Robocopy deleted SOURCE folder using MIR option

I am migrating a customer file server share from a windows 2003 server to a windows 2012 R2 server.  This is the second time I've found some source folders missing when using the MIR option.
I did an initial copy last weekend, all went fine.  I then did a second copy, which should do a file/directory compare and re-copy or delete in destination server's root folder if needed.  Both copy operations were performed on the destination
server.  Below is the command I used:
\\xenshare\publicreadonly" d:\PublicReadOnly\ *.* /E /ZB /SEC /COPYALL /MIR /R:2 /W:30 /V /ETA /LOG+:d:\filecopy-publicreadyonly.log /TEE
I checked this morning to find 6 missing folders on the source server under the root folder I specified, which I was trying to preserve before decommissioning the old server.  The log file shows no indication that anything was deleted.  Can anyone
explain why the instruction specifies nothing would be deleted in the source folder using MIR option but I have files missing?  And NO, I did not have any empty source or destination folders either and the domain admin account I used had full rights to
all folders.

Hi Ronnieshih,
If you want to audit what was happening to those deleted folders, and to make a further troubleshoot, I would like to recommend you to create a test folder, If this issue can be reproduced, please refer to these steps to monitor:
1.  please try to enable audit on the source folder:
[1] Configure "audit object access" in AD Group Policy or on the server's local GPO. This setting is located under Computer Configuration-->Windows Settings-->Security Settings-->Local Policies-->Audit Policies. Enable success/failure auditing
for "Audit object access."
[2] Configure an audit entry on the specific folder(s) that you wish to audit. Right-click on the folder-->Properties-->Advanced. From the Auditing tab, click Add, then enter the users/groups whom you wish to audit and what actions you wish to audit
- auditing Full Control will create an audit entry every time anyone opens/changes/closes/deletes a file, or you can just audit for Delete operations.
2.  Please run process monitor on the source machine to capture the activities against the source files, since this issue is random with time, this method may produce a large size of log file.
Best Regards,
Anna Wang

  • Deleting a folder with files in it

Is it possible to do this with the  'delete' folder/file activity?
I have tried this and not been successful.
Is this possible or do I need to clean up the files and folders in the folder I want to delete before I can delete  the folder
    using this activity?
    Thanks
    Carmen

I save files on a network share and just do a plain old FileService.deleteDirectory.  Maybe make sure you have a "\" as the last character in your directory path.

  • Cut a folder using command + x option

trying to cut a specific folder using command + x option bt could not able perform the operation. While i select command and x option after selecting a specific folder it throws back annoying BIP  noise ,definitely rejecting the command...FYI..i can cut copy paste any word document ...

MadlyBrown said "...FYI..i can cut copy paste any word document ..."
I took that to imply MadlyBrown wanted Cut & Paste of a file.
Niel gave the Mac way: Command-C, then Command-Option-V
    Moof666 gave a hacky Windows way: Command-C, Command-Delete, then Command-V
I mostly whined that Command-Delete by itself was not strictly Command-X in the Windows sense.

  • Using "Deleted Items" folder for long term storage.

I have a user that is using the "Deleted Items" folder in Outlook for long-term storage.  He has unchecked the box in the options which would remove the items in the Deleted Items folder at shutdown
and is having problems with his Outlook freezing up several times a day.  He was using a Microsoft Surface as his primary computer and has since changed to a Dell Latitude, but Outlook still freezes up.  He has an Office 365 Pro Plus license.
I have been looking for articles to explain all the reasons for not using "Deleted Items" for storage, but in order to get him to change, This is not a .pst, it is the Outlook default “Deleted Items”.
.  I really need some "ammunition" to let him know the consequences of keep that much mail in Deleted Items.
Could you tell me when Outlook starts, does it enumerate the Deleted Items folder as it does the Inbox?

I have to agree with Robert's point here. The question of whether or not the user should be doing this answers itself: of course he shouldn't. On a lighter note there's a Dilbert cartoon from 2003 which covers this very point:
    http://dilbert.com/strips/comic/2003-11-13/
I'd suggest you ask him to create a sub-folder of his inbox and get him to move everything over, then he still has his history and can use deleted items the way it was intended.
The question I would ask is are you sure that this has any bearing on his Outlook freezing issue? I have encountered people who never empty their recycle bin and I have encountered issues with Outlook freezing, but I don't recall ever having the two together.
If you still have issues after he's moved everything then it's a general Outlook freezing issue, so you have to look at those sort of things. For a start, is it bang up to date with Microsoft Updates? If so how big is his mailbox? Presumably he has an ost
file, so how big and fragmented is that? I'd probably try creating a new Outlook profile. If not then what add-ins does he have, could they all be disabled for a while to see if it's one of them, then add them back one at a time? If not is it worth running
a repair in Office? I've had that fix a fair few issues.
Just a few thoughts. I don't know if any of them will help.

Any Tutorial / Sample to create Single PDF from multiple source files using PDF assembler in a watched folder process. I have a client application which will prepare number of source files and some meta data information (in .XML) which will be used in header/footer. Is it possible to put a run time generated DDX file in the watch folder and use it in Process. If possible how can I pass the file names in the DDX. Any sample Process will be very helpful.

