SAP GUI screens in Web dynpro ABAP
Is there an easy way to convert SAPU GUI screns like VA01 into webdynpro screens like the old way of doing with ITS?
I don't want to use the SAP portal. I just want to use Webdynpro ABAP only. Please share your thoughts.
Thanks
ITS is the only tool with automatic translation of SAPGUI screens. Even if we autoconverted to Web Dynpro, you would end up with a Web Dynpro Screen that pretty much looks and feels like the old SAPGUI screen. There is a screen conversion wizard in Web Dynpro, but it isn't really recommended. It only does partial conversion, the screen designs aren't optimal (hence the WDA that looks like a dynpro) and the code of the component is messy. You really need to redesign from scratch to take advantage of the features of Web Dynpro.

SAP GUI call from Web Dynpro Abap
Hi all,
I heard about the possibility to call the SAP GUI directly from my Web Dynpro Abap Application, so that the GUI is integrated in my web browser. But i could not find any information about that.
Maybe you can help me.
Thanks,
JohannesHi Johannes,
Its not possible to directly call your R/3 GUI from your WDA. You can try the "Screen Design Time Conversion" tool in SAP. You can go through this [link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/30/f2156a26fb4b4d86c5b0ce9f86bfb3/frameset.htm] for further details regarding it.
But please also pay heed to Thomas's advise in [here|Is there a converter for classic dynpros?;.

How to View Smartforms or SAP Script Forms in Web Dynpro ABAP
Do anyone have idea of how to View Smartforms or SAP Script Forms in Web Dynpro ABAP?
Please let me know. ThanksHi Sameeksha,
You can display an smartform in WDA as an pdf file. Try go through this [article |https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f0de1eb8-0b98-2910-7996-8a3c2fcf6785]where Nanda does explain about the same.

Adobe Reader error with SAP interactive form in Web dynpro ABAP
Hi,
We are having a strange intermittent problem with Adobe Reader. When we try to open PDF files from SAP Frontend we get an error pop-up. The pop-up does not have any text. The title of the pop-up has "Adobe Reader". There is a blue question mark and an OK button. The form is inserted into Web Dynpro ABAP page. This web dynpro application is executed in SAP GUI by this program:
REPORT TEST1 MESSAGE-ID SWDP_RUNTIME.
start-of-selection.
CALL FUNCTION 'WDY_EXECUTE_IN_PLACE'
EXPORTING
PROTOCOL = 'HTTPS' " HTTP | HTTPS
INTERNALMODE = 'X' "SPACE - browser is started
PARAMETERS =
APPLICATION = 'Z_FORM'
CONTAINER_NAME = 'TEST'
EXCEPTIONS
INVALID_APPLICATION = 1
BROWSER_NOT_STARTED = 2
OTHERS = 3.
IF sy-subrc EQ 1.
MESSAGE a400.
ELSEIF sy-subrc = 2.
MESSAGE a401.
ELSEIF sy-subrc = 3.
MESSAGE a667.
ENDIF.
Adobe Reader version is 9.1.2
Is there any solution for this?
Many thanks for answer.Jiri,
The reason why I thought downgrading would help is because Reader 9 and above is probably not fully supported by SAP yet.
You can maybe open an OSS and see if Adobe 9 is fully supported or not.

