SAP UI 5 - Updating UI From Controller

Hi Everyone,
I am extremely new to Sap UI 5 and JavaScript. In the interest of full disclosure web development in general and are grateful for any assistance you may provide. I am looking for a solution to update the UI from my controller. I am able to create the Bar Chart(with no data) and gather the data from my XSJS service without issue but as my Bar Chart gets rendered before my data is obtained I am unsure how to display the received data on the Bar Chart from my controller.
I know this is probably a very basic question but I have tried solutions provided in both tutorials and previously answered discussion questions to no avail.
I have included the what I believe to be the necessities of my code below.
I have a Shell as follows
createContent : function(oController) {
sap.ui.jsview("views.bonusPlanIndex", {
     getControllerName : function() {
          //return "bonusPlanIndex";
          return null;
     createContent : function(oController) {
          var oBonusPlans = sap.ui.view({id:"viewbonusplans", viewName:"views.bonusPlans", type:sap.ui.core.mvc.ViewType.JS});
          var oShell = new sap.ui.ux3.Shell("myShell", {
               appTitle: "Bonus Plan Management",
               appIcon: "",
               appIconTooltip: "",
               showLogoutButton: false,
               showSearchTool: false,
               showInspectorTool: false,
               showFeederTool: false,
               content:oBonusPlans,
               worksetItems: [new sap.ui.ux3.NavigationItem("NB_bonusplans",{key:"nb_bonusplans",text:"Bonus Plans", subItems:[
                                   new sap.ui.ux3.NavigationItem("NB_1_1",{key:"nb_1_1",text:"View Bonus Plans"}),
                                 new sap.ui.ux3.NavigationItem("NB_1_2",{key:"nb_1_2",text:"Add Bonus Plan"})]})
               worksetItemSelected: function(oEvent){
                    var sId = oEvent.getParameter("id");
                    var oShell = oEvent.oSource;
                    switch (sId) {
                    case "NB_bonusplans":
                         oShell.setContent(oBonusPlans);
                         break;
                    case "NB_1_1":
                         sap.ui.getCore().getControl("viewbonusplans").getController().getBonusPlanWAjax();
                         oShell.setContent(oBonusPlans);
                         break;
                    case "NB_1_2":
                         oShell.setContent(null);
                    default:
                         break;
          return oShell;
I have a view which creates a bar chart similar to the Bar Chart created in http://scn.sap.com/community/developer-center/cloud-platform/blog/2013/10/17/8-easy-steps-to-develop-an-xs-application-on-the-sap-hana-cloud-platform.
createContent : function(oController) {
                        oController.getBonusPlanWAjax();
                    var bonusPlanBarChart = new sap.viz.ui5.Bar("bonusPlanBarChart", {
                              width : "50%",
                              height : "50%",
                              xAxis: {
                                        title: { visible: true, text : "EUR" }
                              title : {
                                        visible : true,
                                        text : 'Bonus Plans'
                              interaction: new sap.viz.ui5.types.controller.Interaction(
                                                                                selectability: new sap.viz.ui5.types.controller.Interaction_selectability(
                                                                       mode: sap.viz.ui5.types.controller.Interaction_selectability_mode.single
                              dataset : bonusPlanDataset= new sap.viz.ui5.data.FlattenedDataset({
                                        // a Bar Chart requires exactly one dimension (x-axis)
                                        dimensions : [ {
                                                  axis : 1, // must be one for the x-axis, 2 for y-axis
                                                  name : 'Names',
                                                  value : "{bonusPlans>/empName}"
                                        // it can show multiple measures, each results in a new set of bars
                                        // in a new color
                                        measures : [
                                                  name : 'Income', // 'name' is used as label in the Legend
                                                  value : '{bonusPlans>/bonusAmount}' // 'value' defines the binding for the
                                                  name : 'Bonus Amount', // 'name' is used as label in the Legend
                                                  value : '{bonusPlans>/totalAmount}' // 'value' defines the binding for the
                                        // 'data' is used to bind the whole data collection that is to be
                                        // displayed in the chart
                                        data : {
                                                  path : "/"
                    return bonusPlanBarChart;
I also have a corresponding controller that uses Ajax to call an XSJS service.
getBonusPlanWAjax: function(){
          jQuery.ajax({
               url : "services/calculatedBonusPlanService.xsjs",
               type : 'GET',
               dataType:"json",
               success : function(data) {
                    //var mResult = sap.ui.getCore().byId("bonusPlanBarChart");
                    var oModel = new sap.ui.model.json.JSONModel();
                    oModel.setData(data);
                    sap.ui.getCore().setModel(oModel, "bonusPlans");
               error : function(jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown) {
                    // TODO improve error handling
                    sap.ui.commons.MessageBox.alert("Failed to retrieve data: " + textStatus+ "\n" + errorThrown);
If you require anything else, please don't hesitate to ask.
Thank you for your time,
Keith.

