Save as, type files, images, and documents

Is it possible in flash to embed links to use right click save as for large documents.
I know that you can open a pdf in another browser but what about a file that you just want people to be able to save and not open.

If your linked file is zipped, it will be downloaded and not opened.

  • Store image and document files

    If I define a table column as BLOB type, and I want it to hold image files. Can I used it for holding multiple images/pictures? Same question is asked for the document files such as .DOC or .PDF files?
    I mean something like this:
    ROW ID BLOB
    Row 1 Image 1
    Row 2 Image 2
    Row 3 Image 3
    Can I put all three (images 1, 2 , and 3) into one "cell", such as:
    Row 1 Image 1|Image 2|Image 3?
    Similarly for the document, Can I put all three (doc 1, 2 , and 3) into one "cell", such as:
    Row 1 Doc 1|Doc 2|Doc 3?
    Thanks

But it will require you to create a "+mega datastructure+", embed the content (images, pdf, docs) into this and then saving that structure as a LOB.
    For example, you can use XML, use base64 to encode the image/doc/pdf and add it into the XML structure - and repeat for each image/doc/pdf until they are all in that single XML format. XML is however not that well suited for dealing with large binary structures.
    You can create your own format. You create a fixed size header structure that contains filename and size. You then write into the LOB a header+file, header+file, and so on.
    Reading the LOB is relatively easy as you read a header (fixed size). This tell you how many of the following bytes are file (image/pdf/doc). Read this variable part and then read the next fixed sized header.
    However... this is a lot of extra code that needs to be written. The LOB structure is a lot more complex. And you have to ask yourself how is this better in anyway to use header-and-file when you can achieve exactly the same using a table structure +(filename, lob)+.
    If you want to store structured data in a database, then use the database to provide that structure for you. It is highly questionable to create your own complex data structure (only understood by your code) and then chuck that into a single database column value. This will not be robust. This cannot perform. This will never scale.
    So your approach.. well, bluntly put I would put that into the Very Silly Party category.. you know the party who, for the Harpenden constituency, had election candidate Malcolm Peter Brian Telescope Adrian Umbrella Stand Jasper Wednesday (pops mouth twice) Stoatgobbler John Raw Vegetable (whinnying) Arthur Norman Michael (blows squeaker) Featherstone Smith (whistle) Northgot Edwards Harris (fires pistol, then 'whoop') Mason (chuff-chuff-chuff-chuff) Frampton Jones Fruitbat (laughs) (squeaker) Gilbert (sings) 'We'll keep a welcome in the' (three shots) Williams If I Could Walk That Way Jenkin (squeaker) Tiger-drawers Pratt Thompson (sings) 'Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head' Darcy Carter (horn) Pussycat (sings) 'Don't Sleep In The Subway' Barton Mainwaring (hoot, 'whoop') Smith.

  • Iphoto duplicates in images and documents

    Is it normal for images to be stored in all images and all documents,
    I would like to reduce the amount I have , but first want to be sure I do not delete the originals. Surely I am using double the space?

    am I ok to delete duplicates? from documents and images
    NO
    or am I best leaving well alone?
    Yes!
    All Images is just a list of files and being in the list does not indicate en extra copy
    All images is just a list and DOES NOT indicate duplicates - it is like having three copies of your bank statement - that does not give you three times as much money
    All documents is the same
    Likewise all documents is just a list and DOES NOT indicate duplicates
    And if these photos are in iPhoto you must NEVER move or delete them from these lists - it will corrupt your iPhoto library - Photos in iPhoto must be managed ONLY using iPhoto
    Do not ever delete iPhoto photos from the All images or the all documents lists these ARE NOT Duplicates - they are just a list of files

  • Gnome: mime types, file associations and defaults.list

    I installed the new Gnome 2.8 during the weekend and now my file type associations is completely bloated. The mime system is intact - Nautilus recognises files properly. However, Nautilus doesn't know which applications to open a specific file with. I have read other posts and found useful information, but not the solution.
    This post in FedoraForum gave me a hint to what's causing the problem:
    http://fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread … post127530
    It seems that the file defaults.list is missing from /usr/share/mime/applications. Apparently this file contains the associations  between applications and mime types. I have not be able to find out which package should provide this file or how to recreate it. Can anyone help - maybe provide the name of the package that provides this file?
    Thanks,

