SAP JVM switch SAPINST GUI not launching

Hi All,
I have performed SAP JVM switch in all portal servers. One of the server is giving issue. I is not launching sapinst GUI screen. There was 2 JDK versions installed j2sdk1.4.2_13 and j2sdk1.4.2_29. I keep tried changing j2sdk1.4.2_29 in some properties file besides java home is pointing to j2sdk1.4.2_29. I also changed SAPINST_JRE_HOME property in environment variables with  j2sdk1.4.2_29 to be in sync. Now below log is showing  j2sdk1.4.2_29 but it is still not launching sapinst gui. Please help. System: Portal 7.0.

very true Reagan.
Kavitha, you just need to make sure that the instance profile has the right details.
SAPJVM_VERSION. Enter the new version of the SAP JVM e.g.:
    SAPJVM_VERSION = 4.1.028
    and
    jstartup/vm/home = <location of the new jdk>
    for example:
    jstartup/vm/home = /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/jvm/hpia64/
                       sapjvm_6.1.028
After the change, delete following files (they will be recreated after the j2ee restart):
/usr/sap/<SID>/<INSTANCE>/j2ee/cluster/instance.properties.vmprop
/usr/sap/<SID>/<INSTANCE>/SDM/program/config/sdm_jstartup.properties.vmprop
Now do a complete cluster restart.

  • Sap Installation Messed up (GUI not starting)

    Hi there,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post... anyway I have a problem with my sap installation.
What happened is that I tried to install Adobe LiveCycle Designer using the SAP front end installer.
I left only the Adobe LiveCycle Designer  option checked (Business Explorer and SAP GUI were unchecked): the installation program started to install that software, and then began to uninstall the SAP GUI.  When I realized that I stopped the setup program, but the SAP GUI was obviously messed up.
The problem now is that I can't install the SAP GUI again, because the option doesn't show anymore in the setup program.
The feeling is that something is not consistent between the filesystem and the Windows register.
Does anybody experienced the same problem or has an idea on how to solve it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Hi MosMarco,
I am happy to hear that your problem is solved! But you didn´t need to thank me as you found the solution yourself!
Have a nice day and have fun with the Adobe tool!
P.S.: Please check that the Adobe editor is also actually working, because in the past I had some troubles with installing the wrong version! :-s

    Hi,
The system cannot find the path specified
Looks like a required file is missing or not accessible. COuld you check for the last updated log files in the location C:\Program Files/sapinst_instdir/NW70/SWITCH_JDK?
These may give info about the missing file.

  • SAP JVM 4

I'm planning to install SAP Netweaver 7.3 (PI) on X86_64 running Redat Hat Linux 5.8. A prerequisite is installing JDK. According to SAP note 1172419, you can install IBM JDK, but the recommended is SAP JVM.
I was not able to find any documentation on installing SAP JVM. All the documentation is about switching to SAP JVM.
Are there any documentation for installing SAP JVM?

    Hi Experts,
Is it possible to launch a transaction or document in SAP GUI (not WebGUI for windows) from UWL? If yes - how do I achieve that?
    Appreciate your help.

    Hi,
Yes, you can create an SAP transaction iview and open that iview. Refer  following link for task launch :

  • UWL HTML Gui is not launching T-Code

    Helllo Experts,
We have a workiten in UWL that launches a transaction code in ECC when you click it.
When I set the SAP Gui type to Win Gui it launches the t-code. If I change it to HTML Gui it does not open the t-code, I don't get any error message and it goes straight to the navigation screen.
In our development environment, the html gui works perfect. We have the problem in our QA environment.
    Thanks
    Ismail

    Hi,
did you check that ITS is working fine in your QA.
check webgui under ITS working fine or not under sicf.
    Thank you

    Hi,
That particualr error should be solved by adding the following parameter to your instance profile:
    jstartup/vm/parameters = -XX:-ExtendedExceptionMessages
The issue is related to note 1693118

  • JVM v1.4.1 apps not launching???

    Hi all,
Bear with me, as I'm a newbie here. (and I'm a Q/A person, not a developer)...
We have been installing JVM v1.3.1 with our apps and decided to go with JVM v1.4.1 to fix some problems we had.
We have had no problems in our in-house testing what-so-ever, but all client pcs on Win 2000 Server do not launch.
We should have the same setup here as the client does, except for maybe different hardware???
    Anyone seen this before?
p.s. When we switch back to JVM 1.3.1 it works fine)...
    Thanks for any help.

