Sales Analysis - Gross Profit Percentage

Hello,
This is a very basic question that hopefully somebody can help me with.
I ran the Sales Analysis by Customers --> Orders --> for a specific customer.  When I look at the detailed report of the Sales Analysis for this particular customer there are two orders.  I'm confused by how SAP is calculating the gross profit percentage.
For example, one of the invoices has a sales amount of $76,160.00 and a gross profit of $22,580.00.  The gross profit percentage on the analysis is 42.143.
Shouldn't the GP % really be 29.648%?  I used the following formula to calculate this:  (Gross Profit/Sales Amount)*100.
What formula is SAP using?
Thank you,
Amanda

I get it.  It's calculating, however, it's setup on that tab.
I've been able to calculate both percentages now.
Thank you so much for your help.  I knew it had to be basic!
Thanks!
Amanda

  • Approval Template by Gross profit Percentage for entire Document

I'm trying to figure out how to create an approval template that would require an approval if the entire Sales order falls below a minimum gross profit percentage. I did find a built in function that I can require approval if any single line items drop below minimum, but I haven't been able to find a way to either select the gross profit percentage or access the needed fields to calculate the GPP.
    Thanks in advanced

    Hi Nick
You can give an approval template of the gross profit percentage at the document level in the sales order but not at the row level, it will suit if the condition one to one relationship exists. Thought on the queries and formatted searches might help.

  • SALES Analysis  and profit loss statment

    Hi All ,
    Dear Experts,
My Sales Analysis and profit loss statement Value is deferent .  i want to know that which entry show in sales analysis and which entry show in profit loss statment .
    Thanks & Regard
    AREEBA ALI

    Aree,
Both report are different. The sales analysis will use document of sales orders, delivery order, invoice and credit memo.
The P&L use journal entry of invoice and credit memo. Can you be more specific about the different ?

  • Sales Analysis

    Hi Experts,
We are implementing the SAP B1 in one of the manufacturing industry in which return of the material(quality, color Defect) from the customer is normal process.
    Scenario:
There is an A/R Invoice raised in the month of August, later customer(XYZ) found some defect in quality of Item and he return the material. To concil A/R Invoice we have to raised A/R Credit memo.
But after raising A/R credit memo in the month of august A/R Invoice got closed and gross profit is zero against this particular customer(XYZ) in month of August.
But in Sales Analysis report it is showing that there is sales against XYZ in month of August. And this sales is not having any profit
Please put some light on this scenario and clarify the point because it would not come in sales analysis because sale is already cancel due to debit note from customer and we have to raise new invoice against that particular customer.
    Regards,
    Amit

    Hi
How is your gross profit is set up .I tried to reproduce your issue and I come with this result .
If i donot have set up grossprofit --by means you set it by price list1 abut you donot have price list1
You will see that on sales analysis -- gross profit is zero
After I set gross profit based on price list --(You have multiple choice )
Your sales Analysis --- show the gross profit zero only on A/R credit memo
When you run your sales analysis-- click double click on the row and you can see the details .
    (I test this issue in 2007 A patch 35 )
    Hope this answers .

  • Manually closed DN appear with value 0 on sales analysis - items

    Hello everyone,
When i manually close a Delivery Note (DN) using Data->Close that DN still appears on my sales analysis -> customer. (using the filter -> Delivery Notes)
However when i use sales analysis -> items i only get the list of items contained on that DN. All the columns (quantity, sales amount, gross profit, etc) are with zero values.
Is there any way of showing those values on the sales report? Or any other report? Is this standard system behavior? Shouldn't the items disappear completely then? What is the purpose of showing them without any further information?
Looking forward to be hearing from you.
    Regards,
    Sérgio Romã

    Hello Gordon,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
The business process requires me to close the DN manually:
The customer has something like 4000 employees that are created as customers. Each of those employees has a pre-defined creditline amount. DNotes can be created for each employee until that amount. On the second week of every month i need to close all these DNotes (i am doing this using an addon that runs based on schedule defined in a user table and that closes all DN that meet certain conditions) so that i can add more DNotes to each employee. At the end of every month i have another addon that totals all DN added that month (closed and open) and creates a single service invoice for a customer (defined in each employee).
So i need to close them manually because i cannot copy them to a consolidation partner (release of employee creditline and invoicing occur at the different moments during the month).
My disagreament with the system behavior is the following:
    - I get the correct the results if i create a sales analysis -> customer. If they don't result in a sales transaction they shoudn't appear on this report either. (according to the logic you presented)
    - Sales analysis -> Item. The item lines appear with zero. Once again, if it is not a sales transaction they shoudn't appear at all (according to the same logic). The system is doing the same thing as if the DN has been copied to an invoice which is a wrong behavior. This is a different situation and the item detail should be visible on the sales analysis report.
    What do you think?