I resolved this using a Model that was declared globally. I set this model to my bar chart and then any updates I made to said Model in my controller (Or anywhere else) would be reflected in my View's Bar-chart.
This same approach is used in the SHINE application. You can find examples in the Details View/Controller. In the global.js file you will find the global model. Also check the poWorkList.html (Or other html files) to see how this global.js file is made available.

  • Extracting updated data from SAP R/3 to BOBJ DS

    Hi all,
    I have a doubt reg extracting updated data from SAP to BOBJ DS. For example i am extracting 50000 records from SAP table to BOBJ DS say its taking half an hour, after extracting data 10 more records have added in the same table. Do we need extract the whole record again or do we have some other way to extract only those 10 records from table.
    Please help me.  I have searched in forums but cudnt find the exact solution fyi.
    Thanks,
    Guna

    Apart from stepd 1,2, you need to create a Target Data store and a table to load your MARA data.
    3. Now the MARA data will be available in data store(DS_ERP), say table name as BO_MARA
      Why do you want to change the table name? Are you planning to stage the data anywhere?
    4. Create a dataflow source as BO_MARA, query transform and destination as a table
    Data transport object is required if you are using R/3 Data Flow.
    This would suffice just for a full load, if all your transformations can be incorporated inside the Query transform.
    5. Do Transformation.
    6. Transformed data will be available in target table.
    Only after executing the job that the transformed "data" will be available in the target.
    The above part mentions only about a Source, Query transform, Source Data Store and table.
    Apart from these
    You would require a Script object to write the condition, to SELECT the MAX timestamps. You would require Variables to be created in your job to redirect your job path and to restrict the data extracted.
    Use your DataFlow in a Conditional object. If load type is first, in the then part use the dataflow which you might have already designed. Else part will have a replicated Data Flow with the above mentioned WHERE condtion in Query transform.
    Suggest you to refer Desiger document and DI supplement for SAP as well. Inform if you are stuck.

  • Textfield upates from controller but when put into column no longer updates

    This textfield is updated by my controller triggered by an event elsewhere
    var oTotalMonday2 = new sap.ui.commons.TextField({
    id : "oTotalMonday2",
    "text" : '0',
    width : "20px"
    var oHL = new sap.ui.layout.HorizontalLayout({
    content : [ oTotalMonday2]
    aControls.push(oHL);
    this is the method in the controller that updates it
    handlePressMonday: function(){
    var oTable = sap.ui.getCore().byId('entriesTab');
        var nRows= oTable.getBinding("rows").getLength();
        var nSum= 0;
        for(var i=0;i<nRows;i++){
        var oContext= oTable.getContextByIndex(i);
        nSum+= parseFloat(oContext.getProperty("monday"));
        var oLabel= sap.ui.getCore().byId("oTotalMonday2");
        oLabel.setText(nSum);
    But when I put the exact same code for the text in a column for my table
    oTable4.addColumn(new sap.ui.table.Column({
    label : new sap.ui.commons.Label({
    text : "Monday"
    template : oTotalMonday2,
    sortProperty : "monday",
    filterProperty : "monday",
    width : "60px"
    nothing happens, doesn't update the value, I don't understand why doesn't it work when its in a column? But works fine it's standalone in a horizontal layout

