RMI server fails on a few PCs, works on others

I have a small RMI server, started on various PC, to which a UNIX server connects to send them messages.
On each PC I have :
- An RMI registry.
- A Java RMI server, ready to receive messages from the UNIX machine.
All the PC are running Win NT 4 SP6, and the JRE 1.3.1.
On some PC, when the RMI server receives a RMI call from the UNIX machine, I get this error on the UNIX side :
java.rmi.UnmarshalException: Error unmarshaling return; nested exception is:
java.io.InvalidClassException: pop2PcServer_Stub; Local class not compat
ible: stream classdesc serialVersionUID=2 local class serialVersionUID=385818717

at sun.rmi.registry.RegistryImpl_Stub.lookup(RegistryImpl_Stub.java:107)
at java.rmi.Naming.lookup(Naming.java:60)
at pop2Pc.main(pop2Pc.java:41)
It happens every time when these specific PCs are involved.
I tried everything : the programs don't use a security manager, the PC part starts the registry itself (instead of relying on a separate rmiregistry process). Whatever I do. I can't make the RMI process work correctly on these PC.
I really don'ty understand, because my program is identical in every case.

Unfortunately, this is already the case. The classe have been all compiled on the Unix server, and every time they are all bundled in a jar file which is on every PC the same.
On all the PC I also bundle the JRE 1.3.1 in a subdirectory of my program. With the PATH and CLASSPATH variables I directly point to it, as well as to the jar file.

  • Why can't I get my mail, I get a message "connection to server failed" but I can get on all other web sites.  It worked fine until about a month ago.

    WHY CAN'T I GET MY MAIL, I GET A MESSAGE 'CONNECTION TO SERVER FAILED" BUT I CAN GET ON ALL OTHER WEB SITES.  IT WORKED FINE UNTIL ABOUT A MONTH AGO.  I CANCELLED MY ACCOUNT, PUT MY INFO IN AGAIN AND STILL GET THE MESSAGE "CONNECTION TO SERVER FAILED"  HELP PLEASE!

    have you tried removing and readding the e-mail account? sometimes settings get corrupted or changed on the server end...something computers can sometimes handle better than the mail interface.

  • HT1937 Hi my email is not working it says" Cannot gel mail...The connection to the server failed" but my network is working ok is the only application failing...how can I solve the problem?

    Hi, my mail applicatin is not working properly. It says cannot get main...the connection to the server failed but everything else is working ok. How can I solve this problem?

    The connectivity test indicated that there was a problem with the user's ActiveSync folder, typically fixed by checking the box "Allow inheritable permissions ...".
    Since it already was checked and even by removing the inherited permissions and then re-inheriting them didn't do the trick, I ended up just deleting the whole thing and then made a new duplicate account and blank mailbox.  That was pretty drastic
    but it fixed the problem.  After restoring his mailbox contents from backup, the user is now a happy camper.
    The connectivity test tool was helpful because the external URL was blank so I filled in the URL.  But ActiveSync was working fine for everybody without the URL before although I don't know why it did work without it.
    The other funny thing is on one of my iPads I am able to synch my mailbox and also the user's mailbox but on another iPad it just wouldn't synchronize when it worked before I added the external URL.  The iPads have the same OS version so I
    just don't understand it.  Oh well.
    Thanks for your help.  That was a good tip!

  • MySQL Connection in RMI Server failed

    I have a problem with connecting to hosts in RMI and i reckon the problem's with the policy file, but I can't get it right. Here's the error I got when I was running the program:
    Exception.getMessage()
    Unable to connect to any hosts due to exception: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.util.PropertyPermission file.encoding read)
    I need my RMI server to connect to port 3316 on the same machine, so that it can listen to clients requesting for data, and connect to the database on localhost:3316 to retrieve the relevant data from the MySQL database.
    The contents of my policy are:
    grant {
    permission java.net.SocketPermission "*:1024-65535",
    "connect,accept";
    Please help me with this problem. I need it quite urgently. If you require me to add in additional information, please reply and I'll post them up. Thanks a lot.

    Yo I got it to run. Just in case anyone might need it, I've changed the policy to:
    grant {
    permission java.net.SocketPermission "*:1024-65535",
    "connect,accept";
    permission java.util.PropertyPermission "file.encoding",
    "read";
    and it works. hope anyone that runs into this problem gets help ^^

  • Printer GPOs fail on some computers but work on others - error code 0x80070034

    Hello, I have a couple of GPOs that roll our printers. They have been running smoothly for quite some time, then suddenly started giving our errors on our newer machines. Meaning, the GPOs will work fine on some clients but will not work on others. Also
    all other GPOs work fine on all clients. The clients are similar Lenovo Windows 7 64-bit machines.
    This is the error: Event ID: 4098, Group Policy Printers. The computer '123.123.123.123' preference item in the 'Deploy printers - {3F6DE6D0-86DC-4D1F-AB99-81BC07F23F3C}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070034 You
    were not connected because a duplicate name exists on the network. If joining a domain, go to System in Control Panel to change the computer name and try again. If joining a workgroup, choose another workgroup name.' This error was suppressed.
    I turned every stone I could think of on the problematic machines but cannot find out a reason. I disabled anti-virus/firewall, I logged in as domain admin and I tried both user & computer GPOs. No luck. Notice that I can successfully connect manually
    to the Printer shares (the ones used to distribute the drivers).
    Domain is Win2008 R2. The printers "live" on a Win2012 machine and the drivers come from there. I am using Group Policy Preferences. Ideas are welcome.
    Thanks
    Christos

