OUR PROBLEM FOR DOMESTIC BUSSINES IS SOLVED. BUT IN CASE OF EXPORT DOCUMENT CURRENCY IS USD BUT ACCOUNTING AND EXICE DUTY GETS POSTED IN INR AFTER CONVERTING WITH EXCHANGE RATE. WE WANT THE INR VALUE TO BE ROUNDED OFF. BUT WITH ROUTINE 17 WE ARE NOT GETTING RESULT.
AS FOR EXAMPLE : EXCHANGE RATE(42.7)
MAT-CODE 2PC 23.4 USD CON-VALUE(46.8 USD) CON-VALUE (1998.36 INR).
WE WANT INR VALUE 1998.36 TO BE 1998.

Ideally, for Export Invoice for purpose of Excise, Proforma Invoice is created and the amount is to be converted in INR. The Code Below in that case will serve the purpose.
Below code should be written in Program RV60AFZC .this userexit gets triggered during Vf01
The code logic is that it checks for Pro forma invoice and changes SD document currency to INR
IF vbrk-vbtyp = 'U'.
VBRK-WAERK = 'INR'.

Round trip export/import from Mac OSX iCal

Since there isn't an iSync plug-in for Oracle Calendar (yet?) I thought I'd try a round-trip import/export between Oracle Calendar and Mac OSX iCal. Inconvenient, but it should would because the UIDs in the .ics file would be the same and an import would overlay over the existing entries.
Wrong -- if I export an event from iCal, import it into Oracle Calendar, then export it again and look at the .ics file, the UID is different. Consequently, I get duplicate entries at the end of the round trip.
What good is the "U"-Unique of UID if it isn't kept consistently? From the standard: "Implementations MUST be able to receive and persist values of at least 255 characters for this property."

I've ran into an issue when exporting/importing a .csv file from OSX.And this "issue" is...?

Fuzzy video upon round trip export from motion to FCP

I'm using Motion 4 to add master template lower thirds to my FCP video. When I bring a clip from final cut into motion (send to>Motion) then send it back to FCP after I add my text, the video itself looks as if it has taken on a slight blurriness. I checked that my project settings were the exact same by going to project properties in motion and making sure everything matched up with my sequence settings in fcp. They did. Am I missing a step here? I'm tempted to not roundtrip through motion because of this. Instead I'd like to just open the master template in FCP and use that. The reason I don't is because I do not have control over font color and other adjustments.
Can anyone suggest a fix or point out what I'm doing wrong?

Distorted real instrument after exporting to iTunes or CD

Regardless of what settings I've used, the real instrument distorts after exporting to iTunes or CD. Is this a bug with '08? I've used GarageBand from the beginning and never encountered this problem in previous versions. My project is now at a dead stop.

One reason people may suggest exporting to itunes and is that GB is limited in the number of effects you can apply per track (2) and just one on the master track.
So say you want to run an eq, compressor, reverb all on the master. You can do it with the GB presets and a few plugins but it as great a GB is, its just not that flexible in this way. I guess this is where Apple teases you and tries to make you **** after Logic.
If you are doing type of thing often you may want to consider another application for mastering, ie Peak LE ($99) or Peak Pro ($599) , Amadeus Pro ($40) or Logic Express. If not stick with GB and put up with a few rounds of exporting and importing

Mastering - Before or After Exporting to iTunes?

I read on another site that you should drag your exported song from iTunes back into Garageband to do the final mastering ... here is the quote ...
"You can certainly use GarageBand for producing a good master. It has the processing tools available to do the job well. Make sure you have exported your project to iTunes, and dragged it back into GB as a stereo track. Listen to the track as a whole - the sound of the track, not the individual parts and the balance between them."
Is this correct? I though that the Master Track selections that you chose before exporting was the mastering step ...??

How do I save Lightroom image edits in source file?

My experience with the trial version of lightroom is very positive in terms of the convenient and powerful capabilities for editing images and the associated metadata. But I can't find a way to save the "develop" edits to images into the source file for the photo I am working with. So far, I am able to save the metadata into the file but not the image editing. From what I read, I fear this is not possible without silly round about exporting to new files then copying / moving multiple copies around, etc. Without this ability, I am pretty sure I will not purchase lightroom and will miss out on all the powerful features. Without an OPTION that turns on the equivalent of a SAVE button, managing my photos collection would be a nightmare.
So my question is: How do I save the edited (i.e., developed) version of a photo back into the same file where the original photo was stored?
Please, please spare me all the reponses telling me how stupid I am for wanting to do this and that the cognisenti and professionals would NEVER do this. But please just tell me there is a secret place to turn on this option in lightroom.

