Satellite L40-14G Games/drivers issues

Why i can't play the latest games like Quake Wars, Unreal Tournament 3 on my laptop? Is this a video card issue or it's video driver issue? And can I use the latest drivers from intel, realtek and so on because thoose in Toshiba's site are outdated!
What is the difference between theese drivers from Toshiba's site and original drivers from intel?

HI Tsvetan,
Unfortunately the drivers on the Toshiba web-site are specially modified to work with your notebook. TYpically the modification is designed to ensure that the graphics chip does not overheat in use, and this shows up most obviously in applications which use intense graphics processing as you have already discovered. Unfortunately, it is quite common for the latest drivers from the chip manufacturers to refuse to load correctly if you download them directly from the manufacturers site.
If you Google for updated drivers you may find some from sites such as Omega which address the shortcomings of the Toshiba original drivers, but be aware that there is no official support for these drivers and you use them at your own risk.
regards,

  • Satellite C660-1KW - graphic drivers issue

    Hi,
I cant find graphic drivers for my tosh. I try search it on intel site but they send me here
    plz help

    > I think I need this update for my Satellite C660-1LD as I'm having problems running certain programs.
There is no big difference between the version 8.15.10.2353 and 8.15.10.2189 and therefor I doubt the installed driver might be the reason why you have problems running certain programs.
    > Should I be saving the new version somewhere specifically or does it instinctively know where to go (can you tell I'm not very techy?)
Download the package, save it somewhere on the HDD (I prefer desktop), unzip the package (you can use software like WinRAR or WinZip) and then run the setup or install exe
Follow the instruction on the screen and then reboot the notebook. Now the driver should be updated.

  • Need WXP hardware drivers for Satellite L40-139

    Hi!
It seems that there are no XP drivers available for the Satellite L40-139.
Could anyone please tell me where I can download drivers for the following devices:
    -Satellite L40-139
    -Audio device
    -Graphics controller
    -ACPI controller!
-Some chipset drivers (?) (PCI Subsystem or something)
I should really appreciate any help!
    Kind regards!

    Hi,
unfortunately there are no drivers available from toshiba at the moment, but you can try using generic drivers from the manufacturers of the hardware
(e.g. if the soundhardware is a realtek soundcard then download drivers from www.realtek.com and so on..) and run the machine with these drivers.
Here are some link which could perhaps help you:

  • I can't turn the Wifi on, Satellite L40-18Z

    Hi there,
I've been using Satellite L40-18Z but I can't turn on Wifi.
I'm very sure that Tthe device is installed propery and I tried some ways to turn on Wifi device but never turned on. Of course, never catched the signal. Rooter has no problem either.
Deveice manager says ithe device works propery. And the driver is correctly installed. But I can't turn on from windows mobility centre or network setting.
It's very embarrassing to post something like this but I need your help.
P.S. this is the first time I post on this thread but who answers? Toshiba support team?
    Thanks,

I have the same problem. Does anyone cope with it? Have my wifi disabled can't switch it on, tried to reinstall it nothing work.
Have it installed and work correctly thru device manager. Wifi can't be enabled and find network, all other devices are working properly. Access point have no limitation or something else in their settings.
Windows diagnostic can't resolve this issue. Shows that "wifi is still disabled on this computer" FN+F8 doens't wotk too.
Any help are more then wellcome.
I suppose this is Realtek RTL8187B Wireless 802.11g 54Mbps USB 2.0 Network Adapter bug within Thoshiba Laptop.
    Thanks in advance.
    PS
Running Vista Home Premium that goes with laptop. 100 mb network is working ok.

  • Lan and WLan does not work on Satellite L40-18W

    Hi all
I have TOSHIBA Satellite L40-18W and my problem 1- wireless not work & wired lan does not work.
I have download driver and every thing is ok but it does not work ( when i search by wireless i do not find any network. My router is working fine)
    plzz help meeeee

    Hi
Its hard to understand what you mean by not working.
    What does this mean exactly?
Are you not able to connect to the internet or what?
Usually if the WLan card and the LAN card have been recognized properly in device manager then the drivers are working fine and the issue could be related to wrong router configuration or maybe to some enabled firewalls, etc
Firstly I recommend checking the router settings. Check if the router has been configured with the right data from ISP and if all other common options have been set correctly.
The notebook supports Realtek Wlan and LAN card.
Check if Wlan card uses the same WLan standard like the WLan router and if right encryption has been used too.

  • Satellite L40-13G: Bios not updating on Vista SP1

I have a Satellite L40 13G and the latest Bios update refuses to update.
I'm trying to update my BIOS because the laptop freezes randomly at times and I have "graphics" issues where games lag where there's any form of an explosion such as gunfire or a bomb.
There are no instructions, not in the exe and definitely not on screen. If I didn't know how to flash a BIOS I would definitely not know to choose the .bin BIOS file in the directory between all the DLL files.
    Thank you
    Yahweh.

The reason why your laptop keeps frozen is because there is a bug in the current graphic driver on your computer. If I am not wrong, you may have blue screen of death at the start up occasionally.
There is one way to solve the problem is to update the bios and I hope bios for L40 already updated the graphic bios (VBIOS) (I dont have L40 so I am not sure about this). However, be careful when you update the bios as it is quite dangerous and may kill your laptop.
If you have problems with the graphic/game, please follow the instruction given in: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=33432&tstart=15 (both first and second post). Try this one before you try to update your bios.
When you download the graphic driver from intel, you may receive the message that the driver is not suitable for your system. Don't worry. Just extract the driver package you download from Intel somewhere on the harddrive, Go to Device manager, browse to the extracted folder to update the driver manually. After it finishes, run the Intel Package again to complete the process
    Good luck.

