Safe to buy AC adaptors from Ebay for Satellite M105-s3041?

Hi,
I have just lost my ac-power adaptor for my Satellite M105-s3041 computer.
I want to get a replacement but I bought my computer in the US and am not sure a replacement would have a UK 3-pin plug.
Also similarly to another guy on here I wonder if it is safe to byuy adaptors from e-bay as I don't want to shell out so much money for a replacement adaptor.
Do any of you have experience with 2-bay replacements?
I also don't know which adaptor would be correct for my model,
Hope you can help,
Chris

For me it looks like the Satellite M105-s3041 is a US notebook series.
I checked the Toshiba US page and found this page:
[Satellite M105-S3041 Detailed Product Specification|http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_outFrm.jsp?moid=1364114&rpn=PSMA0U&ct=DS&soi d=1420312]
You need a 15V - 5A AC Adapter with 50-60Hz frequency (Universal) input.
The PA2521U-2ACA Toshiba 90W Global AC Adapter would be compatible also...
You are asking if its safe to use an AC adaptor from Ebay;
Well, usually you should use the compatible and supported parts.
But I think you could also use another part but its important that an 3rd party AC adaptor would support the same specification like the Toshiba AC adaptor.
Then everything should work ok

No. If you want Apple to do the work, then you must also get parts from them. You can do the work yourself; you can look for certified Apple tech to do the work for you; you can take it to a non-Apple affiliated shop. Note that doing it yourself or taking it to a non-Apple shop will void your warranty and prevent Apple from performing any future service on the computer.

  • Do we need to buy the license from SAP for EACH 'Z'form

    Hello
I heard that, we (company) have to take license for the development of EACH adobe interactive form (even though its totally custom brand-new interactive form created from scratch), on individual form basis, is it true? (i know, its free of cost to play around with interactive forms in DEV and QA, but, if we want to move them to PROD, in that case do we need to buy the license from SAP for EACH form individually?)
    Thank you

Thats true...license based on end user usage is required for SAP interactive forms. For more information read SAP note number 750784. The license comes in package like per 1000 users one time payment.

  • I want to buy AppleCare Protection from Ebay, model #?

I want to save money and buy my protection plan through Ebay, but I see where they have model numbers for the protection plan, I have a brand new Imac so does it matter what AppleCare Protection Plan I buy from Ebay...............  Do certain model number protection plans only give you the extended warranty on certain Imacs?  Thanks for any help!
    David

I wouldn't fool around with Applecare from eBay. (I saved a lot of money buying it from eBay, and it worked out. But it isn't worth the anxiety.) Doesn't look like much of a saving from the list price right now and it might be risky. AFAIK, iMac Applecare is all the same. Apple may be tightening up on eBay Applecare.
Check these out. They may be beating any of the top rated sellers' prices on eBay.

  • Recently I bought a mini DVI to HDMI converter  from eBay for my iMac 21.5 Mid 2011, but only later I realised that it does not have the mini DVI port in that. How can I connect my iMac to a LG smart TV through a HDMI cable?

This is the picture of all the ports from my iMac
This is the mini DVI to HDMI converter which I bought from ebay. And I have the HDMI cable to connect it to my TV
Could anyone please suggest me a solution how I could connect my iMac to the LG smart TV? Also I need to know if this transmits the audio as well to the smart TV?
Suggestions are welcomed. I really appreciate and thank you for your time

I would suggest looking into a Thunderbolt to HDMI connector. In this case, you may be able to use the TV as an external monitor. For this option, please confirm through additional research. I have not tested it personally.
You can also use an Apple TV, which connects with HDMI. In this case, you can use Airplay Mirroring. Not all Macs support Airplay Mirroring, so you need to check first. I have a Mid-2011 27" iMac, and it supports Airplay Mirroring. I don't use it often because my TV is in another room, but I just tried it and it worked. It had to change the screen resolution to work well, so I don't know if I would want to use it as my day to day monitor. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5404

  • Buying An ipod From Ebay

I am considering buying a "Brand New, Still Sealed 60GB Video ipod in Black" from ebay.co.uk. In the item desciption it states that this ipod has been imported from France.
    2 questions:
    1. Are all ipod's universal? i.e. would this ipod function correctly in the UK with UK ipod accessories such as the AV Cable and Universal Dock even though I would have bought it from France?
    2. Would this ipod still be covered by Apple's 1 year warranty even though I had bought it from ebay?
Hope someone can help me as it would be much appreciated.
    Happy Christmas to you all!!!!!!!!

    1. Yes, all iPods and accessories are "universal" and will work on any computer anywhere provided that computer meets the specified requirements.
    2. Yes. Even if another person had previously registered the iPod themselves, the iPod warranty is transferred to the person buying it. If it's still sealed in the box, chances are it's never been registered and you would be able to do that on the initial set up procedure.

