Sales order costing- engineer to order production

hi
we have a scenario where the production is started based on the sales order. The product is not standard product, for every  sales order the product changes i.e. the material code should be created along with the sales order at the same point.
1. Bom is not available for all collective requiremnts at the time of sales order creation therefore the sales order costestimate calculated on the same day of sales order creation does not give the true picture
2. the chance is that the product that may be produced for the sales order may be after 6 months also, hence the production people are not ready to create bom for the sales order related product
my question is can we suggest sales order costing in this scenario.
krishna

Hello Krishna
In this case, I think you should suggest for sales order costing with variant configuration since the product is not standard and changes for every sales order. The sales order BOM needs to be created and a cost estimate should be taken. If the details are not available then the sales people should edit the sales order through VA02 later and rerun the cost estimate. After the BOM is finalised the production process may start.

  • Booking of rework order cost on original order

    Hi,
I want to know the complete process for booking the cost of rework order on the original order. It means how to do variance calculation & then settle order to original order.
It is urgent. I want step by step process.
    thanks

    Hi
Create a Reference operation set with a operation that needs to be reworked on and with the control key of a Rework type. Assign this to the trigger point in the parameters. Assign this Trigger point to the last operation in the standard routing you created for that product.
If you create the trigger point as to be triggered at the partial confirmation of the order, then at the confirmation of the order, enter the rework quantity in that field with partial confirmation selected and save the confirmation. while saving, this will create a rework order.
While assigning the parameters to the trigger point, make sure that the order type also is a rework order type.
you can do fcost for rework costing
do KKS2 after teco for the order
    use KGI2 for overhead caiculation.
    do KO88 for order settlements
    award points if useful.

  • Posting settled internal order costs to PM Order

    Hi,
Our client doesn't have PM module upto now. So they posted all the maintenance costs to internal orders. All the internal orders are settled properly. Now they want to implement PM module. They want the costs previously posted in internal order should be reflected in PM orders.
How it will possible?  Any inputs please.. is the historical PM order helps???
    Regards
    Radha

    Radha,
    Technically speaking, yes its possible.
But do you know which costs were booked against each equipment?
Even if you do, then you will need to write an ABAP program to create PM orders and then move the costs from the settlement orders to the PM orders in the period thatg they were accrued. This is a big job.
If you only need a record of the equipment costs (ie not move the actual costs) then the simpler approach would be to use Historical Orders.

  • Sale order costing during service order integration

    Hi,
When I am generating service order from sale order, and settling my service order back to the sale order item. Do I need to run DP90 to capture the service cost? If so please explain.
    Regards,
    N.Nagaraju

yes, you would need to run DP90 to generate a billing document for the customer based on the service order / sales order. Have a look at [SAP Help|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/en/4b/5cfc3743572b1ee10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm] for detailed help.
The actual cost of service is collected on the service order and could be different from the cost billed to the customer through the billing document generated through DP90.

  • Getting Total Order Cost for each order

I have a fact table, order lines.
There are two dimension tables, customer & Product.
For each order i want to display on a pivot table:
    - the cost of the line.
-the cost of the total order.
Is this possible? I have been playing with ALL & All except but have not found a solution yet. some metadata is below
    CustomerID CustomerName
    1 john
    2 mary
    3 jim
    4 kevin
    ProductID ProductName Price
    1 pen 5
    2 cup 4
    3 car 7
    4 phone 3
    OrderLineID CustomerID ProductID Quantity
    1 1 2 2
    1 1 3 2
    2 2 1 4
    3 1 2 5
    3 1 2 4
    3 4 4 6
    4 4 4 6

    Hi Winston,
Could you kindly provide an example of the output you'd expect based on the above data? Also, I've noticed that there is no OrderID column in the order line table. How would you determine which OrderLineIDs belong to a single order?

