Running livecycle es 8.2 on suse linux enterprise server

Hi, I've recently received a strange bug while trying to startup jboss livecycle on suse linux enterprise server. The error that occurs first is:<br /><br />2008-10-23 10:58:23,065 ERROR [org.jboss.deployment.MainDeployer] Could not initialise deployment: file:/app/jboss/server/all/deploy/adobe-livecycle-native-jboss-x86_linux.ear<br />java.lang.OutOfMemoryError<br />     at java.util.zip.ZipFile.open(Native Method)<br />     at java.util.zip.ZipFile.<init>(ZipFile.java:203)<br />     at java.util.jar.JarFile.<init>(JarFile.java:132)<br />     at java.util.jar.JarFile.<init>(JarFile.java:70)<br /><br />After some research i found out that this is not a java heap space bug nor a livecycle bug , but a java 1.5 bug, the bug database url is as follows:<br /><br />http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4705373<br />duplicate of:<br />http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6280693<br /><br />As stated this is a java bug that was fixed in the mustang release (jdk1.6), but since we cant use jdk1.6, is it even possible to deploy lc on suse linux enterprise server ?

Hi Jayan, thanks for the reply, but as I stated, this is not a java heap space problem. I have done all the necesary tests to confirm that, the XmX is set to 1280m which is the maximum for the 32-bit jdk and at the point of the crash there's still plety of java heap space avaible (the crash occurs after like a 3 minuts already in the early stage of the deployment phae). Also, when Livecycle does run out of heap space (which happened to us on some windows machines), you get a clear message java.lang.OutOfMemory : Out of heap space, which does not occur in our case.
So to clariy, the java heap space is here not the problem, the bug is the same as in sun's bug database (see links for details) and has to do with the mmap system call under linux.

  • Can't Install Solution Manager on Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10 - JAVA

    Hello everyone!
I've been trying to complete the pre-requisites in order to install Solution Manager SR2 on Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10 x64 - SP1.
There's only one last condition that I haven't met, and it's the Java Runtime Environment version...
I checked the recommended note 867110 and it says that  i need to have installed the J2SDK 1.4.2_08.
SLES10 includes the 1.4.2_13, so I had to uninstall it, and download the right version from  Sun Microsystem's official webpage.
When I installed the version 1.4.2_08, i'm not able to run SAPINST because there's no Java Runtime Environment running on the server.
I started to investigate and I found in some forums [NOT EXPLICITLY] that there's no port for J2SDK 1.4.2_08 on x64 linux systems.
I can't believe this is true because SLES10 is recommended by SAP to install Solution Manager, so I hope somebody can help me on this.
My specific question is: Does anybody know if is true that J2SDK 1.4.2_08 is NOT COMPATIBLE with x64 Linux?
In case of being true, is there any way to be able to run SAPINST ? because if I enable the version SLES brings built in, i'm able to run the SAPINST but it detects that i'm not running version 1.4.2_08 and doesn't allow me to continue installation.
I hope somebody can help me soon...
    Regards!

    > SAPINST_JRE_HOME=/opt/IBMJava2-s390-142/jre/bin:$PATH
    >
    > JAVA_HOME=/opt/IBMJava2-s390-142/jre/bin:$PATH
You downloaded the wrong version - the one you have is for Z-Linux(Linux running on the mainframe - not for x64).
You need to download the x86_64 (or AMD64) version.
Install the correct one and try on a new console:
    export JAVA_HOME=/opt/IBMJava2-amd64-142
    export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH
    Then execute
    java -fullversion
and it should show the correct version.

  • Install Oracle 10g on Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10

Will 10g install on Suse Linux Enterprise Server 10? If so, what setting do I need to change to get it to install?

Yes, it will install. Oracle supports it.Apparently they forgot to tell support. Certify still holds at SLES 9.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/support/metalink/index.html
It's possible to make it work. However, I usually watch http://www.novell.com/products/server/oracle/matrix.html for info.

I installed Oracle database 10g on SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 edition.
But this massage pop up when I used my browser first time before start database.
Actually when I clicks on yes to start database.
The web browser you are using is not optimized for this release of Oracle enterprise manager. It is recommended that you use one of the following:
    * Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.5, 6.0 or higher
    * Netscape Navigator version 7 and higher
    *Mozilla version 1.3.1 and higher
Dose any one know hoe to upgrade mozilla or install internet explorer 5.5, 6.0 or higher or SLES 8.

