Safari Overriding Stylesheets on #header or #header-inner?

I've been having off-and-on problems with (what seems like) Safari overriding styles on an iMac G5.
The first time this was appearant was a month or two ago when certain text on pages started defaulting to Arial rather than whatever was loosely specified. Eventually that problem just went away. Similarly, now it seems like it's started applying display:none; to #header or #header-inner. The changes show up on a lot of standardized blog layouts and the Safari RSS reader pages.
Does Safari have some sort of user-stylesheet that gets loaded last? Even if so, I can't figure out how it would be changing without my knowledge.

I have the same issue with Safari, but with mp3 files not playing using a HTML5 player on my website. I have hotlink protection enabled and the audio plays on every other browser except Safari, so there's seems to be a problem playing any videos or mp3 files when hotlink protection is enabled.

  • Loading custom override stylesheet into custom wiki theme

    I'm trying to set up a custom wiki theme on 10.5 server. I haven't had any trouble using .xsl overrides. I created a .css file based off the overrides.css stylesheet and I'm trying to get it loaded as part of my custom theme, but haven't had any luck. I'm trying not to modify any of the default .css files, but rather just have my override stylesheet get loaded last. I've read and re-read "Extending Your Wiki Server," but haven't seen any reference to this specifically.

    Hello,
    I was searching the www when I found the instruction to add this line to my code:
    ctx_ddl.set_attribute('german_lexer','theme_language','AUTO');
    But this was not the right answer, because I only get another error message:

  • Font override in Report Header

    I have a quirky issue. I am trying to add a set of headers on top of the typical report column headers in a report. I inherited this from another long gone developer..
    What they did was build a div wrapped around a table to get the formatting they wanted, but the table cells have a span trying to override the body's css tags..
    I have looked at it for a few hours today and spent enough time trying...
    Hopefully there is a css guru who can offer some input!

  • Is Safari Find function flexible? (Search for inner strings of characters?)

    I'm running 10.6.8 with Safari Version 5.1.7 (6534.57.2). I see that when you search a web page using the Safari Find function, you can only search for the beginnings of words, not for character strings within the words. Is it possible to expand the Find function's capability to search for inner strings of characters?

  • Why does Safari drop stylesheets after browsing a few pages?

    I've got an intranet here at work and we're trying to figure out why Safari drops default.css when we browse around a few different pages.
    Basically after a short while, it stops recognising our default.css and renders it all as if default.css didn't exist.
    I have checked in the developer tools to confirm that it stopped using default.css so now I am truly stuck.
    It only happens in Safari and not Chrome which suprised me. Does anyone know if bad HTML or validation will stop the css being rendered properly?

    You can do some basic Safari trouble shooting by:
    Safari - Reset Safari
    Safari - Empty Cache
    You can also be just low on RAM. As a general rule your system should have about 500MB or more of FREE RAM. To check to see how much your system has open Activity Monitor - System Memory Tab and look for the amount of free RAM. You can find AM in Applications - Utilities - Activity Monitor. Remember to check when you are seeing a slow down otherwise the information will be meaningless. The graphic will look similar to:

  • Overriding Soap Header using Axis(SOAP) Receiver

    Hi Experts,
    I am having a problem in including the SOAP Header in the XML using the SOAP Axis Receiver Adapter. Well I am not sure on how to place this structure in the header:
    <SoapHeader>
        <Header1>
            <child1>
            <child2>
        </Header1>
        <Header2>
            <child1>
            <child2>
        </Header2>
    </SoapHeader
    I have already tried overriding the SOAP Header via Java Mapping but it is not working when I send it to the third-party. I believe this header should be directly encoded using the axis module, but I can only find examples for simple headers and not nested ones...
    Please help.

    Hi,
    you simply place your header template in the handler configuration. If you need to set some values of the header dynamically, you can pass each value in the dynamic configuration header. The axis handler will fill the header with the supplied values.
    The Axis Note 1039369 describes a few header insertion examples that you should look at.

  • Ok so when using safari search in header - it uses google.co.kr instead of .co.uk when javascript is turned on

    So when using safari and using the header to search - google comes up with .co.kr instead of .co.uk
    This only happens when javascript is turned on.