Problem in getting parameter value from selection screen in web dynpro abap
Hi,
I am facing problem in getting parameter value from selection screen.
Please find my code below:
DATA LT_PAR_ITEM TYPE IF_WD_SELECT_OPTIONS=>TT_SELECTION_SCREEN_ITEM.
FIELD-SYMBOLS:<FS_PAR_ITEM> LIKE LINE OF LT_PAR_ITEM,
<FS_OBJ_USAGE> TYPE REF TO data.
WD_THIS->M_HANDLER->GET_PARAMETER_FIELDS( IMPORTING ET_FIELDS = LT_PAR_ITEM ).
LOOP AT LT_PAR_ITEM ASSIGNING <FS_PAR_ITEM>.
CASE <FS_PAR_ITEM>-M_ID.
WHEN `OBJ_USAGE`.
ASSIGN <FS_PAR_ITEM>-M_VALUE->* TO <FS_OBJ_USAGE>.
[ Here, sy-subrc is 4, <FS_OBJ_USAGE> is not assigning.]
ENDCASE.
ENDLOOP.
So, can any one solve this problem.
Thanks in advance,
RadhikaHi Radhika,
Try using GET_RANGE_TABLE_OF_SEL_FIELD...
Please Refer below code..
DATA: NODE_FLIGHTS TYPE REF TO IF_WD_CONTEXT_NODE.
DATA: RT_CARRID TYPE REF TO DATA.
DATA: ISFLIGHT TYPE TABLE OF SFLIGHT.
DATA: WSFLIGHT TYPE SFLIGHT.
FIELD-SYMBOLS: <FS_CARRID> TYPE TABLE.
Retrieve the data from the select option
RT_CARRID = WD_THIS->M_HANDLER->GET_RANGE_TABLE_OF_SEL_FIELD( I_ID = 'S_CARR_ID' ).
Assign it to a field symbol
ASSIGN RT_CARRID->* TO <FS_CARRID>.
CLEAR ISFLIGHT. REFRESH ISFLIGHT.
SELECT * INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE ISFLIGHT FROM SFLIGHT
WHERE CARRID IN <FS_CARRID>.
NODE_FLIGHTS = WD_CONTEXT->GET_CHILD_NODE( NAME = `FLIGHTS` ).
NODE_FLIGHTS->BIND_ELEMENTS( ISFLIGHT ).
Thanks,

Use of Web Dynpro ABAP as UI in SAP NetWeaver BPM?
Hello,
Have anybody heard of any plans by SAP to support SAP Web Dynpro ABAP as another option for the UI in SAP NeWeaver BPM?
As SAP now delivers some Web Dynpro ABAP UI:s as part of EHP:s etc it would be good to be able to reuse these in SAP NetWeaver BPM.
All input is welcome.
Thanks for your help and support,
/Markusi heard it can be expected in 7.3.

Data Maintenance Web Dynpro ABAP versus Classic ABAP
I am working on a project where I will have to create a couple of custom master data tables. In classic SAP it is very easy to create standard table maintenance screens for master data via transaction SE54 where you can assign an authorization group for security purposes if necessary. Although we very much like Web Dynpro ABAP development, I cannot find an easy way to create the same userfriendly table maintenance screens as we know them in classic SAP.
That's why I am a bit in doubt: on the one hand we want the web look and feel, but on the other hand creating the maintenance functionality in classic sap is very simple and straight forward. Whatever the solution will be, classic or not, it will become part of a portal someday. I know both solutions can be linked to a portal so that's no decision maker in our case.
Does somebody have any idea if there is something available for generating standard data maintenance screens in Web Dynpro ABAP without the need for a lot of additional coding? Basically I am looking for a web dynpro replacement for transaction SE54.
Looking forward to your thoughs!!
kind regards
Angelique Heutinck
IFFHi Angelique Heutinck ,
Webdynpro abap is a screen design interface, as module pool, in module pool development we can only desigh screens, similarly in wda is also intented to design screen that are web enabled,
while in classical abap we have the povision to call a transaction from a screen, while in wda, we have the provision to call another screen or view, but not a transaction.
unfortunately we cant embedd a tranction inside a wda development, so the only provision to simulate SE54 in wda is to create screens manually.