And how are you launching them?
Command line? Double click on a jar? Double click on something else?

  • BSP Exception: Access to URL /irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.ip.bi.web.portal.integration.launcher;jsessionid= not allowed

    Dear all,
I've created out BI system in our new Portal installation and tested the connection. Everything works fine. I added the certificate of the portal to STRUSTSSO2 in BI ABAP and assigned SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW to my Account.in BI. If I open the iView from the portal I get a BSP Exception with the message:
The used connection by the iView is to the ABAP-Stack of the BI-system not to the JAVA-Stack. Is that correct?
BSP Exception: Der Zugriff auf die URL /irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.ip.bi.web.portal.integration.launcher;jsessionid=IDBYatWIpt_pX4uc52ChoZqMWkm1RAFW2qsA_SAP ist untersagt.
    What can be the problem/reason?
    Thanks!

    Hi Gerrit
In both places you have to provide a authorization access to the end users then only it will work. because your are already said that in SAP_All & SAP_New working fine
Back end BI system access as per the word document as pasted the link
    https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=7&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CFIQFjAG&url=http%3A%2F%2Fbasisdsp.f…
For SAP portal you have to create iview's assign the same to end user
Assigning an Authentication Scheme to an iView - User Authentication and Single Sign-On - SAP Library
Portal Authentication Infrastructure - Configuring the Portal for Initial Use - SAP Library

  • BSP Application does not launch in SAP R/3 4.7

    Hi Experts,
We are trying to create a BSP application in SAP R/3 4.7. We are using the MVC architecture for the same. However, we are failing to launch the BSP pages. When the URL is launced either from SAP or directly in IE, the password prompt appears, after entering the user name and password it reappears again for 3 times and then throws a message invalid user name or password. This happens for all User Names. The passwords are correct though.
We have similar BSP Application in our SAP CRM 4.0 box and it works. I do not have much expertise in BSP, thus would want to know whether there are any BASIS settings that could be required in the system before we proceed. How do we know whether the system is compatible to BSP applications. We have even activated the BSP Application in SICF (Default_host -> SAP -> BC -> BSP -> SAP -> <BSP Application Name>). The current Support Pack version on the system are as follows,
    SAP_BASIS Release 620 SAPKB62065; SAP_ABA Release 620 SAPKA62065.
Even if we try to launch the standard example BSP applications in the box, even they do not launch. The same problem appears. Do we need to make changes to User Roles level? All these user IDs have SAP ALL access though.
Please let me know how can I sort this out. Also let me know if you would need any further details.
Thanks for your help in advance.
    Regards,
    Subhrangsu

    Hi Subbie,
in transaction SICF navigate to the service default_host->sap->public->ping. Right-click and select "Test Service". If this works then the BSP runtime is working okay.
Then navigate to the service sap->bc->bsp->sap->sbspext_htmlb and try the same there. On this service you will need to enter a username and password.
If all this works then you need to look clser at what you are doing.
    Cheers

John, thanks alot for the information.
We tried your suggestion. The Solaris OS patch is not installed on the server. Also, the .hyperion.<hostname> file was missing in the /u01/app/emmgr home. We added it and we are still not successful. The issue is still there and there are no log files in the /diagnostics/log/config/configtool.log. The only lines being generated are:

    Hello,

I installed the Sun Java System application 8, everything worked (app server, pointbase, deploytool) except the gui admin console (localhost:4848). It would not launch. It <blinked>blinked</blinked>. Really - the tab text blinked on firefox. So I ...
    1. checked PATH and JAVA_HOME to be correct.
    2. rebooted
    2. reinstalled appserver
    3. rebooted
    4. tried firefox & microsoft ie
    To no avail.
I then turned off my firewall. It worked. It might for you too.

    Hi Andy,
I am not sure why you are unable to see the users and groups through the
console., you should be able to. Can you post the config.xml?
    thanks,

We created a new Realm in WebLogic, which specifies the location ofthe
    Netscape
LDAP server. Our Weblogic application, called TGSLC, is able to findthe
    ldap
server to use for authentication. My problem is this- the Admin
    Console
    is not
displaying the new users and groups from the LDAP server. Shouldn'tthe
    WebLogic
Admin Console display any users and groups specified in the ldap
    server,
    which
is referenced in the customized Realm?