    Hi,
Due to pivot limitation, not possible to get above data in pivot table.
Try this simple query which matches system sales analysis by item.
SELECT t1.itemcode as Itemcode, T1.[Dscription] as 'Item description',  sum(T1.[Quantity]) as Qty, sum(T1.[LineTotal]) as 'sales amount', sum(T1.[GrssProfit]) as 'Gross Profit'
    FROM OINV T0  INNER JOIN INV1 T1 ON T0.DocEntry = T1.DocEntry WHERE month( T0.[DocDate]) = '1' and year( T0.[DocDate]) =2014 GROUP BY T1.[ItemCode], T1.[Dscription]

  • Sales Analysis report does not match Cost of Sales Account

My client is running SAP B1 8.81 PL 6.  He has set all items to standard costing method.  He has discovered that the difference between the Sales Amount and the Gross Profit amount on the Sales Analysis report, which should equal the Cost of Sales for the Items, does not match the Cost of Sales G/L account on the P&L report.  If you look at a sample of rows, the above difference divided by the quantity equals the standard cost of the item.  There are no manual journal entries that affect the COS account for the posting period that is being analyzed.  I cannot see any mathmatical difference or problem with the above analysis, nor can I find the problem.  There is about an $85K difference between the reports.  The Sales Amount on the Sales Analysis report matches the revenue account on the P&L to the penny.  Has anyone ever compared these 2 reports?  Thank you for your help.

If you right click on an Invoice and choose "Gross Profit" it will give you a setting on how you want to calculate the Gross Profit for that invoice.
In the accounting point of view the "Base Price" should be "Item Cost" so that the Gross Profit will be (Net Selling Price - Item Cost = Gross Profit). This will give you the same Gross Profit amount between P and L and Sales Analysis Report.
However, SAP B1 gives the user the ability to select a different base price other than the Item Cost.
This gives the user the flexibility for the Sales Report. Example (Net Sales Price - Vendor Sales Price = Gross Profit). People do this sometimes because  the item's cost fluctuates if you use FIFO or average cost and they want a uniform cost to calculate their Gross Profit.
In summary if the Base Price is not set to "Item Cost" then there will be difference in the Gross Profit between the P and L and Sales Analysis Report.

  • How to Calculate Sales Analysis based on Item

    Hi All,
I have a problem in calculating the Total Sales,GrosProfit%, TotalOpen,Paid for generating the SalesAnalysisReport based on Items.
Please tell me how the above fields are calculated(Please post the formulae if u can).
    Thanks & Regards
    Guru.

    Hi.
From what I know, the Total Sales and Gross Profit are taken from the Marketing Document. You can click the Gross Profit button to check and confirm.
It will take the Base Price Origin as specified in the Document Setting as the default Cost to calculate Gross Profit. But you can always overwrite it in the Marketing Document.
In SBO 2004, you need to run the Item Revaluation to ensure correct Last Evaluation Price for Items with Moving Average costing method. In SBO 2005, you have the option of using the Item Cost. There is no need to run Item Revaluation.
Total Open should be the outstanding while the Total Paid is the amount paid and reconciled.

  • Negative Gross Profit figure - Sales Analysis by Employee

    Forum,
I have a system on 8.81 PL08. When running the sales analysis by sales employee and select one employee in particular the gross profit figure is showing a negative value.
    Why would this be negative?
The system is currently configured as follows:
    GP calculated - Profit/Base Price
The block negative stock option is also selected.
    Regards,
    Juan

    Hi Juan,
Negative value in the gross profit is due to wrong gross profit calculation in the document. If you get detail of the transaction, you will know why.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • Sale Analysis Profit Calculation problem

