    Role in SAP Implementation:
    SAP Implementation is the whole of processes that defines a complete method to
    implement SAP software in an organization. It is based on best practices and case studies from various literature sources and presents a collection of processes and products that make up a complete implementation method to allow any organization to plan and execute the implementation of SAP (ERP) software. The SAP implementation process is made up out of four main phases, i.e. the project preparation where a vision of the future-state of the SAP solution is being created, a sizing and blueprinting phase where the solution stack is created and training is being performed, a functional development phase and finally a final preparation phase, when the last tests are being performed before the actual go live.
    ABAP Developer Role is to prepare the Technical Specification (based on a Functional Specification given by a Functional Consultant), build the code, Review the code and finally to prepare the Unit Test Cases. Sometimes ABAPer may be asked to do a technical research for an optimal solution.
    Role in SAP Support:
    After a go live, the application needs a maintenance/support to resolve the issues/tickets raised by the users when using the application. Ticket is like a request for changes/bug fixing or a request for a new ABAP Developer Role includes bug fixing/change the existing code due to new requirements/build a new code etc.
    Role in SAP Upgrade:
    SAP Upgrade is nothing but upgrading the software with a superior version which has got more advantages when compared to the earlier version.
    ABAP Developer Role is to go through transactions SPAU/SPDD to compare the old and new version of the change and finally need to activate the relevant one. Some times might need to work on SAP notes too.

    What is the role of resource breakdown structure while running project cost allocations? Is it possible that targets in the allocation process gets the cost allocated to the resources in RBS which is same for source as well as target projects?

    The resource breakdown structure (RBS) is used in the system to summarize the amounts from the lowest level leaf to the grouping / parent levels.
    You can use a summarized amount of certain node on the RBS, per your source project, as the source amount that will be allocated.
    On the target projects the allocation transactions are created as expenditure items. Those expenditure items will be on target project and task, using the expenditure type and expenditure organization you have setup for the allocation rule.

    Hi All,
    I had performed the Basic configuration in solution manager.Unfortunately for development system I had selected the leading role of the system as production.I want to change it to development.Is there any way I can change that?
    Also If the Leading role for solman is set as production.Can I add my development and QA system to it?

    Hi Ravi,
    Not to worry, you can change the leading role for your system.
    To change the system role to any other that is relevant in your landscape:
    Go to transaction SOLAR01 > Click on the first level of the Project Name (Under Business Blueprint Structure) to select the Project.
    Click Business Blueprint in the Menu > System Role > Choose the relevant System Role (in your case Development)
    Click Copy
    This should replicate to all nodes and then you should be able to assign transaction to the business processes.
    If not, there is a similar work around which also works.
    Go to transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN
    System Landsacpe Tab
    Systems subtab
    Click System Role Assignment
    Remove the Production System (or all those not relevant to your Project and Logical Components)
    Save Project
    Go to SOLAR01 and it should reflect it in the Blueprint.
    You can always go back to this and add the System Roles you removed and the Blueprint will reference the correct Role.
    You can also add any other Dev/QA systems to the logical component as required.

    In project preparation phase, all the details of the projects are set, who will be the project manager from implementors side and from client side, then the whole team is selected of both sides, some times there are interviews of consultants as well from the client, where client desides which consultants they want for there implementation.
    Then usually sign up of the project is done and sometimes presentation on every module is given as well if sign up and project start has big difference in dates.
    Then in blueprint phase, for AS-IS, you MM consultant and powerusers from client sit down and you jott down all the current settings of the client, here its decides and researched how there current system is configured, and what necessary settings are required for SAP i.e. how many plants, how many purchase  organisations,groups, how many material groups, what number ranges master record will follow, how many document types for PR,PO,contract, which additional processes are required i.e. Framework order, source lists, which type of mrp, subcontract, consigment process etc.
    Once you get all the data in AS-IS, you create blueprint based on this information which will contain every info, i.e. how many plants will be created, what numbers, how many storage locations with names and numbers for each plant, how many purchase organisation with details, purchase groups, document types of prs, pos, with number ranges, release strategy, and total process flow in this documentation and what can and what cant be configured in SAP, thus the TO BE stage. Here client views your document and if there are any reservations they are pointed out, if any deletion addition is needed to the document they are notified to the consultants, necessary changes are made to the blueprint and this up/down in changes keeps on going, until the blueprint is signed.
    Same above described process happens for all other modules as well, and once all module blueprints are signed, then begins the realization phase. Usually the blueprint phase in 6 months implementation last for 2 months.

