SAP GUI 7.20 Frontend screenshot functionality

Hello,
as mentioned in the SAP Note 1393114 - "New features in SAP GUI for Windows 7.20"
there should be a new Feature called:
"Frontend screenshot functionality: The SAP System can now transfer screenshots of the current SAP GUI state to the server."
Anybody knows how this Feature should work? or how it is activated?

My question was raised after I read the BIFAQ, where it is stated:
Which BW 3.5 front-end versions can I use on top of NetWeaver BI 2004s?
You can use SAP GUI 6.20 with the latest BW 3.5 front-end patch to work with an SAP NetWeaver 2004s System (only BW 3.5 front-end functionality).
You can also use SAP GUI 6.40 Comp 4 or higher and BW 3.5 front-end ('BW Add-in') (only BW 3.5 front-end functionality).
SAP NetWeaver 2004s BI front-end is installed separately ('BI Add-in' on the installation CD).

Question:
Is the BW 3.5 frontend (with GUI 6.20) identical to the BW 3.5 frontend add-on (with GUI 6.40)?

I think they are identical, the very difference is between 3.5 tools and NW2004s tools.

Function call in SAP GUI with errors

Dear All,
 When i am calling FM of Comports using OLE Integration i got " Function call in SAP GUI with errors" error
now my front end version is 6.40. how to solved this problem.
In my Function Module i am creating object like this
CREATE OBJECT O_OBJ 'MSCOMMLib.MSComm.1'.
 IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
 RAISE NO_CREATE_OBJECT.
 ENDIF.
it raised the sy-subrc = 2 this error is "Function call in SAP GUI with errors"

We are facing the same issue.
Interestingly
From program's code only we are facing this issue.
If we display the program and Execute (Direct processing), it is working fine.

Transaction iView( Tcode) Error: Function call in SAP GUI with errors

Hey Guys:
I use Transaction iView to show the ABAP application on Portal. The application works to import data from client to BW. After I fill all the information and execute the application, the system returns the error message " Function call in SAP GUI with errors".
The ABAP application works fine on SAP GUI, so it should not be the program problem.
Any Suggestion for this will be nice. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your response. I check the servers which i have access, and all of them cannot work correctly.
First, other iViews(Dynpro,BW Report,BSP,KM...) work fine.
Second, our backend system is a BW server.
I try to do so on our EP production and development, also connect them to our BW production and development servers. All of those are failed and have the same problem.
The t-code comes from our abap program and register on BW server, and hte program works fine when I use SE38 to execute it.
PS. The Transaction iView works fine before, but I have no idea why it just crash now.
Please let me know if you have any suggestion about this.

PCUI: is print functionality achievable directly as in SAP gui?

As happens in SAP GUI, we can directly print a document,
without taking its preview.
As per my understanding, in PCUI (BSP application), we always provide PRINT button which always create a preview and then we print it from the preview.
Is this functionality achievable in PCUI?

first: Welcome to SDN.
Please keep in mind that PC-UI is a Web Application. You have to live with the preview PDF because you normally never know if your system could reach the printer of the user. Through the web you could not use the local printers.

SAP GUI 7.10 - What are your experiences?

Hi All,
We are considering updating our GUI from 6.20 to 7.10. Has anyone out there done this? If so, did you come across any problems i.e. versions of Windows that it does not work on?
Has anyone used the GUI in a Citrix environment? If so, was there a greater overhead on the servers?
Does the GUI have any compatibility issues with older versions of MS Office?
Any comments will be gratefully received.

