Safari won't connect - redirects to 404 Not Found

Good morning! I have a new MacBook Pro, and am a long-time Mac user. Yesterday I spent 4 hours on the phone with an Apple tech, and we were not able to resolve this issue so I hope somebody out there is smarter than a Genius.
When I open Safari, it instantly redirects to a 404 Not Found page, specifically "http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/services/default.mspx". If I type in "http://www.google.com", it redirects to the same 404 Not Found page. If I click on any bookmark, I'm redirected the same. Oddly, the only site I am able to open by typing or using bookmark is Wells Fargo Bank. But I cannot navigate anywhere from there.
The tech had me do everything - reset Safari, empty all caches, delete and reinstall Safari from original disks, repair using disk utility, even reinstalled OSX from original install disks.
Firefox works just fine, and Safari on my husband's Mac connects with our Airport as well, so it's not an Internet connection problem. Please help if you can! Thank you.

Thank you both for your kind suggestions. I read everything regarding DNS, and that does not seem to be the source of the problem. I'm able to get online -- I can get anywhere through Firefox, and Safari will take me to wellsfargo.com but nowhere else. All other web addresses are redirected to the 404 Not Found (Microsoft) page. Think the bankers have taken over my MacBook Pro? Or Microsoft ....
Still hoping for a solution, because it's good to have a backup browser to Firefox.

    Any suggestions on what I can ask my IT department to change on the server so I can connect would be greatly appreciated.

    From the error and other description it seems that there is some misconfiguration with setup. You need to provide the FQDN name of the server as might server name is not resolving its name properly and so facing issue. As seems from below details:

    Configuration used and full address name both appears different so please verify configuration accordingly.
    Please check the DNS record, check certificate whether it match FQDN name of the server with certificate name, also try to check to connect with IP address and see what result you can find.

    Safari won't connect to the internet. My Itunes store works fine, and i can update my software without any problems.
    Anyone have a sollution?

    I open Safari => Top sites open ==> i click on a site ==> Safari says " Safari can't open the page "http://www.youtube.com/" because Safari can't connect to the server "www.youtube.com".
    This message is not a popup, its a text in the Safari page like "no internet" or something.

  • Safari won't connect without signing on to AOL

    I’m having a problem with Safari not working. I have had my imac G5 for a couple of weeks now and It’s been working great until yesterday. I use safari and AOL with a router. Safari is my default browser. Everything was working fine except now Safari won’t connect unless I’m logged into AOL. If I’m in AOL Safari works fine only slower than normal. If I log out of AOL, Safari quits working. Anyone have any suggestions?
    Not sure what happened. Everything else seems to be working fine.

    Just as suddenly as Safari stopped working, it started again. The only thing I did differently was sign in to the main administrator and started Safari from there. Maybe I needed to do that after I repaired permissions and reset the modem. anyhow, it's working ... for now.

    Safari won't connect to internet; Firefox will???
    Wierdest thing. For some reason Safari won't browse or connect to the internet anymore. When I open Safari the default address is in URL bar, but with highlighted (words only) in blue and it just sits there all day. I can't connect to any web site on the net.
    However, if I open Firefox all is fine and my Mail is all fine also.
    I've repaired permissions a few times and even trashed the preferences for Safari, restarted computer etc, but it still refuses to actually display anything. I get a blank white page, then after about 2 minutes it simply says "Safari can't open the page. Because the server stopped responding".
    As I said, no problem with Firefox.
    Any ideas.

    I have a web page that contains a ReportViewer control.  I am trying to display a report, which is an .rdl file located on the SSRS server, in this ReportViewer control.  I have set the ReportPath and ReportServerUrl correctly.  I am

    The error "The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found." means the ReportServerURL configured in the ReportViewer control is invalid.
    Please follow these steps to solve the issue:
    Logon the Report Server machine.
    Open the Reporting Services Configuration Manager.
    Copy the Report Server URL from 'Web Services URL'.
    Logon the application server(in this case, it is the server that host the web page), check if we can use the URL we got from step 3 to access the Report Server. If so, please replace the ReportServerURL in the ReportViewer control with this URL. If it is
    not available, could you please post the error message.
    Additionaly, we don't need to provide the extension for a server report. The ReportPath should be like: /<reports folder>/<report name>

    I can connect to Bank of America's site just fine. Can you connect to the site or is it that you can't perform certain functions on the website? Do you know that there is a Bank of America App available?