I had the same requirement to save in JPEGs files all non-metadata edits performed in Lightroom, in order to share modified pictures without duplicating files. By the way, I think it’s going to be more and more required by casual Lightroom users, as people get used to instant photo sharing in many situations where quantity matters more than quality
Here’s a nearly automatic (at least, scalable) solution that works, although it slightly lowers the quality by re-compressing the original pictures.
Once for all:
Download and install the wonderful Lightroom plugin “jf Run Any Command”, provided as donationware by Jeffrey Friedl here: http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/run-any-command. This “export filter” plugin allows you to run a command of your choice with each exported file, as part of the export while it’s going on. (You may also browse Jeffrey’s blog to find many other useful and beautiful things.)
In Lightroom, pre-define an export settings as follows:
Export to the hard drive, to the original picture folder, without adding the exported file to the catalog
Name the exported file “EXPORTED-{Filename}” (or anything different from the original file name)
JPEG format, 76% quality (see An Analysis of Lightroom JPEG Export Quality Settings at http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/jpeg-quality)
Keep all metadata
Here’s the interesting part, the Run Any Command settings:
Command to execute for each exported picture: copy "{FILE}" "{Path}\{LIBRARYFILENAME}" (this replaces the original file with a copy of the exported file)
Command to execute upon export completion: del {FILES} (this deletes all exported files).
NB: One could wonder why not directly export with the original file name and silently replace the original files (I believe Lightroom would allow this). It’s just a matter of error handling: in case the export goes wrong, no original file is changed at all.
The easy part: each time you want to save edits:
In Lightroom, select the pictures to save, and export them with the pre-defined settings. You're almost done. The JPEG files are ok, but inside Lightroom you see the modification effects doubled, as their specifications remain in the catalog database and they apply on modified JPEG instead of the original files.
While the entire set of "saved" pictures is still selected, in the Develop module switch Autosync on and click Reinit to erase all modification specifications from the catalog for all pictures, then press CTRL-S to write down to disk any metadata updated by Lightroom -and accept if required to confirm that Lightroom values should replace externally set values.

Any advice on importing wmv files into FCE?

I'd like to bring in some wmv files into a sequence in FCE. Of course this format is not directly supported. i'm having a rough time finding a third party app to use on my mac that would convert wmv files into something importable such as .mov. Any suggestions? Thanks.

flip for mac is a quicktime plug that works in all qt based applications. with it, you can open a wmv in quicktime and export it as a .mov
While I use it the other way round, to export wmv's for the web it will do what you want.
be aware that wmv is a highly compressed format and transcoding it, even to a higher size file for example dv will look horrible.
wmv is meant to be a delivery codec, not an editable one.

Low-quality DVD from SD files

I'm new to Premiere Pro CS5, and I'm having difficulty creating a good-quality DVD from my SD footage. It may be because my video is too long (2 hr. 14 min.), but I thought maybe I was doing something wrong.
I've done similar things (DVDs from plays I've recorded, with the same camera) using different software, and the final quality was better. However, for various reasons, the old software isn't working well any more and I'm making the switch to PP.
I've included some technical details below. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Captured as .avi files using Premiere Pro
Edited in Premiere Pro CS5 64bit (ver.5.0.3)
Total video length: 2h:14m

1st try: Transcoded using Automatic settings
(DVD Transcode in Properties dialog). Quality was awful -- faces very blotchy.
2nd try: Changed DVD Transcode to:
NTSC DV 23.976 Hi-Qual 7Mb VBR 2 pass
Quality didn't improve.
3rd try: Specified a 2-sided DVD to give it more room. (I don't have a 2-sided DVD, but I thought I could burn it onto 2 DVDs). The transcoded file size increased (6.89GB m2v file), but the quality didn't really improve.

It's a 3-act play, and my next thought was to try to do Act 1 as one file, on one DVD, and Acts 2 & 3 (shorter) as a separate project on a 2nd DVD. Blu-Ray isn't an option, unfortunately.

