SAP Product Lifecycle Costing
I came across ASAG presentation by the title "An Introduction into SAP’s Upcoming Product Costing Solution" from June 2014. Does anyone know what SAP roadmap for this solution looks like? Any information on when it becomes available?
Thank you,
Alex
Hi Alex,
I will reply to your mail.
The solution is planned to be available next year and is currently in the midst of development. We are not disclosing any further details beyond the ASUG presentation at this point to a broader audience.
Regards, Ulf.

Hi gurus,
I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I'm PP consultant and just starting a new projec on which the most important topics are production and costs so here are my questions.
1.- What is the responsability of the PP consultant regarding production costs, order costs, product costing etc?
2.- Can someone explain the integration of PP and CO.
3.- In my client company I see this scenario: it is a consumable goods manufactory industry and they buy cinnamon but they only make a huge one purchase a year, only in january they buy the cinnamon and it lasts for all year, so on that particular month they have to pay for the hole freight of the cinnamon, the product that uses the cinnamon does not reflect the real costs since the whole freight is taken at january, then in february they have excellent results since they produce the same qty but with less costs.
This is a common problem here, because there are like 5 raw materils that are bought in this way, so how to reflect a proportion of the cost while consuming the raw material? and the question also would be if I as PP consultant should do that or is it CO stuff.
Thanks experts I hope you can help me with this, I would really appreciateDear standard values and activity types relevant to cost centers are defined in work centers(CR01) which are assigned in
particular material routings(CA01) and activity rates are maintained in KP26.

Which SAP products would address these issues
Dear All,
We have implemented ECC 5.0 version of SAP in feb 2006, we are evaluating Hyperion for the undermentioned management requirements
1) Business Planning
2) Balance Scorecard
3) KPI Reporting and Strategic management
4) MIS Reports ( yeraly/halfyearly/Quarterly/monthly/ daily)
5) Profitability Analysis & Simulation
We are in talks with SAP implementation partners also , but we are not sure how SAP currently fulfills all the above requirements ?
In ECC 5.0 we have licenses for BIW 3.5 and SEM, the doubts are
1) Which has better product features SAP products or Hyperion ?
2) Which is the most cost effective solution especially for us since 95% of our data is in SAP ECC 5.0 ?
3) Which additional Licenses we will have to buy to get the best features ?
4) What hardware requirements will have to be fulfilled for above management requirements. ?
Detailed answers are welcome.
Regards
Milind NairSSM for the balanced scorecard
BPC for high-level, top-down planning and mutli-year projections
PCM for accurate, bottom-up operational cost and profitability managment, also for simulation of cost changes, activity / quantity changes and impact on product, customer or segment profitability
They are all part of SAP's latest EPM suite -

Change in finished product inventories / cost components
Hello,
We are in the process of implementing SAP and couldn't get an answer to the following.
Our understanding is that the production cost of each finished product is calculated by SAP based on cost components. After manufacturing, the finished products are transferred to the finished product inventory. The change in finished product inventory account (say 713000) is credited with the production cost of the product.
Instead of having this single 713000 account impacted, we would like to have the change in finished product inventory broken down into several, say 713001 raw material component in finished product, 713002 labour cost component in finished product, 713003 subcontracting cost component etc. Can we get SAP to credit automatically each of these accounts based on the cost component (or group of cost components) information in the system ? How should we configure it ? (is there a link between the cost component or group of cost component and the account)
Many thanks for your help
Best regardsHi Vincent,
In my understanding you are not clear with the requirement and therefore you are struggling with SAP. Please understand the following:
1. The posting of GL accounts are determined by valuation class in material master. So if you want to post on different GLs please define those many valuation class in MM and assign the correct Valuation class to FG goods.
2. When you confirm the production, SAP post the goods issue (i.e. material you define in BOM) by debiting the Material consumption account and credit the invertory accounts. And also post the goods receipt posting by debiting the FG inventory account and credit the Factory output a/c.
3. Here you have to convience your client that it is best pratice to have one inventory account for one material type, like RM inventory, SFG inventory and FG inventory. Normally we classify the consumption posting in different GLs like Material consumption, Labour consuption, Overhead utilization etc. and that you can define in your cost component structure by grouping the relevent GLs in given cost component items.
4. You have to explain them how SAP works in product costing and how GL documents are posted. You have to also explain them the posting impact in P&L and BS.
I will suggest that you should rediscuss the requirement and explain them the SAP way of valuation and posting. It is a big change management issue and as a CO consultant it is most challenging task.
Thanks and all the best,

Product cost v/s Production Order cost
Hi all Guru's,
Can any one help me in understanding difference between product cost and production order cost in SAP.
Will give full marks for helpful answer.
Thanks,
Abhishek
Edited by: ABHISHEK AGRAWAL on Jan 29, 2008 9:46 AMDear Abhishek,
Standard Cost Estimate or Material cost Estimate is nothing
but the standard cost for the Inhouse Manufactured materials
(FERT) = Raw Materials Cost + Activity(Operation Cost)
Cost+Overhead Cost if maintained for the Company code.
This cost will gets stamped in the material master in Costing2
view,under Current Planned Price field.
This cost will be the Planned Cost of the Production order and
after confirmation of the order the actual cost and the variances
for the production order can be viewed.
So the Production order cost is for the order quantity say for
Eg: for a quantity of 100.
The cost(variance) will be settled against that production order
after confirmation and TECO status.
I hope this will be helping you.

