Reversing of Unplanned Depriciation
Dear Experts,
I have posted unplanned depriciation for an asset in June. I want to reverse the unplanned depriciation I have posted. I am trying to do the reversal through AB08. But when I run AB08 system is showing message no FI documents posted and the reversal is not taking effect.
Please help on what can be the possible issues. Thanks
unfortunately, This did not work. All this did was give me the message that no FI documents were posted.
I think I found the solution:I created a new transaction type Z64 which will debit instead of a credit. Once you post that this will cancel the wrong entry and be able to post the correct unplanned depreciation.
The thing to note here was when the ABAA is posted there is no FI document created until unless you have also posted AFAB, Which is my case was not the case. So this worked out for me fine.
Thanks for your help though!

Unplanned depriciation reducing the base value.
Dear Experts,
We have a asset on which we have posted a Unplanned depriciation, which has in turn reduced the Depriciation base value for future depriciation caluculation. Where as we want to depriciate the asset at APC value not at the Reduced base value (which is APC - Uplanned depriciation). Please suggest the possilbe solutin for this. Apart from this I have searched forum and learned that Unplanned depriciation can not be reversed. Please suggest any possilbe workaround through which we can reverse the uplanned depriciation.
Regards
JKHI
1. When did you post this unplanned depreciation?? In the past yr or this year??
If you posted it in the past years, then it is bound to impact in the current year... if you wanna avoid that, then Asset write up is the correct suggestion as given above
I think the Std Tr Type in ABZU would suffice.. No need to create a new tr type
2. If you posted the unplanned dep this year - Then you can control it in AFAMP as to when it should impact.. The Period controls have a new column for Unplanned dep, provided you have activated the new dep engine in EhP4

Asset Missing in Unplanned Depriciation.
Hi Gurus,
User has ran the unplanned Depriciation, in his Test Run, one asset was missing, but in Updated run, it was picked and depriciation was calculated and posted to Period 4. insted to period 01, 02,03, and 04.
Please help me to identify if i am missing anything here.
SpandanaHi Spandana,
This is case where asset had not been existing at the time when depreciation for period 1, 2 and 3 had been run and later on asset had been posted with values having vlaue date in past and therefore system had posted depreciation for past periods as ween (which is falling in current year) in period 4.
You shlould check change logs on assets to find more details as to what transaction had happened on the asset.
Thanks!!!

Unplanned depriciation run error
Depriciation posting run by AFAB, msg comes. Message no. AA730
restart is not possible for the above period.
Error: Last posting run terminated 2009/12.
give me solution...
Moderator: Please, search before postingDear:
You will have to open period 12 of 2009 and restart the depreciation for it in AFAB to avoid the error shown and to keep the consistency between GL an AA.
Alternatively you can use transaction ABF1 . In it go to
Menu ... Document ... Post with reference
1 Use the option Generate reverse posting along with display line items and copy text for the reversal postings in period 9
2 Use the option display line items ....copy text in period 10
Hope this will resolve your issue.

Unplanned Asset Book Depriciation
Hello
I have posted Unplanned Tax Depriciation . but book depriciation is also posted. and when i try to reverse the unplanned book depriciation through AB08 the system gives a message that no FI document is created but the Entry is already passed in General Ledger So how to reverse this document .. I am using ECC 5.0
Kindly assist me in this Issue ASAP ..
Reagrds
Wasim JuwaleEven if you dont fill the asset book field, it will not impact you adversely.
Also when you provide the Asset clearing/CIP Clearing account, system automatically update the Track as asset checkbox which can be viewed using the Folders>Show Field.
In R12 we have been provided with additional functionality whereby we can provide the asset book and asset category at the invoice level. This functionality was not available in earlier releases i.e. R11i.
Since when you will be running the transfer from AP to FA, system will ask you to provide the asset book against which you want to process the invoices lines.
Even if you provide the asset book at the invoices level and if the same is incorrect i.e. not in sync with the Asset clearing/CIP Clearing account defined at the asset category, your processing of the invoice lines from AP to FA will fail.
You can make the asset book field as Required using Forms personalizations, however that would be applicable for all invoices entered,
However i am not sure how to make this field (Asset book) required in conjunction with the Asset Clearing/CIP Clearing account. That needs to be explored and looked into.
And as per your post, since amyway you have different sites and corresponding asset book against each sites, you can anyway enter the associated asset book in the field and process it accordingly.
Hope this helps.
Thanks and Regards

