HT1365 just installed a new wireless router (cisco linkseys E1200) and our apple laptops connect fine on one floor but lose connectivity when moved to another. Other non apple laptops & Ipad connect with no problem no matter what floor they are on

We just installed a new wireless router to our main PC. It's a Cisco Linkseys E1200. All other wireless devices were able to connect without a problem, including my Ipad. We have 2 Macbook Pro laptops. They both connect just fine when on the same floor of our house as the router, but when we take them upstairs to the 2nd floor of the house, they lose connectivity and it states the wireless password is not the correct password. All other 2nd floor laptops have no problem at all with connectivity no matter where they are in the house. Please help- my husband is on the verge of selling Apple if that cannot be remedied.

This would not be a security issue symptom. I would consider checking for sources of wireless interference HT1365

Sounds like a problem with the router installation/configuration (likely) or a DOA router (very unlikely).
Visit the forums for the router manufacturer (i.e., linksys, d-link, etc.) and ask for assistance there. There is probably a link to help listed in the router manual.

I installed the WRT54G Wireless router on my desktop and have been using the internet on that pc and my laptop (wirelessly) for a few months. Last week I uninstalled Norton Internet Security and installed ESET Smart Security. Now my desktop cannot get to the internet and the advisor says it does not detect a router. But my laptop says it's connected to my network and I am able to use the intenet on it. The router itself has all of the correct connecions and the appropiate lights are lit. Could the ESET Smart Security Software have messed up my router firmware. Please advise.

there seems to be consistant issues with Linksys routers according to all the posts ive been reading for the past month while i try to fix my on and off again internet connection. its becomming very annoying. i have asked my cable company to replace my modem, which they did and that didn't even help. last year i bought a new linksys router thinking it would solve my problem back then. it did for a while, then my lap top wouldn't connect any, so i sent it into have it checked and it came back with no problems. soooooooooo apparently, while i am connected to my neighbors open connection from his BELKIN ROUTER and even though the signal is very weak............amazingly enough!! i am still online while typing this.......funny eh?? I recently installed a Netgear Wireless router for improved reception, but now my macbook loses connection through Airport after periods of inactivity. We have another older Macbook in the house, and it never loses connection. I never had this problem with the previous Linksys router, just limited range. Any ideas what is causing this? It's frustrating to have to frequently shout down and re-boot. That so far is the only way I can re-connect.

Adjust the Wireless Settings on your linksys router...
Open an Internet Explorer browser page.In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
Click on the Wireless tab on the Setup page- Here Wireless Network mode should be mixed- Provide any non linksys network name ....
Name (SSID) box- Set wireless channel to 11- And wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on "Save Settings" >>
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select AES...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your
network key whenever you connect to your wireless network.
Do NOT give this key to anyone.
Click on Advanced Wireless settings>>
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings" ...
Try to look for the Wireless Network on your laptop and attempt to connect...

i have been trying to get my router to connect to my xbox 360 and it has been working for about 2 weeks and then it just stops and i cant get on live then it says its working then i go and try to get on live and it doesnt work. the green line doesnt light up bright green. and thats what its supposed to do when its connected could anyone help me with this problem i really apreciate it.

IPod classic connects but is not detected in Diagnostic as "No iPod, iPhone, or iPad found" will not sync no matter what I try. have reinstalled itunes, changed cords, restarted services. Just started happening very recently. diagnostics detection is key.

I have a 120gb Classic that has been working, connecting and syncing flawlessly for years. Now it appears that (maybe since an itunes update) my same Windows 7 x64 computer that has not changed other than the occasional iTunes update will not detect my iPod, and therefore will not sync any more.
The odd thing is that iTunes will sometimes see the iPod (not always), and Windows will also sometime see the iPod. Even when it does, and I click to sync a podcast (or anything else) it appears to go through the #1 and #2 steps and says it is syncing - Do not unplug, then appears to finish, but when you check the ipod after ejecting, nothing has changed. It looks like this has been happening for about a week, but my wife must not have realized that songs and other items were not actually syncing.
I have tried uninstalling iTunes, downloading the 11.2... version available online now, no help. I have tried resetting the ipod, no help. I have tried changing cables, no help. every time I go through the diagnostics in iTunes, it fails the connectivity test and says "No iPod, IPhone, or iPad found.
I am so frustrated. I have tried everything I can think of but even though iTunes shows the iPod, it wont sync....

This issue has been resolved - my Support Advisor, Edgar, was able to discern what was causing the problem.
It appears that, despite years of never experiencing this, one of the latest ipod updates actually altered my device's personal settings and changed it to "Manual" for all synchronizing; even performcing Factory Restores did not change it back to being automatic.
My ipod is working as good as ever now thanks to Edgar. If anyone else is having this problem, please make sure you check your device's settings in iTunes and see if "Manual" is checked - even if you never changed the settings yourself and have no reason to suspect that to be the problem, as was the case here. If it is checked - uncheck it to enable automatic syncing.
So relieved this was not a much more serious problem. I've missed having my music on the go. Thanks, Edgar!

I have a new wireless router and now my laptop will not recognize the printer.

I recently installed a new wireless router,Linksys E2500, and now my laptop will not connect to my OfficeJet 4500 wireless printer. Operating system is Windows XP. Says it does not recognize the printer. It was working fine with my other Linksys router and I have been able to connect all of my other electronic equipment. Thanks.

You must reinstall the full feature software and drivers again to be sure it will work with the new router. This is the fastest way. Simply follow the instructions that came with the printer.

Just installed the New CC Premiere Pro CS6 (Family) and now my older Premiere Pro Files no longer work. When I try to open one of these older files I get a pop up that states the files are damage. At this point I am totally shut down.

Click on your CC icon.
Click on the gear icon.
Click on Preferences.
Sign out of CC.
Sign back in.
Don't click on "Quit."
I had been QUITTING CC and relaunching. Try signing out.

Power cycle the cable modem.. you may try leaving it off 5min.. might be enough.. sometimes you need 15min or even longer.. Followed by power cycle of the AE.
Nothing else should be connected to the modem.. except the router that will get the public IP as they only hand out ONE>

Temporarily connecting your AirPort Express to one of the Time Capsule's Etherent LAN <-> ports...as LaPastenagure suggests....is always a good way to setup and configure other network devices.
If you want to configure the Express using wireless, remember that the Express broadcasts a default wireless signal with a name like Apple Network xxxxxx. You must log on to this network first....no password is required....then open AirPort Utility to "see" the AirPort Express.

Are you using a Mac machine or Windows PC?
If using a Mac machine, go to Application-->Utilities-->Adobe Installer-->old apps names and run the uninstaller for old apps.
If you are using Windows PC, go to Control panel-->>Program and Features and uninstall the old apps.
It will uninstall everything related to old apps, but your setting must be imporated to new version of apps.

I just wanted to leave a note that it's working now. I'm not sure if it was the latest iTunes update that got it working or that i decided to start a new library instead of using the one i had backed up on Windows 8 (it didn't occur to me to check using the old library when i re-installed iTunes). But if anyone is having this problem, it might be worth trying again with a new installation of iTunes to see if the latest update works for you, and if not, try using a fresh library instead of a backup (by fresh library i mean discard your old library completely and start a new library, not just restore as new iPhone, a whole new library).
