S750's, grr!

I will would like to formally state that I am quite angry so to speak as of now, I just this week had my sub go south on me, and what I mean by that is my center channel will no longer work, and I don't mean the center sat either, I mean no matter what I plug into the center channel it fails to work. I am mad, now true, I've had these speakers for almost two years now and this is the first major problem I've had beyond a few hisses and clicks I would get from the center channel or side channels when watching a dvd movie, using my external decoder.
Now my thing is all 7 sats work fine, but I have a question. I've love 7.1 sound especially when I play games like half-life 2 on my computer, the 7.1 sound is amazing, however I notice when using my decoder and such, I can't get that 7.1 sound using a digital source, my decoder can't recognize 7.1 sound formats and resultantly decodes the sounds a stereo format, which is not what I want. . . . Basically I want to know first of all is it all possibly to buy a new sub from someone other then creative, and connect the sub my 7 sats up to a separate 7.1 receiver?
Now my next question is, even if the first question is not possible, then I want to know is there anyway I can get a 7.1 sound system that connects up to my computer in the same fashion that my s750's did/do . . . because when I play half-life 2 I want that true 7.1 sound source I don't want it outputted my decoder or receiver and have that device decode it as a stereo source. I'm sorry but I addicted to the 7.1 sound as well as the best sound possible.
So can somebody help me out here, and let me just say I refuse to RMA, and go through all that stuff with creative.

most games does not use AC3 format for their sounds, therefore if you do use a digital output you will only benefit from the 2 front channels.
to get true 5.1 (7.1) in games you will need to connect the speakers directly to the soundcard, not use an external decoder.

  • Canon S750 printer not working after upgrading to Leopard

Leopard is brilliant, and everything works after I upgraded from Tiger except... my Canon S750 printer gives error messages and fails to print. This is VERY annoying. I can't seem to find an S750 driver for OS X 10.5 on Canon's web site. So, what to do next? Just wait, and keep logging on to Canon's web site in the hope that, one day, the driver will be there? I can't find any official statement from Canon as to what they're up to. Are they currently working on drivers for Leopard? Do they have any projected "release dates"? Are they at all interested, or would they prefer to sell me another printer perhaps? Any information on what I should do now will be gratefully received. Thanks.

UPDATE... my S750 printer has suddenly started to print OK! This is rather bizarre, since I've not re-booted, haven't un-installed/re-installed the printer. End of topic!

  • A solution to the S750 speaker system problem

Well my s750 died just like everybody elses. But after creative wanted me to pay 75% of my purchase price, I found a better solution. Nope, I am not fixing the unit like you guy's. I do not see the need to fix a poorly design system! I am not sure if creative or indigo/bash/blade audio is to be blamed. But if I had to pick, I would say "indigo/bash/blade audio". Years ago before blade audio became indigo, I had a chance to visit their location in ontario Canada. This was just when they stop making the blade audio car amps.
While I was there, I happened to see this long list of brand names they had started to make amp modules for. Names like Harman International, Klipsch and so on. Anyway I cast the blame on indigo for this reason: Some years ago I had purchased a set of "harman international" infinity IL series speakers. Like our creative s750, the infinity shares a bash powered subwoofer system. And just like the s750 the infinity subwoofer like to blow up too! In the case of the infinity, the power supply was the weak link. The amp module in the infinity at that time, was built just like the blade audio car amps before. Which in my opinion is a much better design than what is being used in the s750. I remember one of the sale guy at circuit city at the time saying, "I wish we would drop this model". He went on to tell me the failure on the powered units were very high. You know there is a problem when the mid level Creative Inspire T7700 7.1, out last the flagship s750. Now, whats my better solution you guy's want to know? Two words , Simplifi Digital! The 7075a 7.1 amplifier along with Definitive Technology Pro Sub1000 and the remaing surround speakers from my s750 system. Yes, it did cost me more to go this route. But what I now have is a much more reliable system. And a sound that the s750 can only dream about. My s750 died while I was listening to Dave Bruebeck quartet "take five" at mid volume. With my current setup, I can listen mid volume all day long with no hiccups.
For those who my have the cash to spend. I recommend looking at my direction!? Keep this in mind, make sure whatever powered subwoofer you choose, is adjustable up to 50hz. The creative surround speakers dont play very well below 20hz. Also make sure whatever powered sub you choose don't use a BASH amplifier. For those looking at the s750 as a purchase, good luck. Or go over to partsexpress.com and get the Dayton Part Number 300-670, surround speakers. Then get the simplifi digital 7075 7.1 amplifier and power subwoofer of your choice and make a better/best system. Sorry Creative Labs! This post is NOT intended to cast negativity. I use and like the products you offer. I just do not like the s750, and the reasons are all over this forum and elsewhere on the net. I currently own 3 audigy 2zs sound cards, three Inspire t7700 speaker system, three sound blasters modems and yes, one defective/dead s750 speaker system. If anything use this post as a positive to what Creative Labs could offer in the future. A system like I now have, sure would be nice with the Creative name all over it.

My system specs below. What I have now simply blows the S750 away. And this is mated to my Audigy 2zs card. I am tempted to try my Terratec Aueron 7.1 universe which does sound better than my 2zs. The Simlifi Digital amplifier is one serious unit. This amp has one HUGE toroidal transformer inside of it! I was able to see it thru the vents on top of the cover. Definitive Technology ProSub 1000 Subwoofer Specifications:Complement: One 10" woofer with polymer cone coupled to one 10" infrasonic radiator

  • Connecting a Different Speaker to the S750

My computer decided to create an error that shot a high pitched garble throughout my speaker system. Needless to say thankfully it seems it only ruined one speaker the center channel.
The center channel only produces sound from its midrange woofer now. If there is a fix for that i'd love to hear it.
For now i have an old sony center speaker to replace it with. Just curious if its ok to connect a different speaker to the s750. Its power rating its around 70watts rms.

