref cursors, blobs, whatever.

The ways to return data from a stored procedure.

Hi, I know there are three ways to pass out a value from a Microsoft SQL stored procedure, but I have no clear idea what Oracle SP can do, I know Oracle doesn't support multi-recordset(v8), can not return a recordset by a inner select query, but I do know there is a cursor object, which doesn't like its counterpart in Microsoft SQL server, is a choice under most situation. Here I wonder anyone who is good at Oracle can give a list of all ways to return data from a SP, including example is more better, thanks.

Here is a way to get return a record from a function and a procedure. You need to be familiar with Oracle packages as well as stored procedures and functions:

Note that you can return any Oracle data type from a function. Likewise, you can specify any Oracle data type as an out parameter in a procedure. Also, you can make a parameter both an in and an out datatype like this:

Well, when you create the parameter collection for your command object, just set the correct value for the direction component.
You would set it to one of the below, depending on if the parameter is IN OUT or only OUT:
<parameter_obj>.Direction = ParameterDirectionEnum.adParamInputOutput

In the bugwatcher Action there is another function called PostLoadContent.java

So this is the total scenario for the fetching the data , after clearing the cache and display that in the portal.I am unable to do that.Presently it is still fetching the data from the cache and it is not going to the database.Even the portlet Id is returning as null.
I am unable to implement that thing.
If you have any insight about this thing, that would be great .As it is very urgent a promt response will highly appreciated.Please send me any pointers or any issues for this I am unable to do that.

Problem calling a method which takes a parameter from a table

Hi guys,
I'm very new to jsf and hope you can help me out.
On my page i'm generating a list, which is working fine. now i want to add some commandLinks to the list entries. on click, i want to execute a bean method, which takes a parameter from the list, generates a picture and displays it on my page.
here's a piece of code thats already working:

How to make a "return delivery" from a goods mvnt linked to a reservation

Hi, I want to realize a "return delivery" from a goods mvnt that is linked to a reservation number.
I'm using FM BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE.
I'm able to create a goods mvnt, but this doesn't updates the quantity in the reservation document.
For example:
There are 10 units of a material reserved in a reservation document.
I create a goods mov. linked to the reservation number by populating the field RESERV_NO and RES_ITEM in the GOODSMVT_ITEM parameter. In this document I fullfilled the TARGET_QTY field with 10. This the positive movement.
After that, reservation document says that there are no units pending to serve. (10 reserved - 10 served = 0 pending).
Now, I want to return 2 units of this material. I fullfilled the fields REF_DOC_YR, REF_DOC and REF_DOC_IT with keys (doc/item/year) of the first goods movement, and MOVE_TYPE with the reversal movement number. But this doesn't updates the quantity in the reservation document.
I tried fullfiling RESERV_NO and RES_ITEM, but this generates a positive movement, not the reversal!
Is there any other process that updates quantity in the reservation document?
Could anybody help me?

1) Create a button on the chapter menu with the text MAIN MENU (or whatever you want it to say).
2) Select the chapter menu in either the graphical or outline view of your DVD.
3) Click on the Connections tab.
4) Select the MAIN MENU button in the source column.
5) Select the main menu in the Targets column.
6) Click the Connect button above the Targets column.
After doing the above steps you should see the main menu in the Target column to the right of "MAIN MENU:Jump when activated" in the source column. Your MAIN MENU button will now take you back to the main menu.

How to pass parameter from 1 stored procedure to another stored procedure inside crystal report

I have several stored procedure in my Crystal Report. I am wondering if it is possible for me to pass a parameter to one of the stored procedure and to use the result of that stored procedure E.g. CustomerCode. To another 2 stored procedure to generate the report dynamically?
I have 3 stored procedure
The 1st one is used to gather information and process the calculation
another 2 stored procedure is used for generate the graph and both of them required to take 2 parameters. The 1st stored procedure will require 1 parameter (E.G. Reference Code) and will return a set of information including the data that could be use on the other 2 stored procedures.
After I added these 2 stored procedure, it requires me to pass 3 parameters to the report. I would like to know if I could only pass the Reference Code for stored procedure 1 and use it to retrieve the information for the other 2 parameter?

Hi Chi
To pass parameter from 1 stored procedure to another stored procedure, you will have to create sub report. In your case you will have to create 2 sub reports for 2nd and 3rd stored procedure and link those sub reports with the main report using Reference Code field in order to pass the values.
After creating the report when you will refresh the report, it will ask 4 parameters, one parameter for main report, one for the first subreport and two for second subreport to fetch the data correctly.

Search Results web part - Custom Query using "Value with a parameter from URL" inconsistent

I have encountered what I think may be a bug, but I am hoping that there is something that I am missing.
Within my search site, I have created a new search results page where I want to customize the "Search Results" web part query. I can add in any number of property and keyword filters (using the "Build Your Query" dialog) without
issue... until I add a filter that uses the QueryString property (the builder dialog calls this "Value with a parameter from URL").
If I use {QueryString.MyParameterX} for filtering, it works beautifully in the query builder dialog. I see the expected results in the search results preview pane, but as soon as I apply the changes things become inconsistent.
If I close/reopen my browser and navigate to my page at http://myaddress/search/Pages/testresults.aspx?MyParameterX=test I see results. If I then refresh the page, I get a "Nothing here matches your search" message. I can then go to
the same address but change one character to an uppercase character and get results. Refreshing that same page again returns "Nothing here matches your search". I can only get search results one time per uniquely cased URL without having
to close/reopen my browser. This behavior was seen on both Firefox and IE.
Finally, I found that if I instead navigate to http://myaddress/search/testresults?MyParameterX=test, it always returns results. This, unfortunately isn't the best solution for me... but it is a solution.
Any insight that anyone can provide is greatly appreciated! I would really like to be able to depend on this working in all logical cases (especially since the search center of other sites is set using the path all the way down to /Pages).

i'm using srw.set_hyperlink to call report from report.
i have created a key value in the cgicmd.dat file called

Report is coming but not the expected result because parmaeters are not coming from first report to second report.
If i dont use cgicmd file userid and password are displyed in the URL.
Pl tell me how to pass parameter from one report to another.
