RMI totally broken on Websphere & AS/400

I am trying to bind an object to a port using
Websphere on the IBM AS/400 and it totally
does not work. I developed on Win2K and
it works fine, an exception

I know that object is in the classpath, because it is in the jar and the jar works on Win2K.
I think the problem may be the configuration of Websphere.
Any ideas on configuring Websphere to enable RMI?

Okay, I know it's 4 years later and it did not take me 4 years to figure out what the problem was (OMG) but I thought I'd post what I figured out.
It turns out that the two java programs that were trying to communicate (via RMI) were running on different JRE versions. Now, I know that RMI is SUPPOSED to work between JRE versions, and it seems to on Windows but it does not on the AS/400. We got the program we were trying to communicate with going on the same JRE version and everything has been working fine for years!

Root RAID-1 support totally broken in Solaris 10

Has anyone else noticed yet that support for recovery of a RAID-1 on the root partition is totally broken under Solaris 10? While one can set up a set of RAID-1 partitions for /, swap and /export/home under Solaris 10 in the same manner as Solaris 9 and the resulting RAID-1 is functional, its recovery process is not! If you power down the machine and remove one of the IDE drives making up the RAID-1 (each on their own IDE bus of course), the machine will kernel panic as expected on bootup. However unlike Solaris 9 which allows you to still login to delete the metastat database from the missing drive, Solaris 10 immediately reboots the machine upon the kernel panic. This makes the use of RAID-1 not only non-functional but actually dangerous since it doubles the chance that you will have a drive failure which will make the machine unbootable. Back to Solaris 9 for me.

Solaris 10 root RAID-1 support totally broken!

I have been configuring Sun Blade 1500 with two IDE drives (each on their own IDE bus) as RAID-1 for the /, swap and /export/home partitions. This has worked well and I have always been able to test the RAID-1 recovery ability of such a configuration. However I am very unhappy to report that this functionality to totally broken in Solaris 10. For example, if you disconnect the second IDE drive of the RAID and reboot, the machine kernel panics as expected. However unlikeSolaris 9, which still allows you to login for maintanence and to delete the metastat database entries for the missing drive (thus making the machine bootable without a kernel panic), under Solaris 10 the system simply restarts immediately upon the kernel panic, This makes the RAID-1 system more than just useless but actually dangerous since it now doubles the probabity that you will had a drive failure and end up with an unbootable machine. I am very glad I tested the RAID-1 recovery ability before I installed this machine. Back to Solaris 9 for me!

Perhaps the problem is the mount at boot flag set to no for the /devel /prod and /export/home filesystems? If your system is up try mounting these filesystems, if that works, set the mount at boot flag to yes.

Can I have Group1 totals broken down by group3 database field?

I get requests to create reports with the following type format, and with more group levels each needing totals broken down. I have been able to create these reports using arrays and doing it all myself without features of Crystal reports. Is there a simple way to do this using Crystal reports features.

When I set up the cross tab group 3 shows the break down but group 2 and group 1 just shows one total line. I want to see the same break out as group 3 shows. If I can do it using a crosstab you will have to explain to me how to. It would make like a lot simpler for me.

Iphone 5, totally broken

I've had my iphone 5 since December 2013, around june i took it to apple because the lock button was not working and thankfully they replaced it for free. aroung a week ago i dropped my iphone for the first time without the otterbox and it completely cracked the screen, i was devestated, but when i got in the car i put my phone in the cup holder and drove home, when i arrived at home while i was using my phone i realized it was a little wet, so i turned it off and put it in rice for a few days, when i turned it back on it told me to connect it to itunes and when i did it said it needed to be restored, but it never completed and it totally turned off and it wont even come up with the connect to itunes. i don't know what to do. i would really appreciate any help

When I go to Internet Accounts and add my google account, Calendar never works. It tries to connect and fails. Console log shows:

How can I get my calendar working again? This is really important to me.

This did not help. Having Calendar.app active or inactive seems to have no bearing on the calendar sync function working.
As the console indicates, the request times out, which means either googles servers are broken, or the calendar integration features are looking in the wrong place.
I've read up on the caldav api as supplied by google and tried to implement it directly using a caldav account in the calendar account preferences, but i have had no success.

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I THINK ITS TOTALLY BROKEN!!!!

I left it to charge for 5 friggen hours and i wake up and i see that like ink exploded in the interior. . . i dun know what to do, i think its permanently broken and i dont have a warranty . . . any ideas? I see like a stray of ink or something in the interior of the screen. Lately, its been going away, but thats not doing me any good, as i can hear the click wheel but cant see the screen and occasionally the backlight shows up. I have no idea what to do, i'm very ****** right now. Any ideas at all?

