SAP PM - Deactivating/Dismantling Equipments - effects on Preventive Maint.

Dismantling a piece of equipment means uninstalling it from its current installation location. It may be done in order to:
1. Install it at a different location.
2. Indicate that the equipment is not in operational use and is going to be stored at some storage location for a while. Some other equipment will be installed in its place.
In case 2, the equipment is not subject to breakdown maintenance. However, preventive maintenance may still be carried out. The scheduled preventive maintenance plans will keep generating call objects for this equipment.
But, preventive maintenance may not be needed to be carried out for certian kinds of equipments while they are not in operational use. To stop generation of call objects agaisnt such equipments, we Deactivate the equipment master record alongwith Dismantling it. Call objects are not generated for equipments that are deactivated and hence no preventive maintenance will be carried out until they are Re-installed and Activated.
I need to know if we are handling things in accordance with standard practices by following the measures described above. Secondly, I am concerned about the validity of the assumption that whether preventive maintenance is needed for a certian uninstalled equipment depends on the kind of equipment it is (electrical, mechanical or whatever).
Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Farhan Shaikh

Another way doing that would be scheduling your PMs on basis of the functional location. So then, no matter what equipment is installed, you get a call for the maintenance of the current equipment.
But this is based on the assumption that there is always an equipment installed.

  • Turn off animation effects to prevent nausea?

I've spent an hour poking through the forums, but couldn't find this issue addressed (maybe I'm using the wrong keywords), anyway:
I just got an iPod Touch yesterday and while I love it in theory, in practice I can't use it for more than a few minutes without getting motion sickness from all the sliding and flipping when switching between screens and momentum scrolling. Is there a way to turn off these effects or reduce them? I would like to be able to use this device without wanting to vomit for hours afterward just because of interface animations.

Thanks for the responses (well, most of them -- I'm not getting drugged up because Apple can't design their operating system without "bling," heh).
It's not the finger brushing. I have a similar (unfortunate) reaction to modern computer games with moving 3D graphics (e.g. first-person shooters and those explore-your-surroundings type of games).
I have turned off the effects in apps like Stanza, but unfortunately just navigating the apps and reading my mail (unnecessary sliding pages) is barf-inducing.
Rats. I can scroll as long as I don't lift my finger so the momentum scrolling isn't engaged, but I'd really like to get rid of the sliding effects when switching between screens/home pages.

  • Preventive maint reports

    Dear all
I have the requirement is preventive maintenance reports
Here they needs Equipment, Operations, Remarks, Cheked By , reason not attended the problems, Abnormal if any, actual time
This thing i have communicated to follow thro IW 39 to enter the remarks at confirmation text against each operations. But these things we are not seen any other Std t codes. Better we can go to the ABAP reports
But i am not getting some areas checked by fileds we need technician names (HR module not implemented) where i can found? thro generation of internal tables for all technicians names?? but while doing the order tasks confirmation (IW 41,IW 42) where we can type these?
reason not attended the preventive maintenance problems (Like manpower shortage, Attended breakdown, Process dept not provided) how i can get it reports

    Dear
The pesronel no i cant put since HR module is not here. Also if i am going for Collective confirmation (IW 42,IW 44) not able to find the long text for confirmation text.

  • Preventive maint compliance report

    Hi
I would like to go for the Preventive complaince report.
No. F/loc or M/C Name     Frequencies        Total created  Actual P.M Done                         %   Total cost   Total work hours
    *                          April-09 May-09June-09 Total done     *
like above formats. Thing is only i have to consider the preventive orders. Also i want the Machine available hours (not 24 hours ), Total breakdown hours of M/c and Preventive hours of the M/c in data wise interms of graphical chart. The tables like S115 is giving something but there is no Plant, Workcenters in Input. same thing if we are going for S061 Missing order types. I cant go for the tables like aufk to calculate the generated orders , no of completed..
i need the comparision graphical chart of preventive and Breakdown hours for each machine interms of graphical chart.
I am trying in various ways , but some thing is covering something is not..anybodies worked the requirment..
i will appreciate if you are spending the time

