Satellite Pro M30 Hibernation Mode Problem

Hello,
I can't activate Hybernation mode in my laptop. When I check the option in the Control Panel>Energy Options from windows xp, it says that the file is being used by someone else, I suppose, toshiba energy management.
I've updated the toshiba energy program, but it stills don't work.
Any help?
Thanks

Found solution!
The problem is that there's a conflict with a controller. In concret, a virtual drive used in programs like Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools.
There's a thread here: http://breaman.net/index.php?p=31.
The main problem is that the computer dies one day with a blue screen. Then you can't recover although you use F8 or safe mode. When you reinstall everything, then you can't use hibernation mode. This happens because of a controller for a virtual cd.
Just uninstall this programs, activate hibernation and... if you want, reinstall the software.
Hopes this helps.

  • Satellite Pro M30 graphics card not working when driver is installed

    Hi all,
    Im having problem with my nvidia Geforce FX Go5200, in a Satellite Pro M30 laptop, (Intel Pentium M processor 1.7 GHz, 512 Ram). This card was working fine suddenly the notebook stops.
    I have formatted the notebook and installed Win XP PRO. After installing the VGA driver I restarted the notebook but black screen started coming up right after the Win XP splash screen appears. The notebook continues to start up but no screen.
    It starts just fine in safe mode. I get my best screen by simply disabling the geforce card or uninstalling the driver. I tried to install a new driver for the VGA from the Toshiba download site but same problem appears. I have also tried updating BIOS but nothing happens.
    Anyone can help me?
    [email protected]

    It is very strange issue. It will be really interesting to know if this happen when you use delivered recovery installations CD.
    Anyway I presume there is some problem with LCD display. In safe mode the desktop is shown in lowers resolution but when OS starts the resolution will be adapted for standard one (1280x800) and obviously there is the problem.
    I am not technician but I recommend you to contact service partner. As far as I know they use special tools and programs for display tests. They can tell you more.

  • Keyboard not responding - Satellite Pro M30

    Hi,
    I have recently purchased a Satellite Pro M30. The keyboard has stopped responding completely. When I turn the laptop on and when it prompt me for login credentials I am just not able to enter it, nothing happens when the keys are pressed.
    I re-installed the unit using recovery CD but no luck. Interestingly, when I put laptop in stand-by mode, and when it comes back to normal mode, keys work for few seconds. Also if I kill the explorer.exe and launch new one, keys works for some time.
    Since keys are working when laptop comes out of standby mode, the keyboard is not completely dead/hardware failure. My OS is XP Pro SP2.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sanjay Kedare

    Hello
    The best way to check the functionality of the unit is to preinstall the unit with original recovery CD or DVD. Like I can see you have already done this.
    If the problem still persists I assume there is some hardware problem. I dont know if the unit is new one or used one but you should contact service partner in your country and explain them the situation. Valid warranty will cover all costs if some hardware part is defective and must be exchanged.

  • Satellite Pro M30 Win 7 - webcam does not work on msn messenger

    Hi all
    I have a Satellite Pro M30 Modell Nr.: PSM35E and have just changed to Windows 7. But the Nvidia Card NVIDIA GeForceTM FX Go5200 Grafik mit 64 MB RAM does not work properly.
    I could find a driver from Vista and installed it, have Aero pics on the desktop, but my webcam does not work on msn messenger and this is the only way for me to see my family.
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks for your help

    Hi
    Im a little bit confused; do you have some problems with the graphic card or with the webcam?
    I assume you are speaking about external webcam connected to the USB port? Right?
    What happens if you connect the webcam to the notebook? Can Win 7 recognize the connected device? Did you install additional drivers for this webcam?
    In most cases its necessary to do that because I think its not plug & play device.

  • Satellite Pro M30 - cannot install sound driver

    Hi
    I have a Satellite Pro M30 which usaed to work fine but I can no longer install sound card drivers on it.
    I THINK it has happened since we reinstalled windows XP Pro with SP2 but can not be certain.
    It is trying to install the Sigmatel AVC97 drivers and comes up with the following error.
    Invalid operating system parameter or this installer does not support this operating system
    Any suggestions as there seems to be only one sound driver for the SPM30 family.

    Nobody here have got a problems with sound driver installation just you
    So is this not strange for you???
    Either you did something wrong or its your windows XP issue.
    Please note that the Toshiba driver page provides also the Installation Instructions
    There you can find the right installation order!
    Install your OS again and follow this instruction in this doc!