There are some points that are defined and you must have read these in the documents:
a) *SAP web dynpro Active Component Framework (ACF)* - framework to integrate Active Components (ActiveX / Java Applets) into the Web dynpro.
    At the present there are two supported Components:
          Office Integration
          Adobe Integration
b) BI pre calculation service for MS Excel u2013 you can install BI frontend as a standalone.
     SAPSprint u2013 server-based printing on Windows (formerly SAPLPD)
     SAP GUI Screen Reader Extension u2013 an interface allows a screen reader to access the SAP GUI object model at runtime and select the required information for speech and Braille output. It is based on SAP GUI Scripting API.
c) In case GUI was installed from an installation server users have the possibility to enable automatic update from this server.
d) System tabstrip of SAP Logon pad has a new popup window with tabstrips
e) New frontend editor u2013 for ABAP programming. Is integrated to ABAP workbench (TA: SE*), SE38, SE37, SE24). Its new user interfaces and is completely customizable. Frontend editor integrates all modern code editing features like: code hints, code completion, .
f) New debugger u2013 has a high volume of new and known functions that can be called using menus or icons. It requires an additional external session where it runs.
But there are some problems that we faced:
a) Sometimes it happens that after installing this gui the Internet Explorer corrupts.
b) Users faced some initial trouble to add the new systems in SAPGui as it is little bit complex.
c) Some performance issues when used on low end desktops.
d) But make sure to make a copy of *.xla file. It may give you problems.
But strangly when we installed for Citrix we were happy that we were out or any big problems.

SAP GUI 7.40/Blue Crystal Theme/NWBC 5.0

Hi All,
I recently upgraded my SAP GUI to 7.40 (which includes NWBC 5.0). I initially downloaded SAP GUI 7.40 and had many issues (Which it seems like everyone else had as well, but almost all of the issues that I experienced were fixed with the first patch.) I also updated NWBC 5.0 to patch level 3 which fixed an issue I saw with systems with router strings.
I love the tabbed browsing with NWBC 5.0 as well as the favorites area for quick navigation.
What are your thoughts on the new Blue Crystal Theme? Is anyone seeing any issues with this new theme? I saw an issue with theme originally with missing buttons, but those all seem to have been resolved. What are some of the other issues anyone is seeing?
I have also read about being able to open NWBC within the GUI itself, but unfortunately due to my setup being linked to a sandbox which does not have Single Sign On (SSO) setup, this piece did not work for me. Has anyone else been able to setup this functionality? I would love to hear additional feedback on it.
Feel free to comment with other functionality that you like with the upgrade to SAP GUI 7.40/NWBC 5.0.

I just downloaded SAP GUI 7.40 Patch Level 2 this morning. Looks like SAP changed up the look of the Blue Crystal Theme even more to match up with the Fiori theme. Here is a screenshot of the new look in transaction PA30 and you can compare to my original message above to see the changes.

Problems installing SAP GUI 7.1 patch level 4 for Bex Analyzer

Hi all,
I have a problem installing the SAP GUI for BW - running office 2003, have tried to install without success. The old Bex tools seem to work, but not the new ones and when opening any of the tools report designer or web application designer I get the error : System configured incorrectly. The new functionality in Bex Analyzer do not respond when clicking on the icons.

SAP GUI refresh printer list

Hi all,
We have a very strange problem in SAP GUI...seems that the SAP GUI does not refresh its printer list.
A new printer was installed, and old one removed, but when you try to print something.. you see the two printer.
How is that possible?
It seems SAPGUI does not detect the change, or it writes the printer list somewhere, where it has no write access anymore.
Computer restarted - nothing!
Any help will be apreciated

Hello Alessandra,
the two Access Methods use completely different technologies, therefore you will see a completely different result with Access Method G.
When Access Method G is used, the R/3 printer popup will not show the the frontend printers anymore. Where the printers appeared with Access Method F, the place will be simply empty with Access Method G. This means: it will not be possible anymore to select the frontend printer with 'G' in the R/3 popup (which is shown in your screenshot).
Instead, the frontend printer can be selected with a new popup. After the R/3 printer popup has been confirmed, a new popup will appear. This will be shown by the Windows OS.
This popup should not show the double printer problem. If the double printer problem appears here too, that means something still has not been uninstalled / deleted from the frontend.
The reason is that this new popup is handled by the Windows OS. So if this new popup still shows both printers, Windows needs to be checked why is this so.