    Hi,
For extracting the Cost of orders ; please see the following table PMCO, here you will find the cost segregated in terms of Material / External Services / Internal labour(value categories) with actual and planned costs for the orders,\.
You can use the selection fields of Plant / order types form the table Aufk and then further link the objnr of aufk and PMCO to calculate the preventive maintennace order costs.
Also you can likn tables AFIH with aufk for equipment and location/assignment of the orders via the linking key aufnr.
Gather all the tables AFIH / AUFK / PMCO and ask your developer to make a report.

  • Preventive Maint Plan for Similar Equipment

    Dear ALL
I hv 100 similar tpye of equipment. I want to create one maintenance plan for all equipment and want to assign all the equipment in that paln. But problem is when i shedule the plan, plan date is same for all the eqipment but its not possible to comlete all the equipement in single day.
So how i map my all equipment in one maintenance plan when i shedule the plan diffrent plan date occur for different equipment.
    Regards
    Neelam

    hi
For your requirement it will be better if you create seperate maintenance plan for different equipment, since the cycle or counter specified for the maintenance plan is common for all the equipments your planned date will be same .hence it is better to create individual plan for individual equipment

  • Do you trust the SAP standard rule set ?

    Hello all,
I have the impression that, too often, the SAP standard ruleset has been taken for granted : upload, generate and use. Here is a post as to why not to do so. Hopefuly, this will generate a interesting discussion.
As I have previously stated in other threads, you should be very careful accepting the SAP standard rule set without reviewing it first. Before accepting it, you should ensure that your specific SAP environment has been reflected in the functions. The 2 following questions deal with this topic :
    1. what is your SAP release  ? ---> 46C is different than ECC 6.0 in terms of permissions to be included in the function permission tab. With every SAP release, new authorization objects are linked to SAP standard tcodes. Subsequently some AUTHORITY-CHECK statements have been adapted in the ABAP behind the transaction code. So, other authorizations need to provided from an implementation point of view (PFCG). And thus, from an audit perspective (GRC-CC), other settings are due when filtering users' access rights in search for who can do what in SAP.
    2. what are your customizing settings and master data settings ? --> depending on these answers you will have to (de)activate certain permissions in your functions. Eg. are authorization groups for posting periods, business areas, material types, ... being used ? If this is not required in the SAP system and if activated in SAP GRC function, then you filter down your results too hard, thereby leaving certain users out of the audit report while in reality they can actually execute the corresponding SAP functionality --> risk for false negatives !
Do not forget that the SAP standard ruleset is only an import of SU24 settings of - probably - a Walldorf system. That's the reason SAP states that the delivered rule set is a starting point.
So, the best practice is :
    a. collect SAP specific settings per connector in a separate 'questionnaire' document, preferably structured in a database
    b. reflect these answers per function per connector per action per permission by correctly (de)activating the corresponding permissions for all affected functions
You can imagine that this is a time-consuming process due to the amount of work and the slow interaction with the Java web-based GRC GUI. Therefore, it is a quite cumbersome and at times error-prone activity ...... That is, in case you would decide to implement your questionnaire answers manually. There are of course software providers on the market that can develop and maintain your functions in an off-line application and generate your rule set so that you can upload it directly in SAP GRC. In this example such software providers are particularly interesting, because your questionnaire answers are structurally stored and reflected in the functions. Any change now or in the future can be mass-reflected in all (hundreds / thousands of) corresponding permissions in the functions. Time-saving and consistent !
Is this questionnaire really necessary ? Can't I just activate all permissions in every function ? Certainly not, because that would - and here is the main problem - filter too much users out of your audit results because the filter is too stringent. This practice would lead too false negatives, something that auditors do not like.
Can't I just update all my functions based on my particular SU24 settings ? (by the way, if you don't know what SU24 settings are, than ask your role administrator. He/she should know. ) Yes, if you think they are on target, yes you can by deleting all VIRSA_CC_FUNCPRM entries from the Rules.txt export of the SAP standard rule set, re-upload, go for every function into change mode so that the new permissions are imported based on your SU24 settings. Also, very cumbersome and with the absolute condition that you SU24 are maintained excellent.
Why is that so important ? Imagine F_BKPF_GSB the auth object to check on auth groups on business areas within accounting documents. Most role administrator will leave this object on Check/Maintain in the SU24 settings. This means that the object will be imported in the role when - for example - FB01 has been added in the menu.  But the role administrator inactivates the object in the role. Still no problem, because user doesn't need it, since auth groups on business areas are not being used. However, having this SU24 will result in an activated F_BKPF_GSB permission in your GRC function. So, SAP GRC will filter down on those users who have F_BKPF_GSB, which will lead to false negatives.
Haven't you noticed that SAP has deactivated quite a lot of permissions, including F_BKPF_GSB ? Now, you see why. But they go too far at times and even incorrect. Example : go ahead and look deeper into function AP02. There, you will see for FB01 that two permissions have been activated. F_BKPF_BEK and F_BKPF_KOA.  The very basic authorizations needed to be able to post FI document are F_BKPF_BUK and F_BKPF_KOA.  That's F_BKPF_BUK .... not F_BKPF_BEK. They have made a mistake here. F_BKPF_BEK is an optional  auth object (as with F_BKPF_GSB) to check on vendor account auth groups.
Again, the message is : be very critical when looking at the SAP standard rule set. So, test thoroughly. And if your not sure, leave the job to a specialized firm.
    Success !
    Sam

