Sales and marketing

hello experts,
Could you please advise what is the difference between marketing and sales forecasting?
regards
PRex

Marketing is a societal process which discerns consumers' wants, focusing on a product or service to fulfil those wants, attempting to move the consumers toward the products or services offered. Marketing is fundamental to any businesses growth. The marketing teams (marketers) are tasked to create consumer awareness of the products or services through marketing techniques. Unless it pays due attention to its products and services and consumers' demographics and desires, a business will not usually prosper over time.
Marketing tends to be seen as a creative industry, which includes advertising, distribution and selling. It is also concerned with anticipating the customers' future needs and wants, which are often discovered through market research.
Essentially, marketing is the process of creating or directing an organization to be successful in selling a product or service that people not only desire, but are willing to buy.
Therefore good marketing must be able to create a "proposition" or set of benefits for the end customer that delivers value through products or services.
Sales forecasting is the process of organizing and analyzing information in a way that makes it possible to estimate what your sales will be. This document outlines some simple methods of forecasting sales using easy to find data. Books containing simple and sophisticated techniques of forecasting sales can be found in libraries and business oriented book stores.
If you sell more than one type of product or service, prepare a separate sales forecast for each service or product group.
There are many sources of information to assist with your sales forecast. Some key sources are:
Competitors
Neighbouring Businesses
Trade suppliers
Downtown business associations
Trade associations
Trade publications
Trade directories

  • SAP SD Career for Sales and Marketing Professional in Banking & Insurance Industry

    Dear Experts,
I have 8+ years experience in Marketing,Sales and Customer Services in banking and financial service industry. I enquired about SAP courses in authorised SAP centres and they suggested me to go with SAP SD module. I am not sure whether SAP SD will suits to me as it deals with hard core products, but my sales and marketing experience in based on Concept selling. As a marketing guy i have good understanding and knowledge of sales and product life cycle. I have done MCA in 2004, but all experience is into BFSI domain. Now i want to shift into IT. Whether i can take up SAP SD and make a career in it.?.Seeking proper guidance from experts.
    Cheers
    Ramesh

    Hi Ramesh,
You can try to IS-Insurance to suit your domain experience.  However, if you look at major SAP Implemented insurance companies adopted SAP ERP and custom according to their need.  So, getting a breakthrough in this IS solution would be very hard.
Again, if I come back to your question on BFSI point domain experience.  I have my friend who worked in Top 5 BFSI company in India who transitioned his career in SAP SD (studied in SAP Authorized institute and got a job through campus in CMM Level 5 company) because he has BE + MBA.  This story was happened 8 years back.  But I don't know the current trend in India.
SAP SD is best and it will suit as I saw already a guy went through the same path.  Also, check SAP CRM Sales or Service.
You can wait for other members comments who may be transitioned from BFSI sector to SAP to give  some ideas.
    Best of luck.

  • Inactivating Countries from being selected in Sales and Marketing Online

When our users are adding new addresses to Organisations in Sales Online and Marketing Online (and Receivables); they get presented with a 'massive' list of countries to select from in the Country Dropdown including places like 'Aland Islands' and 'Obsolete see CS Territory' ..a whole bunch of places we will never use.
Can you tell me how to inactivate/end date these countries so they will no longer appear.
Also, is there any way to put certain countries at the top of the list? Of course we have our default country but would also like to 'order' some countries to the top.

What about this - a colleague of mine pointed me here:
System Administrator Responsibility -> Install -> Territories.
I have managed to update the name of some countries and Obsolete them. But Obsoleting keeps the country in the list -- are there any other options?

  • Oracle Trading Community Architecture (TCA) licensing and Marketing?

Our organisation owns fully Oracle Finance (Receivables, payables, gl and cash management, HR and Payroll and Oracle Sales and Oracle Marketing. We rely heavily on the Trading Community Architecture (Oracle TCA) and store all customer data there (party names, phone/fax/email, addresses etc.).
However, we do not use any Oracle Sales or Oracle Marketing functionality - we simply create 'Customer' records using the Oracle Sales and Marketing WEB JSP front ends.
We would like to stop using Oracle Sales and Marketing an stop buying the licenses and maintencance for this and reinvest in other Oracle products.
Can you tell us - if we 'get rid of' Oracle Sales and Marketing can we still 'write' to the Oracle TCA using the API's that Oracle provides (something we already do today) or will we lose the right to create records to be stored in the TCA (like apps_fnd.hz_parties , contact_points, hz_locations etc.).

You would think that would be the case -- however they are quite incompetent.
Any one else have a suggestion?

  • What are all Modules come under sales, service and marketing in Oracle CRM?

