  • ECC upgrade and integration models

    Experts,
We are upgrading our R3 system from 4.7 to ECC 6.0.  We currently use SCM 5.1.  During the upgrade from SCM 4.0 to 5.1, we had to do a re-initial transfer of our PDS integration models and a full curto_create, because the PDS tables had changed so much.
Is there a similar concern with an upgrade of R3 4.7 to ECC 6.0?  Should I be doing a re-initial transfer of my integration models after the new ECC 6.0 system is built and released?
    Thanks,
    Matthew Bruckner

    Hi Mathew,
Thanks for input. We are going for upgrade from SCM 4.1 to 7.0.
I never been upgrade of ECC. I think it is always better to do the initial transfer after upgrade.
Any way initial transfer will not create any issues.
Also check T.code SPAU to know the modification in the upgrade system from your old version.
    I hope this helps.

  • SAP Upgrade and Patches??

    Hello guys,
I am a total newbie in SAP. I have a potentially naive question.
Do I need to pay to upgrade my SAP platform? For example, upgrade from SAP 6.2 to SAP 6.4? Roughly how much I will need to pay and roughly how long it takes?
How about patches? Do I need to pay to get patches (support packages)?
Please enlighten me. I will r- you.
    Thanks and best regards,

    Hi,
First of all read the Rules of Engagement.
Reagarding your question I can say that if you will be using IDES version then you do not have to pay anything, you just have to download components from SMP for that you will need ID. Ask your Admin to generate it for you and also the download access.
You also have to generate SSCR key from SMP.
The service packs & patches are provided by SAP to its customers. That also you can download fro SMP.
    Thanks,

  • Can we do oracle 11g software installation in parallel to SAP upgrade

    Hi Basis Expert,
I need your inputs for one of this query
The query is. Can we do oracle 11g software installation in parallel to SAP upgrade when the system is in Downtime phase.
The idea is running SAP upgrade and in parallel running oracle 11g software installation. So that we can reduced the time.
    Please share your valuable inputs.
    Regards,
    Anil Shenoy.

    yes, of course.
using different environment during the installation of the new engine, you could install the new oracle home 11 also tomorrow (including the SBP).
infact, before the ./RUNINSTALLER you have to set the environment
    setenv ORACLE_HOME /oracle/SID/112_64
    setenv ORACLE_HOME_SRC /oracle/SID/102_64
    setenv ORACLE_HOME_TGT /oracle/SID/11202
    setenv  LIBPATH $ORACLE_HOME/lib:$LIBPATH
    setenv PATH /oracle/SID/112_64/bin: $PATH

  • ALV GRID  and Integrated ITS 7 (SAP GUI for HTML) - dissapears on reload

    Hi All,
We have a custom report that uses an ALV grid to display information to the user. Within this grid, there are fields that are display only and fields that are editable. Also, the grid is wider than the screen's width. It works fine in ECC. It also worked fine when we were using ITS 6.4.
We have recently upgraded to ITS 7. Now when we run the report using a Transaction iView (in EP 7) or the Webgui service (SAP GUI for HTML), if a field that is editable has focus when an event is triggered that reloads the grid, the screen becomes blank. So, you can click the Save button and the screen goes blank, also, there are date fields in the grid and if you choose a new date, the grid reloads and the screen becomes blank.
We have found that when the screen is blank, you can use the "Page Up" button on your keyboard and the last few columns of the grid will appear. As if the entire grid has moved off-screen to the left.
If you click onto a non-editable field and refresh or save, the grid returns to its normal state.
We are on Basis Patch level 15.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
Also, does anyone know of a standard SAP transaction we can call from the Webgui that would have a similar setup...with an ALV grid containing editable and non-editable fields? We would like to rule out any errors in the report itself. Since it worked before we upgraded and it works fine in ECC. This would be a really big help too.
    Thank you so much!
    -Kevin

    Hi,
Thanks Raymond, I have seen Note 314568. I could not get the second link to work but I have looked at just about every Note in reference to Integrated ITS 7 and Tables or ALV Grids and there are very many, so it would appear that SAP has had a hard time with implementing this control, but I have not seen any instance that matches the problem we are having.
Unfortunately, SAP will not investigate this unless we can provide a standard Transaction that exhibits the same behavior.
If anyone knows of a standard SAP Transaction that displays an ALV Grid that is wider than the screen (requiring a horizontal scroll bar) and with editable and non-editable fields, that would be fantastic. If we can test against that, then we would know for sure if this is a problem with ITS / SAP GUI for HTML, or if there is an issue with this specific report.
    Thanks!