You can download package for your distribution (for example) from http://www.mozilla.org or directly from SuSE ftp server ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.1/suse/i586

  • Flash plugin 10.3 not working in SUSE linux enterprise 10 version.

OS using: SUSE linux enterprise 10 version
    current Flash Plugin: 9.0
I have downloaded the latest version of Flash plugin 10.3. for linux and replaced the old flash.so file with the new one. but after updating, i got only blank white screen. When i rigth click on the browser, i can see flash plugin 10.3 menu. I don't know what is the issue. Flash plugin 9 is working fine without any issue. I browse through adobe website and findout some additional libraries are required for FP 10. Is that the problem now. If so how can i fix that. Somebody please help me out.

Sorry, I know nothing about Linux; it was the only idea I had.
The only other suggestion I have is to try updating the device drivers for the video adapter, but I'm not sure this will fix the problem.
Hopefully someone from Adobe can have a look at your problem tomorrow at US daytime.

If you have SAP OSS access, then please browse through service.sap.com/instguides --> SAP Business Suite --> ERP --> ERP 6.0

  • Using ?import:file? command in a linux Enterprise server

    Hello.
I'm with a problem with a template. I never had a client that use linux as OS in enterprise server.
I work with embedded bi publisher in JDEDWARDS and usually i use this command to call dinamic footers and never had a problem. For example
<?import:file:///\\10.153.2.86\BIP\R5543501\footerlastpage.rtf?>. This customer is in linux and dont know nothing about linux but i think that the problem is in this command because linux dont use " \\ " to perform this command \\10.153.2.86\BIP\R5543501\footerlastpage.rtf.
Someone know how i can solve this problem? i tried something like this ( <?import:file://///10.153.2.86\BIP\R5543501\footerlastpage.rtf?>) but still not working and cant find much information in internet about this.
    Any help is appreciated
    Tks in Adavance
    Paulo Duarte

    Hi Paulo,
You can import subtemplates this way:
    <?import:http://myservername/subtemplates.rtf?> (access over HTTP)
    or
    <?import:file:///mydirectory/subtemplates.rtf?> (access over File System)
(Notice: http uses two forward slashes // and file uses three /// )
So in your case try this: <?import:file:///10.153.2.86/BIP/R5543501/footerlastpage.rtf?>
Another thing to make sure is set is this:
    1) http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/de/community/bip/tipps/Subtemplates/image01.png
    2) http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/de/community/bip/tipps/Subtemplates/image02.png

What should i do? I hope there is solution for it other than installing another linux flavor.

On SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11, the installation will pass the operating system prerequisite checks if you change each 10 or 11 to 9 in the /etc/SuSE-release file. Ensure that you replace the original values in the /etc/SuSE-release file after the Oracle installation is complete.
Original value: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (x86)
Changed value: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 (x86)

  • Error while installation of PI 7.1 in SUSE Linux 10 SP2

    Hi,
While doing installation, i am getting the error as "At least version 2.4-1 of the saplocales package is required for SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 10. Current version: not installed. See also SAP Note 171356.
Even when, i am trying to install the saplocales using the command rpm -Uvh saplocales-2.4-4.x86_64.rpm
I am getting the error as below
    error: Failed dependencies:
    sap-locale >= 1.0-25.5.3 is needed by saplocales-2.4-4.x86_64
    Please suggest the solution.
    Regards
    Karunakar

    Dear Karunakar,
when using the latest prerequistie checker, there shouldn't be any request to install the saplocales package. This package delivers locales which are no longer supported, however when doing upgrades you might need them. These locales are for example SAPUNI, TRANSSIBERIAN or ASIAN UNIFICATION.
Could you lay down, why you need these locales?
Additionally, I strongly suggest to install the sap-locale package from Novell because it fixes serve locale issue with several glibc locales (tr_TR, lv_LV, ...). This package is available through the online update (maybe you have to set this up separately).
More information about saplocales and sap-locale is available in SAP note 187864
    Thanks,
      Hannes
PS: I forgot to mention, that saplocales 2-4.4 needs SP3 installed (but I stronly assume that you do not use the deprecated blended codepages at all)

    Hi Sudheer,
I am sorry but I guess you are using the wrong versions here
SAP does not support SUSE11 and also Java version should be 1.4.2.....
SAP only supports SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10,SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9,SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 8
Refer to SAP notes 171356 for SAP on Linux
    1172419 for Java versions
    These are highly useful
Let me know if you need any other info.