    Try checking your Google search settings.

  • Different data_table header styles

    I am trying to use different styles for the column headings in a data_table. Specifically, I want some of the headings to be leftt aligned, some right aligned and some to be centred.
    I can do this for the data in the columns by using a list of styles in the "columnClasses" attribute, but the "headerClass" attribute applies to all headers.
    The header facets for the column contain a <h:panel_group> as the header is composed of some static text and a couple of buttons.
    I have tried using a "styleClass" attribute on the panel_group. This results in a <span> HTML element being generated with the required style class but it does not seem to effect the text alignment.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    I am trying to use different styles for the column
    headings in a data_table. Specifically, I want some of
    the headings to be leftt aligned, some right aligned
    and some to be centred.
    I can do this for the data in the columns by using a
    list of styles in the "columnClasses" attribute, but
    the "headerClass" attribute applies to all headers.I'm having the same problem, but it gets much worse than what you described.
    I'm have an arbitrarily deep tree structure I've retrieved from my backing bean, and I want to display it in a data table. Each node has a label and maybe a description, for example.
    1. The first problem is how to give the node's label a different style than the other node information. Semantically the <th> element is ideal. The problem, however, is that I can't generate a header for a node's label, because the list of nodes itself is being generated. That is, if I use:
    <html:dataTable value="#{tree.nodeList}" var="node">
         <html:column>
         <jsf:facet name="header">
              <html:outputText value="#{node.label}" />
         </jsf:facet>Nothing gets put inside the header, as the node is being iterated. This means I have to resort to a crummy hack of nesting a table inside a table for the children:
    <html:dataTable value="#{tree.nodeList}" var="node">
         <html:column>
              <html:dataTable value="#{node.nodeList}" var="childNode">
                   <html:column>
                        <jsf:facet name="header">
                             <html:outputText value="#{node.label}" />
                        </jsf:facet>
                        <html:dataTable>
                             <html:column>
                                  <jsf:facet name="header">
                                       <html:outputText value="#{childNode.label}" />
                                  </jsf:facet>
                             </html:column>
                        </html:dataTable>
                   </html:column>
              </html:dataTable>
         </html:column>
    </html:dataTable>The hack gets uglier (than the useless outermost table), because if you'll notice, to show a label of a child node as a header, I have to put another nested dummy table in my page.
    2. Now that I've managed to generate <th> (with a hack), where do I put other information about the node? If I put it in the enclosing table, it shows up before the node's label (in the <th> of the enclosed table). If I put it in the enclosed table, it will be repeated for each child node enumerated! Therefore, I'm forced to put it in the header facet of the enclosed table.
    3. Now that I'm stuck with putting all the parent node information in a child table's headers, how do I show different header styles? (This is the limitation you mentioned.) I may, for instance, want to show the node's label, the node's description, and other important information about the node.
    4. I can skip this whole <th> mess (reluctantly, because I want to specify <th> semantics by actually using <th>) by just putting everything in normal <td> elements. But this doesn't result in multiple rows like a <th> would.
    5. What if each of my nodes wants to specify its own style? I can put a styleClass attribute on an <html:outputText>, but as was already mentioned, this results in a <span> style---not a style of the entire row!
    6. If, miraculously, after hours I'm able to randomly get the right combination that will give me a styled header for each node and a sub-table of child-nodes, how do I do recursion? (Remember, my tree is arbitrarily deep.)
    7. I could use the JSTL iteration elements and generate my own table, but I've heard rumors that JSTL and JSF don't play will together. What do I do when I want to generate some JSF action within this JSTL-generated table? Can I really just drop a JSF component inside a JSTL iteration?
    JSF's dataTable seems nice in a book example, with a single-depth list of something from a database, with static headers, with alternating color styles. But trying to do something in the real world (few things are more fundamental in computer science than a tree structure) quickly seems to throw up all sorts of walls. Maybe I'm missing something really easy, here---any tricks are appreciated.