  • Routing data for configurable products (Sales order costing)

    Hi
I am runnign sales order cost estimate for configurable product. here I want to confirm the activity quantity with cost estimate.
Pls let me know where can I check the activity quantity information . Pls help
    Thanks
    Sneha

    Hi Sneha
I am bit confused with the terms you used..
you cannot confirm activity qty while doing cost estimate... Activity confirmation happens during Production Confirmation
Are you talking about missing activity qty/cost in sales order cost estimate?? Contact your PP consultant... You should have a routing attached while creating the sales order.. If that is there, then Activity cost would show up in the sales order cost estimate

  • Engineer to Order Scenario-Target Costs and Stock Valuation

I have got a query  pertaining to Engineer to  Order Scenario. A production order has been created with WBS element as the account assignment .Its a valuated project stock scenario, with configurable material. As per SAP standard behaviour  and my limited knowledge, the Goods Receipt for FERT/HALB happens according to either of the four strategies:
    •     Standard Price ( if there exists one)
    •     Customer Exit COPCP002
    •     Sales Order Cost Estimate
    •     Preliminary Order Cost Estimate for prod order
However ,I have come across a case where although a preliminary order cost estimate exists for the production order, the system is not able to determine target costs. As a result the entire variance is posted as remaining variance at the time doing a variance calculation on the production order. Moreover at the time of Goods Receipt for FERT material, the system passses an entry Price diff A/c -Debit to Cost of Production, instead of debiting Inventory  and crediting cost of production(Price Control is S, no standard price exists for the material)
    Thus my query is :
    1) In case of Engineer to Order Valuated Stock Scenario where prod order is created with reference to WBS element, how is the standard price (or target costs for version 0) determined
    2) Under what situation at the time of goods receipt ,will an entry " Price diff A/c Dr & cost of production-Credit will be posted, instead of  Inventory A/c being debited?
    Awaiting a reply
    -Regards
    Amit Kulkarni

    Hi Amit
the easy answer first: The standard price is just taken out of the material segment without WBS assignment. That means if you maintain a standard price in the accounting view of the material master for the material number + plant that will be the fallback to be used. That will at least reuslt in a inventory posting, instead of pure price differences (against a price of zero)
Why your production order cost estimate could not be derived I cannot say. But he first startegy will be to search for the cost estimate to the WBS. Is there not something in the project system to perform a project costing and save it? in that case that will be searched and used for the order target cost and inventory posting.

  • Sales order costing - MTO Scenario

    Hi Experts,
I am working on SAP ECC 6.0 on a Make-to-order scenario.
I have created sales otder; run MRP for the sales order and converted the planned order to Production order and confirmed the production order.
But I don't know the period end processes of make to order scenario. Please answer my following queries:
Whether <b>WIP</b> will be calculated at Sales order level or individual production order level related to this sales order?
Whether <b>variances</b> are to be calculated at each production order level or at sale order level?
Which t-code should be used for calculation of variances if it is calaculated at sales order level? The production orders have TECO status.
Whether variances are to be settled at sales order level or each production order level?
Which Transfer Control should I use in Costong Variant "Sales Order KDN" or "Complete Transfer"?
Please also forward me some documents, if you have, which explains the whole step by step cycle from creation of sales order to settlement of sales order.
My email id is  [email protected]
    Request your help.
    Thanks & Best Regards,
    Bijay Kumar Deo

    Hi Bijay
To add few more checks and points - please note the following
    1)  Whether WIP will be calculated at Sales order level or individual production order level related to this sales order?
    A)  You need to selected RA for sales order in WIP RA version to ensure WIP is calculated for production orders which are linked to sales order
    2)  Whether variances are to be calculated at each production order level or at sale order level?
    A)  This would depend on whether u r following valuated or Non Valuated sales order stocks / costing
If is is non valuated u cannot determine variances, actual costs of production order are settled to sales order item
If it is valuated sales order following sales order costing, you can transfer production varainces to sales order item
    3)  Create settlement profile having sales order as valid receiver and assign profile to production type created for the sales order - MTO scenario
    4)  Which Transfer Control should I use in Costong Variant "Sales Order KDN" or "Complete Transfer"?
4A)  Suggested to have complete transfer as transfer control strategy
Hope the above clarifies.  Please assign points if useful as a way to say thanks
Any more suggestions / corrections to above points for the above scenairo are appreciated from forum members

    Hi
If settlement is done properly i.e. w/o test run indicator and the rework order has values posted to it - Then KO88 or CO88 must be successful. If not, system would tell you the error #

  • Report by Internal Order that includes cost element and order type

    Good Morning Gurus'
Is there an SAP Standard Report that shows Internal order, cost element and order type?  I find many with order, but not order type.
    Thanks a million!!

    Hi,
No, I don't think so. You can create a workaround by defining order group based on order type by intervals. Or, of course, develop your own report.