Regarding products, those are not created in the cloud. In regards to what data is unidirectional versus bi-directional the discussion normally focuses on who owns the data. Products aren't owned by the sales or service teams, they are normally owned by a master data function. Products are unidrectional from ERP to Cloud for customer. Review our golden deck, listed in the how-to guide blog to understand what data is integrated.

Product cost or Product unit cost
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is any standard content for product cost or Product unit cost? Please let me know. I don't know under which area this belongs to ie SD, MM....etc.
thanks
Sabrina.Hi Sabrina,
You can evaluate CO-PC datasources in your R/3 system and the corresponding sources, objects etc. in BC.
Also you may look at Product Cost Controlling Analyses at BI best practice:

Production order cost estimate
Hello,
what is prodcution order cost estimate.SR,
Production order cost estimate is the estimate of all the costs likey to be incurred on the completion of the production oreder.
Following is the way described how tp do this in SAP.
Creating a Cost Estimate for a Production Order Without Quantity Structure
Choose Accounting-> Controlling->Cost Object Controlling->Product Cost by Period->Planning->CO Production Order->Create/change plan.
Enter the order and choose ENTER.
The dialog box Copy cost estimate appears. The system proposes a costing variant through the planning profile. Choose a costing variant.
If you want to copy costing items using the reference and simulation costing functions, enter either a base planning object or the material and control parameters for a cost estimate without quantity structure.
Enter the lot size that you want to use for costing, and choose ENTER.
The system displays the list screen of the cost estimate without quantity structure.
Enter the costing items.
Save the cost estimate.
If you have entered a costing sheet and (if applicable) an overhead key in the master record of the production order, the system calculates the overhead and assigns it to costing items of item category G. You cannot plan the costs for a production order using a cost estimate without quantity structure if the production order is linked to a run schedule header.
Hope this helps you.
Rgds

Hi all,
I wish to get a list of productlife cycle profiles maintained for various products in DP. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
MNairDP offers multiple ways to do Product lifecycle most of which fall under the realm of Lifecycle profiles. there are phase-in profiles to ramp-up a product based on predefined fashion. In the same vein, there are phase-out profiles to do ramp-down of a product based on a predefined fashion. you can use Like-profiles to imitate the history of some other product. there are also ways of using weighting profile to give certain weightages to points of history. help.sap does explain this in detail. not sure if your Q was answered. PLM per se is a different module in SAP which you can also explore for your requirement.

Reg :Production order cost report day wise.
Dear Expert,
1.We want a report for a particular Production order cost day wise.
The scenario is like this Production order is Released for 100 Qty.
Today they confirmed only 50 Qty.
Tomorrow they will confirm 50 qty.
Now they want to see the cost for today confirmation and tomorrows confirmation.
Reason being daily the Raw Material cost is changed and they want to track the variance.
Is there any standard report we can achieve this or do we have go for development
2. And also i need to know daily how many production orders have been released.
Thank u in advance.A day is not a controlled cost object. You could write a report to look at costs gathered in a day (by reporting date), but I strongly suggest that if you need to analyze costs per day you switch to daily orders.
You'll find then that all the standard processes work for you. -

How do I know if I can install a JAVA component on a SAP product ?
Dear SAP,
I have a generic question.
I need to know if a JAVA Component can be installed in a system.
Let's take an example :
==> There is EP Core Java Component.
==> My question : May I install this JAVA Software Component EP Core in a SAP SRM 7.0 / NW 7.01 system ?
I know there is http://service.sap.com/scl link which explain the content of each SAP Product and SAP Software Component.
But how do I know if a specifif JAVA Component (example EP Core, SAP MDM Server, ...) can be installed on each SAP AS-JAVA ?
Best regards
CP2009Dear CP2009
This information is stated in guides but a quick trick can be the following
Go to [https://service.sap.com/sp-stacks] and click on "sp stack download" in the left pane menu.
Then select your product version on right pane for example SP Stack SAP SRM 7.0
This will open a popup window
Fill in start stack and target stack (can be whatever in this case, it's just to check what usage types are available)
On one of the next screen you will have to choose which usage types are installed.
From that screen I can derive that for product "Portal Content SRM" or "SRM Supplier Java" you need component EP Core.
Kind regards
Tom