I have changed several screens, it is not that hard if you have some mech ability. You can get screens on ebay for under 20 dollars. there are several tutortials that will walk you through it. Instructions and a tutortial site are included as well as the take apart tools. You will need a small mangnetic (it will work best) phillips and a small flat blade screwdriver and a little patience. Just go slow and follow the instructions and in a hour or so you will have a new screen.

Finder totally broken. Just spits out the alert sound over and over

Some times Finder works, and some times it doesn't. If I'm lucky and it works at start up, with in an hour or two it's back to not working.
When it doesn't work, Finder just spits out the alert sound over and over non-stop, and some times also spits out another type of sound at the same time, even with the keyboard unplugged.
I also can't use the drop-down options, move files, or change settings that require a password. When trying to type, you get one or two letters in, and it then quickly closes.
It just suddenly started doing this.

Icloud mail totally broken...

Hey folks,
for the last 3 days i am totally unable to access my icloud mailbox.
It was moved from me.com to icould last month and everything worked fine beside some Thunderbird
problems. But this weekend the disaster started. No access via iPhone, no Access via iCloud.com, no
access via Thunderbird..
Though my login to icloud.com itself succeeds and calenders etc. are alright. Just the mail app is stating that
it can't be run. On iphone it tells me that my username or password are wrong, which they obvious are NOT.
Sending EMails to the account doesn't result in a bounce, so i assume incoming mails are accepted but who knows.
The Apple Status page states that everything is fine, up and runnin.
Can anyone else confirm these problems? I'm accessing from Germany (if this makes a difference).
How can I contact apple to check this problem? On the homepage i always end in a "please pay for your incident"
which i deny as the problem is not on my side for sure.
I'm using this account quite a lot and I'm afraid of missing important messages.

Well, waiting and being patient is quite frustrating. I'm heavily using this mail account and it's not only for private purpose.I mean, as always they have promised icloud to be the solve of all problems mankind can imagine, and as often it results in more problems than before..
I really consider dropping this whole .mac / .me / .icloud stuff. I don't expect this (now free) service to be up 100% but a company like apple should show a bit more openess on such problems. Not always denying them.
But as I need my mails that are already on this stormy clould I have to wait anyway..

Latest nvida drivers for 2000M are totally broken.

Since reinstalling from the rescue disks, then updating all drivers, my machine is unusable.
Before I had bios 1.32, now I have 1.38. I had an old version of the nvidia drivers, now I have the latest (8.17.12.9620)
Displayport no longer works. I.e. when I boot, it sees the names of they 2 attached displayport monitors on the doc, but they are greyed out with low resolution, and windows-P cannot switch to them. A workaround was to boot up, then put the machine to sleep, then wake it, then it could correctly see the 2 displays and I could use them. Now that doesnt work either - I have £3000 worth of dell 30" monitors I cant use.
So I dug out an old VGA monitor so I could at least use something.
When I booted with this attached, it recognised it and extended my display, but set my 1080p internal panel to 1280x800, and no option to increase it. So I disconnected the VGA, and set it to use internal panel only. But its stuck at 1280x800, thats the max the windows resoution dialog will let me increase it too. So I tried the sleep/wake trick, but its still stuck at 1280x800. So I had to reboot with the VGA monitor unplugged.
So thats it. I cant use the W520 with any external monitor. Its a huge disaster - I cant work.

do you feel confident in trying to back-level the BIOS to rule out 1.38? and, just curious... what fixes were you looking to get with the 1.32 --> 1.38 update? there sure are a good number oof fixes listed.

Sno Leo 10.6.1 has busted Safari 4.0.3 and it cannot be reinstalled with Sno Leo running. What the h'ay?
It's all because Mercury is in retrograde and it won't let up until October.

I like to do the easy stuff first, before I start whining.
I've troubleshot Mac's and the Mac OS since '84. So I know sometimes you have to get Apple's attention. There is a problem with Snow Leopard that needs to be addressed.

Smart Playlists totally broken under iTunes 10.7

Hi all --
OS X 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.7.
My smart playlists have abruptly stopped updating altogether (they have all of the contents they used to).
The only thing I've found that has any effect is if I go into Edit Smart Playlist and check limit to 25 songs, the playlist becomes completely blank. If I then uncheck the same setting, it remains blank.
Just tried reinstalling iTunes 10.7, no luck.
Anyone else seen this? It's very frustrating!

I am running 10.7 (on Windows) and Smart Playlists are working correctly.