  • Questions on SAP BI and SharePoint integration

    Hi all,
I was looking into how we can integrate SAP BI with our SharePoint server.
Does anyone has got exposure to this type of integration? Is there anyway that we can achieve this integration using SAP Business Objects or Performance Points?
    Please advise.
    Thanks
    Kukku

    Hi all,
We would like to get some thoughts on SharePoint integration with SAP BI.Could you please help us in solving the following questions:
    1. Which one is better? SharePoint integration through PerformancePoint Server 2007 or SAP Business Objects(SAP BO XI integration kit)?
    2. What are the starting point(system requirements)  to develop a prototype on both the methods?
I was able to find some info on both PPS and SAP Business Objects from the above link and also from sdn documents(those were really helpful, thanks!) but none of them provide some detailed insight into which one to opt for or how you can goahead. If someone has got more info on this please let us know.

  • Combined Upgrade and Unicode conversion of Sap 4.6C to ECC6.0

    Hello all,
my project team intends to carry out a combined upgrade and unicode conversion of an SAP ERP 4.6C system with MDMP to ECC6.0 (no enhancement package). The system is running on Oracle 10.2.
In preparation for this upgrade, I have gone through the SAP notes 928729, 54801.
We need to get a rough estimate of the entire downtime so as to alert our end users. From the CU&UC documentation in 928729, I read up note 857081. However the program in this note cannot be used to estimate the downtime as my system is < SAP netweaver 6.20.
Is there any other SAP note or tool or program that I can use to estimate the downtime for the entire CU&UC? Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
Combined upgrade depend upon number of factors like database size, resources on the server and optimization. In order to get idea of how much downtime, it will take, I would suggest you to do combined upgrade and unicode conversion on sandbox system which should be the replica of your production system. And try to optimize it. From there you can get approx. downtime required.
Also, please read combined upgrade and unicode conversion guides on  http://service.sap.com/unicode@sap
    Thanks

  • What technical components are needed for integration of SAP BI and BO?

    Hello,
What technical components are needed for integration of SAP BI and BO?

    Hi,
you need to setup a BOBJ server (eg. BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 or BO Edge 3.1) and then install the BusinessObjects integration Kit for SAP on the same machine your BOBJ server runs.
In order to build reports you can either use Crystal Reports (eg Install Crystal Report Designer 2008 V1 if you have an XI 3.1 server installed), WebIntelligence (Install the Business Objects XI 3.1 Client Tools in order to be able to build universes), BusinessObjects Voyager or XCelsius. Please note that you have to always install the BOBJ integration Kit for SAP (should be the same version as your server and client installation) on your clients AFTER you installed one or more of the above client tools.
Please take again a look at the following link for more detailed information (from Ingo) on this:

  • Brief discussion on SAP XI and its' Integration with SAP MDM.