As I just posted, it turns out that Dan's instructions about HC Encoder were the ones that basically got me what I needed. However, I really appreciate your suggestions, and I wanted to post my test results and procedure, in case it's helpful to anyone (or if I need it again).
Regarding your test scenarios, I started on two different sequences: one set up as DV 24P, and the other as DV NTSC. My detailed notes are below -- too much to read, unless you're interested how it all turned out.

Test 1: Playing in the Premiere Program Window
A. On DV 24P sequence:
   1. Leave Interpret Footage parameters at current settings. Quality OK
   2. Change just the "Remove 24p DV Pulldown" setting. Quality Terrible
   3. Change just the Field Order setting to Progressive. OK
   4. Change both the Remove and LFF settings. OK, but w/ interlace combing
B. On DV NTSC sequence:
   1. Leave Interpret Footage parameters at current settings. Quite bad
   2. Change just the "Remove 24p DV Pulldown" setting. Worse
   3. Change just the Field Order setting to Progressive. Quite bad
   4. Change both the Remove and LFF settings. Lots of combing
So, after this round, DV 24P sequence was best, either w/ default settings, or making field order progressive.
Test 2: AVI export
Created a split-screen test clip, on DV 24 P sequence, with no change on left, and change of setting from LFF to progressive on right (A1 & A3 above, which were the best after the first round).
Exported to avi files, using:
1. NTSC DV 24P preset, DV (24P Advanced) codec
2. Lagarith codec, progressive
3. Lagarith, LFF
Played avi file on Media Player Classic and Windows Media Player.
Not a lot of discernible difference among the three files.
Test 3: HC Encoder
Created *.avs fils for each of 3 test files (using Dan's directions), plus original avi (captured directly from the camera)
(Note: HC Encoder doesn't like file names with spaces or underscores,apparently.)
1. NTSC: couldn't open
2. Input for encoding OK
3. Input for encoding OK
4. Original avi couldn't be decompressed
So, the lagarith-encoded files work fine with HC Encoder, but I still have interlace combing artifacts - throughout Act 2, and at the curtain call for Sat (when the background is lighter -- is that significant?), and throughout (but not completely) Acts 2 & 3 for Fri (all on one tape). Act 1 either night doesn't appear to have a problem.
Looking at the original captured footage (in MPC and Win Media Player), there is no interlacing problem, so it appears to be an issue with PP.
Previewing the files in PP (before putting them in a sequence), there is no interlacing problem.
When creating a new sequence, I tried: New Sequence, General, Playback Settings button, choose "Repeat Frame (ABBCD)" rather than "Interlaced Frame" (the default).
This sort of fixed the problem -- no more combing, EXCEPT at the curtain call -- the very end of tape 3. The other footage that was combing is now a little softer -- kind of annoying, but I applied an Unsharp Mask filter (default settings), and it helped. (I also tried Auto Color, to see if it would quickly help the color. Not a good move: the color changes sometimes frame by frame, and all black becomes gray static. Obviously, I need to understand what that does next time I try to use it.)
I decided to live with the combing at the end. (It was "good enough" at that point -- not a commercial project.) At least I've learned a lot.
I put the .h2v and .aac files into Encore, created some menus and built it to a folder, to test the files one more time before committing them to plastic. It all looked good. Then, for one more hurdle, Encore didn't like my DVD burner ("unknown error"!) It worked last week! However, I used a different burner, since I had the DVD files already, and it worked fine. Phew!
I'd love to know what the interlace combing at the end was about. My only guess it that it may be because I was using a sort-of-cheapo DV tape, recording over it for the third time. Maybe the tape was a bit stretched or something and the frames got out of synch at the very end. (?) If anyone has ideas, I'd be interested.

Pictures edited with Photoshop becomes huge in file size

Hey,
Sometimes I like to edit my pictures with Photoshop if there are some things I need to remove etc. But after I save my picture from within Photoshop, it takes up like 70MB or something in my Aperture library. That's a lot for a single picture. Isn't there something to be done so they get down to around RAW-filesize level?
Or do I have to go the long way round and export first (as what?), then edit in Photoshop, save as JPEG, import to Aperture?

