Running a Windows 32 bit C++ application

Hello,
I have a Windows 32 bit VC++ application installed on my hard disk. I want that this application should be run when I click on a link on a web page. Can I do this using java web start. What i want to do is deploy this application on a client machine. I will then have a web server on his intranet. When he clicks on a link it will launch the client application on his hard disk. What i want to avoid is any sort of messages like " Do you want to save this file to the disk or run this program from the current location" and hence i would like to use java web start. Do you have any suggestions?

I have a Windows 32 bit VC++ application
ication installed on my hard disk. I want that this
application should be run when I click on a link on a
web page.
Can I do this using java web start.Perhaps it is technically possible (eg writing a little java wrapper that pulls the exe over and then launches it with runtime.exec("foo.exe")) but it misses the point.
Java Web Start is intended for use with applications written in Java (plus perhaps same native libs), that are executed using the standard JREs.
The other problem adressed is that nobody wants to have foreign code, that resides on some visited server, to execute without restrictions on one's client.
That's why the security stuff is in there.
Another problem is versioning, to sync server versions and the versions in the client cache.
want to do is deploy this application on a client
machine. I will then have a web server on his
intranet. When he clicks on a link it will launch the
client application on his hard disk.It is possibly easier for you to buy some other deployment tool that has been made for this purpose or to write some launcher yourself.
Let's say your launch descriptors are put in a .mld (my launch descriptor) file.
It might contain some hints on the application you want to start, or might contain even nothing and just acts as trigger for your launcher.
You register the .mld mime type with the browser to start up your launcher whenever an URL ending on an .mld extension is hit.
You launcher will then connect to the server, download the app (e.g. via secure copy 'scp') and starts it.
This could be done even with perl or python scripting.

Hello - I have been able to get the AIP installed.
Turns out that the installation was hanging because a previous version of Acrobat was already installed. On other machines with Acrobat, I would get a window stating that I had to remove the old software but on W7 x64, the installation simply failed. After removing the old version and trying again, the new installation succeeded.
Thanks to everyone for their help.

  • LabSQL can not run with MySQL 64-bit ODBC connector

I have developed a small piece of LabVIEW program to retrieve the data from MySQL database and displayed as curve with XY-Graph. The bridge between database and the program is the MySQL ODBC connector and the LabSQL VIs (which is quite useful). The program runs properly in my 32-bit computer for developing while a error caused in LabSQL part and stated that there is a architecture mismatch:
Exception occured in Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application in ADO Connection Open.vi->WeatherDataRetrive.vi
Is there anyone encountered similar problem and would you please provide some help?
    Many thanks in advance.

Are you using LabVIEW 32 Bit? Even if you run on Windows 64 Bit any DLL loaded on behalve of an application has to have the bitness of that application, not the bitness of the OS. And I'm pretty sure that the ADO/DAO interface that LabSQL is using will not provide any bridging if the ODBC driver is not in the same bitness as the calling application.
So if you are using LabVIEW 32 Bit, install the 32 Bit MyODBC driver or change to using 64 Bit LabVIEW instead, although there might be other problems with ADO/DAO not working properly for a 64 Bit application.

  • Run on a Windows 64-bit operating system either as a native application or under WOW64

I am using Visual Studio 2013 Professional, and need to compile my application in a way that it works with existing libraries on my system that are only 32 bit.
I read this someplace ....   "When you compile an application, you can specify that it should run on a Windows 64-bit operating system either as a native application or under WOW64 (Windows 32-bit on Windows 64-bit). WOW64 is a compatibility
environment that enables a 32-bit application to run on a 64-bit system. WOW64 is included in all 64-bit versions of the Windows operating system."
Can anyone tell me HOW I "specify that it should run on a Windows 64-bit operating system either as a native application or under WOW64 (Windows 32-bit on Windows 64-bit)."  ?

There is no "toolbar" folder in Java ME SDK installation dir anymore. All developer tools are moved to Netbeans plugins.
Remember, that Java ME SDK consists of two parts: emulator and developer tools.
In the given use case only emulator and other command line tools are accessible (see "bin" folder). You can run samples or your Java ME applications via command line interface.
To develop, debug and profile your applications you have to install Netbeans (6.9.1 or later, latest 7.0.1 is recommended) and Java ME SDK Tools on top of it.
You can do it either via installer (Netbeans have to be installed before you start Java ME SDK installation) or later from Netbeans Plugins manager (see Developer Guide in "docs" folder for details).
So, nothing wrong with installation in your case.
The only problem is the broken shortcut for documentation in Start menu. We will fix it soon.