  • Header trouble

    I am new to both DreamWeaver and CSS. I am using DreamWeaver
    CS3 to develop a website for our company. I used the health_nutr
    design as a starting point but made modifications to fit our needs.
    My problem lies within the header. I inserted a header image using
    a div tag. Now I need to add a "Home" and "Contact Us" link along
    with a search field to allow users to search the site. Originally I
    drew the ap div's where I needed them and inserted the images. I
    could not get these to view the same in IE and Safari. In one or
    the other the images would either be dropped or flying up too high.
    I tried every positioning possible, with relative, absolute, etc. I
    then removed the ap div tags and inserted a table and entered what
    I needed there. This works perfectly on the main index page. On all
    the other pages, it either makes part of the header invisible or it
    adds white space below the header section.
    The attached code is a page that has a table added to the
    header. It shows fine in IE but in Safari, part of the header image
    is missing.
    Is there a better way to be doing this? Or what am I missing?
    I'm on a deadline for this project and I'm at my wit's end trying
    to figure this out. Thank you for any help or direction you can
    give.

    It sounds like you are using a 3-column table either in the header or at the top of your document. Why not use tabs instead? Tabs are really much more versatile.

    What are your thoughts?
    Thank you

    I'm troubled by these answers because they seem to further muddy the water.  Here's the important concept -
    All links in the TEMPLATE file should be one of three kinds -
    1.  Relative to the template file, e.g.,
    <a href="../ (meaning that you must go up one level from the template folder
    to reach the root of the site, hence all other files, since none of them
    should be in the templates folder)
    2.  Relative to the site root, e.g.,
    <a href="/ (meaning that one would begin looking for the linked file at the
    root of the site and follow the pathing from that point)
    3.  Absolute, e.g.,
    <a href="http:// (meaning that the link is to a page external to the site).
    Seems that none of the suggestions are putting you on that path first.

    Okay ... working up to sterner measures relating to Safari preference files.
    The following technique will clear Bookmarks, Top Sites, passwords, etc. Make a note of your passwords and other forms data, and address book details if you're using them.
    We're going to try rebuilding all your Safari preference files/folders. (This is a more drastic measure than just resetting.) If it does work, we can probably get your BookMarks and Top Sites back afterwards.
    (1) Quit Safari if you have it open.
    (2) Go Start > My Computer.
    (3) From the Tools menu, select Folder Options ...
    (4) Click the View tab.
    (5) Make sure Show hidden files and folders is selected.
    (6) Click OK.
    (7) In My Computer, open Local Disk C:
    (8) Open the Documents and Settings folder.
    (9) Open the folder with the name of the XP user account in which Safari isn't displaying correctly.
    (10) Open the Application Data folder.
    (11) Open the Apple Computer folder.
    (12) Rename the Safari folder "Safari1" and drag it out onto the desktop.
    (13) Open the Preferences folder.
    (14) Drag the com.apple.Safari plist file out onto the desktop.
    (15) Go back into the folder with the name of the XP user account in which Safari isn't displaying correctly.
    (16) Open the Local Settings folder.
    (17) Open the Application Data folder.
    (18) Rename the Safari folder "Safari2" and drag it out onto the desktop.
    Now launch Safari again. (That will rebuild all the items we dragged out onto the Desktop.) After the Welcome to Safari thing has finished, head to thestar again. Does it display properly this time?

  • Why is it that text in Mavericks and Safari renders as medium gray and not black, anymore?

    Why is it that text in Mavericks and Safari renders as medium gray and not black, anymore? In Mountain Lion and Safari 6.x this was not a problem.

    Have registered the following to the feedback link above by macjack:
    Mavericks renders most text as a gray (65 +/- in all three RGB using Digital Color Meter) and not black.
    This is a big change from pre-Mavericks and is especially difficult in Safari; worse still in Safari "Reader" where sub-heads in Reader-ized text are still paler.
    Especially for older eyes this does not fly. This user is close to downgrading to Mountain Lion and Safari 6, where this was not a problem.
    Stout rap on the nose: Jony Ive should be shorn of his glasses/contacts and forced to read only on these displays and OS versions until he cries out for the opthomalogist. One can only conclude this problem exists because those who came up with it were never in need of actually using it.
    Make the text BLACK.
    It's the same story on our MacBook Airs and MacBook Pro.