This issue of size is not Aperture, per se. If you open one of your RAW files saved directly from the camera to a folder on your Mac, then open with Photoshop, change to Mode settings to be 16 bit vs 8 bit, then Save As a TIFF, you will see the same size increase.
Aperture by default is working in 16 bit color, and that alone will increase TIFFs or PSDs by a factor of two.
Photoshop needs the image file to be either TIFF or PSD to accomplish and then save most edits that require Photoshop, and that you can later re-edit. If your edit requires layers, then you can flatten the image before saving to not pass that increase back into Aperture storage.
Although you can save your edited image as a JPEG in PS, there is no facility to directly pass this back to the Aperture Library.
I find little reason to use Photoshop for editing, unless I need to work with layers, btw, especially since Aperture 3.

Apex 3 + Oracle XE + Oracle 10g

I am considering developing Apex3 applications in my local Oracle XE database, then later deploying them in a Oracle 10g database (using export/import).
Is this possible / advisable? Are there any potential problems that I should be aware of?
Can I do it the other way round? (export from 10g and import into XE)?

Many thanks for the replies... I tested and it worked well!
I asked because Apex in XE looks a bit different (different themes, the way it is integrated in the DB manager etc). Of course I could have tested before asking in here, but I wanted to know of any potential problems that could happen and would not be evident at first. But by what you said, it is safe do to it this way!

Re: I've Lost my Catalog!

I'm hoping someone may be able to help .... I have been backing up all my files (documents/music/photos) onto my new external hard-drive. I moved the Lightroom Back-up folder (which took ages!) and subsequently discovered (to my horror) my entire catalog now completely empty! I recently took pics of a friends wedding which I had edited but hadn't got round to exporting and burning to disc and I've lost them all! I have moved the folder back to my C drive and tried it in Pictures, Program Files, Adobe Lightroom etc but no pics in my catalog when I open Lightroom. I've evidently broken the link but not sure where the folder should be. Can anyone advise please?! Many thanks

Hi .... thank you for your kind assistance. Fortunately, before finding your last reply, i did actually find the catalog (massive relief!) However, each image now says "offline or missing". This has happened before, and I knew exactly where the imported images were as they were the only ones left on my D drive so I linked to them but it didn't work. Copied DNG's to C Drive but still no joy. Tried 'synchronising' and annoyingly imported the whole lot again .... minus all my editing of course! I know I've just lost the file path for the original edited ones and really don't want to have to edit all over again (though they're due back from their homeymoon today!) Would you be able to suggest how to re-link or quickly copy the editing I've already done to the re-imported unedited ones?! Thanks for your help

Importing .wmv Files Into FCE Using ffmpegX ??????

A month or so ago I converted some .wmv files to use in FCE and iMovie.
I am absolutely certain that I used ffmpegX.
Yesterday I tried to convert some more but couldn't! I tried every possible format setting I could find - but no luck.
Did I dream it? The wmv/FCE/iMovie movies are there for all to see.
The only other conversion programs I have are HandBrake and Toast but I am sure I didn't use those.
Any ideas?

Autorun keynote on a cd

Hi All,
I'm trying to put a short presentation together on Keynote (nicer to use than Powerpoint methinks) but, although I've rattled round the export options I can't seem to find a way to burn to cd and autorun. I'm hoping to send my work to various clients and they simply have to insert the disc in their Mac and/or PC.
Any ideas. Or do I have to revert to Powerpoint?

As far as I know, there is no way in general to do autorun on the Mac (and for very good security reasons), and no way for KN to do autorun on the PC. Your best bet might be to export the presentation to DVD, which would presumably auto-open whatever DVD player the client has (and would also let them view it on a TV).

Can IMovie really do it?

I find something very interesting missing from the many postings here. Has anyone in fact imported HD footage and then edited in HD in IMovie? If so, please tell us about it. How long did it take? What was the differences when editing HD in IMovie vs DV footage? How about those Gee Three plug-ins. Did they work fine while editing in HD?
The bottom line.....Can IMovie really edit HD footage and produce a clean HD movie? Is Apple just hyping when they say you can editing in HD in IMovie?