    Yeah, I got tired of Evolution not knowing about opening *.docs in openoffice.  After several hours of research, the key is the /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache,  /opt/gnome/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache, and the MimeType fields in the *.desktop files.  The mimeinfo.cache in /usr was empty and the /opt one had gthumb and other apps but no OO:
    [MIME Cache]
    application/x-gnome-stones=gnome-stones.desktop
    image/jpeg=gthumb.desktop
    application/postscript=ggv.desktop
    ...snip...
    That's a lot of blather to say that the fix for Evolution/OpenOffice was to add the proper MimeType entry to /usr/share/applications/ooo645writer.desktop:
    MimeType=application/vnd.ms-word;application/msword
    and then run "update-desktop-database".  Problem solved.
    Another problem is that within Evolution it says an attached doc is a "application/msword" and not a "Microsoft Word Document".  Unfortunately this is because freedesktop.org decided to use application/vnd.ms-word instead of application/msword like the rest of the world.  If you check the vnd.ms-word entry in /usr/share/mime/packages/freedesktop.org.xml it defines an alias msword but the new mime system doesn't appear to recognize aliases yet.  The solution I used was to rename the entry to msword.  Another possible solution might be to remove the msword alias from the vnd.ms-word entry and create a new msword entry based on the vnd.ms-word one.  Then run "update-mime-database /usr/share/mime".  Hope that made sense.
    I think the defaults.list is part of the previous GNOME MIME setup cause I don't have one and I'm not experiencing any problems.  For other apps check for the associations in the mimeinfo.cache's and if missing add the MimeType's to the app's *.desktop.

  • How can i copy and past music files, Images and Videos to my Apple Iphone?

    I have a new Iphone 4 mobile phone. Any one can  help me  for how can i stote music,videos and images files in My Iphone?
    When i search on internet i saw icloud and itunes. Is there any net connection requered to use icloud or itunes? Without net connect how can i store my files in my apple phone?

    Prabakhar,
    First, please verify that you mean CDDA and not CDA.  CDA is not an audio format.
    CDDA is pretty much the "raw" format of an audio CD.  It is extremely unusual to have it as a separate file.  If you still have the original CD that it came from, re-rip the CD using this document.  (Edit added.  I meant to add the link to this document:  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12486  )
    Otherwise, a web search will turn up converters that can process a CDDA file, although I have not used them.

  • Html files, images and JEditorPane

    Hello all,
    I've got some HTML file that need be displayed in a JEditorPane. Those HTMLs contain image references and I'm using relative paths to those jpegs, for example:
    <img src="image.GIF">
    ...where image.gif is in the same folder as the HTML file that contains the reference. Now I'm displaying this HTML file inside a JEditorPane and I get only a placeholder instead of the image; only text gets displayed properly.
    Here's how I'm constructing the JEditorPane instance:
              pane = new JEditorPane();
              pane.setEditable(false);
              pane.setContentType("text/html");
              HTMLEditorKit kit = new HTMLEditorKit();
              kit.createDefaultDocument();
              pane.setEditorKit(kit);and later...
          try {
              URL u = new URL("file", "localhost", ivHelpPath);
              pane.setPage(u);
            } catch (IOException iox) {
            }I saw on some other thread that I should be setting the document's base URL for the reference I get from getDocument(), but that does not seem to work when I use "http://localhost/" to make my URL object.
    So... help! :)
    Thanks much.

    Not sure what you're trying to do with new URL( "file" "localhost", ...
    Try this code and see if it helps you - display a page that already exists though - perhaps that's the diff?
        JTextPane() jtp = new JTextPane(); //JEditorPane();
        jtp.setEditable( false );
        JScrollPane jsp = new JScrollPane( jtp,
                                     JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED,
                                     JScrollPane.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED );
        ( ( HTMLEditorKit ) ( jtp.getEditorKit() ) ).setLinkCursor( new Cursor( Cursor.HAND_CURSOR ) );
        jtp.addHyperlinkListener( new HyperlinkListener() {
          public void hyperlinkUpdate( HyperlinkEvent hle ) {
            try {
              if ( hle.getEventType() == HyperlinkEvent.EventType.ACTIVATED )
                jtp.setPage( hle.getURL() );
            } catch( Exception e ) {
              // do something;
        });... There's also code here that will activate hyperlinks which you may or may not want. But this will display embedded .gif files.