  • Application Runs Under Windows 8.1 But Not Under Windows XP (I Know XP Is Deprecated)

The problem is with the obtuse error message put out by Windows's program loader. It reads, in part, "..is not a valid Win32 application." The application runs everywhere except on Windows XP. Looking for root cause of the problem. It's a very
simple application. Only a few lines of code.
    C:\Packaged-Software\32-BIT\Reboot.exe is not a valid Win32 application.
    Proposed nature of the problem:
    1. The file was downloaded from a website but the download was incomplete.
    2. The full file system filename path contains bad characters such blank space.
    3. Visual Studio constructed an application that won't run anywhere much less on XP.
    4. The supporting libraries are not properly installed (e.g. .NET Framework4, and VCREDIST).
    Retorts:
    1. The file wasn't downloaded from a website and is intact.
    2. The filename path doesn't contain any spaces.
    3. The application runs under Windows 8.1.  Also on Windows 7.
    4. The supporting libraries are properly installed.
So, what's the problem?  One surely will not discover the root cause from "not a valid application."
Body must be 4 to 60000 characters long.  I had put the code here.  It isn't 60000 character long.  But it validated as if there are more than 60000 characters.  Sorry for the incomplete submission due to website construction error.

    Hi F7H2fw,
How did you develop the application ?
Here is a similar symptom and this may explain the issue somehow:
    Setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vsnetsetup/archive/2012/10/16/setup-exe-is-not-a-valid-win32-application.aspx
I suspect there is a compatibility issue here .
Considering this is more likely a developing issue .It is recommended to ask for help from our MSDN Forum .They are more familiar with the developing issue .If it is possible ,please attach the code in that thread .Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

  • LabView 2012 32-bit, creating an installer to run on Windows 7 64-bit

Hello I have the full development LabView system installed on a 32-bit PC running Windows XP.  I'm trying to create in an installer that will be ran on a 64-bit machine running Windows 7.  I'm able to create the installer, but when I try to run the installer I get on the Windows 7 64-bit machine I get:
"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you’re running.  Check your computer’s system information to see whether
you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64(64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."
I tried changing the compatibility mode under properties, without any success.  What else can be causing this issue.  Thanks.

There should be abolutely no problem installing or running a 32 bit LabVIEW executable in windows 64 bit. I do it all the time.
There must be something else. can you give a bit more details about your application? Are you including the runtime engine in the installer?
"I tried changing the compatibility mode under properties, without any success"
What exactly did you do here?
LabVIEW "full" does not allow building applications or installers unless you also have the application builder. I guess you have that.
LabVIEW Champion . Do more with less code and in less time .

  • Will RoboHelp 7 Run in Windows 7 32-bit?

I've seen several threads clearly state that RoboHelp 7 won't work on a Windows 64-bit machine, but I was wondering if it is possible to run it on a Windows 32-bit PC?

    Hi there
Indeed I had awful luck making RoboHelp 7 work on my own Windows 7 setup. But I'm not sure if it was because it was Windows 7 or if it was because it was Windows 7 64 bit version.
Fortunately Microsoft anticipated that applications may not behave properly in Windows 7 and they made the Windows XP mode virtual PC available for Windows 7 users. UNfortunately it doesn't work with the "Home Premium" version. You have to have Professional or Ultimate installed in order to use it.

  • ODBC access to an Oracle DB running on Windows Server 64 bit?

I'm being told by a company that there is no way to connect via ODBC from my Mac to an Oracle database hosted on a Windows 64 bit server. Does anyone know whether that is true, and if not, what tool or driver one could use to make the connection?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I was setting up VMware vCenter 4.1 (probably the only well known and largely used product with this lethal mix) and needed to setup an ODBC access to Oracle on the 32 bit side of Windows to setup the Update Manager server component, which is still a 32 bit application)
The problem with Oracle configuration is that in no way I found a 32 bit ODBC registered driver after the setup (of the 32 bit client and the 64 database server). I tried some third party driver for oracle (e.g. easysoft). They registered in the 32 bit ODBC manager but they never got a successful connection.
Also if this vCenter requirement is questionable (more questionable considering that the setup of this 32 component is not allowed on a 32 separate OS, not because it is separate but because is a 32 bit OS) I would get it working.
Could suggest a way to get this working?
    Thanks
Fabio D'AlfonsoWhen you install the Oracle client software on Windows (which is necessary to support ODBC, as the Oracle ODBC driver sits on top of the native client software) the ODBC driver is NOT installed by default. You have to go back and do a "custom" install and select the "Windows components".