Web Dynpro ABAP Stylesheet - Portal Integration
We have a Web Dynpro ABAP being displayed through a Portal iView. The Portal server and the Web Dynpro ABAP server are separate. Our problem is in getting the Web Dynpro ABAP to use the stylesheet of the Portal.
We can make this work by forcing an external stylesheet (via application parameters, global Dynpro settings, or passed on the end of the URL), but we have to hard-code the full URI of the Portal stylesheet. This would be very hard to manage if we hard-code every iView's CSS location (or set every individual Web Dynpro's application parameters), and we want instead for the Portal to supply whatever the user's stylesheet is dynamically.
So what we want is: if we change the Portal stylesheet, the Portal would just pass the new stylesheet URI to our ABAP Web Dynpro iViews without manual modification of the iViews.
Here is an example of what works:
http://our-abap-server.com/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/cprojects?sap-ep-themeroot=https://our-portal-server.com/irj/portalapps/com.sap.portal.design.portaldesigndata/themes/portal/ourportalstylesheetname
Shouldn't the Portal iView automatically pass sap-cssurl or sap-ep-themeroot to Web Dynpro ABAP? We have "Supply Portal Stylesheet" checked on the iView it just doesn't pass anything to the Web Dynpro ABAP. Why wouldn't SAP pass this parameter dynamically to the Web Dynpro ABAPs? Is this a product error?
There seems to be a great deal of confusion about this on the SDN message forums... I think this may be the core issue.
We are using a 7.0 SP13 Portal with an ECC 6.0 SP12 backend.Now that you mention it, I ran into that exact same issue -- the application parameters didn't work for hard-coding the theme. The fix ended up being the web server semicolon thing I mentioned earlier (that was why the parameter didn't make it to the backend).
The themeroot is automatically sent to the backend from the portal, so you shouldn't really have to manually send it as a parameter anyways.
I'd suggest talking to your network guys. Also this could be the result of the SP you are on (we're on 13 for the portal and the backend system -- maybe this feature doesn't work in some earlier SP's?). There are also some options to force the theme as a WD application parameter on the backend side, which you could check into. Details on those are here:
[http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/7b/fb57412df8091de10000000a155106/frameset.htm]
Also you could look at the requests being made by installing HttpAnalyzer in your browser. You can inspect "post" parameters going from the portal to the backend system. One of those posts (the first one to the backend system) should contain the parameter sap-cssurl (same kind of thing as sp-ep-themeroot). This is where our problem turned up as this parameter was not being posted.
Lastly, make sure that your frontend portal and backend portal are in the same domain. For instance:
frontend.domain.com
backend.domain.com
If your backend and frontend are in different domains it messes all kinds of things up, including stylesheets I think. If you can't get around this, then read about domain relaxing (but I highly recommend getting the domains the same).
When we started, ours were:
portal.dx.company.com
sap.company.com
This created all kinds of problems. Putting our systems in the same domain with the same protocol and fixing our little semicolon web server problem fixed basically all of our portal complaints. Up until that time, we had also had many problems with session management (backend sessions were getting stuck until the HTTP timeout).
That's all I know. Good luck. -
How to do the feild validations in web dynpro abap
dear all,
how to do the feild validations for the screen in web dynpro abap.
thanks,
jyothi.hi jyothi,
There are diffrent ways of doing validations for fields of screen in webdynpro abap depending on the requirements.
I am giving simplest way of doing this validation(it may fullfil your requirement also)
For e.g you want that without entering value in particular field user should not proceed to submit the data in screen.
DATA lo_message_manager TYPE REF TO if_wd_message_manager.
DATA lo_api_controller TYPE REF TO if_wd_controller.
lo_api_controller ?= wd_this->wd_get_api( ).
lo_message_manager = lo_api_controller->get_message_manager( ).
DATA var1 type string.
DATA: node TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
node = wd_context->get_child_node( 'DATA' ).
node->get_attribute( EXPORTING name = ' VALUE'
IMPORTING value = var1 ).
IF var1 IS INITIAL.
CALL METHOD lo_message_manager->report_error_message
EXPORTING
message_text = 'Please enter the value'.
EXIT.
ENDIF.
Now in above code VALUE is the attribute with whome your input field is bound .So if user doesnt enter any value into it he will get above msg (u have to use message are ui element to use this method)
If you have any other doubt feel free to ask.

How can I capture mouse click events on BSP or Web Dynpro ABAP Screen
hi Guys,
Currently we have a user inactivity problem,
the requirement is: if user is clicking on BSP/Web Dynpro ABAP screen, he/she is considered active. so we need an mechanism to capture the mouse click event.
Using Firebug, we found that this js is in the iframe which contains BSP/web dynpro scrren: /sap/public/bc/ur/nw5/js/languages/urMessageBundle_en.js
we want to find this js file & put in some javascript code to track user's mouse click, but i cannot find it on server.
while in ie if we type http://host:port/sap/public/bc/ur/nw5/js/languages/urMessageBundle_en.js
this file can be downloaded, means this file is there.
Any one can help on this issue? find the js file or another way to capture the mouse click event.
Thanks a lot with points!Hi Feng Guo,
We can not capture mouse click events on Web Dynpro ABAP Screen . I am not sure about BSP. But as for as I know the portal keep active the iViews until unless mouse clicks happens.
But for your problem I think you can get solution by setting iView Expiration to some more time period.