  • How can I resolve: cannot save any type of image in Illustrator CS6 on Windows XP SP3?

    I have a user who is on Windows XP SP3 and he cannot save any images in Illustrator CS6. When he selects eitheer of the save buttons, the location window comes up but nothing happens after that. We have given him admin rights and permissions for the computer and Illustrator, the UAC is off, we have deleted the pref folder, and we have done a reinstall of the software . Other users can log onto the same machine and Illustrator works fine for them, but; this particular user, who is the primary user of the computer, cannot save his work using the program. How can we fix this

    Flush out temp files and check disk permissions and quota. He may simply be running out of local storage space.

  • Devspace of type file(F) and raw(R) together

    I have a database with data devspaces located in a filesystem (F).
    I want to migrate to devspaces of the type raw (R).
    My Question: Can I use both types of devspaces in one database together?
    Thanks for any help.
    Bernhard

    > For very modern filesystems (ZFS, VxFS > 4) this may be true but the FS check for e. g. ext3 and UFS still check the inode integrity compared to/in the superblocks, in practice checking an ext3 even with one big file can take hours. On Linux this will be done every 180 days after rebooting if not switched off before. This can increase a downtime unexpectedly if you don't know that you need to switch it off.
    I stand corrected on this - thanks for pointing out this. Really might become naughty on the half-yearly reboot.weekend,...
    > > Concerning the faster extension... we format RAW devices too  - so where do you expect to save time here?
    >
    > Just for curiosity: since when are RAW devices formatted? I can build a 4 TB database in about 10 minutes where 9,5 minutes are used to format the log area; using a filesystem this is a several-10-hour task with high load on the SAN, even if formatted sequentially. I never saw in the last 12+ years that RAW devices are really "fomatted" as the log area is
    >
    > Two weeks ago I added 400 GB to a database using a script, it didn't take a minute until the space was available so I don't know...
    Hmm... Ok, I just spend half an hour wading through what is called our Volume-Management code...
    Really looks like as if we just performa few wrtie I/Os into the RAW devs (something like, start - middle - end of the whole device area) and write the header page.
    You could have the same behaviour for Filesystem-Data-Vols by switching off formatting via the DB parameter.
    Why this is just done for Data-Volumes? Phew.. no idea actually.

    Well... ahem... the installation media barely represent current recommendations.
    No parameters, no recent patches, no nothing.
    Basically they represent a defined and working starting setup from where you can move on (<-- MY personal opinion! Not to be mistaken as official! ).
    Seen that way I totally agree with Oracles decision to kick out RAW device support and I wouldn't recommend to move to them either. (but also not to convert a working RAW dev-installation to filesystem  - the effect is simply not worth the conversion effort).
    Hey, Markus - thanks for pointing my misbelieves here!

  • Releasing Resource (File Handle) and Document Builder

    I am currently working on a project that uses a Jar file containing XML configuration files. The Jar file needs to read this file and the DocumentBuilder.parse method is called on the XML files. Later, new XML files need to be added to this same Jar file.
    The problem is that at that point I can't open the Jar file for writing because I can't unlock the file since it is held by the DocumentBuilder. Even when these objects go out of scope and are deleted the resource is not being unlocked. The only solution I've found is to copy the file and read from the copy and write to the original. This solution leaves extra files lying around though and is not very elegant. Is there anyway I can force that file handle to be destroyed and unlock the configuration file resource?

    That could be.....
    Basically I create a URI object using the path for the Jar file and the XML file within it. Then I use URI.toString() and give that to the Document Builder.
    DocumentBuilder.parse( StringURI )

  • Storing Images and Documents in Portal

    Dear Experts,
    I have a scenario in which webdynpro and JSP Dynpage applications shall refer and upload image files in the portal.  I  have created a common file mount under WAS' irj folder  and I am able to access and write the images.
    I made a common folder under irj folder on the server so that my application will refer the images by just giving the relative path i.e irj\foldername\image name and the access would be fasted instead of refering an independent folder somewhere on the server.
    My question is, Is there is any impact if I create a folder under irj folder and store all the images? Any suggestions/pointers to the documentations would be great.
    Thanks
    Ram

    If you are required to migrate from development to testing and then production server...then I think there can be problem as your application will not find folder in next systems.