    Is it standard functionality?
    For Example:
    Project Definition                        Responsible role as Project Lead.
         Phase_1                                 Responsible role  as Design Lead

              --> Task design2             Responsible role as Project Lead

    We are facing the problem with resource tab page.
    When User Click the resource tab page
    Runtime Errors         UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION
    Exception              CX_DPR_FATAL_ERROR
    with the Exception error
    "Invalid parameters were transferred when calling"
    We notice that the problem is happen because "Role is assigned to a task that is directly assigned to the project Definition"
    We test it also, it works without any run time error.
    We just want information that it is standard Functionality or not with some SAP Document to prove this.

    I need your suggestion on cost / revenue rate for multiple project roles type of the project elements. I am defining various project roles such as account manager / project manager / Team leader / Team members etc. which will be assigned to project. There will be different cost / revenue hourly rate for each role type. I have defined hourly cost / revenue rate for organisation management. But i oberved that hourly rate is getting copied to all type of role in project & the same is update as planned cost.
    Request you to suggest how to mainatin different hourly rate for various project roles in side project.

    Make sure you have done following settings
    SPRO>Collaboration Projects >Connection to External Systems>Accounting Integration>Define Cost/Revenue Rates
    here you define Cost revenue rates
    Now i feel you have assigned these rates in define Task types in SPRO>Cproj>structure>define task types
    in this case it ll take same cost revenue rates.
    you remove these
    and in SPRO >Collaboration Projects > Resource Management>Basic Settings for Project Roles> Role types
    assign the rates.
    clear the browser Cache, cookies.
    Make sure you log off and then try to create new Project with the settings
    It shd help.

  • SAP R/3 : Indirect Role assignments - Is position unique to every user?

    While am exploring /learning SAP R/3 roles and auth, I would appreciate if I could get clarity on the following :

    So if my understanding is correct, it is better to assign roles - indirectly by position, so that if an employee's position changes, his role can be removed, based on position again ??? And somewhere we are linking with infotype 105.
    My only doubt is : if we are going to assign roles by position and remove the roles by position, so that as the position of an employee changes, the previous roles become null and void and new roles can be assigned as per new position.
    So would like to know :
    as to whether this position number which we see from PA20, is unique to every user on the system ?
    So that, if there is a need to remove a role based on postion, we could remove the role from PO13;
    BY doing that, then will it not affect other users ?
    Can somebody help me understand this.
    Because if i want to see the effect immediately, if i go to PFUD and put the role name and say execute, i see that the role which was removed from PO13 is gone immediately from the user.

    Can you please help me understand this.
    I understand from HR person that position is uniquely defined (from hire to retire)
    and roles are generally given based on position.
    However, I see a person : whose roles have been assigned as per position all these years.
    He had 2 roles in project A. He now moved into a different project B.
    But. when i check, i still see the roles - reflecting on SU01  & well as in the tab of user of the role X under pfcg.
    BUT when i check PO13 - and put the position / relationship and say overview.
    I dont see the roles at all there.
    Why this is so.  Why the discrepancy on different screens.
    Also How can I get a confirmation that - these roles are actually removed and is not there for the user.
    Rather.
    How could the removal of roles based on position become completely effective on the system.
    So that all screens display the same information.
    Also would like to know - whether it is ok to remove the role expiry date directly from PFCG/ROLE Display/user tab/select user/
    and then make the role invalid or expired / or extend the expiry.