How to reverse wrongly posted unplanned depreciaiton
Hello Gurus,
There has been wrong posting of unplanned depreciation for an asset and now the user needs to reverse such posting.
This occured when the Asset was transferred and some unplanned depreciaiton was posted wrongfully. Now the user wants to reverse the unplanned depreciation.
Can someone please help me with the steps and the T-Codes to reverse such wrong unplanned depreciaiton posting.
Would be really nice of you.
Thanks
SubhankarHi,
With u201CUnplanned Depreciationu201D posting, as immediately it will not be posted to FI and no FI document will be generated. It will be posted in next normal depreciationrun i.e., Whenever you run the t-code AFAB-Depreciation Run as part of month-end activities, system will post the u201CUnplanned depreciationu201D along with normal depreciation. So there will be no FI document will be generated with u201CUnplanned Depreciation posting. You need to reverse only Asset document . For this purpose do the following steps :
Option :1: a) Go to t-code-AW01N-Asset Explorer, specify the Asset No., click the posted u201CUnplanned depreciationu201D value
and get the Asset Document No. which is available under the head u201CTransactionsu201D.
b) Use t-code-AB08 and reverse the Asset document OR
Option :2: a) Go to t-code AS02-Change Asset Masteru2014Depreciation Areas, keep the Depreciation key with u201C0000u201D value
b) Run t-code-AFAB-Depreciation Run with u201CRepeatu201D option by giving/selecting the only the specific Main
Asset No. and Asset Sub-number at the bottom of the screen.

Unplanned depreciation in FI Fixed Assets does not post to FI-GL
We used transaction ABAA (unplanned depreciation) movement typ 640 to post a depreciation amount - The document has been posted in the AA module ( it is now showing against the Asset in the transaction Asset Explorer transactions AW01N and AB03) however we do not manage to get it posted to FI and consequently have a reconciliation difference between the value in the AA module and the FI-GL.
Can anybody please give advise how we can correct this?
We tried following so far:
(1) post the unplanned depreciation document using transaction AFAB - depreciation posting run.
No documents created.
The message log displays "You want to run the next planned run of the depreciation posting run in period 014. However, the last planned posting run was already performed for period 014."
Than tried to execute the transaction with selection 'repeat' , 'restart', 'unplanned depreciation run': no documents posted either ......
(2) reverse the unplanned depreciation document using transaction AB08
This failed; the system reports following
"No FI document was generated for the asset transaction" and subsequently after clicking the 'post'button' an error"No unique header information transferred into Accounting
Message no. RW001
Diagnosis: The interface into Accounting requires:
Header data
Item data
Currency data
The header data is missing, or several items were transferred.
System Response
Processing of the data in the Accounting interface is not possible.
Procedure
This is a system error of the application which was called up
So..............No idea how to get rid of this document.
Can anybody help?
Kind Regards,
ArjanHi Suresh,
Thanks for you feedback.
I had already tried your suggestion; it was the actions which I mentioned under the point (1) in my message.
The system did not generate any FI document, this is exactly the unexpected problem that I am trying to solve.
Any further suggestions?
Kind Regards,
Arjan -
AFAB Accidently posted into period 12.
Hi Expert,
My user accidently planned posting run into period 12 (which somehow the close coordinator open period 12).
And now user cannot do planned posting run for period 01. Can i reverse the planned posting run period 12?
This is the error message.
Period 001 is already posted
Message no. AAPO520
Diagnosis
You want to run the next planned run of the depreciation posting run in period 001. However, the last planned posting run was already performed for period 012.
System Response
The planned posting run cannot be performed. Processing terminates.
Procedure
You can either execute a repeat run in period 012, or a planned or unplanned run in a later periodHere you can ask the usser to post an unplanned depriciation i.e ABAA, for what he posted for period 12. and ask him to run in unplanned AFAB run when he is running for period 12.

Write up in Current financial year
Hi All,
We had done an unplanned depreciation in December and run depreciation also. Unplanned depreciation got posted. Now we want to reverse the unplanned depreciation by posting a write up in December only. System is throwing an error message saying "You cant post writeups". But if we try with some assets which are capitalised in last fiscal year, it is allowing writeups. Could someone tell me the wayout to post write ups for assets capitalised in current fiscal year?
Regards
SureshPaul is correct. Asset acquired in current fiscal year does not have Accum Deprec, so no write-up is possible. Workaround would be to create a custom t-type. copy paste your unplanned deprec t-type and make it a "Debit" transaction which will work as write-up. See if this works!

