Romanian text in Freehand10

Hi all,
First of all let me thank you for this forum. It always helps
Anyway, this time i have a situation.
I'm making some work in foreign languages: Polish, Russian,
and Romanian.
Polish and Russian worked alright by just typing the text
using a proper font. I simply changed keyboard layout in the "flag
menu" (in Mac OS 10.3.9) and it was fine.
The problem is in the Romanian. I've added the Romanian to
the "flag list" but in Freehand i can't select it. Strangely i can
select the "romanian" in other apps like Safari and Mail, but not
in Freehand. I've already bought a font that support Romanian
characters but still no luck.
Any ideas?
I'm felling a little desperate because i must finish this
work and only in the Romanian language i have problems.

adobe comes into play when you view it on a windows machine and all you got is adobe acrobat. i have the same problem. sometimes changing the text to a different font works but lately that doesn't seem to work either. if anyone has any idea to fix the windows machine (i am almost sure that's where the problem is) it would be greatly appreciated

  • How can I add Romanian spellcheking to my mac os lion

    After a life being on windows, I've started a new life on Mac. Many things obvious in windows, for mac are difficult to understand as a beginer. e.g. By default there is russian keyboard and spellcheking available on. As for Romanian there is a keyboard but not spellcheking available neither for pages nor for mail and other applications. Does spellcheking for Romanian exists in Mac OS environment at all? or Romanian text editing in Mac OS is not allowed :-)

  • Regional and Language Settings problems

    Post Author: DanaRaluca
    CA Forum: General
    Hi everybody,
    I have to display some information written in Romanian. If I have a static (Romanian) text(Text Object), then everything is OK:
    (Here is the text object copied from the Report: dana_test_şŞ_ţŢ)
    The problem appears if the text is saved into a database table. In this second situation, some characters(ş,Ş, ţ and Ţ) are displayed incorrectly.
    (Here is the database field's value copied from the same Report: dana_test_ªº_Þþ)
    If I select the same values from the database (e.g. using SQLTools), then all characters are shown correctly.
    (SQL: SELECT Description FROM TestRo WHERE Article LIKE 'dm_TestRo%';
    Result: dana_test_Şş_Ţţ)
    Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks in advance,
    DanaRaluca

    Hi Jelena,
    The DG4MSQL doesn't support MSQL 2008 without a patch. Go to My Oracle Support and download and apply patch 7623456 for the platform where you are running the gateway.
    If you still have problems then either update here again or open a SR using MOS.

  • Translate crashes on iPad

    Attempting to translate a longish text from Romanian into English, I got at first the beginning of the translation but, trying to copy it into my Gmail in order to forward it, the system reverted to the Romanian text on a dark blue background and I am now unable to get out of that: neither to copy it or delete it. Tried to translate another single word from Romanian to English it works. But the Romanian text insists staying in the "translated" field and, although it changes to a white background and then to a light blue background, I am still unable to copy it or to delete it. can anyone help?
    Yes, I had a similar experience before with a Russian text and the system just repaired itself after I gave up in desperation and left the iPad "rest" for awhile.
    Previously I was able to copy a translated text. I have no idea what I may be doing differently (wrongly) now.

    I don't understand. I am trying to detect why did the App I used crash, not to find another translation App. I am using the App Translate which has an icon showing a Japanese(?) sign equivalent to an A (white on blue background). After a few hours I entered the App again and it works. What did I do wrong to get the original text on a dark blue background rather than be allowed to copy the translated text into my mailing App?

  • Exporting text from video and reimporting after translation

    We are building videos with the original in English but will be translated into a number of other languages.  I am looking for a way to:
    1. export all of the titles into a single text file with meta tags for each piece of text
    2.  they will then be translated into another language
    3.  import them back into the movie so that now the translated text appears in the same position, same time stamps, (and hopefully transition effects) as the orginial English.
    My export title option is greyed out and I have not been able to find instuctions for this.  Any help is highly appreciated.

    Harm is partially correct when he says that this is destined to be manual labor - but it does not have to be so painstaking. A lot of the manual part could be taken out and that is what I am trying to find as a solution.
    In response to one of the posts that questions whether a new video would have to be saved, the answer is yes - but that is the simple part, just rename it and save.  Now, instead of having to go through and manually delete the English text and add, say the Romanian, Arabic, or Mandarin, I was looking for a way that would automatically import and position the new text.  Yes, there is going to have to be some adjusting according to length to match any audio, etc., but this would be a much faster part of the manual process.
    It seems as simple as an export that would gather all of the titles and subtitles into one text files and put the string ID's next to each:  time stamps, position, effect, font variables, and finally "text, etc., etc.."  We have already built tools that would further add string ID's for our translators, which would then replace the English with the new language and change the font variables.  With the rest remaining the same, the program should reimport it.  It would make a great third party plugin if somebody wants to build it - I'll buy it!