    Sam and everyone,
Sam brings up some good points on the delivered ruleset.  Please keep in mind; however, that SAP has always stated that the delivered ruleset is a starting point.  This is brought up in sap note 986996     Best Practice for SAP CC Rules and Risks.  I completely agree with him that no company should just use the supplied rules without doing a full evaluation of their risk and control environment.
I'll try to address each area that Sam brings up:
    1.  Regarding the issue with differences of auth objects between versions, the SAP delivered rulset is not meant to be version specific.  We therefore provide rules with the lowest common denominator when it comes to auth object settings.
The rules were created on a 4.6c system, with the exception of transactions that only exist in higher versions.
The underlying assumption is that we want to ensure the rules do not have any false negatives.  This means that we purposely activate the fewest auth objects required in order to execute the transaction.
If new or different auth object settings come into play in the higher releases and you feel this results in false positives (conflicts that show that don't really exist), then you can adjust the rules to add these auth objects to the rules.
Again, our assumption is that the delivered ruleset should err on the side of showing too many conflicts which can be further filtered by the customer, versus excluding users that should be reported.
    2.  For the customizing settings, as per above, we strive to deliver rules that are base level rules that are applicable for everyone.  This is why we deliver only the core auth objects in our rules and not all.  A example is ME21N.
If you look at SU24 in an ECC6 system, ME21N has 4 auth objects set as check/maintain.  However, in the rules we only enable one of the object, M_BEST_BSA.  This is to prevent false negatives.
    3.  Sam is absolutely right that the delivered auth object settings for FB01 have a mistake.  The correct auth object should be F_BKPF_BUK and not F_BKPF_BEK.  This was a manual error on my part.  I've added this to a listing to correct in future versions of the rules.
    4.  Since late 2006, 4 updates have been made to the rules to correct known issues as well as expand the ruleset as needed.  See the sap notes below as well as posting Compliance Calibrator - Q2 2008 Rule Update from July 22.
    1083611 Compliance Calibrator Rule Update Q3 2007