SAP GUI 7.2 Crashing after server selection

I'm having an issue with one of our users. It has been working fine before. Windows 7 32bit. Whenever she selects a server to log in to it just closes out SAPGUI. I have tried reinstalling, updating to the latest patchlevel and removing everything SAP related off the machine. This is only happening to one user. After figuring out how to make logon traces I've been trying to figure out the logs. One log that caught my eye was GUIDLLEN.trc.

You may be lucky if it installs. By the time Windows 7 came out SAP had de-supported SAP GUI 7.20. The SAPSetup.exe release may not be able to recognize any recently updated Microsoft OS DLLs necessary for installation.
However, I would recommend you check the services file to ensure the necessary ports are correct and that either your local firewall or network firewall isn't blocking any of these ports. This should clear up the error: "Cannot connect to message server".
I can also see there is a permission issue with open, write read with %sfile. Can you ensure this has administrator permission's or permitted to do these activities.

Every first installation of SAP GUI 7.30 PL8 is affected. This is a cross-platform issue (Windows 7 and Windows 8.1). If there was our older package version (SAP GUI 7.30 PL4) installed, the installation of SAP GUI 7.30 PL8 gets done without problems.
Every new client with the SAP GUI 7.30 PL8 assigned or the re-installation of it, and every first installation of the package on a client without SAP GUI leads to the mentioned issue - package gets installed with the mentioned error, afterwards the uninstallation gets started by our environment and finally the installation gets done with the second try. This is not a practicable method for our support staff.
Are there any hints how to resolve this issue. (A upgrade to the newest patch level of SAP GUI is not a practicable solution)

Hello Christian,
For older releases of the SAP GUI client a good approach is to create package for uninstalling old SAP GUI. Depending on the state of the old SAP GUI's you're upgrading those may not be "clean" enough to warrant upgrading in place.
The older GUI's have component's no longer provided with the newer releases so most recommendations are to uninstall completely an do a fresh installation.
I credit Matt Fraser for this information and suggest reading his documentation. The last 4 articles are germane to you're situation. I hope this helps you.

Insert Button on SAP GUI Logon Screen

is it possible to insert a button on the SAP GUI logon screen like the "new password" button?
We want to insert a button, with which the user can generate a new initial password, if he has forgotten his password.

Well, I'd propose to leave the SAPGUI screen untouched but only place a comment on the logon screen (see [note 205487|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/205487]) which informs the user on a URL to a web application (BSP) which provides the desired "forgotten password" self-service functionality.
In the internet you find many examples of such "forgotten password" self-services - good ones and not so good ones. What all of them have in common is the requirement that the user has provided a valid email address or mobile number (during the account registration) which can be used for the required off-band communication. However they differentiate in the way they try to mitigate misuse: some prompt for a so-called passphrase (in most cases: the user has entered a free-text answer to a question chosen from a fixed set of predefined questions, during accoutn registration) before sending a newly created password to the email address retrieved from the user account; others generate a (random) "password change token" which they send to the email address and prompt the user to enter this "password change token" on the webpage (the account remains untouched until the correct "password change token" was entered, in most cases this is also time-restricted). I prefer the latter one.

SSO Using SAP GUI Logon

Here's my question gurus...
Is there a way to enable SSO so that, after a user authenticates themselves within the portal, go back to the standard Windows SAP GUI Logon(pad) select the system enter the desired client and logon with having to provide a username and password? The credentials would be passed from the portal to the connected backend system.
We currently have a slew of systems and there corresponding clients it would be awesome to sync all systems with the portal and only have to administer passwords from and for the portal. Consequently the portal would handle the rest. The folks here have not fully embraced using the html version of the gui hence the reason for this posting.

If i understood your requirement, You want to use SAP functionality form portal.
You Can do that, by creating a SAP System from your portal and you can call any Transactions from the portal it self, by using that System.