  • Myanmar Burmese text not showing properly on Richtextbox c#

    Hello
    Can't get Myanmar Burmese text to display properly on Richtextbox c#, I get some boxes instead of real text, any advise ?
    I’ve already tried several fonts without success, unless there is a font, that I don't know about, or is not installed in the system by default...
    Regards.
    Bruno

    The resulttext function assigns or retrieves the text
    to and from the resultbox, the aligntext aligns text in the richtextbox
    according to the language like Arabic needs right to left orientation:
    // set text in resultbox and aligns it depending on language
    public string ResultText
    get { return ResultTextBox.Text; }
    set
    ResultTextBox.Text = value;
    alingtext(ResultTextBox, false);
    Nothing extraordinary only the Myanmar does not work other languages work fine some languages need a specific font to work with like for instance : Romanian needs Arial to be the
    default font. So I think this is a font problem, not encoding… any clue ?

  • Importing Romanian Subtitles into DVD SP

    I'm not able to import Romanian subtitles into DVD SP correctly.  I can see them correctly in a program on my computer called Jubler, but when I import them into DVD SP, non-English characters don't import correctly.  Any thoughts?
    Thanks,

    Hi Nick,
    I appreciate your reply, though it didn't help.  After working on it for several hours, I did figure it out however.  I'll include here what I figured out incase someone else runs across the same problem.
    I found out I can do it in both Jubler (which is a free program) and TextEdit.
    I Jubler, I needed to import the .stl file encoded as ISO-8859-2, and save it out in UTF-16.
    In TextEdit, I had to open it as Central European (ISO Latin 2), and save it out in UTF-16, manually changing the extension to .stl.  The way to get that option in TextEdit is to go to Preferences, then Open and Save. Under 'Plain Text File Encoding' where it says 'Opening files', click on that tab.  If it's not one of the options, then select 'Customize Encoding List...' at the bottom of the list, which will open up a ton of other opions.  Check Central European (ISO Latin 2), and select it in the tab beside 'Opening files'.  Next time you open up a file in TextEdit, that will be the default for the 'Plain Text Encoding'.  When you do 'Save As', you'll need to change it to Unicode (UTF-16) and change the extension to .stl.
    That took me about 5 hours to figure out.
    Hope this helps someone else out.

  • HT5048 Hi, 1.34 is too much for me ... can I deselect Catalan, Croatian, Greek, Hebrew, Romanian, Slovak, Thai, and Ukrainian languages and download only the OS with less GB?

    Hi,
    1.34 GB is too much for me to download ...
    Can I deselect Catalan, Croatian, Greek, Hebrew, Romanian, Slovak, Thai, and Ukrainian languages and download only the OS with less GB?
    I tried several times but not successfull ...
    please help me to update my OS.
    thanks

    Are you asking why those non-ASCII characters are printing incorrectly? It's because the console is still treating the output as ASCII. The JVM is encoding each character as two bytes according to the UTF-8 spec, but the console is treating each byte as a separate, ASCII-encoded character. Changing the locale of the OS or the "file.encoding" property of the JVM doesn't affect the behavior of the console.
    When I run your code on my WinXP machine (leaving "file.encoding" at its default setting), I get this output: // __ System.getProperty("file.encoding"): |Cp1252|
    // __ |en_US|
    // __ |225||
    // __ |233|Θ|
    // __ |237|φ|
    // __ |243|≤|
    // __ |250||
    // __ |252|ⁿ|
    // __ |241||
    // __ |191|┐|
    // __ |161||
    // __ |251|√|
    // __ |224|α|
    // __ |223|▀|
    // __ |232|Φ|
    // __ |235|δ| The JVM is outputting the text as cp1252, but the console is treating it as cp437, its default codepage (encoding). When I change the console's encoding with the command "CHCP 1252" and run the code again, I get: // __ System.getProperty("file.encoding"): |Cp1252|
    // __ |en_US|
    // __ |225||
    // __ |233||
    // __ |237||
    // __ |243||
    // __ |250||
    // __ |252||
    // __ |241||
    // __ |191||
    // __ |161||
    // __ |251||
    // __ |224||
    // __ |223||
    // __ |232||
    // __ |235|| I don't know if it's possible to change the encoding of the console in your OS, but that's not a showstopper. Just write the output to a file, then use a reasonably capable text editor to view the result. And there's no need to change all those OS/JVM settings; just specify the encoding when you open the file for writing: FileOutputStream fos = new FileOutputStream("out.txt");
    OutputStreamWriter osw = new OutputStreamWriter(fos, "UTF-8");

  • OS X is missing Romanian spellchecker but iOS already has one

    I would like to see a spellchecker in OS X for Romanian language, especially that this is already available for iOS.