  • WCM Error while saving Project

    Hi,
    I am getting following error while saving new created project in cProject.
    Saving is not possible because the WFM Core data could not be adjusted
    Message no. PRP086
    Diagnosis
    When checking the project role or project role staffing, differences to the related WFM Core data were found. The project cannot be saved because the data cannot be adjusted. Possible causes for this include:
    The WFM Core is not installed locally. When working with the application, the WFM Core service is suddenly no longer available.
    The WFM Core configuration has been changed in Customizing.
    The WFM Core is only activated after projects have been created. During the automatic adjustment of data, it is determined that resources unknown in the WFM Core are assigned to existing project role staffing.
    When working with the application, an existing resource already assigned in the WFM Core is deleted.
    System Response
    The project cannot be saved.
    Procedure
    Contact the system administrator if the required resource is not known in the WFM Core. The project can be saved as soon as the resource is created.

    hi Atul,
    Are you using WFD server for your resource planning in cProjects???
    If yes, you have to do settings in customizing for the same in Workforce deployment server under Resource Management in cProjects.
    If not, then do following settings to remove the error you are getting:
    1) SPRO -> Collaboration Projects -> Resource management-> Business Partner-> Set Up Integration of HR,
    Maintain following setting:
    Group     Sem. abbr     Value abbr     Description
    HRALX     HRAC     X     Activate HR Integration
    2) SPRO -> Collaboration Projects ->  Resource management Qualification Management->  Activate Qualification Search and Matchup Using WFM Core
    In this, deactivate the use of WFD Core for the qualification match up and the search by deleting the X under Value abbr. in the activity Activate Qualification Match up and Search Using WFM Core.

  • What's going on with Project "Gateway" and Sybase?

    I've just returned from Teched in Berlin where I followed mostly the mobile track of sessions.
    I've come away alternately energised and confused. Each topic in its own right is clear, but piecing allthe components together is a different matter.
    Has anyone got opinions on the future role of project Gateway? I saw many sessions by Sybase on the SUP and only one which mentioned Gateway. Gateway didn't feature in the mobile strategy slides. However, I have seen material mentioning the future tie-up of the two. If this should happen, then how might they interact? And what future for the co-innovation platform?  Can we draw any conclusions on this yet?
    The instant value mobile apps session CD161 seems to build on top of the SAP Data Protocol (SDP), but thinking back, they didn't mention Gateway in there at all. And the co-innovation platform session was silent on both Gateway and SDP
    So does "Instant Value" equal "Project Gateway"? It can't be since the Sybase guys talk a lot about Instant Value. Are there two interpretations of this term within the organisation?
    Just hoping to kick off a general discussion on this subject. All opinions and replies welcome. Especially from insiders...

    Hi Steffan - good point. I kind of assumed that LMS is another term for Project Gateway... They seem to be addressing the same problem, and the architecture diagrams look qualitatively similar.  The CD121 Sybase slides also talk about the "SAP Mobile Connector", which might be yet another name for the same thing. I think you would know better than me since you've already built that thing you showed at the Demo Jam - what data consumption technology was your demo-ed app using?
    I get the impression that there have been a number of independent development streams within SAP which are only now being brought together. This manifests itself to us as mixed or incomplete messages. It's easy to see how at a teched, each group might be responsible for getting its own message out and not necessarily integrating into the overall message of the mobile strategy.
    So essentially there are two categories of mobile app inthe SAP vision:
    1. Instant Value  and 
    2. Mission Critical.
    Then there are various methods of consuming SAP backend data from our mobile apps:-
    1. Netweaver mobile DOE (via co-innovation platform?)
    2. LMS
    3. Project Gateway
    4. Web services
    5. BAPIs (via JCA)
    (This is five methods, not four, which is another reason why I thought LMS and Gateway were the same thing).
    Then on top (or underneath?) of all this, you have to make a call on whether to make use of the SUP middleware and/or a security product like Afaria.
    So perhaps the most likely combinations look like:-
    Mission Critical apps with SUP ( + Afaria ) + DOE/Gateway
    or
    Instant Value apps with (LMS/Gateway or simply Web services/JCA)
    But if you have a LOT of Instant-value apps to build I guess your landscape could become complicated enough to justify the middleware too.
    Now please someone point out the flaws in this summary!