  • Safari won't connect to certain webpages

    Welp,
    on my G5, in the past few weeks, Safari won't connect with only certain internet pages, like ebay, qvc, and my school webpage. Called Apple help and the man said there was a third party thingie in the way. Dumped preferences, then re-installed the harddrive (with archives) and still the same problem. Type the address, wait more than a minute, then the Safari cannot connect page comes up. I've sent about nine of these to report bugs but have heard nothing back. I'm computer illiterate and will appreciate any suggestions.

    First off, this is the eMac group. Your system info says "G5". So are you in the correct group (all eMacs are G4 machines).
    Have you tried those same pages with other browsers? FireFox and Camino are two that are popular and free downloads. So first thing to do is try those out as well and see how the pages come up. If they come up in Firefox or Camino, then I would agree that your problem is with Safari.
    If, however, they don't come up there, then your problem is elsewhere. Likely places to check are Firewall setting in software or in any router you might be using. I have found certain "secure" or other log in type sites sometimes have troubles with certain Firewall settings on my DSL router. You may have the same issue and are looking in the wrong place for your solution.

  • HTTP Connection to R/3 System error- HTTP/1.0 404 Not found

    Hi,
    I am using a HTTP connection to XI to extract data from R3 to XI. The HTTP connection I have created in R3 are getting an error - "HTTP/1.0 404 Not found" while testing the connection.
    Porperty maintained in the connection:
    Terget host = <XI server address>
    Service No = 8000
    Path Prefix = /sap/xi/engine/adapter_plain?
    The exchange profile in XI (PI 7.0) system is as follows:
    com.sap.aii.connect.integrationserver.r3.httpport = 8000
    HTTP port is set as 8000 in SMICM services.
    The same type of connection is working fine in the lower PI and R3 environment but failing on productive  system.

    Well... you are trying to configure a HTTP RFC destination in SM59, aren't you?
    Dont worry about that. It is just a warning. Click on return or space bar after typing path prefix.
    Then save and test the connection.

    I currently have B1 8.8 PL14 installed and in the process of installing B1i when  I get to Step 3/5: Configure B1i Parameters and select Test Connection I get the error message 'Connect to B1i server failed - HTTP/1.1 404 not found'. I have followed. I have undertaken the installation as per the recorded session by Benno Eberte and regrettably I cannot set a successful connection.
    Can anyone assist?

    personally I think that in step 3/5 the connection via JCO is tested. Please, check the following
    Can you connect to your B1i System and have a look for the SLD, there should be a system that points to your company database. If there is a system definition that points to B1if then go further. Check the B1if connection, please take the B1DI connection test, is there a message like
    com.sap.b1i.adapter.dia.exception.ConnectionFailedException: Connect to Business One failed.
    (-8012) Company version mismatch
    {b1Server=..., company=B1if, licenseServer=..., dbType=..., dbUser=..., userName=...}
    In case this message comes up and you see B1if then the JCO configuration went wrong and that part is defined in the beginning of the installation.

    I use a macbook pro which I bought end of April so I tried calling the 90 day apple support for help. They say this is a third party software issue and cant help and I should contact adobe since the issue is with the flash player.
    Please help me as I am unable to watch any videos online as it keeps crashing to that 404 error page. The crashing varies sometimes it doesn't happen but most of time times today I am experiencing this annoying crashi to 404 page. I would really appreciate help in getting rid of this error permanently. Should I uninstall all adobe programmes on my mac and reinstall them again? and how do I do that? I dont want to lose my adobe programmes (photoshop etc) its a real problem I am having this error
    I am completely relying on you guys to help sort this problem asap....