    1035070 Compliance Calibrator Rule Update Q1 2007
1173980 Risk Analysis and Remediation Rule Update Q2 2008
    5.  SAP is constantly working to improve our rulesets as we know there are areas where the rules can be improved.  See my earlier post called Request for participants for an Access Control Rule mini-council from January 28, 2008.  A rule mini-council is in place and I welcome anyone who is interested in joining to contact me at the information provided in that post.
    6.  Finally, the document on the BPX location below has a good overview of how companies should review the rules and customize them to their control and risk environment:

  • Lock Inactive/Dormant users in SAP automatically

    Hi Guys,
We have a requirement to find out a program/report which will lock the inactive dialog users if the user has not logged on for 90 days in the SAP system. This will be implemented in child system.
Please advise if there is any standard program/report available in SAP to achieve this task or we need to go for a customized program.
The restriction is only on the logon date/no. of days since last logon>=90, user lock currently=0 and user validity=Active user.
Thanks a lot and have a nice day!!
    Ravi Pinjani.

    Ravi,
Please look into the profile parameter -
    login/password_max_idle_productive -
Specifies the maximum period for which a productive password (a password chosen by the user) remains valid if it is not used. After this period has expired, the password can no longer be used for authentication. The user administrator can reactivate password-based logon by assigning a new initial password. Permissible values: 0 – 24,000 (unit: days); Default value 0, that is, the check is deactivated Available after SAP NetWeaver 6.40
Your objective of preventing users from logging after 90days of inactivity can be handled easily by setting the value to 90 for this parameter. I don't think you need to reinvent the wheel for this by creating ABAP reports etc.

  • Installation/Dismanteling Equipments

    Hi PM Gurus,
I have a problem in installing and dismantling equipments.
Of my client's, only part of the material in the stores are treated as equipments. For them, the equipments are created at the GR stage. So in the inventory there are equipments and material not treated as equipments.
When it comes to maintenance, in the work order, both types of material exits (equipment and non equipments). At the issue stage the users cannot distinguish (practically) the two types of material. As a result of this they don't know which items to look for in order to install them in the Functional Locations.
The same problem is faced in a different form when receiving items to stores. When items are physically dismantled, users don't know whether they are treated as Equipments or not. Therefore they just receive the items back to stock through MIGO and it changes the status of the equipment to ESTO INST if it accidently becomes an equipment. The only way they can resolve this issue is by initially dismantling the Equipment from the Functional Location in SAP and then receiving in to stock. But to do this they need to recognize whether the item is an equipment or not. This is not practical with the large volumes.
Can any one help me on this .............
    Cheers
    Deepal

OK, I'll try to put it more clearly.
In my inventory I have material tracked as equipments as well as material not tracked as equipments.
When I place a PM Order for a maintenance task and enter material under components tab, it could include both the types of material (as mentioned above). Then I issue material from PM Order. All the equipments then have to be installed in the corresponding Functional Location by the user as an additional task because issuing material to PM Order does not do the installation part. To do this the user should know the equipments issued from stores. practically, the user who does the issue or execute the PM Order doesn't know (or can't remember) which material are tracked as Equipments out of all the material issued against the PM Order. So he need to do a tedious job of finding out the Equipments issued to the PM Order and then do the installation part in SAP.
what I'm asking is aren't there an easy way to handle this. Can't we do the installation automatically as and when the items are issued to PM Order?
    Cheers

  • Create Incident via CRM_UI, non-SAP components depending of sold-to-party

    Hello!
We are using CRM_UI on Solman 7.1 ( SPS 10 ) to create Incidents. On the 3'rd step there is option to select SAP Components or non-SAP Components if defined. We are using a lot of non-SAP components.
Is it possible to prevent users to choose all SAP component, only few of them depending of customer ( BP sold-to-party  )? Does it exist authorisation object for this?
    Thank's in advance!