  • Costing on Internal Orders with different plan versions

    Hi,
Is it possible to carry out Costing on Internal Orders using different plan versions?
I would like to carry out more than one costing on Internal Order so that I could compare different versions. Maybe there are other parameters (other than plan versions) which can be used for executing different parallel costing.
    Best wishes,
    Karol

    Hi Karol,
In Release 3.0, the following new planning functions are available in order planning:
    <b>Copy plan versions</b>
In Release 3.0, you can plan order costs for internal orders in different versions. In contrast to earlier releases, you can now
    1. change versions
    2. copy versions
    3. Here you can select :
the planned values to be copied: annual or total values
whether the planned values in the target version are to be retained or overwritten compare versions using the information system
Planned values are not revaluated in the target version (for example, when you change the value date).
Overhead and settlements are not copied and, if required, must be repeated in the target version

  • Preli cost compo struc of production orders to sales orders -Non valuated

    Hi experts
We use Non valuated sales order cost/settlement and assembly order processing. So production order is created from sales order and prel cost estimate is created in the production order. Now we notice that the cost component struc in production order is not copied into sales order. Only the EK02 is copied with total cost.
How to bring cost compo struc from production order to sales order ?
This may be a special cost estimate with costing and Is it possible to bring cost compo struc to copa record type A or F.
I know standard cost compo mapping in copa but I could not see the costing variant used in production order in copa master data configuration.
    regards
    KT

If the sales order is not a cost object, you cannot cost in it, and you can therefor also not see the cost component split.
When you sell the material, you can pull through the cost component to PA, via the material master using the COPA valuation strategy. However, only the info for the material in the sales doc line item.
You don't link to a costing variant, you link using the above valuation strategy and the costing key. The costing variant sits inside the costing key.

  • Difference between sale order Costing & Standard Product Costing

    Hi experts
I wanted to know Importance of Sales Order Costing & standard Product Costing.what are the benefits of these.
    Regards
    Sandeep patil

    Dear Sir,
we are implementing SAP in packing industry. In packing industry in PP Bill of material is frequently change, for this we are implementing sales order costing.
We are doing the following things,
    1. we are doing the inquiry at that time we are doing unit costing.
    2. On the basis of inquiry we are preparing the quotation. the unit costing done in inquiry flow to the Quotation because we r preparing the quotation with reference to inquiry.
    3. Similarly we are preparing the sales order based on quoation and unit costing data flows.
    4. Now when we run the MRP it doesnot explode the unit costing material requirement.
Please tell us how the unit costing material data will flow to MRP run.
    Please reply.

  • Flow material product cost to sales order cost and no explosion of structur

    Hello,
We have a business requirement - Business is currently performing product costing at material on monthly basis using quantity structure (with help of avaiable bom and routings). Material costing nicely gives the cost with clear split of material cost, labour cost, external cost etc. Then at sales order level we want to do the preliminary sales order costing. The reason for sales order planned costing is, we are performing result analysis revenue based by comparing planned cost. Business is saying, we already calculated the material cost, labour cost at the product level and same should be as it is transferred to the sales order planned cost and we just want to add the overheads.
The cost already calculated should directly pass to sales order and the order should not explode the BOMs again or try to find activity prices from routings. Then with the already available values of material, labour costs, system should only add the overheads via costing sheet.
The cost compenent structure exploded in material should be passed to sales order and not just the total cost.
There are several reasons I believe sap should not allow this behaviour. I seek your inputs to validate the same.

THIS SHOULD BE POSSIBLE WITH "TRANSFER STRATEGIES" - TCODE OKKM.
GO BY THE BELOW GIVEN PATH AND TRY.
READ IMG DOCUMENTATION FIRST, THEN TRY.

  • "Alternate" Sales Order Costing for configurable product

We are using condition EK02 to record the statistical value of the product cost associated with a make-to-order (configurable) product. Our current accounting system is moving average, so this EK02 value is based on the current moving average of all the components.
Management has a need to store a second statistical value which would be based on standard cost rather than moving average. This value would be used to assess margins on a fixed rather than moving basis. It would not update accounting in any way.
I understand that the method used to perform order costing is configured in SD > Basic functions > Accounting & costing > Maintain requirements class for costing and account assignment. But again, I do not want to change the current method, I want to add a second.
Can anyone suggest a method for doing this?
    Thank you,
    Michele

    Hi
For getting margin from standard price in material master ,i think u can use VPRS in pricing conditions.
Use the VPRS and its negative copy  for getting  actaul margin from sales in pricing procedure.