    Hi,
I have never worked on SAP XI.
I am discussing it on brief, please give your valuable replies.
SAP XI consists of System Landascape Directory(SLD).
SLD Consists of Business System and Techinical System.
Technical System contains all information about the software
component. The Business System consists of Inbound and Outbound Business
System which are used as logical names for data transfer.
There is communication Channel for Receiver and Sender Business System and n agreement
is signed between Sender and Receiver.
Outbound Interface defined for Business System Outbound and Techical System associated
    with the Business System,
Inbound Interface defined for Business System Inbound and Techical System associated
    with the Business System.
In SAP NetWeaver XI Integration Directory, we have defined the Integration Scenarios,
Actions, Interface Objects, Mapping Objects, Adapters Objects.
Mapping Object defines the Structure and Value Mapping.
Adapter Objects defines the Adapter program which implements RFC Adapter, FTP Adapter logic.
FTP Adapter is used for XI-MDM Communication.
RFC Adapter is used for XI-ECC Communication.
Integration Repository: Both Outbound and Inbound Interfaces are Mapped with Value mapping and
    Structure Mapping inside Integration Repository.
The File Adapter takes the File from the Outbound port of MDM System
and sends it as IDOC to Receiver Business System.
Value Mapping must be done between Sender and Receiver interfaces.
Value Mapping is done by XSLT or Java based program.
SAP NetWeaver XI Integration Server at runtime:
Message Split, Interface Determination, Receiver Identifaction, Mapping, Techincal Routing
and Call Adapter Proccess are done.
In SAP XI 3.0 and MDM 5.5:
Step 1: Create busines system as service.
Step 2: Create communication channel for each business service. If the system can communicate
through different channels, then create all possible channel types if necessary.
Step 3: Create receiver agreement between the systems.
    Step 4: Interface determination:
    - Here you see for the first time the software component mentioned;
there are some special requirements regarding this software component in relation to the customizing ID mapping.
    - To modify this software component, the customer needs to copy the SAP standard delivered software component
into its own namespace. The customer is able to modify to create archives
    for the customized ID mapping.
    Receiver determination.
Configure an FTP Server on the MDS.
Create a send folder for outbound messages using outbound port(s) for
    remote systems(s).
Create receive folder inbound messages using inbound port(s) for remote systems.
This ia all about concept of SAP XI Infractsture and its' Integration with SAP MDM 5.5.
    Regards
    Kaushik Banerjee

    Hi Kaushik,
You must be aware of File types that MDM Import Manager can Import i.e. we have XML, Excel etc. Now there are two transactions to extract data from R3
    1. MDMGX -
             - For lookup table extraction
             - Output in XML format which MDM can import without using XI.
              - FTP can be configured to put the file in the desired folder which will be then picked by Import Server.
    2. MDM_CLNT_EXTR -
              - For Main table records.
              - Output is in Idoc format which MDM doesn't understand hence we need XI in between which converts Idoc file received from R3 into XML which can then be imported using Import Manager or Import Server. For this we need to implement XI Scenario that consists of Source System, Receiver System, Type of Data etc.
    Just a basic understanding...

  • SAP Product and Portfolio Management Upgrade(PPM)

HI Everyone, A warm reagrds! W e are planning to upgrade our current SAP Product and Portfolio Management 4.0 to 5.0.While doing the Upgrade analysis I have come across below these questions..Has anyone earlier in this forum have come across
1.What are the side effects of this upgrade on existing system?
    2. We have 21 client environment on top of the 3 standard clients provided by SAP. What can be the best approach for upgrading the systems? Some of these clients are used by project teams for prototype development , how would the upgrade affect their working (they are not working on this package)?
    3. Our team is working on this package in one of the client and have created scenarios in the system. What will be the effect of this upgrade ? (this question can be seen as an extension to question 1)
    4. How much effort would be required to carry out this upgrade and what will be the down time for the system?
I have check the service market place and help.sap but at present not getting much info..
Thanks for your time to read.. Please help!1

  • SAP upgrade - questions for report painter and query

    Hi Experts,
I have two quwstions of SAP upgrade.
My requirement is: SAP upgrade from 4.6B to ECC 6.0 with non-unicode.
1.Does SAP upgrade influence the report painter? If influence, could you tell me what should I do for this case.
    2. We have so many queries (SQ01) in our system and many of them haven't been run for a long time. we need a tool to get the runtimes of queries in a certain durition.
For example: From 2008/01/01 to 2008/03/31,I want to know how many queries had been run/ query name/ runtimes of each query.
    Best regards,

    > 1.Does SAP upgrade influence the report painter? If influence, could you tell me what should I do for this case.
    You can check
Note 1155524 - ReportWriter: Upgrade Issues ECC6.0 -Common Customer Issues
    > 2. We have so many queries (SQ01) in our system and many of them haven't been run for a long time. we need a tool to get the runtimes of queries in a certain durition.
Such a tool was RBE (Reverse Business Engineer) - which is out of support.
You can try to get that information from ST03. If that is not enough there's no other way than booking an SLO service to find out the queries that have not been used (http://service.sap.com/slo).