    Hello and thanks for the suggestion. Yes the drivers are okay, all clients (working and not) run the same Win 7 x64. Let me summarize the situation:
    - The GPO runs because the printer IP ports are created
    - The Printer Shares (that distribute the drivers) are accessible because the printer is installed without any problems/warnings if I manually double click on them (the shares)
    - Security prompts for driver installs are disabled
    I also noticed the following. The error says "The computer '123.123.123.123' preference item in the Group Policy object ... etc" The IP mentioned in that error is NOT the computer/client running the GPO but the IP address of the target printer.
    So the client thinks the Printer already exists or the IP is already taken (or something of that sort).

    Hi ehamzic1,
    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
    I understand how frustrating it can be when your computer cannot connect to the internet. In your situation, you will need to isolate to find what is causing the issues connecting. I would recommend reading over and working through the attached article. The article should help you troubleshoot and resolve this situation.

  • Query fails in BI Pub but works in other interfaces

    I have a query that fails in BI Publisher with an 'ORA-00920: invalid relational operator' error but I drop the same query in toad and it works fine. I don't see an error but when one tool tells me something works and another tells me it doesn't, I tend to believe the one that works. There is a case statement in the where clause that seems to be the problem (see below). If I comment it out the query works in BI Pub. The case statement WORKS in Toad. I don't know how to troubleshoot a 'non-error' to make it work in in BI Publisher. Could it be a Toad thing?

    "Connection to LDAP server failed."
    Prevously it was working well with coldfusionMX. After installed Coldfusion8 I am facing this problem.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
    Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

    My MBA indicates my connection is timing out. My wifi on other laptops work in the house. Diagnostics indicate wifi settings failed, network settings failed, ISP failed, Internet failed, and server failed. What can I do?

    Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved. Some of these steps are only possible if you have control over the wireless router.
    Step 1
    Turn Wi-Fi off and back on.
    Step 2
    Restart the router and the computer. Many problems are solved that way.
    Step 3
    Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
    Step 4
    Run the Network Diagnostics assistant.
    Step 5
    In OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and fix the issues listed in the Summary, if any.
    Step 6
    Back up all data.
    Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
    Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.
    Step 7
    You may need to change other settings on the router. See the guidelines linked below:
    Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    Potential sources of interference
    Step 8
    Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    Step 9
    Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).

  • I am having a problem accessing my Yahoo email account.  It keeps saying, cannot get mail, the connection to the server failed.  Then I put my email in settings and it works but this happens constantly.  Anyone having this problem?

    My Yahoo email asks me daily for my email password or says the connection to the server failed.  Is anyone having this problem currently?  I noticed old messages in chat mentioned the same problem.  I get into my Yahoo email fine on my desktop computer for several weeks without re entering a password.  But the IPad does not seem to be connecting daily with Yahoo without putting a password in again.

    So, I didn't change anything and now it is working better. I still get the odd error though.
    I have a feeling this has something to do with the SSL update Apple released and it was their server side.

  • HT2480 Ipad mini - exchange email stopped working randomly  Error: "Cannot get mail. The connection to the server failed."

    I got an iPad mini over Christmas and have had no issues setting up/managing my email until yesterday. I've had my Exchange email working for almost a month, and yesterday I stopped getting emails and getting the error: "Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server failed."
    I tried resetting the device (multiple times) and deleting and recreating the Exchange account (multiple times). This is getting annoying because it worked fine up until yesterday. I'm not aware of any updates to the device, or any changes that have occurred since yesterday.

    Due to a screen issue, I had my iPhone 5 replaced two days ago. I repeated deleted the mail account and kept adding it but this did not make any difference. When I attempted to setup the new phone with my Google (Gmail via exchange active sync) accounts I was receiving this same "Cannot Get Mail" error. From what I was able to gather, this problem should be affecting Gmail accounts set up via Exchange. When originally purchasing the phone I was assisted and directed to set up my Gmail account through Exchange because it had the ability to use "ActiveSync" and push not only mail and calendars, but all of my contacts as well. I found this article regarding the subject.
    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2413283,00.asp
    What it came down to was having to delete my Gmail via Exchange account and separate it into two different accounts, a regular gmail account for my mail and a CardDAV account for my contacts.
    Here is what I did. Google is changing their system and for new registrars Exchange ActiveSync will not work so you will be unable to register your account via Exchange and have your mail, calenders, and contacts all pushed together. I find this change really annoying. If you are having problems accessing your contacts after deleting the mail account, like I was, here is the work around.
    To circumvent this issue go to Setting > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Other > Add CardDAV Account: Under server ender google.com, then your email user name and password, then click next to verify the information.
    I hope this helps.