    Hello
I create sale Invoice having Qty 2 unit price 150 & tax code is VAT@4% then Base amount is 300 & Total Bill
    amt is 312.
My purchase price for the same item is INR 100 so my Gross profit show on Bill is INR 100 & profit percent
    is 33.33%
Customer will debit with INR 312
But when Create Rate difference bill ie credit memo of INR 20 per uint ie Qty 2 Tax VAT@4%  (maintain
drop ship warehouse in row level to can't reduce the qty)
    Customer will debit -41.60
So Customer Debit balance is 270.40
But when I run Sale analysis report the result shows that Gross profit INR 260 & Gross Profit % is 100%
But actually i calculated manually the real Profit is INR 60 & Profit % should be 23.08 should be show in sale

So what i do to see the same result

  • Gross profit on sales credit memo of service type

Gross profit on sales credit memo of service type
When AR Credit memo of service type is created, should Gross Profit be calculated?
My client has recently upgraded from 2007 to 8.8 and says that in 2007 GP did calculate and shown on sales analysis for service type credit memos, on 8.8 it does not.
Please advise if there is a setting (apart from document settings > default GP % for service docs) to make GP calculate on a service type credit memo?

    Hi,
Have you tried in the demo system? If you can not get gross profit on sales credit memo of service type from there, it would mean not supported.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • How to get the Sales A/R Gross Profit to equal the G/L Gross Profit

Should the sales ledger (S/L) GP base price be set to 'Std Cost List' (SCL) or 'Item cost'?
If so, the General Ledger (G/L) uses the 'item cost' and the S/L uses the SCL - two different costs.
If the SCL and item cost are different (for the same item) how do I balance the S/L GP with the G/L GP when producing financial (G/L accounts)?
Any help or pointing towards help documents would be gratefully appretiated

Thank you Shwu very much for taking an interest in my problem.
We are indeed using Standard costing as our preferred stock costing system (not LIFO or MA) and the 'Standard Cost List' (SCL) is a price list that we are using as a list of all the std costs of our items.  Therefore in each item master we set a SCL for an item and then an Item Cost as well (stockdata tab/item cost).
We were told to do this , as in 2006 when we installed 'SAP V2005', the gross profit base price (S/L base price) could not select the item cost by default. You could also not change an items 'item cost' either. I believe this is not now the case as in document settings the 'base price origin' can now be set as item cost and you can alter the item cost by a stock revaluation p.s. we are now using V2007.
So indeed as you say, because at the moment the S/L and G/L look at two different figures and if those figures are not the same the S/L GP will never = the G/L GP.
Scenario 1 - There are a number of reasons why the SCL does not = the Item cost
    1. Price rises - where we altered the SCL but didn't know we could alter the item cost
    2. Incorrect selection of 'item properties' i.e. not ticking an item as stock which means the G/L does not debit the cost at all.
    3. All our manufactured items have an estimated SCL and item cost, but as we dont use BOMs yet, the std cost may not be accurate. (we need to wait till we do a physical stock check)
    4. We use item masters for each of our direct labour sales so the cost is an estimate of their hourly rate + NIC + down time etc. So this is similar to (3) above.
    5. Supplier carriage on 'goods in' cannot be reflected in the item cost as you never know how much the carriage cost is until you recieve the goods. We therefore set supplier carriage as an 'expense' G/L (purchased not stocked item property)
    6. An advantage of using SCL is that you can allow say 10% for wastage or say 5% for carriage cost, whereas you would want the item cost to be the actual purchased cost of the item
Scenario 2 - Use only the item cost for S/L and G/L
    1. bar for (6) above it now seems to make sense to select only the item cost for S/L & G/L if we want to close the difference between S/L & G/L GP reports.
    2. But I've just been told that a purchase order stamps the SCL cost down not the item cost. very strange, I'll have to look into this.
I do hope my answers make some sense and once again thanks for helping me

  • Result Analysis - Profit Percentage based on Revenue

    Deare Gurus,
While executing Result Analysis, we see profit percentage on the right side as percentage onthe basis of costs. We would like to view such detail as a percentage of revenue
    eg: standard
    Revenue - 100
    Costs - 80
    Profit - 20
    Profit percentage = 20/80 = 25%
We want it to be 20/100 = 20%.
    Please help!!!!

    Hi Babu,
I think your example is not totally clear. From what I understand, you need to calculate a result in percentage based on the result of two other columns. What you can do is to use the first result (from the two columns) as a CKF. And then, to this CKF, use the result calcultation options of the query desinger for percentage.
    Hope this helps.