  • Buying Macbook components from Apple for self repair

Has anyone here had any experience with buying components from Apple?
The fan in my Macbook is on its way out. Some times it spins right up and works ok. Sometimes it struggles, spins slowly then stops. Its been making a noise for a couple weeks now but its only the last couple days that its stopped altogether. When it does this i can hear it is trying to fire up but cant. A reboot normally sorts it out.
My warranty has expired and my local Apple dealer tell me its going to be a standard £75 charge for labour plus the cost of the parts. Now call me stingy but £100 sounds pretty steep for a new fan / heatsink and fan combo!
Ive built, fixed and upgraded many a PC and had most Mac models in bits at some point so im more than happy to replace the parts myself. However my local Apple store tell me that a part of their license with Apple states that they will not sell parts on, they are only allowed to repair them on site.
Has anyone here ever managed to get Apple to send out components such as these for a DIY repair?

This site will give you parts and an online take apart manual as well..

  • Which MacBook Pros are safe to buy used and not recalled for video graphics/display failure (due to overheating)?

I've had some bad luck with MacBook Pros lately. I bought a 2010 model but it was effectively a Total Loss because of a vehicle accident. From searching with Google, people have reported logic board failures. Who knows if mine would've failed, too.
Then I bought an older 2009 MacBook Pro and that eventually failed due to the graphics chip failure. There was a recall on it but the problem occured JUST after the recall period expired. I don't have a microwave solder lying around or a proper setup to fix the problem myself.
Now, I im in the market for a used MacBook Pro, as a gift (I can't afford a new one right now) (with the luck I have, I'm basically done with them but the person wants one).
I've seen some 2011 models priced quite attractively, which caused me to do a quick check and find that the (early) 2011 models also have video graphic failures. I don't get it. I understand paying for the name, but the name also has to have reliability and you don't hear about video graphics failures from some of the more well known PC manufacturers..just saying.
I'd strongly prefer to not purchase any retina models, if at all possible. I want a mechanical SATA HDD and an optical drive. I oppose proprietary components -- as I understand it, the retina models make it nearly impossible to upgrade.
Which used MacBook Pros are safe for purchase? In other words, which ones do not have recalls or are susceptible to video graphics/display failures? I don't want to put the money down for one, only to hear it kicked the bucket and it needs service and is out of warranty.
    Thank you for your time.

Not to sound unhelpful, but you are asking people who can only guess.

  • Buying an iPad from America for use in UK

    Morning Forum;
    if buying a 3G iPad in the states;
    a. does it have to be bought with a data plan or can i buy a 3G one with no data plan?
    b. If i buy the AT&T version, will it work ok on networks in the UK?
    Thanks
    Andi

3G iPads bought in the US are not locked to a carrier (though the Verizon iPads are effectively locked as they are CDMA based), so if you buy the AT&T version it's not locked and you don't have to sign up or activate a 3G service with them. I think that their micro-sim is already installed in the iPad when you buy it but you don't have to use it and you can just remove and replace it with a UK micro-sim when you get back - so yes it will work with UK operators when you install your micro-sim and activate it.

  • Need to buy 19V 4.7A charger for Satellite L300D

I would love if someone could help me.
My charger for my toshiba satellite L300D broke recently I bought a 19V 4.74A charger and it blow my battery even though I was told it was only slightly more powerful and wouldn't effect the laptop!
I have looked everywhere for a 19v 4.7A charger but cant find any on the internet or anything!
Can someone please help me if I cant find one I will have to buy a new laptop.

    Hi
I guess you could find a part number at the bottom of the old AC adaptor.
The simplest procedure would be searching for this partnumber in the internet to find an online dealer.
As the last option you could order the part from Toshiba ASP in your country.
The guys can provide always the compatible notebook parts.
    Good luck

  • Impossible to Boot from CD for satellite 220CS

    Hello,
    I have a toshiba satellite 220CS/1.4GB model no. PA1240EYV-NLDI
It has a removable diskette station.
Later I get a separate 6x cd drive model no. XM-1402B, Ver. No. 002, ROM Ver. KF60118.
This drive has is own case and I can connect it aside to the laptop
I can remove the drive out his case, but it is not possible to change the cd drive with the diskette station.
This cd drive dont fits into the space of the diskette station.
When I connect the drive with his little cable to the laptop, and I tell the BIOS to boot from CD then I hear the cd spinning an I see the LED burn for a short while.
    But he doesnt boot.
I tried to use the thing as a non boot device.
The OS on the laptop is Win95 (I want to change that)
    I modified config.sys and also autoexec.bat.
I used for this the original drivers for the cd drive (downloaded from the internet).
But the system dont sees the cd drive.
The BIOS said that it is possible to boot from CD, but why not my system?
Who can help me with this problem

    Hi all
checking my memory, which can be wrong here, it should be possible to take out the FDD from the 220CS and put a CD there instead.
The CD works fine INSIDE the computer but will not work in the case. The case is intended only for a FDD. The case can also be used as a 'parking space' for the CD when not in use.
    You can remove the FDD/CD from the 220 by;
    - turning the machine upside down
    - unlocking the bay-lock with the small switch.
    - ejecting the device by gently pulling/lifting the eject-lever.
When installing another device don't forget to lock the bay-lock again.
    Good luck.
    Tom