  • Need info about max HDD size available for Satellite Pro M30-813

    Hello,
    The following question is mainly to be addressed to authorized Toshiba support personnel. What exactly is the limitation of a maximum size of an internal HDD that I could use with my Satellite Pro M30-813?
    Recently, I have bought and installed seagate 160 GB SATA drive, onto which I have successfully installed WXP Pro and have been running it for quite a while with no problems. Recently, I have been copying large amount of data from an external hard drive to my new internal disk, and as the files were being copied as I noticed having about 50 GB free space left, I had experienced windows "delayed write failed" and a massive partition failure with no possibility to recover data. The system would no longer boot and the whole MBR was damaged. As the result, I have lost all data on my new disk.
    Although, I realize that Toshiba is not responsible for additional hardware that I use with my laptop and that is not officially supported by Toshiba, I am certain that as an end user of a Toshiba product I have the right to know about a max HDD size limitation information for my notebook model. Therefore, I request Toshiba technical support representative to give me a straight official answer to my question.
    Thank you in advance,
    Andrejs

    Hi Andrew
    > The following question is mainly to be addressed to authorized Toshiba support personnel
    I think you are in the wrong area if you are looking for an answer from an authorized Toshiba support.
    This is a Toshiba user-to-user forum! You will meet here Toshiba notebook owner and enthusiasts who share knowledge and tries solve problems but nobody from Tosh :(
    I could provide my experience with the M30 Satellite and the HDD upgrade possibilities.
    In my knowledge the Sat M30 supports a 40GB, 60GB and 80GB HDD for sure.
    In my opinion you could use the 100GB HDD but bigger HDDs will not run and functions correctly.
    So switch to a lower HDD size and enjoy the notebook!
    Ive goggled a little bit and found compatible HDD and the part numbers
    HITACHI GBC000Z810 -> 80GB
    HITACHI GBC00014810 -> 80GB
    TOSHIBA HDD2188B -> 80GB
    HITACHI G8C0000Z610 -> 60GB
    HITACHI G8BC00013610 -> 60GB
    TOSHIBA HDD2183 -> 60GB
    TOSHIBA HDD2184 -> 60GB
    I hope this could help you a little bit!
    Best regards

  • What is the mainboard productnumber on Satellite Pro M30?

    Hello,
    I need the Productnumber from the mainboard for my Satellite. Modell Nr. : PSM35E-000NU-GR
    Thanks.

    Rocko your right number is notebook part number and number posted by Doc is part number for mainboard.
    All Satellite Pro M30 belongs to model number that begins with PSM35E and you can find it on Toshiba sticker at the bottom side.
    Start Google and put P000400260 as search term and check the results.

  • Satellite Pro M30, Is it recommended to install the new display driver from nVIDIA?

    I own a Satellite Pro M30 notebook, which includes a GeForce FX Go5200 GPU made by nVIDIA. On July 27, nVIDIA released a new driver and related software (version 61.77) which, as stated by nVIDIA, fits all its GPUs.
    I tried to install this new driver on my notebook (after removing the old driver as instructed by nVIDIA) but it does not install. Does somebody have any idea why?
    Why isn't the new driver posted on Toshiba's driver support site for this notebook?

    Hi
    All drivers are designed and tested for the notebooks and Tom is right about depending on notebook producer. That means that you can find all necessary drivers on Toshiba download page.
    As far as I know Toshiba supports the drivers delivered with the unit and updates drivers if needed.

  • UK key tops for Satellite Pro M30

    I have bought a Satellite Pro M30 in France and it has a French keyboard. I have set it up to work as a UK version but can anyone tell me how to get UK key tops so I can change them for the French ones. Failing that, does anyone have the part number for a new keyboard for this model?

    Wow! This system realy works. Thank you so much for getting back to me so soon.
    I will keep this question open for the time being just in case someone comes up with a place to get just the keycaps - hopefully that will be cheaper than buying a complete keyboard.

  • Satellite Pro M10 - start up problems

    Hi
    I have a Satellite Pro M10, only 2 years old, but has big start up problems at mement.
    The message that comes up when turning it on is:
    "Intel (R) Boot Agent FE v4.1.09
    Copyright (C) 1997-2002, Intel Corporation
    PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
    PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.
    Insert system disk in drive.
    press any key when ready......"
    Now I have spoken to a few people and they all say I need a new hard disk etc..., but I can't see how you replace this as it looks like it is built in rather than something than can just be pulled out.
    Also I don't have a system disk, and the guy that supplied it to me has decided not to return my emails?
    Can anyone help please?
    Chris

    Hi,
    Your original error messages indicate that your laptop is unable to boot from the hard drive, so the BIOS search order will then force a boot from the CD drive. This is why it is asking fro a disc to be inserted.
    Since you cannot boot into safe mode then I must presume that your hard drive is corrupt in some way, so the next option is to restore the hard drive from your recovery CDs. Note that this will reformat you hard drive and you will lose any data on there which has not been backed up.
    To use the recovery CDs simply insert the first CD into the CD drive and power attempt to reboot the laptop while holding down the 'C' key on the keyboard. (This may be different for your CDs but it is the "C" key on mine).
    Then just follow the on-screen prompts to start restoring your hard drive.
    With regard to your question about the 'system disk', this can be any bootable CD that you may have. Some can be supplied by third party products (such as Norton Ghost) or may be created yourself for subsequent use. Your product recovery CDs are also bootable so you may be able to user the first of them at this prompt.

