Router disconnects when moving to another room

I recently set up my new compact router (WRT54GC) yesterday and have mainly use my HP notebook in my living room about 2m from the router.
However, as soon as i move my notebook into my study, the connection is lost and i cannot connect back to the network despite the signal being "Excellent". The distance between my study and the position of the router is not far at all however there is only 1 wall between it.
I dont understand if the signal is Excellent then why doe the connection disconnect?

There are many causes for poor wireless connections, and many solutions:
First of all, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Also set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, wireless speakers, and your neighbor's wireless network. In rare cases, Bluetooth devices can interfere. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
Also, try to locate the router about 4 to 6 feet above the floor, in an open area. Do not locate it behind your monitor or near other computer equipment or speakers. The antenna should be vertical.
Also, in the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys". Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use. If your current network is not listed, enter its info (SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your current network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".
If the above does not fix your problem, download and install the latest driver for your wireless card.
Some users have reported improved wireless speed by switching from WEP to WPA encryption.
If you continue to have problems, try the following:
For wireless g routers, try setting the "Transmission Rate" to 54 Mbps. For wireless n routers, try setting the "n Transmission Rate" to 162 Mbps, and the (wireless g) "Transmission Rate" to 54 Mbps.
If you still have trouble, download and install the latest firmware for your router. After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.

Hello,
I am not sure if this is a Flash Builder topic or a Flash Catalyst topic or I am guessing it is both.
I have a Catalyst that contains multiple flv clips. I am discovering that when you play a video and then you decide to navigate to another "state" or "location" in my case, that the video pauses. If you then return to that state the video will start back up where it was paused.
I am trying to figure out how to tell the program to stop all or any flv when moving to another state.
Any help here would be great.

My Ipod Touch 3rd gen continuously disconnects when connected to another accessory either by cable or aux cable. It disconnects within 30 seconds. If replugged by aux cable it will play properly, but ipod cable disconnects continuously. Any ideas?

HT1365 just installed a new wireless router (cisco linkseys E1200) and our apple laptops connect fine on one floor but lose connectivity when moved to another. Other non apple laptops & Ipad connect with no problem no matter what floor they are on

We just installed a new wireless router to our main PC. It's a Cisco Linkseys E1200. All other wireless devices were able to connect without a problem, including my Ipad. We have 2 Macbook Pro laptops. They both connect just fine when on the same floor of our house as the router, but when we take them upstairs to the 2nd floor of the house, they lose connectivity and it states the wireless password is not the correct password. All other 2nd floor laptops have no problem at all with connectivity no matter where they are in the house. Please help- my husband is on the verge of selling Apple if that cannot be remedied.

E-mail changes to unreadable text when moved to another mailbox folder

Hi,
when moving a correct received e-mail to another mailbox folder, the mail and the attachment will change to unreadable text and it looks like the column below.
On my iPad and iPhone the mail and the attachment is shown correct. If I forward it to my own account again, the mail is also correct shown an my imac27, as long as it resides in the in-box.
On the other hand, there are lots of mails+attachments with "normal" behavier when moved.
Any idea about that?

Router disconnects when labtop computer turned on.

My girlfriend recently purchased a new Sony Vaio labtop computer. Now everytime she turns on her computer my wireless router cuts out and the power led flashes as well as the light up Cisco logo. The router is a WRT54G. All of my house mates also run off this router. Never had a problem before this. Is there a way to fix this?

The IP Address on both the computers might be conflicting and that is why you think the router disconnects...I think you should upgrade the firmware on your router and reset and re-configure it...

Need phone jack moved to another room

When I had my service installed, the installer put a single jack in the bedroom as we don't use the phone much. One month later, I have a new job and need a phone in a different room. Is this just a sign of the guy not wanting to do to much work? Am I going to have to pay to have another jack installed? How do I go about this?

You can always install jacks yourself. If wiring doesn't already exist, start by getting a length of CAT3 cabling at least, with two wire pairs. It is also best to locate the point where the wire coming from the NID enters your home to a "meeting point" for other potential lines in your home, if this point exists. Essentially, we're looking for a way to allow us to tie multiple jacks to a single line without having to have them all meet up at the NID, which only accepts one cable pair leaving it which makes it an unsuitable location to tie multiple lines into one line.
To put it into perspective, we're looking at something like...
Verizon Copper Drop ----> NID ---> Meeting Point (Punch Block, Junction) ---> Phone lines going to various locations in your home.
When wiring the home up, make sure you take a look at how things are currently wired, in case something winds up messed up and needs to be undone. There isn't much to screw up, but it is best to ensure you do not mix up the Tip and Ring as some devices do not work well with them mixed up.

The guide outlines several wiring methods. I'm personally not for daily chaining as it creates problems with troubleshooting. I'm the type of person who prefers to have lines meet up at a point, such as punch block, which makes connecting and disconnecting, along with troubleshooting problematic jacks and wiring a lot easier.

"Mode not supported" freezes AppleTV Gen3 on Samsung 61in DLP. AppleTV is ok when moved to another TV... Help me get it back online with the Samsung?