    Hi Stam
    You are creating a template in a column hence
    var oLabel= sap.ui.getCore().byId("oTotalMonday2");
    will not work.
    Maybe you can briefly explain what you wish to do and we can help.
    Thanks

  • RNOTIFUPDATE01 - SAP Status not updated from Service Desk msgs

    Hi Folks,
    Already for some days we're facing the issue that SAP status of Solution Manager msgs that are sent to SAP is not updated in the SolMan itself.
    So, if a msg is send to SAP, and SAP made an update and changed their status to 'Customer Action' or 'Solution Provided', the status in SolMan is still 'Sent to SAP'. Only at the marketplace we're able to see the real status.
    The job RNOTIFUPDATE01 runs successfully every hour, no errors listed.
    However when I run the job manually in SE38, i get a message like:
    9999017765 012005041000000066052008 Read/Update Error
    9999017765 012005041000000066052008 Locked, Entry in DNOD_UPDATE Successful
    Searching for these errors in the notes, gave me some results, but unfortunately these corrections are already in our system.
    Our patch level is SAPKA70015, SAPKB70015 and SAPKITL426.
    I'm not 100% sure, but I think that it is related to installation number, as some msgs are updated and other aren't.
    Does any of you has an idea?
    Thanks a lot for your help folks!
    Roel

    Hello Roel,
    The update of the status in the Solution Manager service desk document (usually SLFN), to match the SAP one, is managed by the method AISDK_SP_CHECK_DNO. To configure this, do as follows:
    - Execute transaction SPPFC, selecting the Application DNO_NOTIF
    - Open the action profile SLFN0001_STANDARD_DNO (or the one you created as a copy)
    - Open the action definition SLFN0001_STANDARD_DNO_CHECK (or the one you created as a copy)
    - Under "Processing Types", check if the method AISDK_SP_CHECK_DNO is set (if not, set it as the method to be called)
    - Check the method parameters:
    USER_STATUS1 is the status that was set BEFORE SAP answers
    USER_STATUS2 is the status that will be set WHEN SAP answers (this is the one you should modify)
    Save everything and test.
    Please let me know if this works for you.
    Best Regards,
    Cristiano Canzone

  • Error while updating data from DataStore object

    Hi,
    Currently we are upgrading BW3.5 to BI7.0 for technical only,
    we found and errors during process chain run in further processing step. This step is basically a delta loading from DSO to Cube.
    The error message are:
    Error while updating data from DataStore object 0GLS_INV
    Message no. RSMPC146
    Job terminated in source system --> Request set to red
    Message no. RSM078
    That's all no further errors message can be explained clearly here from system.
    I have applied SAP note 1152453 and reactivate the datasource, infosource, and data target.
    Still no help here!?
    Please advise if you encountered these errors before.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Error while copy of Update Rules from ODS 0SD_O03 to InfoCube 0SD_C13

