Do you mean you want to create product group in mass?
You can use BAPI BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA to create product group with material type as PROD. And you can use FM PRODUCTGROUP_CHANGE for product group material assignment MC86.

Automatic Product Group Creation.

I'm wondering if I can create Product Groups automatically. My problem is that I have 110 Product groups in Excel and they are assigned to 2500 materials. Now I want to move to have those product groups in SAP. Creating "PROD" material and then assigning them in MC86 is painfull.
Is it possible to do it with LSMW or someting like that? If yes please provide step by step tutorial.

Report for list of Product groups

Hi,
I wanted to have complete list of all the product groups (created thro MC84) and its members in one report.
Is there any standard report avl in SAP.

Error When Submitting WIP Mass load Concurrent Program (Work in Process)

Hi,
I am submitting WIP Mass Load concurrent program to get the data from WIP_JOB_SCHEDULE_INTERFACE table in to base tables.
The concurrent program is completed with Warning status.
My Package inserts the data into wip_job_schedule_interface table to create a WIP Job. After inserting the data in to wip_job_schedule_interface table, it submits a concurrent program (WIP Mass Load) (Standard concurrent program) to create a WIP job automatically from the data inserted into wip_job_schedule_interface table.
This concurrent is errored out with the following warning message:

If it is locked, you cannot extend the Purchasing view or the Sales view. If either of these views needs to be extended, the material must first be unlocked. This can be done only by a user with special authorization. Contact your system administrator.

Error while creating Product Group in SOP

HI Gurus,
When I am trying to create the product group in SOP in MC84 , I get follwoing error.
"Product group cannot be created (batch input error 7) Message no. MA218"
how to slove this?

Rajiv,
Basically if there are mismatch in the Field selection and fields visible in MC84 you would get this error.
The workaround suggested by SAP is to create a product group using MM01 with material type PROD, latter on using the change product group transaction MC86 you can assign its members.

Error while creating the product group by MC84

Hello Friends,
I am creating the product group by MC84, and in product group field i have given the product group name i.e P2345, and its description i.e product group for waluj, plant i.e cw01 and Base unit i.e KG.Now when i press enter system is throwing the error"The field is defined as the required field;it doesnot contain an entry."Message no.MG144.And with this error system is placing the cursor on product group field.As i have already given product group name than also system is throwing the error.
Though i know the alternative method to create product group by MMO1 and selecting the material type PROD, then also i want to know why system is throwing the error while creating the product group by MC84.
Please guide.

This message says that you have not entered a mandatory field.Enter proper values for all mandatory fields and then you will not get this error.
Try to create the product group as material of material type"PROD"
Then you go on adding the memebers in SOP Transaction.
In some of the versions of SAP it is the problem.
I have also faced this problem in some versions.

Hi,
Check mandatory field and sales and purchase view in material master.
Please check authorization for it aslo.
Go to tcode OMSFIX and un check if any field is checked for lock relevant.
this will open the field in MM01 and you can see the required field,
You can unlock the material in transaction MM02 (You will find "Unlock" icon in the application tool-bar).

I am being Unable to create a product group at new , although I have done it and run at other client.Also Please let me know the Views to select. As per My knowledge I have selected only 05 views , basic, MRP-1,2,3,4.... Need not to select the accounting and costing views. System says error message that u dont have requireed field parameter.Although I am able to create the same through MMZ1

Hi,Just check in OMSR, The 'Field sel. group' for MARC-PRCTR get the Field sel. group(default is 48), In OMS9 check for MM01, MM02, ROH ,FERT, this field is mandatory, if it is mandatory then you have to maintain the profit center, you can try with making it optional, but this field is made mandatory with some purpose so better to ask your FI for proper profit center for raw material & maintain it in either costing view or Plant data storage 2 view & then proceed further.

How to assign a Sales Org and Product group

all the config have been maintained (creating the hierarchies/categories, assign the set types to categories etc.) under IMG->Cross-Application Components->SAP Product.
Also assigned the set type for sales data/product group for category MAT_DIEN.
But the fields from these section are greyed out when I try creating a product (not able to assign the sales org, or product group)

Dear Sun,
One way is:
Maintain the required setting in T. Code: VKOA.
Another way is:
Create an Internal Order (T. Code: KO01) with required Field-entries in
Tab: Assignment --> Profit Center; and
Tab: Period-end Closing --> Cost Center ( or G/L account).
and attach it to your Sales Order.

How to map Product Group for the Materials in BW.

Hi All,
We have an requirement for one of the report called as Progress validation Report.
We have to craete thsi repotr which would pulll out Inventory value, Production Plan value, Total Lates, Current week deliveries and WIP for a quarter.
Cube whihc provides details about production plan has data by Material, plant and product group wise.
But rest of the cube from which we extract the key figures does not have data by Product grop wise.
Product group is been picked from PGMI table in R/3.
How I can related the materials which are in other cube to the respective Product group.
Material and the relevant prdoct group data doesnot flows in BW.
There is even a scenario where ahve seen a material falls under 2 product groups..
PLease guide as how i can realted already existing materials in the Cube to the product group.

Hi,
Product Group is master data for material master. It is part of Matreial Clssification data in R/3.
Please check if you are having the same already loaded as attribute of Material master. I guess it will be there, if it s not there then you should try to load the same in material master object which you are using in all the cubes.
If the maintinenece in master data is nopt possible then you got to populate the same in cube.
There will be a combination of keys (materail/plant/prduct family etc.. ( for which Product group will be unique). then load product with the help of these key combinations in all the cubes via update routine.
There is one more way to have this but which is performance intensive.
You may create one master data object called Product Group and keep material number as attribute (with compunding all other key fileds to get the unique combination). Then you may create an infoset using cubes and this master data object. Join the materail numbers in all. Display this object in report.
