RSH1 issue when insert values

Hi Guru,
i wan to create a material group hierachy base on char 0matl_group. when i insert values into the it, only a few of material group values show on the list. but infact, there are more than 5,000 records for master data 0matl_group.
what's the problem?

Hi,
First check if your 0matl_group is activated.
As you said 5000 records in 0matl_group. but those would be repeat values. In RSH1, you will see only unique values while insertion. There will be very few uniqiue values.

IDCS3: Odd behaviour when inserting values

Hi!
I can't find a solution to this problem anywhere on the forum or on the net. It could be that I choose the wrong search terms. But anyways, an explanation:
The problem my co-workers and I have, is that when you have a document open, select a bit of text, and want to type in a new size-value in the control-panel at the top, the program reset to the previous value and the marker goes back into the selected text. It also happen when I want to change any other values for ie. objects like images, and when I type in another font face.
Another problem that occur, is that when I go to another open program on my Mac, it jump back into InDesign without me doing anything.
Is this a problem for Intel-based macs with OS X 10.5? On the machine running PPC it works as it should.
If this wasn't understandable, please let me know.

We are also having the problem of inserting values in to the top control panel. Both with the Selection Tool and the Type Tool. We highlight the input box, we enter in a value, the new value stays for a second or two, and then reverts to the previous value. Also, if we try to copy in a value, the box de-highlights and the value gets pasted on to the actual document in a new text box.
This is happening in InDesign CS3 5.0.2 running on Leopard G5s and Tiger G5s. It seems to have appeared with the 5.0.2 update.

Forall issue when inserting on remote table

when I run this code, it works:

but when I try to do the same on a remote table(same structure):

all inserted values are null...

I've got very similar problem some months ago. After some back and forth stage I've realized that the problem was in some expressions in source query that used locally defined PL/SQL functions. It appeared that Oracle tried to execute this local functions on remote server and finalyy I've got an error
ORA-04052: error occurred when looking up remote object <schema>.<package name>@<local server url>
When I removed the calls to local functions everything began to work fine.
What are exact expressions for columns in your
select col_1,...,col_n
from local_table
Are there any function calls there?

Issue when inserting Child Entity (Notes) with Contact

I am getting the following error message when inserting Contacts with a child entity i.e. Notes which is quite misleading

Hi, From the error message it looks like the access profile settings for the WS user doesn't have required privileges to create a note for contact. You make have to check access profile settings first and then try it

Multi-track duration issue when inserting clips

I apologize if I missed this anywhere. Tried to search first.
I'm using Audition cs6 and I have a clip in my waveform viewer. I have already created a new multi-track session that matches the specs of the source files.
HOWEVER, when I make a selection on the source file and select "Insert into multitrack" and then select the session, it inserts it 14-hours and 22-minutes into the blank 30-second session. This throws off the whole viewing slider and it becomes very difficult to manipulate the timeline. If I simply drag the file from the browser and then re-trim it, it's fine, but not using the insert command.
Why is this and is there a way to correct this?
Any help would be wonderful

It sounds like the file has BWF Time Reference metadata embedded. You can verify this by opening Window > Metadata and under the BWF tab, check the Time Reference field. To disable this behavior, uncheck Preferences > Multitrack > Use embedded timecode when inserting clips into Multitrack.

Dim. SCD2 issue, when parent value change. The child loses parent history.

Create a SCD2 type dimension with six levels in it. Alle levels have the same columns, see below (change the nr for the level)

When running the mapping, the hierachie is perfectly inserted into the table. When changing the
value of the L1 parent in te source and running the mapping again the following
is happend:
He closed the parent record with the old value and insert a till date.
He update alle child record with the new value
He inserts a new record with the new value of the parent.
What i should expect wat would happen was:
He closed the parent record with the old value and insert a till date.
He close alle child records with the old value and insert a till date.
He inserts new records for all child with the new value of the parent.
He inserts a new record with the new value of the parent.
I searched on the net for this issue and i found oracle fixed it in a patch 10.2.04 The bug is know under nr 6004133
"Child looses parent reference when SCD2 attribute change in parant.
Installed the patch(7005587) and renewed my dimension, table, and mapping in the repository. Ran the mapping, but the result is not what i expexted as
descriped above.
Help needed to fix this issue. So alle histoy is beeing saved.