Yup; I edit HDV with iMovie HD (5 and now 6).
As Karl suggests, d'you really think it'd be called iMovie HD if it couldn't? ..And would the Sony man have jumped up on the stage with Steve J at MacWorld the other year to push the Sony FX1 camcorder if it couldn't?
..OK; I know iMovie 3 couldn't edit video properly, to start with ..but yes: you can edit HDV with iMovie HD. The results are beautiful.
There are, however, a few things to bear in mind:
1 - The faster your Mac, the faster iMovie will work with HDV footage. The Mac has to convert, on the fly, from the MPEG-2 format of HDV into the DV/QuickTime format which iMovie uses ..while you're importing. On my Mac mini and G4 PowerBooks that meant that importing the footage from the camcorder took twice or three times 'real time' to import ..sometimes 4x real time. So importing can be -s-l-o-w- ..That's why I eventually got a faster Mac, after checking out import speeds at the London Apple Store on their hardware. I bought the fastest Mac I could which was also a PowerPC. So I got a quad G5, with 4GB of RAM. This imports HDV in real time, so importing is exactly like importing normal DV. No faster, no slower: identical.
2 - Editing in HDV is exactly like editing in normal DV ..in fact it's the same as normal DV once it's imported and temporarily converted into Apple's Intermediate Codec format. Everything works just like normal: transitions, titles, importing pictures and sound, etc. Rendering titles and transitions, etc, took longer than normal DV on the G4 Mac mini and PowerBooks ..but that's not surprising, as every HDV frame has about 4x the information or detail in it. Rendering is back to the speeds of normal DV using the G5 quad.
3 - Outputting back to a camcorder is just like with normal DV ..except that it takes a LOT longer! ..The edited material has to be converted by the Mac from the temporary Apple Intermediate Codec format back into "Long-GOP MPEG-2" format to send to the camcorder ..and that took, on those G4 Macs, about 10x real time. So an hour of video had to be left overnight to Export back to a camcorder. On the G5 quad I've got that down to under 2x real time by (a) using a faster Mac, (b) keeping projects on a second internal disc, instead of on the main system disc or on a - slower - external FireWire disc, (c) using the fastest possible (10,000rpm) internal disc (..a 74GB Western Digital 'Raptor' ..there is a later, higher capacity - 150GB? - version, but that - reportedly - may presently have problems in a Mac, without a separate controller card to drive it). I intend to 'RAID' or to 'stripe' two of these WDs together, when the appropriate controller card arrives, to give what promises to be even faster disc access, and that may cut the export time even further, to perhaps around 1.5x real time.
I haven't yet used GeeThree plug-ins with HD footage: I tend to be rather conservative with my transitions, and just use simple things - usually - like cross dissolves, Fade In and Fade Out and - especially - Wash In and Wash Out. GeeThree (see their site) could probably give you more info about their plug-ins for HDV.
iMovie 6 originally gave very badly jerking PAL DV output to camcorders, as if it was sending NTSC 30fps video instead of PAL 25fps. Matti pointed this up, and the 6.0.1 update was very quickly posted, and has fixed that problem. (If you only use American-style NTSC video, you probably wouldn't have noticed this oddity.)

I haven't got round to exporting any as QuickTime H.264 and putting it up on the web, but I shall eventually (..sometimes I have other things to do besides fiddling with video..!) and then you'll see - roughly - what it looks like.

Adding identifiers to clips

I am going to preview a bunch of video clips with my partner and I need a label or some identifier for each clip. Is there an easy way to include say the log note, file name, or some other identifier on the time line so that is shows up? I am going to export the sequence for viewing off line. We need to be able to quickly identify the clips we want to keep while previewing on say my iPad or laptop.
This can be as simple as a sequential number for each clip, the clips file name, log note or whatever. There are hundreds of clips so putting in text manually would be very time consuming.

One solution to do what you want:

You need to follow their workflow, *which is a round trip export/import via XML to make it work:*
Lay all the clips on to a single track timeline - you can do this by selecting them all in the browser and dragging them as a group to the timeline
Apply the TCR plus filter to the first clip, configure the filter as to how you want the display to look, what data you want to display
copy that configured filter, and paste on to the rest of the clips in the timeline via Paste Attributes
Export an XML of your timeline
Run the exported XML through a little app that comes with the plug in
Import that modified XML back into your project, and all the clip names (or what ever other data you selected) are visually added automatically. Now just output the labled sequence as a QT movie and compress for use on your iPad etc,
You can try it out with a download that is restricted to 20 clips.
The full version was, I think, 45 Euro. I think you save that in time the first time you use it.
I have had this/used this for a couple of years, not sure if there is anything else on the market that will do what you want.
Just did a test roundtrip so can verify it is working on FCP 7.03 and OSX 10.6.7