  • No User SAP* after the creation of a new client

    Hello,
I made a system copy from PROD to DEV-System and upgraded the DEV-System to EHP7. Now I want to create a new customizing client but when I create the client in transaction SCC4 there is no user sap* on this client. I never thought this is possible.
I checked my profile and everythings seems to be fine. (login/no_automatic_user_sapstar = 0)
The client is in the table T000. I searched for any users in this client on SQL but there is no User:
Can you please help me with this issue?
    Thanks a lot and regards,
    Bernhard

    Hi Bernhard,
Parameter login/no_automatic_user_sapstar = 0 enables the SAP*(basically from SAP Kernel/hard-coded) for initial logon to the newly created client. Please do the client copy from 000/001 for super user (SAP* and DDIC) availability.
for further info please check this notes

  • How to configure letter of credit in SAP

    hi all,
how to configure letter of credits (LOC) in sap.
    regards
    srinivas

    Hi,
Letter of Credit / Bank Guarantee are noted items in SAP.  There is no effect in the books of accounts for these items.  You have to create seperate Spl G/L Indicator for LOC and assign the same to normal reconciliation account of Vendors / Customers as per your requirement. For creating this go to 'OBXT' and the necessary configuration.  To create LOC in SAP Easy Access goto F-55 and process the transaction.

  • SAP BC

    Hi All,
I am new to SAP Business Conneters... Tell me Difference between the XI and SAP BC.
    Thanks and Regrds
    Reddy

    Hi Reddy,
    <u><b>SAP BC:</b></u>
The SAP Business Connector is a middleware product based on webMethods’ B2B Integration Server. It allows you to integrate with R/3 using open and non proprietary technology. SAP BC uses the Internet as communication platform and XML/HTML as data format. Thus it seamlessly integrates different IT architectures with R/3.
SAP BC allows for full bi-directional communication to and from R/3. On the one hand all SAP functionality accessible using BAPIs and IDocs can be made available to business partners over the Internet as secure XML-based services. On the other hand applications and information running on a remote web site can be instantly invoked by a simple SAP function call thus making the information of the Web available to an R/3 System.
SAP BC provides an XML layer on top of R/3 functionality so that other applications do not need any understanding of R/3 internal data structures or protocols. You can deploy SAP BC to simply but effectively achieve business-to-business integration between trading partners, thereby extending the reach of your SAP infrastructure to customers, partners and suppliers. Examples for applications may include real-time integration between supplier inventories and your SAP System or multi-vendor product, price and availability information and your purchasing application.
For further Information on the same see <a href="http://www.sapgenie.com/mysap/bus_connector.htm">WHAT IS SAP BC ?</a>
    <u><b>
    SAP XI:</b></u>
SAP Exchange Infrastructure (XI) enables you to implement cross-system business processes. The aim of the Exchange Infrastructure is to integrate different versions of SAP and non-SAP systems implemented on different platforms (Java, ABAP, and so on). The Exchange Infrastructure is based on an open architecture, makes uses of open standards (in particular those from the XML and Java environments) and offers services that are essential in a heterogeneous and complex system landscape: Namely a runtime infrastructure for message exchange; configuration options for managing business processes and message flow; and options for transforming message contents between the sender and receiver systems.
For more information on the same see <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_srm30/helpdata/en/0f/80243b4a66ae0ce10000000a11402f/content.htm">SAP Exchange Infrastructure</a>

Thanks in advance, Points are assured.
    Aleem.

    >Can any one let me know how to get FPM functionality with minimum system disturbance. I dont think I can convince the company to upgrade to EHP 1 only for FPM. Any SAP note can provide the functionality ??
Sorry but for supported version of FPM, you must update to ERP 6.0 EnhP4 which contains NetWeaver 7.0 Enhancement Package 1.
There were some parts of FPM delivered on NetWeaver 7.0 Support Package 14 and higher, but the delivery is not complet nor are the configuration tools very user friendly.  Therefore the offical support only starts with NetWeaver 7.01.
We can't provide large pieces of new functionality via SAPNotes.  That is why we have Enhancement Packages - to have a delivery mechanism for new functionality without having to go through a full upgrade.  If we put something as big as the FPM framework into a SAP Note, the note would effectively become an Enhancement Package.
