Hi Rolland,
As you told is right, there was a problem in the password,
we changed that password and we have tested the DB connection in db59, this was ok. and we ran the command user_sap SAPLCA,<password>
this was ok.
After the registration has been succefully from LC10 ..

We have two LiveCache Instances sharing the same set of executables for the SAPDB software and we are trying to apply a patch for DBMServer 7.5.0 Build 035 to get to Build 044 for SCM 4.1
I got the following error when I try to use SDBUPD

So I used SDBINST with APO LiveCache as the profile to install the software to /sapdb/LCT/db. Then I executed load_systab and load_lcapps using dbmcli for LCX. I would like to know if I am missing any of the steps. Please advise.

Hi Jay,
sharing one dependent path for two liveCache instances is not supported - exactly due to the tight coupling of SCM and liveCache and the issues resulting from it when patching on of the two liveCaches.
To 'move' over the LCT to the newly installed dependent path you've to unregister the instance first (aka db_drop withoutfiles) and re-register it as a new instance.
Make sure you've a backup before you do this!
1. bring liveCache LCT offline
2. dbmcli -U c db_drop withoutfiles
3. dbmcli u2013s u2013R <new_dependent_path> db_create LCT control,<password>
4. bring liveCache LCT online again
After that the LCT liveCache runs in its own dependent path and you can upgrade the two instances separately.

Hello.
I install SCM 5.0 IDES with LiveCache on Windows Server x64.
After this I run MaxDB->Installation Master (SDBSETUP.EXE). I choose Start Installation/Upgrade. But Me have not asked type database anywhere
Me need livecache type of database instance...
In documentation I read about DBMGUI to create the database instance... But I don have it. Where me get it? Or what else to do ?

Please post the "dbmsrv_<servername>.prt' file located in <IndepDataPath>/wrk on the liveCache server.
A) Check that there are no dbmsrv/dbmrfc processes on the server.
 <InstallationPath>, <IndepData> you will see, when you will run ::
 xinstinfo <liveCache SID>
- remove the shared memory used from the dbmsrv/dbmrfc procsses using
the command ::
<InstallationPath>/pgm/dbmshm DELETE <IndepData> <liveCache SID>
Then try to logon to the dbmserver using command, I assumed that the control is DBM
liveCache user:
dbmcli d <liveCache SID> -u control,<pwd> db_state
B) If A) did not help, could you please try the following:
 Check that there are no dbmsrv/dbmrfc processes on the server.
 Rename the files <IndepData>/wrk/<liveCache SID>.dbm.shi and <IndepData>/wrk/<liveCache SID>.dbm.shm on the liveCache server, the DBM Server Shared Memory.
Try to logon to the dbmserver after that:
dbmcli d <liveCache SID> -u control,<pwd> db_state

Exited Abnormally

last night i was downlading updates for my macbook pro. this morning when all the programs were downloaded and i restarted my computer it didn't restart. the screen only displays a black background with white text. the text says: exited abnormally: Bad system call. Respawning too quickly . 7 more failures without living at least 60 seconds will cause job removal: will restart in 10 seconds
i dont undestand what's going on... do i have to format my computer with the system recovery disks??

i couldnt find out what was going on. however after approx. 2 hrs i inserted the system recovery disk (1) and the computer stared rebooting perfectly (i restarted it mannualy about 5 more times with the disk in because the coputer wouldnt release it when i pushed the eject button)--it was the weirdest thing.
to prevent this situation in the future.. i decided to format my macbook, @ 6.51pm it runs as brand as new . thanks for the suggestions.

I am using Leopard and all is updated. Funny thing though...... When I update my software compressor update comes up. I update it and check for more updates and the same update shows up.

- Setup TMS (STMS)
- Import profiles (RZ10)

Problem in starting SAP liveCache server

Hi,
I am getting the following error message when i tried to start SAP liveCache server with LC10.
"Restart of liveCache LC3 on saplc3cache terminated; reason: User LC3RFC has lock"

Does anyone has idea! abt the error? why it comes and how it can be solved?

Hi Christiane,
The startup procedure is not even reaching the lcinit script. There are absolutly no logs in knldiag and lcinit.log files. After little bit debugging I found the problem. But don't know how to solve it.
The problem occured when I was doing disrptive testing for the liveCache server.
When I kill ("KILL -9 PID") the liveCache server processes (master first and then child) there are some IPC resources hanging over there. These IPC resources (shared memory segments) holds some locks and are preventing the liveCache server to startup.
The problem is not happening when I kill child first and then master process (all the IPCs are getting removed in this case).
I am wondering whether SAP has any tool to remove these IPC resources for liveCache server uniquely for perticular liveCache server (something similar to cleanipc for SAP systems).
I can't write a script to remove all the IPC resources based on the user name ('sdb') which same for liveCache server and MaxDB. (Imagine a case where MaxDB(APO DB) and liveCache server are running together). Any other solutions?
Any answers/suggestions are most welcome.

OS X 10.8.3 Mail Quits with launchd Exited abnormally: Broken pipe: 13

Hello,
I'm using OS X Mail in Mountain Lion and it keeps quitting in the middle of me typing. The "Broken Pipe" error message I'm seeing in console is listed below. I have 3 accounts created in Mail: Exchange Account for Work, iCloud (IMAP) and Yahoo! (IMAP). I didn't have issues until I started using the Exchange account for work.
Anyone have any ideas for how to resolve this issue?

We're trying to implement the suggestions on the chapter 5.1.1 Interface of function module EXIT_SAPLRSR0_001 (page 136), however, we're having problens with the abap sintax CALL_FUNCTION l_d_name IF FOUND.
The command IF FOUND is not accepted.
It'll be very helpful to avoid issues on tranporting include zxrsru01.
I appreciate any additional help on how to implement it.

Distributed landscape:
In distributed landscape, every instance can run on a separate host
- Central services instance for ABAP ( ASCS)
- Enqueue replication server instance (ERS instance ) for ASCS instance
- Database instance
- Primary application server instance (PAS)
High availability :
In high availability ,all above instances can run on seperate host. Here you can run all instance in switchover cluster infrastructure. That means ,for any instance if one node in cluster fails ,it switch over to other other node and still operations can run without any distrubance.
Additional SAP instance:
Additional SAP aaplication instance can be installed to scale the performance of an SAP system. It can be installed on one of the above instance host or on differnt host.
The term "additional application server instance "was introduced to replace term dialog instance from SAP Netweaver 7.1 and higher.

How and where does SAP standard programs update the master tables...
to be precise.. if a (any) transaction occurs the programs behind it holds the data in temporary structures.
where and when does it get updated in the master table.
can anyone tell me how it happens?
I Know that from the where used list one can find the corresponding table but most of the time it wont suffice
I am expecting a proper answer.

SAP Central Instance Health check

Hello all,
We have ECC6.0 running on Oracle 10.2.0.2 on SLES10 SP2. We are using Oracle clusterware(11g release 1) and the database is stand-alone. In other words we are using active/passive cluster.
Our requirment is as follows:
We need to create a Linux script that checks if the SAP Central Instance is up or not. If it is not up, then we need to start it. We will then create an Oracle clusterware application resource based on this script. My question is there any SAP binary/utility that checks the status of the Central Instance?

You should be able to ping Message server (ASCS) if there is a repsonse then no need to do anything.
dpmon pf=/sapmnt/<SID>/profile/<CI_profile> -p | grep alive
and you can also use below command to check whether your message server is up or not.
lgtst name=<SID>