Web Dynpro ABAP in SAP E-Recruiting
Hi,
We just imported SP8 for our SAP E-Recruiting 6.0. SP8 offers Web Dynpro ABAP as candidate UI. One question we have is how WD pages incorporated for recruiters who still use BSP pages. For example, when a recruiter logs into E-Recruiting and finds a specific candidate, he/she can click on "Candidate Profile" to get to that candidate's pages. In BSP technology, recruiter actually uses exactly the same pages that candidate uses for Work Experience, Education, etc.. With candidate UI using WD technology, does recruiter use the same WD pages when displaying candidate profile information? I have been searching all the possible places, such as IMG, SICF, in order find a spot so that I can set the switch on, but so far unsuccessful.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
LiHi Li ,
At best of my understanding in WD ABAP , its possible to make one WebDynpro page serving same purpose ( showing profile deatils ) visible for manty( Candidate , as well as Recruiter ) ....
I would like to know what exactly you want from web Dynpro ..then I will be in better position to tell you.
FYI ...
1) Web Dynpro ABAP
As the name suggests Web Dynpro for ABAP uses exactly the same meta model as its cousin Web Dynpro for Java. A Web Dynpro component, a Web Dynpro view, a Web Dynpro model, a Web Dynpro controller have the same semantics both for ABAP and Java. The main difference is the designtime environment, the development infrastructure and the runtime environment.
The designtime environment is properly embedded in the ABAP Workbench where Web Dynpro artifacts are simply a new category like BSP applications or classical dynpro based applications before. Also no surprises regarding the development infrastructure. The correction and transport system keeps track on all changes that are done, versions them and helps to propagate the Web Dynpro application from development to production like you would do with ordinary BSP or dynpro-based applications.
Last not least the execution platform is the ABAP server that produces application content ready to be integrated in the NetWeaver Portal seamlessly. Features like portal eventing can be used between applications written in ABAP or applications developed with Java.
2 ) I can give you links that can help you a lot.
First of all start doing SAP SDN tutorials .
Create some compenents with BAPI , Component usage and ALV .

/people/marilyn.pratt/blog/2005/12/20/web-dynpro-for-abap
Try to Download demo tutorials from SDN library & Try to search WebDynpro ABAP WebLogs .
Wait not just that SAP has provided you with ample demo example of WD ABAP already bundled with SAP . Just Try out Components starting with WDR . I can tell you few like WDR_TEST_EVENTS ( It shows how every UI elments to use )
See packages like SWDP_DEMO , SALV_WD_DEMO
there are many more .

I don't understand your question completely. Is your question related to the Internet Transaction Server? If it is a Web Dynpro question, I can move this thread to the Web Dynpro forum. What do you think?

How to add screen elements at run time on button click in Web Dynpro abap?
Hello All,
I have a requirement wherein the user wants to add the textbox dynamically at runtime on button click action. My questions is, Is it feasible to dynamically add screen elements at runtime? If yes, how?
Please help.
ThanksHi Ajinkya,
This is absolutely possible! Adding view elements at runtime is called "dynamic programming". There are a lot of good resources and tutorials on SCN if you do a search. To start you off, here is an excellent series by Thomas Szücs:
Dynamic Programming in Web Dynpro ABAP - Introduction and Part I: Understanding UI Elements
Dynamic Programming in Web Dynpro ABAP - Part II: Handling ViewElements
Dynamic Programming in Web Dynpro ABAP - Part III: Aggregations and DDIC-Binding of ViewElements
Another option that avoids dynamic programming is to create the view element at design time but bind its visible property to a context attribute of type WDUI_VISIBILITY. You could initially set its visibility to "none" until the user clicks the button, then you could change its visibility to "visible".
Cheers,
Amy