    Hi all,
    I work on a NW04s SPS9 System I would like to simply copy Update Rules (from an ODS to an InfoCube) from the BCT to the 1:1 Z-Copies of these Objects.
    To do so, I copied the InfoProviders 0SD_O03 and 0SD_C13 to Z-Versions. In SAP BCT the InfoCube is updated from the ODS. The ODS itself is updated from InfoSource.
    After successfully copying the two InfoProviders as next step I tried to copy the Update Rules from the Content version Objects to the Z-Version Objects to link them.
    Similar to copying update rules in 3.5 I tried
    - right click on "ZSD_C13"
    - choose Additional Functions - Create Update Rules"
    - choose DataSource: ODS Object "ZSD_O03"
    - choose Copy from: InfoCube "0SD_C13"
    This result in the error "0SD_C13 is not suitable as a template for copying update rules".
    Some hints that might help:
    1. The very same error occurs if I try to copy the Update Rules from 0SD_O03 to 0SD_C13.
    2. I also tried to copy both Update Rules (to C12 & C13) on a BW 3.5 system where it worked fine: The update rules from both Z-ODSs to both Z-Cubes were copied correctly 1:1 and without any errors.
    3. In the NW04s System I was able to copy the Update Rules from the InfoSource 2LIS_11_VAITM to 0SD_O01 (as well as from 2LIS_11_VAHDR to ODS 0SD_O03). So I only cannot copy Update Rules from ODSs to InfoCubes while it is possible to copy Update Rules from InfoSources to ODSs.
    4. During copy of 0SD_O03 the system warned: "InfoObject 0FISCVARNT needs to be in key for DataStore object ZSD_O03". No matter whether I move this IO to the keys of the Z-ODS, the Update Rules copy does not work.
    - This warning does not show up on BW3.5 when I copy the very same ODS. Can anyone explain this?
    - This warning is not displayed during the copy of ODS 0SD_O01, just for 0SD_O03.
    5. Obviously during a preceding test I actually must have been able to copy the Update Rules for another copy of 0SD_C13 (as I can see the Update Rules in the SAPGUI). I stopped this first test as I was not able to do the Update Rules copy for 0SD_C12.
    Yet as of today I cannot copy Update Rules this for both cubes 0SD_C13 as well as 0SD_C12. So yesterday there was no error on copying the Update Rules to InfoCube ZSD_C13, but today there is. To my knowledge nothing has been changed in the System Setup / Customizing in the mean time.
    6. For both cubes ZSD_C13 as well as ZSD_C12 it is possible to copy Update Rules that map from the BCT ODS to the Z-InfoCbes. So I can copy Update Rules from 0SD_O03 to ZSD_C13 and from 0SD_O01 to ZSD_C12. This would point in the direction that the copied ODSes are the source of this behavior?
    I am not sure whether this is a special NW04s behavior and how to use it correctly so the Update Rules can be copied.
    Please could you help on how to copy these Update Rules in NW04s or share your experience if you had similar?
    Thanks a lot,
    Werner

    Hi Vinod,
    Check the update rules for the original cube. Are they active? It appears that they contain a formula...check this too.
    Hope this helps...

  • How  and where does SAP standard programs update the master tables...

    Hello there,
    How  and where does SAP standard programs update the master tables...
    to be precise.. if a (any) transaction occurs  the programs behind it holds the data in temporary structures.
    where and when does it get updated in the master table.
    can anyone tell me how it happens?
    I Know that from the where used list one can find the corresponding table but most of the time it wont suffice
    I am expecting a proper answer.
    Santosh B

    Hello Santosh,
    you need to do some self-reading on the following topic
    Updates in the SAP System (BC-CST-UP)
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/e5/de86e135cd11d3acb00000e83539c3/frameset.htm

  • "Update for raid controller firmware" in availabel system upgrade does not go away after upgrade

    We have two Ironport WSA, one S360 and one S370. Both stil have the "Update for raid controller firmware" still listed in "Available upgrades" even though we have done the update and rebooted the appliances.
    How can we confirm that the update is applied?
    If it is and the notice is still there how do we get rid of the reminder?

    Go to the command line of the appliacne and run "version"
    That will show you the current version of the firmware.
    If you have record of what was there, you can compare...
    Otherwise contact TAC, they can verify that you have the up-to-date version and pull your serial from the distribution list so you don't see it any more.

    Hi Rolland,
    As you told is right, there was a problem in the password,
    we changed that password and we have tested the DB connection in db59, this was ok. and we ran the command user_sap SAPLCA,<password>
    this was ok.
    After the registration has been succefully from LC10 ..
    Thanks for your inputs,

  • Can I restore SAP GUI patch level 5 from Patch level 7

    Hi,
    I updated SAP GUI 710 from patch level 5 to level 7, is it possible to revert this change to patch level 5 again, as our business requirement is only patch level 5.
    How to restore it back?
    Also, what changes made by SAP in patch level 7 from 5, 3 etc?
    Thanks

    Hi Martin
    Thanks for answering my queries.
    Reason for going back to patch 5 is to maintain all client of production system at one level.
    Certainly using higer patch level will also includes all functionalities of lower level.
    But, did someone try to load patch 5 on patch 7, does it work?
    Becoz, I am in production, so not in very good position to take this risk.
    What you ppl say?
    There should be some way to restore your GUI to back date, is it!, like one we do to restore our windows machine.