  • PORTAL ERROR : when we configured xRPM roles to the user.

    we have installed  netweaver 2004s(abap+java)  with EP . To this installation as a add on we have installed xRPM 4.5.
    we configured xrpm roles like project managent, design colloboration, portfolio management to the user.
    when we login with that user and try to navigate the tabs none of the functions are working and  we are getting error message like this.
    Error connecting using JCO.Client: null
    No portfolio was found; contact your system administrator.
    Error connecting using JCO.Client: null
    but we have defined the Jco destinations and sld properly. we are able to ping the connections also.
    please help us in resolving these issues.

  • Management report - Role analysis

    So here's my issue, I inadvertently scheduled a role analysis without specifying the project roles which are about 200 +.  Thus, role analysis under the management report view constantly shows the  results of the analysis of about 2000 + roles which is a combination of both SAP delivered roles and project roles. Every subsequent batch and full syncs I've scheduled seemingly gets aggregated with the initial sync which has all the SAP delivered roles.
    Question.
    1. I understand I have to purge the database at the backend. The basis team strongly advices against this. Can I possibly purge the role analysis in the CC front end? What are my options here? I only want to see the role analysis of our 200 + project developed roles.

    I understand your requirement, please check the following.
    There are two ways to see Role based Risk Analysis, and both depends upon your requirements.
    1) Suppose, You have a requirement to see consolidated Role based Risk Analysis of a particular system. That means you want to generate a report for all the roles and want to see which roles are violating, mitigated, critical, high, medium and low in your system. For this you can go to Informer tab and generate Role based Risk Analysis Report.
    In this report the advantage is that you get a pie chart and bar graph. But you can not generate reports on the basis of some particular roles, because there is no such functionality provided in CC 5.2
    2) In other case if you wish to generate a Role based Risk Analysis report by specifying a condition like (z*), Here you also have option to select Report Type, risk Level etc  but yes, there is no functionality to see the result in graphs or charts in CC 5.2
    So in both ways your requirement to generate project roles risk analysis report in graph format can not be achieved. For this you only have two options.
    1. Raise an enhancement request to SAP Support.
    2. To go with the second option mentioned above, select report type to be management summary and export the results to excel and generate graphs manually.

  • Processing Cube in BIDS Removes Roles

    Why is it when I do a full cube processing in BIDS the Roles are deleted? Is there a way to avoind this/

    When you fully process the cube you are processing all properties, this includes roles.  When you first deploy and process the cube the properties and meta-data is written to the instance of analysis services that are specified in the properties of the project/deployment.  When you add roles to the cube when using the SQL Server Management Studio then the project remains unchanged, but the roles are added to the AS database.  You have two options:
    1. From the project include the roles in project and then deploy, this will include them in the project and will persisted during deployment.
    2. When making changes from BIDS, rather than opening the project file, which is most often stored locally, go to:
       a. File>Open>Analysis Services Database
       b. Browse to the analysis services instance and database and open
    The second option will open the entire database, including the roles within it, in BIDS.  This option can also create some inconsistency in change control.  I would highly recommend implementing specific policies regarding this, possibly using source safe and checking the project in rather than directly accessing the production AS database.

    Are spaces allowed in role names for access credentials?
    We have a credential from our Leanring Management Sustem (Sakai) that is named "Project Owner."
    We would, most likely, need to url encode this name when we send a credential over http post or get, but my question is on what the role should be named inside iTunes U itself.
    Would the role be "project owner," "project%20owner," or other?

    David,
    I haven't tested this, but ... if you can use spaces ... they are definitely going to have to be URL encoded. Recall that any credentials are going to have to, eventually, be made a part of an iTunes U request URL. Like any other URL, you have to follow basic URI rules about things like spaces.
    If I can squeeze some time for this, I might try to see if I can created a credential with spaces. I'm not hopeful about the result ... but you can't win if you don't play.