I just hooked up the AppleTV Gen3, and it worked great on my 61in Samsung DLP TV that should do 1080i. When I looked at the resolution settings in the AppleTV menu, it said 720i. I tried to change the resolution in the settings menu, and it came back with a message "mode not supported..." I was able to initially get back to the menu and choose what I thought was a supported resolution (1080i), and it again displayed the same message, this time freezing the AppleTV. I could no longer communicate with the AppleTV device although the remote was working fine.
I tried most solutions that I read on the support forums. So far nothing has worked ie changing HDMI inputs, removing power, etc. I moved the AppleTV to another Samsung TV, and it worked fine - and I was able to adjust the resolution. When I returned to the orignal Samsung it again displayed the "mode not supported" menu and it remains frozen. Any solution? Will a reset back to factory settings help - or am I stuck? Frustrated. Help?

Re syncing photos when moved to another HD

I recently moved all my photos to a new external HD and now I can see the thumbnails in iPhoto but when I try to view them at a larger size it says they can't be found. How can I re sync all the photos without having to do it one photo at a time?

You're running a "referenced" library, correct?

What you're experiencing is just one of may problems a referenced library can present. What you'll have to do is manually relink each photo by navigating to it when asked to find it. If you're lucky you'll only have to find one photo in each of the events assuming all of the photos in that event were imported at the same time.
Otherwise you'll either have to start over from scratch with a new library or move the source photos back to their original location on the boot drive.
Then you can use AliasHerder to convert the referenced library to a managed one which you can then move to the EHD and run from there.

Problem accessing classes when moved into another jar

I have written some classes and want to put them in an external jar
as a library. However, when I do this, I have to include the full path
for them to work- what am I doing wrong? I am using JBuilder6
Example:-
I have a class called LogWriter in package org.MyClasses.utils which I
am using in a class in another package (com.MyCode). If they are all in
my src directory it works fine and I import org.MyClasses.utils
If I compile org.MyClasses into a jar and add the jar as a library, I can
see the classes with CodeInsight (so I know they are there). However, the line
Logwriter.writeLog() ; (call to static method), which used to work, now only works
if I change it to org.MyClasses.utils.Logwriter.writeLog() ;
Any advice?

If the class was called MyWriter and is in org.MyClasses.utils, I have to replace all instances of MyWriter with org.MyClasses.utils.MyWriter.
MyWriter has not altered in any way. It's now compiled separately and put into another jar rather than all classes being comipled at the same time.

IPhone 3G isn't finding my Wifi unless right next to the router. When moved downstairs, it loses connection and is unable to find wifi. Help please?

I have an iPhone 3GS 8GB that works perfectly and finds my WiFi no problem wherever I am in my house. My mother, however, has just brought an iPhone 3G 8GB that cannot find our WiFi unless it is within a metre of the router
I phoned Apple and the woman on the phone said to reset the router and modem, done that but I still have the same problem. She also suggested about updating the iPhone 3G, but iTunes is telling me that its software is up to date .... "This version of the iPhone software (4.2.1) is the current version"
My iTunes is also up to date (version 10.6.3.25)
I have also tried resetting the network settings on the phone, turning the WiFi on and off on the phone and turning it on and off (someone said that might have worked)
Has anyone came across this problem before? And if so, how can I fix it?

The problem could be due to a loose antenna but it's impossible to say for sure.

Outlook 2010 / SBS2011 Exchange Emails being deleted when moved to another mailbox

Hi All,
I have an SBS2011 std, using exchange 2010
User A has full access permission to mailboxes B and C
In Outlook 2010 they have the additional mailboxes visible automatically (ie. not via the "more settings" tab in outlook set up)
Recently when user moves a message from their inbox A, into a folder of the other mailbox B or C, or the inbox of that user, the message is very quickly deleted, and ends up having to be recovered from the "recover deleted items" section of the
users Deleted Folder.
(Hope that makes sense)
Previously I understand they were able to move emails in this way, between mailboxes.
Can anyone confirm if this should a) be possible and b) what might have changed or be going wrong?
The server was patched and rebooted last night to try and fix the issue but it is still continuing.

What if we just move emails within the same mailbox, will this issue continues?
How did the user move the emails? If they moved by dragging/dropping, please try right clicking the email and select Move > Other Folder...
If this issue only happen to certain user, I'd recommend you
create a new mail profile for that use and then test again.
In addition, do you have any antivirus software installed? If so, please disable the antivirus integration with Outlook to check the result. See:

Connection has timed out - error message keeps appearing when moving to another site.

Once connected to a site it seems OK. Also my router security log records a lot of "SYN flood" events - several of these are outbound, so could there be a relation here? Is Firefox generating these which somehow clog the router?

How do you get the Find bar to not automatically close when a page is reloaded or when moving to another tab?

Not sure if this is a bug or a feature. Is there any way to get it to work like previous versions? I spend way too much time re-enabling the Find bar over and over.

You don't.
Clicking on the player window will hide the controllers but clicking the arrow keys will make it appear again.
Use QuickTime Player 7.6.6 instead.