  • Hibernation Mode problems!

    Hi,
    I've had a PowerBook G4 for a good few years now and the sleep mode on it was great, close the lid, it's in sleep, safe to throw in a bag without risk of scratching the hard disk. I've just purchased a MacBook Pro and it takes 10 seconds to sleep!
    After some research I found that the MacBook Pro's default option is to SafeSleep, meaning everytime I ask it to sleep it writes the RAM to disk before actually sleeping, this is what takes the time!
    I found a solution on Macworld,
    Using these four commands I was able to check, change, and then remove the hibernation image from the disk, freeing up 2GB of space.
    $ pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
    sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
    cd /var/vm
    sudo rm sleepimage
    All great, the computer went to sleep virtually instantly, and woke up instantly too. However, it keeps changing back to option 3, rather than 0. Here is the link to that page incase i've not explained very well, http://www.macworld.com/article/53471/2006/10/sleepmode.html .
    So in short, my problem is that I can't get the computer to stay in Hibernation Mode 0!
    Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Wilko

    Looks like you missed setting it in non-volatile RAM ...
    $ sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
    $ sudo nvram "use-nvramrc?"=false
    $ sudo rm /private/var/vm/sleepimage
    The other way to get 2 second sleep is to hold down Command-Option and then press the Eject button for about 2 seconds

  • Satellite Pro M30 - how to recover the data?

    I get a disk read error when I try to boot my Sat Pro M30 running XP Pro, just after the In Touch with Toshiba screen.
    Using the Revovery DVD that came with the computer when purchased and entering advanced mode I'm trying to use check local Image File. It doesn't seem to find any Image file. Is it possible to recover or rebuild image file?
    There are some data I would like to recover from the HD so I'm trying to avoid reinstalling the system until I've recovered the files.
    Have tried to read from the HD using a cabinette and a new NP running Vista but it didn't work. Is there a general problem reading a XP HD from VISTA?
    Any suggestions how to recover the data would be very much appreciated!
    Johan

    cabinette ? Do you mean "USB Hard Disk Caddy" ?
    To recover your data, you can connect the HDD using a USB Adapter to another PC running XP or Vista. The drive should show up as a Drive letter (such as E: Drive), and you will be able to copy the files.
    When you say "but it didn't work", what was the problem exactly?

    Unfortunately not much. What you need is professional help so I recommend you to contact nearest Toshiba service and ask for help. Sorry.

  • Toshiba Satellite Pro M30 & Power Saver shutdown error

    hello!
    i am fighting with this problem for months now.. the latest version of power saver on my toshiba sat pro m30 running windows xp with service pack 1 installed gives a message box with an error message on shutdown and i am unable to eliminate this error. unfortunately, i cannot consider re-installing the system from scratch, because there are many other applications installed and i cannot lose settings for them. i've read the forums and realised i am not the first one having problems with toshiba power saver. i am even lucky to have it started successfully at the start-up! yet, it crashes at the shutdown. it's quite annoying. also, i have downloaded all latest updates from this site for my laptop, including even bios update.
    i would love to have the opportunity to be able to download the bug-free version of toshiba power saver from this site, and i am sure many other people would appreciate the fixes too!
    any feedback on that?
    andrew.

    hello Quad,
    > If your Notebook is properly installed it should work
    > well. All delivered software was tested. The only
    > reason for your problem can be some additional
    > software that you installed later.
    my notebook was properly installed and power saver indeed had not been crashing from the very beginning. it started to crash at shutdown after a month of work with my laptop. how can it be that no other application is crashing elsewhere, and only the power saver application does? do you not find it slightly irrelevant to point me again to recovery CD? especially, when i mention that re-installing everything from scratch is not an option for me? moreover, i didn't install anything ultra-specific that loads at startup. in fact, i try to keep my system as clean as possible. no Antivirus, no SP2, no weird background processes.
    > It is also possible that it can be caused by some
    > Antivirus application. Maybe is some application
    > running in background? There are lots of reasons who
    > can be responsible for this issue.
    there is logic in your words, but as i said, there are no specific applications installed to be running in the background, except ASIO drivers for the external sound interface, but they were working fine from the beginning with power saver. no antivirus installed either.
    and please do not refer to your particular configuration as a standard. all configurations become different as time passes from the original installation. :>
    regards,
    andrew