    Snow Leopard is compatible with the aff/dic open format dictionaries.
    So, all you need to do is to get one dictionary, and place it inside ~/Library/Spelling (you may have to create the directory).
    You can get the dictionary from OpenOffice, extract the file using The Unarchiver, and copyro_RO.aff and ro_RO.dic in your Library.
    You have to logout & login, and then go to System Preferences > Language & Text > Text > Spelling > Romana ...and boom! you have system-wide romanian spell checking

  • InDesign and Hungarian Text

    I am currently using InDesign CS2 Windows and I have been able to work with a wide range of characters/languages with no problems; from Romanian to Icelandic once I installed the appropriate font not characters were ever missing. Until I tried to pour text in Hungarian. I cannot get the 2 character ő to appear even after installing a couple of "Hungarian" fonts. Can someone help me please?!?

    Thomas,
    If you use Unicode fonts (most OTF fonts), they automatically contain the characters you need.
    Attention! Unicode and OpenType are only "formats". It's up to the designer(s) of the font which glyphs to include and which not. It's absolutely fine to create a Unicode OTF font that only covers the glyphs for "western" languages. And there are enough OpenType fonts out there with no support for e.g. central European languages.
    Beside this, I suggest to not use old (non-unicode) Type1 Fonts in a Unicode Environment like FrameMaker 8 or InDesign.
    I suggest to carefully check the preferred font for the languages covered. You can check this with your font vendor or check for consulting of a specialist for multilingual publishing ;-)

  • Romanian characters in Description and captions

    How do I get Romanian characters into the descriptions of my photos in iPhoto so they will appear in the captions of my slideshow?
    I need characters like the t with the squiggly underneath and the s with the squiggly, a with a hat, a with a u above it, etc.
    I read elsewhere that I could use option+c,X where X was s or t, but I immediately get the French character of c with squiggly underneath as soon as I release option+c.
    I have the Romanian keyboard activated in Preferences.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. See if this will let you select the right key combination to get what you want:
    1 - go to the System/Language & Text Preference pane and click on the Input Sources button at the far top right.
    2 - Then select the checkbox at the bottom for "Show Input menu in menu bar".
    3 - click on the squarish mini keyboard in the menu bar on the right and select Show Keyboard Viewer.
    Now you can depress various key modifiers (Command, Option, Control or a combination of them) to see what characters are under the various keys. It works for English so lets keep our fingers crossed.

  • How to put Romanian Language into Instant Portal editor

    I have installed Instant Portal. The default site has been created in Romanian Language. But how do I get the Instant Portal generated text items such as (Rich Text item or Expandable Rich Text item) ? When I logon I get the login Screen in Romanian Language (as my Browser runs romania and accept romania as the primary language) so it seems that part of the product supports Romania.
    After creating a new Instant Portal using the Portal Builder the NLS characters (ăîşţ) are shown as squares. I respect steps that are documented in the "Working with Languages" topic of the Oracle Instant Portal on-line help and I can't use Instant portal in a Romanian Language.

    I am able to copy and paste the Romanian page titles into both the rich text and expanded rich text items and have them render the same. Could you answer a few more questions to help diagnose the behavior you are observing? What is your browser language set to? Have to tried setting the portal session language to Romanian using the Set Language portlet, instead?

  • Text options

    Hi all,
    i had a question regarding when writing something with the text option in photoshop, you then have the option of making it smooth, strong, sharp, crisp.
    What do these options do to the text? i cant really notice the difference, is there a recommended option for print or web that i should be using?

    Depends on a number of factors:
    how you want the type to look
    resolution
    file format (eg: gif or jpeg)
    Font attributes: weight, serif thickness, webfont
    so the answer would be very long. But thismakes an important differecne for low resoltuon digital graphics, and not so much for print.
    None - Applies no anti-aliasing
    Sharp - Type appears at its sharpest
    Crisp - Type appears somewhat sharp
    Strong - Type appears heavier
    Smooth - Type appears smoother