If possible, make use of Assembler API in your client application instead of doing this using watched folder. Here are the Assembler samples :  LiveCycle ES2.5 * Programming with LiveCycle ES2.5
Watched folder can accept zip files (sample : Configuring a watched folder to handle multiple input files and write results to a single folder | Adobe LiveCycle Blog ). You can also use execute script to create the DDX at runtime : LiveCycle ES2 * Application Development Using LiveCycle Workbench ES2

I have a MacBook Air and I use "Notes" when I delete a folder it comes back. How do I permanently delete it?

it all depends on what's running in the macbook air that causes it to heat up.
open activity monitor - change my processes to all processes - and on the %CPU, click it twice and see what running using 10% and above in the %CPU section.
highlight anything that are using high CPU percentage and hit quit process.  see if that brings the temperature back down to normal.
screenshot below is my activity monitor - have a look at it - nothing over 10% on the %CPU section.

  • Problem on PC: During import, I can locate the sources folder however the photo do not display. Was working fine.

Problem on PC: During import, I can locate the sources folder however the photo do not display. Was working fine. All file types, Lightroom is no longer recognising the images to import, The panel that usually displays them remains empty.  Try using backup versions, removing software that could conflict , still no joy, has anyone had this problem?

    Did you follow this procedure?
Our iTunes guru Terence Devlin advises the following:
    1. Quit iTunes
    2. Drag the iTunes folder from your internal hd - located in ~/Music folder - to your external hd. DO NOT delete the original one from your internal hd... yet!
    3. When the transfer is complete, press and hold the Option(alt) key and fire up iTunes.
    4. A "Choose iTunes Library" window will come up. Click on the "Choose Library" button.
    5. Navigate to where the iTunes folder is located in the external hd.
    6. Within the iTunes folder, select the iTunes Library file and click Choose...
That's it. iTunes will now display all your playlists, songs, movies, podcasts etc. At this point, should you wish, you can delete the iTunes folder from the internal hd to free up space.

  • How to delete a folder having "access is denied"

    sir my problem is:
i had created 3 folders "updates" ,  "mount" and "win8.1" and extracted the windows 8.1 image into win8.1 folder and msu files in "update" folder.
using DISM command i have mounted it as:
    c:\>Dism  /mount-wim  /wimfile:c:\win8.1\sources\install.wim  /index:1  /mountdir:c:\mount
it is mounted successfully but suddenly my computer shut down and when i restarted the computer then i have deleted the win8.1 folder (also from recycle bin) now i am unable to delete the "mount" folder.
Is there any way to delete "mount" folder?

What error message are you getting?
If you login to windows you should be able to take ownership of the folder (assuming you have admin rights)
right click the folder, select properties, select security, click advanced.  On the top of the tab will be the current owner and the option to change owner.  Take ownership  of the folder.  Delete folder

  • Get JPG save as source folder icon ?

I posed this in scripting but might be more suitable in this forum.
    Hello Everyone,
I would like to use a script to set the source folder icon by selecting an image.
after much searching i found this. (but it's to long of GUI process)
    This one worked perfectly!
    --CODE (for AppleScript Studio script)
set srcpath to POSIX path of (choose file with prompt "Choose source image file.")
set dstpath to POSIX path of (choose folder with prompt "Choose target folder.")
--set dstpath to dstpath's text 1 thru -2 -- remove last slash if necessary.
    setIcon(srcpath, dstpath)
    on setIcon(srcpath, dstpath)
set nsimg to load image srcpath
set nswks to call method "sharedWorkspace" of class "NSWorkspace"
    set r to call method "setIcon:forFile:options:" of nswks with parameters {nsimg, dstpath, 0}
    delete nsimg
    return r
    end setIcon
    --END OF CODE
I don't want to interact with it. Just a simple CTRL click (Contextual Menu Item).
Currently have no Idea where to go with this. Any Thought?

If you're open to the idea of using GUI scripting, you might try creating an Automator workflow comprised of a single action: *Run AppleScript* (from the Automator library).
Replace the pre-populated text in the Run AppleScript action's text area with the script below:
    *on run {input, parameters}*
    *tell application "Finder"*
*set theSelection to selection as alias*
*set theImage to choose file with prompt "Choose source image file." without invisibles*
    *tell application "Preview" to activate*
*tell application "Preview" to open theImage*
    *tell application "System Events"*
    *tell process "Preview"*
    *keystroke "c" using command down*
    *end tell*
    *tell application "Preview" to quit*
*delay 1 -- adjust as needed*
    *set theFolder to theSelection*
    *tell application "Finder"*
    activate
    *reveal theFolder*
    *end tell*
    *tell process "Finder"*
    *keystroke "i" using command down*
    *keystroke tab*
    *keystroke "v" using command down*
    *keystroke "w" using command down*
*delay 1 -- adjust as needed*
    *keystroke "w" using command down*
    *end tell*
    *end tell*
    *end tell*
    *return input*
    *end run*
From Automator's File menu choose Save As Plug-in > Plug-in for: Finder, and give it a name such as "Set Folder Image."
To invoke the action, right-click or Control-click on a desired source folder and select the "Set Folder Image" plug-in from the contextual menu, under Automator. When the Choose-a-File dialog appears, navigate to the desired image file, select it, and press Choose.
Note that as GUI scripting is used here, you'll need to make sure that under System Preferences > Universal Access, "Enable access for assistive devices" is checked.
If you find that the script stalls before Preview quits, or if the two Finder windows which are meant to open fail to close before the workflow completes, try increasing the delay times where indicated.
The plug-in worked for me in Tiger; untested in Leopard, your results may vary... Good luck.