  • Idle url GIF file Image and XML file required.* for 7970

    Can anyone supply me a working xml and gif file for the Cisco 7970 colour phone?
    Has anyone actually got this working?
    Thanks!

    First, get the terms right.
    Idle screen is idle screen. Does not need to have anything to do with CCMCIP directory.
    You can set the phone "Device" to ANY server which is running a HTTP server and is able to send headers. Apache. IIS. You name it.
    What you have to do is to
    - make a PNG file accessible using HTTP. Say, it will be http://someniceserver/ipphonestuff/neatpic.png
    - create an XML file with the description I already provided and change the URL to http://someniceserver/ipphonestuff/neatpic.png
    Voila.

  • How do you transfer different types of data through a data socket (data types: clusters, images and boolean states)

    I am attempting to transfer positional data (on a predetermined route) overlaid on a map and indications of boolean output states to secondary computer through datasocket (LabVIEW 8.6, Datasocket 4.5).  Is it required to compress all these parts into an array which is bundled and transmitted to the secondary computer which then would have to be unbundled and separated out of the array?  Is this the only option, or are there other methods? Also how would we go about these methods?

    Hi Maruti,
    It seems like the way you described would be the way to do it unless you wanted to pass all the data seperately.
    Check out this KB relating to passing clusters through datasocket: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/1085057DB6F930058625672400646805?OpenDocument

  • Tiff image and pdf file

    Hi,
    I am working with project that requires showing different types of images and pdf files using oracle ADF components. It was so easy to show jpeg and gif, for example, using objectMedia. I tried to use the same component, objectMedia, to show tiff image, but it didn't work and I was unable to find suitable component to show pdf file.
    Is there anyone some can help me in showing tiff image and pdf file.
    Alice

    Correction, PDF is not required to be geneated, but displayed.
    Display PDF and tiff with af:objectImage ?

  • My files open and save two times

    Hi All,
    See my below script, when I run this script in my InDesign files within folders containing subfolders it open and save my folder files twice and subfolder files once.
    Could anybody please help me out why my folder files open and save twice. Subfolder code is working fine.
    Thanks,
    Mon
    See my below js code below.
    //my script starts
    var myFilePath = Folder.selectDialog("Please choose InDesign file folder");
    myFilePath = new Folder ([myFilePath]);
    myFilePathContents = myFilePath.getFiles("*.indd");
    mySubFolders(myFilePath);
    var myDocument = app.documents[0];
    for (var j = 0; myFilePathContents.length > j; j++) {
    app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.neverInteract;
    var myDocument = app.open(myFilePathContents[j]);
    app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.interactWithAll;
    var myDoc = myDocument.layers.item(0);
    myDoc.printable=false
    app.activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.yes);
    mySubFolders(myFilePath);
    function mySubFolders(theFolder) {
    var myFileList = theFolder.getFiles();
    for (var i = 0; i < myFileList.length; i++) {
    var myFile = myFileList[i];
    if (myFile instanceof Folder){
    mySubFolders(myFile);
    else if (myFile instanceof File && myFile.name.match(/\.indd$/i)) {
    myFilePathContents.push(myFile);
    //my Script end

    folder
    ├── a.indd
    ├── b.indd
    └── subfolder
        ├── c.indd
        └── d.indd
    Hi, I run your code to folder like above,it open documents such as
    "a.indd, b.indd, a.indd, b.indd, c.indd, d.indd"
    a and b open twice.
    so fix code
    myFilePath = new Folder (myFilePath); // remove bracket for 'myFilePath'
    myFilePathContents = new Array(); // remove getting .indd, they are added later in mySubFolders()
    mySubFolders(myFilePath); // remove 2nd mySubFolders(), why run twice?
    and then, run code and documents will open like
    "a.indd, b.indd, c.indd, d.indd"