There was a change in OWB 10.2.0.3 (I think it was this patch) to support this scenario.
If you go to the SCD settings panel for your dimension, each level also has the parent level's identifying column (this is the new bit) and you can set the Record History property for the parent identifier in order that a change in this will trigger history in the level (so the hierarchy can be versioned). So if you set this and synchronize the dimension operator in your map and redeploy the map, you should be in shape.
So for example if you had L1, L2, L3 with attributes ID, NAME, ATT, EFF_DATE and EXP_DATE then the SCD panel would have;

Executing query with arguments- issue when parameter value contains '&'

My application inserts 'First name', last name' and last upd date to the table. it inserts all the data properly. Next level I access the information along with other tables using same arguments. But it is not fetching any data. I noticed it happens whenever the '&' is included in the parameter (first name). eg:
'Margaret & John'. From the logs I noticed that first name it is not taking what I passed. It just stripping the first name from '&' onwards and taking only 'Margaret'. Here is the example from the log. You could notice only 'Margaret' instead of 'Margaret & John' in place of first argument.

Hi Reddy,
from the log it looks like the DbAdapter received the value as 'Margaret '. Because parameter binding is used by default, the database shouldn't try to interpret the & as it is inside a bind variable.
Could it be that the & is getting dropped somewhere else? Marc was suggesting you put that value inside a CDATA section or escape it. He probably showed that but when he hit Post Message it displayed the escaped & as &. I think we should find out where that & got dropped though. Normally BPEL will preserve it.

Issues when Insert and Analyze at the same time

Hi All,
We have a weekend job that used to take 12-15 hours usually and insert around 8 millions of records to a table from external table. Last weekend the same load took 60 hours and it move to Monday and there are some business impact.
While we investigate the same issue we identified that there is one more weekend analyze job for all the tables and indexes and took around almost same time and we noticed that the table we inserted the 8 million records alone it took around 15 hours. This table now has around 91 Core records.
We need to identify why this jobs taken long time as almost 4 times compare to the normal scenario.
I would like to know what exactly happen when Analyze and insert happened to the table at the same time. And What all issues can occur because this.

It is unclear what version you are using as you forgot to post that.
Furthermore it is unclear what 'Analyze' is, as analyze statistics was already deprecated in 9i.
Secondly, most people is this forum speak English, and they are accustomed international units only.

Performance issue when inserting into spatial indexed table with JDBC

We have a table named 'feature' which has a "sdo_geometry" column, and we created spatial index on that column,

Then we executed the following SQL to insert about 800 records into that table(We tried this by using DB visualizer and
our Java application, both of them were using JDBC driver to connect to the oracle 11gR2 database) .

insert into feature (id,desc,oshape) values (1002,xxx,xxxxx);
insert into feature (id,desc,oshape) values (1800,xxx,xxxxx);

Performance of insert with spatial index
It takes nearly 1 secs for inserting one record,compare to 50 records inserted per sec without spatial index,
which is 50x drop in peformance when doing insertion with spatial index.
However, when we copy and paste those insertion scripts into Oracle Client(same test and same table with spatial index), we got a totally different performance result:
more than 50 records inserted in 1 secs, just as fast as the insertion without building spatial index.
Is it because Oracle Client is not using JDBC? Perhaps JDBC was got something wrong when updating those spatial indexed tables.

Normally JDBC use auto-commit. So each insert can causes a commit.
I don't know about Oracle Client. In sqlplus, insert is just a insert,
and you execute "commit" to explicitly commit your changes.
So maybe this is the reason.