    Hi All,
This is Hemanth writing in. I'm new to oracle CRM implementation in client side through Oracle Business Accelerator Methodology . I want to map sales ,service, marketing Modules.
Our client Company is manufacturing crane, tower crane, cutting bending machine.
what are all Modules come under sales, service and marketing ?
In Which module we can map the Trade management and logistics ?
    Thanks in Advance
    Hemanth.C

    hi prakesh,
firstly, cic winclient is an older version and obsolete so its better to implement the new crm version.
secondly, in any case if you want to implement, then your 3rd party raw data has to be mapped with the SAP system which could be a problem. Middleware could be a lot of effort. Rest all depends on how much customization you need for your business requirement in cic and sales. In case you are implementing standard functionality mostly then no major complications are expected otherwise lot of development effort may be required.

  • SAP-SD Module Certification for 1 yr exp in Sales - MBA(Marketing)

Hi! I'm an MBA(Marketing) with 1 yr exp in corporate sales and at present i'm working  as a Sr. Mrkt Exe in Electronic Surveillance System - Channel Sales (just 2 months back). I heard about this SAP-SD Module Certification from Siemens, and I want to know 1)whether that module + certification would help me in getting a job in SAP???
I'm planning to join this module once i complete 1 yr in this company with 1 yr Channel sales experience...and many forums and discussions have had this never ending debate on "SAP Certification Vs Implementation Experience on SAP"....so being new to this field, I have to start somewhere so :
2)Is this the rt platform for starting a career in SAP??? and
3)1 yr exp in Corporate Sales and  1 yr exp in Channel Sales, does that matter in case they are looking for 2 yr domain experience for pursuing the SAP-SD module???
    valuable suggestions highly appreciated!!
    thx
    Nelson

    Hi Nelson,
1)Whether that module + certification would help me in getting a job in SAP???
Yes, if you get certification it will help you but you need to be sound in knowledge on SAP SD. Siemens will only provide you job assistance, to click the interview you need to be knowledgeable.
2)Is this the rt platform for starting a career in SAP??? and
Yes, Siemens is an education partner of SAP and they provide good training but once you enrolled for the course you need lots of hard work, because this training will complete in hardly 18-20 days and right after that you would be required to appear in the Certification Exam.
3)1 yr exp in Corporate Sales and 1 yr exp in Channel Sales, does that matter in case they are looking for 2 yr domain experience for pursuing the SAP-SD module???
Yes it will definitely matter because SAP training is given to those people who have domain experience because the businesses processes SAP follows are the actual ones used in any organization so it will be better if the person is experienced and knows the know how of his work area.

  • Difference between Olant sale and Depot sale

What is the basic difference between plant sale and depot sale? is there any difference with respect to their confighration part?

    Hi !
With regards to your query, as per the business requirements of a company a company can have depots and plants for retail sales , and sales directly to customers from manufacturing plants.
For this there can be different codes for depots locations and plants and different storage locations respectively.
Also pricing may vary both for raw materials and FG, since manufacturing might be carried out under a contract agreement, scheduling agreement etc and retail sales may be at standard market rates.
Thus the pricing procedures would vary.
The norms for customer account groups and credit exposure would also vary.
    Plz reward points if helpful.
    Rgds,
    Shamik.

  • Difference between the R/3 internet sales and CRM Internet sales

    Hello
I want to know the difference between the R/3 internet sales and CRM Internet sales
If there is any document send it to my email
    [email protected]
    Regards
    Jacopo francois

    Jacopo,
R/3 ISA and CRM ISA differ in terms of Backend and some of the functionalities.
    CRM ISA:
    - CRM system as backend.
    - Till 4.0, Marketing functionalities only available in CRM ISA
    - IPC, Trex mandatory
    - Items not in catalog can be ordered
    - Catalog views supported
    R/3 ISA:
    - R/3 system as backend. Suitable for organizations without CRM.
    - No MArketing till 4.0 (am not sure about 5.0 though!)
    - IPC, Trex not mandatory
    - Items not replicated through catalog cannot be ordered
    - No catalog views supported
From the code level, you have to use different java packages to make changes. XCM scenarios too are different for both.
Generally, if you have CRM, it makes sense to deploy CRM ISA. But, if there is no CRM, then you can go for R/3 edition of ISA.

  • Free Goods Regarding u0096 Sales and Distribution

    <b><u>Scenario</u> :</b>
    I. To represent free goods explicitly in Billing & Delivery & to represent the same in the Invoices & Transport & Shipping.
II. To make account for the free goods in the accounting and Material documents.
    a. Here the free goods may belong to free goods item category.
                 (or)
    b. The same material may be given as a extra free item for n Quantity Sale of a material.
                 (or)
    c. There may be any Free Goods for certain amount of Purchase.
How can we identify items as free goods or there are any compliments for a sale and how do we account for it?

    Hi Peterson
You can identify the free goods by the item category.
For Accounting purpose in Material documents, create a new schedule line category and a new Movement type.
Assign the G/L accounts to the new Movement type.
Assign the movement type to the Schdule line category and then assign the schedule line category to the item category.this will take care of accounting in Material documents.
If you want different G/L account postings at the time of invoice creation then perform the account determination using the item category.
Please award points if this helps
    Thanks