  • The Projects screen to import and export SAP xApp Manufacturing Integration

    Hello:
On my SAP Discovery Server, On the Projects screen to import and export SAP xApp Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP xMII) projects.
Under the projects listed I see one Default project, is listed as a System Project.
I did an import and used one of the sample application, along with the ExportManifest.xml file.
"You can create an external project structure, include it in a zip file, and import it as a new project. You do not need an ExportManifest.xml file to import a project."
Now I see two projects listed as System Projects, is that ok, would that cause any issues? Is there any way that I could correct this?
    Note:
If you import a project that already exists, the system overwrites the current project structure and files.
You can import hidden projects that do not appear on the Projects screen or in the SAP xMII Workbench. System-defined projects may appear in the Projects screen and in the SAP xMII Workbench, but you cannot delete them. You can import a project with the same name as a hidden or system-defined project and overwrite its properties. If you do this, they are no longer considered to be hidden or system-defined projects.
    Thank you,

You could consider creating a project and exporting it to see the proper format of the zip file, including the ExportManifest.  You should find attributes in the xml for setting the description, system type, etc.

    Hi!
I would like to start working with SAP XI.
Where can I find the Step by Step case studies describing different SAP XI scenarios (IDOC/ALE, RFC, File, etc.).
What is the most famous example of integration of SAP XI and none SAP tools?
Are there tool free of charge and can be downloaded?
    Thank you very much!

  • Put Together A Data Archiving Strategy And Execute It Before Embarking On Sap Upgrade

A significant amount is invested by organizations in a SAP upgrade project. However few really know that data archiving before embarking on SAP upgrade yields significant benefits not only from a cost standpoint but also due to reduction in complexity during an upgrade. This article not only describes why this is a best practice  but also details what benefits accrue to organizations as a result of data archiving before SAP upgrade. Avaali is a specialist in the area of Enterprise Information Management.  Our consultants come with significant global experience implementing projects for the worlds largest corporations.
    Archiving before Upgrade
It is recommended to undertake archiving before upgrading your SAP system in order to reduce the volume of transaction data that is migrated to the new system. This results in shorter upgrade projects and therefore less upgrade effort and costs. More importantly production downtime and the risks associated with the upgrade will be significantly reduced. Storage cost is another important consideration: database size typically increases by 5% to 10% with each new SAP software release – and by as much as 30% if a Unicode conversion is required. Archiving reduces the overall database size, so typically no additional storage costs are incurred when upgrading.
It is also important to ensure that data in the SAP system is cleaned before your embark on an upgrade. Most organizations tend to accumulate messy and unwanted data such as old material codes, technical data and subsequent posting data. Cleaning your data beforehand smoothens the upgrade process, ensure you only have what you need in the new version and helps reduce project duration. Consider archiving or even purging if needed to achieve this. Make full use of the upgrade and enjoy a new, more powerful and leaner system with enhanced functionality that can take your business to the next level.
Archiving also yields Long-term Cost Savings
By implementing SAP Data Archiving before your upgrade project you will also put in place a long term Archiving Strategy and Policy that will help you generate on-going cost savings for your organization. In addition to moving data from the production SAP database to less costly storage devices, archived data is also compressed by a factor of five relative to the space it would take up in the production database. Compression dramatically reduces space consumption on the archive storage media and based on average customer experience, can reduce hardware requirements by as much as 80% or 90%. In addition, backup time, administration time and associated costs are cut in half. Storing data on less costly long-term storage media reduces total cost of ownership while providing users with full, transparent access to archived information.

Maybe this article can help; it uses XML for structural change flexiblity: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oramag/2006/06-jul/o46xml-097640.html