Issue when reading values of Select-options for Dynamic F4

Hi All,
I have provided dynamic F4 help on class name (ESTCAT) and characteristic name (ATNAM). Both are select options with no intervals. The class name should be entered to get the F4 help for characteristic name, else an message would appear to select a class name first. My message is coming when i press F4 on characteristic name without giving any class name. This is correct but if i enter the class name after this message and do an F4 for characteristic name, it still shows the same message which is not correct. The reason is the class name entered is not captured in the FM RS_REFRESH_FROM_SELECTOPTIONS output table and it is captured only if i hit enter after entering the class name.
Is it possible to get the class name in the FM output without hitting enter or any other way to resolve this issue?

Strange PDC issue when inserting compressor on a group with side chain

Hi Forum People!
Seem to have hit a brick wall trouble shooting this issue, and hope someone here can help.
Whenever I insert a compressor on a bus, and send a sidechain trigger to the compressor, PDC stops working for all multi-output synths. I can sidechain stereo tracks without an issue, but not group tracks with mutliple tracks routed through the groups.
For the record, as soon as I remove the send to the sidechain, PDC works normally.
Is this a limitation of Logic's PDC, or is there a workaround that I haven't discovered?

LOL! Sorry, didn't have time to respond yesterday. The problem was the way in which I'd set-up the group. Here's how I had the group set up, which broke PDC:
I created an auxiliary track (the group), inserted a compressor, and routed my drums direct to this group.
Here's how I fixed the problem:
instead of creating an aux channel for the group, I routed my drum outputs through an unused bus, which in turn created the group channel automatically.
I've only been using Logic for 1 month, having used Cubase for nearly 20 years, so realizing some things are done very differently.

Gray background issue when inserting a Jpeg into word.

Good Day,
I created a logo image in AI and exported it to a Jpeg file. When I insert it into Word 2014 it prints out as having a light gray back ground. When it's in either AI, PS or Word it looks great with no sign of the gray background. Does anybody have an idea how to fix it? I'm creating our company logo and it wouldn't look good if our customers saw the same background color. Thanks in advance.

What kind of color mode is the JPEG? RGB or CMYK?
Have you opened the JPEG in Photoshop and measured the background - which volor code is it?

How to insert data into a table only when data has changed its value (when compared to the previous inserted value)

I wish to insert data into a table only when the value of the inserted data has changed. Thus, in a time series, if the value of the data at time, t-1, is 206 then if the data to be inserted at time t is 206, then it is skipped (not entered).
If the value of the data at time t+1 is 206, it is skipped also; until the value changes, so if the value at t+1 was 205, then that would be inserted, and if at time t+2 the data is 206, it would be inserted too.
What is the best way to do it without increasing overheads?

This view works:

Inserting values using merge

I need help with inserting values using merge.
* I need to check all the units in a parent category. For example, NF_ARTICLECATEGORYID = 7462 is a parent category.
* Im going to compare all the units in the parent category(7642) to the units in a subcategory (8053).
* If the units in parent category(7642) is not present in the subcategory(8053) then the units will be inserted in the same table.

i got an error after running the script:
*Cause:    An UPDATE or INSERT statement attempted to insert a duplicate key.
For Trusted Oracle configured in DBMS MAC mode, you may see

why would it be duplicated? its a sequence and its unique.. I dont know, maybe there is something wrong my script..

1. What is the current value of the Sequence? Does the current value of sequence exist in the table? If yes, then increment the sequence to a value that is not present in the Table.
2. Do you have any unique constraint on any of the columns that you are inserting?
I have to ask you again, Why are you insisting on Merge statement when a simple Insert can do the job for you? Don't you feel that the below specified Merge statement is making things look more Complicated than they actually are, do you?
Think on it and then proceed. I hope these pointers help you to resolve the issue.