Any 8 ohms speaker will work! Or you could just get the MC100.

  • S750 US speaker working in Europe (110V - 220V) converter integrated?

Hi - somebody know if there is an integrated power converter in the S750 speaker system? I was relocating to Germany and took my S750 speaker system with me but I'm not sure if I can connect it directly to the 220V system. Most PC's have an integrated power converter and I was wondering if somebody of you knows if there is an integrated power converter in the S750 too?
    Thx.
    Faehner

    Faehner,
The power adaptor is inbuilt in the subwoofer but it's not a power converter adaptor. The power specification is written at the back of the subwoofer near to the power connecter. You have use the correct voltage that's stated there.

  • Creative Labs What Is Wrong With Your Manufacturing!!!??!?! RE: Gigaworks S750, XFI e

Ok this is a straight forward RANT! In building my new computer I decided to let Creative be my folks for sound since I've always been impressed with the EAX and surround sound, the first time I played EQ in 4. 3D sound on a first gen SBLi've card I was in awe. I've bought so many speakers and sound cards since and been happy. So I decide with my new computer I will buy the XFI Fatality, Progamer headphones with mic, and the Gigaworks s750 7. speakers. Well I got the headphones and the sound card first, right off the headphones left side sounded blown out to me, so I sent them back, and the new pair worked fine. The XFI card became the issue next I had the cracking and popping noises, I made a few tweaks and was able to kill most of it, but I have 4 gigs of Ram and when I turn on the memory hole in the bios so that XP Pro 64 can see the 4 gigs brings back the popping noises. So I have to turn of 2 gigs of ram that cost me over $300 so I don't have nasty noise when I play games. Oh yea and I sent the card back as well in hopes I'd get a repaired one.... No Such Luck... So then I get to my speakers, the left rear channel is making a sound like a blown speaker so I swap the plug with another channel and its fine and the other speaker in that channel makes the noise, so I send back the sub as a RMA at a cost of $30 to me (not like giving them $800+ for broken stuff isn't bad enough... nothing like salt on the wound.) So after 2 weeks of no sound other than headphones for my gaming, I get my sub back, I hook it up and.... Now the left rear channel is totally DEAD. So now I'm PISSED, I call up and hold it together when talking to the RMA folks. They offer to send me a whole new set of speakers, so I'm thinking cool, maybe its in a cable or the box or something.... Today I get home from work and see the box, I'm like sweet new stuff and spend a good hour carefully rewiring my whole desk with the new speakers and cables. Get it all hooked up and click on the sound test for the 7. and........ The Side Left Channel is DEAD WTF!!!!!!
!!! All I can say is it sucks there is no real competition for sound against Creative, because they know their product will be the demand and if they put out a poorly manufactured item they can get away with only so many people will even bother RMAing and will just li've with it thinking they did something wrong. I am truly disturbed by this trend and can only hope that after I actually get everything working in 6 months or so if they ever fix the noise issue with XFI and maybe a few more RMAs of my sub to get one they TEST before sending it to me... I hate to say it but I think next comp I build I'm going to have to start looking at other sound companies. Its sad to lose faith in a company you hold in such high regards for so long as pioneers. • How to connect S750 to a Pioneer receiver

My HDTV only has 2 component input. That's why I want to get a Pioneer VSX-050TX receiver to add several more inputs. Since I already have s750 in my computer, I don't want to get another set of speakers.
I'm new to receiver and have no idea how to connect it. What I want to do is that the home theatre and the computer can share the s750. And I can also take advantage of the receiver's decode functions. Thanks!

Most receivers will have 6 analog inputs for 5.1 audio (or 8 for 7.1). You will need two "camcorder connectors" ( http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cg...tem=SP-AVCABLE ) and one "male minijack to male stereo RCA cable ( http://shop.store.yahoo.com/chicagod...autostre2.html ). You can find the second cable much cheaper at RadioShack. Because I don't have 7.1 speakers, I can't tell you what to connect to where, so you'll have to experiment or wait for another poster. You'll plug the minijacks into the soundcard and the RCA ends into the receiver.
You can connect the satellites of the S750 directly to the receiver's amped outputs, using the receiver's amp instead of the GigaWorks's. Plug the subwoofer into the LFE output in your receiver to the subwoofer in on the S750 amp (you may need another minijack to RCA cable), using the GigaWorks's amp for the subwoofer only. Note that many HT subwoofers have their own amp built in and do not use the receiver to amplify them. The LFE out on the receiver is unamplified.

  • Connecting DVD-Player with GigaWorks S750

I'm going to buy a GigaWorks S750 system. Will I need an extra decoder like the DDTS-100 when I want to connect the soundsystem with the Computer (with Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro) and one of these things: DVD-Player, Radio, Walkman?
    Thank's for your answers!

No, I wouldn't bother. You can connect both radio and walkman to two of the line-in sockets on the Audigy's external hub. A DVD player can be connected using the coax or optical inputs. One thing you can't do with the Audigy 2 is use Dolby Pro Logic II for PS2 games. If you don't have a PS2 to connect then, that's not really a problem.

  • GigaWorks S750 with DDTS-100 Decoder - Center/Sub channel not working.

I have the S750 with the DDTS decoder and everything was working fine until the other day. I have tested several times and from what I can tell there is no signal being sent from the sub to the decoder from the Center/Sub channel wire (S750 sub) to the decoder. Plugging the center speaker wire into the left speaker jack will produce a test signal so I know it is not the speaker. Seems the sub has gone out along with the center channel. I checked the fuse and all is well. Please help...