  • Has someone installed Windows 7 on an Satellite L40?

    Anyone done this yet?
    Any driver issues?

    Hi
Im not Satellite L40 owner and I didnt install the Win7 on my notebook but I read here in the forum many threads regarding the Win 7 and mostly all users has managed the installation of Win7 on the own notebooks.
You can use the Win Vista drivers most of vista drivers are compatible with Win7 and I think there shouldnt be a big problem.
But you should consider that the Win 7 is a beta version and there are still a lot of bugs and open security risks.
So I would use this OS only for some testing but not as a regular OS.

  • Satellite L40 won't shut down with power connected, and won't go in standby

Hi everybody. I hope someone can help me. Basically, there are two problems: one with shutting the laptop (Satellite L40-17U (Vista 32-bit Home Premium SP1) ) down when the power is connected, and one with closing the lid and putting it to sleep.
    1. Since a few weeks, it suddenly doesn't want to shut down, whenever the power is connected. When it is on battery, it will shut down. When the power is connected and I try shutting it down, it seems like it shuts down (all activity ceases and the LEDs go off) for about 1 or 2 seconds, and then it goes back on.
    2. When I close the lid (all settings in Vista are set to put the laptop in 'sleep' status when the lid is closed) the laptop goes into a state from which it can only be recovered by shutting it down by pressing the on/off button for about 10 seconds to completely shut it down. When closing the lid, only the battery LED keeps blinking orange (the way it should be), but apparently the laptop keeps consuming power, because when I reboot it later (first having to shut it down as described above) the battery tends to be quite a emptier than it was before rebooting it (like going from 100% to 65% in 30 minutes, while being in 'sleep' state). Also, when I open the lid, the other LEDs do go on again (green), but nothing happens.
After rebooting by first pressing the on/off button for 10 seconds to shut it down, I frequently get a message that Windows could not be started, and have to run System Repair.
I've just done a completely clean installation with the product recovery CD (didn't install SP1 yet), upgraded the BIOS to v1.90, but the problem remains.
I'm afraid my only option will be to bring it away for a warranty repair, but knowing that these repairs can take weeks, I'd prefer to try a solution anyone here could recommend me first. If you have any ideas, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Daniel Breslauer

    Hi guys
Never had such issue on my notebook but regarding to another users here in the forum the BIOS might help to solve such strange notebook behavior
To be honest the shut down issue is not known to me I noticed an standby issue on my notebook but the BIOS update helped.
Therefore I recommend updating the BIOS firstly.
If the issue will still appear, then the ASP should take a look into the notebook.
    Good luck

  • Satellite L40 with no Wi-Fi after Update of Vista

    Hey there,
i got a Toshiba Satellite L40-137 and installed the Service Pack 1 of Vista.
And now my WLan/Wifi is just deactivated with no information which driver I need or something..
Well, it seems like this is a common issue because i googled lots of similar questions but found no proper answer.
    Some Facts:
    1) The little lamp at the bottom of the keyboard doesnt work
    2) the connectivity doctor just tells me wifi is "deactivated"
    3) fn+f8 does absolute nothing
In case you got any workaround I'd be pretty thankful! :)
    Thanks a lot,
    Heiko

    Hi heiko_1,
That means this happened after Service Pack 1 installation on Windows Vista?!
Well, in my opinion you can solve it with driver reinstallation. Just follow the link posted by Mike30 and download the latest version. This should work.

  • Installing Windows XP on Satellite L40-114

I just bought a Satellite L40-114 for home and education. I just found out I need windows XP for some scientific applications and the VPN software for access, so I tried to install it. I was really disappointed Toshiba does not seem to deliver XP drivers for this laptop. I managed to get the sound working for what its worth (sound skipping) but hotkeys and video drivers is not working at all.
Anyone who had more luck installing Windows XP on this laptop?

    Hi there,
I cannot help you regarding the hotkeys but in case of videodrivers you should visit www.intel.com for video drivers since your machine has an intel 900GMA video chipset.
Just go to the Intel website and download drivers for that chipset, it should work.
Would appreciate some feedback on your success.

  • Satellite L855-14G - Devices are not detected in device manager

I've reinstalled my Satellite L855/L855D (installed windows 7 instead of win 8) . And there is a problem : many devices are not found , like ethernet / wireless. Video card Radeon HD 7670M also not found. I can't install drivers, the errors apears that my hardware isn't suitable with software (e.g chipset). On toshiba's website i typed my satellite's serial number, but my computer isn't found. Whats wrong with this laptop ?
    Same problem here: [http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/386506-33-devices-detected-device-manager-format-win7]
What should i do ? i've tried lots of drivers , but no one works. Please , give me advice. Thank you.
Toshiba Satellite L855-14G (Toshiba EUROPE GMBH)
    Part. No. PSKFWE-00H00FG3
    Intel (R) i5 3210M
    AMD Radeon HD 7670M
    4GB RAM DDR3
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

I've entered my satellite's specs on that website and installed chipset utility from that website. But when installion beggins, in description is written , that this version chipset utility (9.3.0.1020) supports i7 proccesors (Target Chipset#: Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family). Is this chipset utility suitable with my Intel i5 3210M proccesor ? One more i've tried Display drivers, but setup isn't starting.