Unable to post depreciation run - AFAB
Dear All,
I have a AUC with capitalisation date 16.06.2011. On 4.02.2011, I have wrongly depreciated the AUC. On realising my mistake, I changed the Depreciation key to 'MANU' from '0000' and posted a transaction with Transaction Type '640 - Unplanned depreciation on prior-year acquisitions. Now when I try to execute the depreciation run for period 1 - 2012, which was terminated, I am still getting the error - 'Account 'Accumulated dep. account unpl. deprec.' could not be found for area 01'.
Diagnosis
When creating the accounting document, the system could not find account 'Accumulated dep. account unpl. deprec.' in depreciation area 01 for company code XXXX.
Procedure
Enter this account in the account determination for Asset Accounting.
Since this is an AUC account, account determination to a GL is not appropiate.
Kindly suggest how to proceed, as I am unable to complete my depreciation run.
Thanks
RosalynHello Konnipati,
Issue is not yet resolved.
The details of the issue are as follows:
1) The user has changed the depreciation key from '0000 to 'MANU' in
one of the AUC and posted unplanned dep. in ABSO transaction.
2) The dep.run was executed for the month end close on the same day.
3) The dep run got terminated with the error
message: 'Account 'Accumulated dep. account unpl. deprec.' could not be
found for area 01' Message no. AU133.
4) The user realised the mistake and reversed the unplanned
depreciation document immediately.
5) Then they tried to execute the 'RESTART' dep. run. But the system is
still showing the same error message.
6) We changed the dep.key from 'MANU' to '0000' in AUC master.
We replicated this scenario in Quality. We tried to resolve the error
by transfering the AUC to new AUC in the same Asset Class.
The values of the AUC got posted to the new AUC without any
depreciation and the old AUC got deactivated.
We then executed the RESTART depreciation run, but we still get the
same error.
6) Since this is a AUC, we cannot assign any GL accounts.
Please let us know your suggestions to resolve the error message in the
depreciation run.
Thanx

After turning back depreciation SAP is extending the UL of the assets
Dear Experts,
I have a situation where I had the assets shutdown for several periods and changed depreciation key to zero because my system is using weighting periods and days method. Now need to turn depreciation back For the situation when I turn depreciation back on - I have performed the following steps:
1. Created new interval to have the depreciation start back on (2 months after the asset was shut down)
2. Change depr keys back to ZSTL from 0000
3. Reversed the unplanned depr that was taken when the asset was shut down via AB08.
What SAP is doing is extending the UL of the assets by 2-3 months past the time that the asset should be fully depreciated. What I expect SAP to do is to increase the depreciation expense going forward after the asset was turned back ON while the remaining UL stays exactly the same (in other words I expect SAP to amortize the remaining NBV over the remaining UL keeping in mind that for 2 months this asset should not have been depreciating because it was turned OFF).
Do you have any suggestions for me?
Thanks,
JessiePlease read up on asset shutdown in the SAP Help. What you described is standard functionality. Since the asset was not used for a specific period of time in essence the life of the asset was extended by that same period.
If the system were to catch up the depreciation for the months when the asset was shutdown then in reality the asset would never have been shutdown. -
Hi Guys,
We have a GL account which is a recon account for Assets for Acquisition and Production Costs.
Now, we want to change this GL account by removing the " Reconciliation Account " indicator and then , post manually to this account using Transaction FB01.
Similarly we want to remove the " recon account " indicator from another GL account which is for accumulated depreciation account and then make the postings manually using transaction FB01.
Will this in any way affect the system?
Please suggest.
Thanks,
Srik.Dear,
Try below in your test system if it does not work then you can go ahead with what you have decided....
Use transaction ABAA and post it and when at the month end you run depriciation, it will post the Unplanned depriciation posted by you.

How to reverse depriciation posted to an asset
Dear All,
how to reverse depriciation posted to an asset, since the ependiture posted is not captial but revenue, after reversing how to delete the the asset values and reverse the purchase doc so that it can be poste das revenue expenditureHello surya
if an asset has been capitalized by "accident" we have the following options:
- change depreciation key to 0000 (this corrects the depreciation in fiscal year open in AM)
- if aquisition has been carried out in prior closed fiscal years: post a write up in current fiscal year(because you have to correct the depreciation of prior years, the dep is wrong - and maybe unauthorized) TC abzu
- now post a scrapping TC ABAVN
Now the asset history sheet and the values of the GL are correct.
What do you think about my idea?
Best regards

Reverse Unplanned Depreciation
Hello Gurus,
The business is trying to close the Fixed Assets Year and before doing that they want to reverse unplanned depreciation for an asset. Can someone kindly advice how this could be performed? Is there a standard tcode to do so?
Thanks in advance!
YJHi:
You can do that using ABS0. This is the only way to reverse unplanned depreciation. Create a new entry with ABSO and a transaction type which is the opposite of the one you are using . Enter then the same values in depreciation areas you put for your unplanned depreciation. e.g If you have posted your unplanned depreciation with transaction type '600' (debit transaction), create a transaction type 'Z00' 'Reverse unplanned depreciation' with 'credit transaction' and use it in ABSO transaction. Hope it will help you.
