Save before putting

Each time I "put" a file, there is a prompt asking if I want
to "save before putting". Can I automate this so the the file is
automatically saved when I put a file? I can not seem ot find this
control in the preferences.
Thanks,
Tom

Sorry, hit the wrong key, preferences, site, about the
bottom, save on put..

Hi, no eMacs had G3s, only G4s. Is it maybe an iMac G3?

  • How do you set up a TIME-LAPSE movie "before" putting into CS5 ??

Is there a way to put together a time-lapse sequence shot with a DSLR (comprised of many stills) into a movie at 30fps, BEFORE putting it into the Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 timeline?
QuickTime does NOT work because the images I need to use are TIFFs of much too high a quality for it to handle.  I know, I've tried.
I know I can put the stills into CS5 as a series of shots lasting 1/30sec each to make a sequence, but that does not allow me to control the finished sequence "as a whole" for further altering like duration or other effects.  Otherwise, I would have to make alterartions one frame at a time, which is ridiculously time prohibitive and not precise.
I'm using a Windows7 PC, and a Nikon D2X DSLR camera shooting in RAW.
Any advise and help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

First of all, Pr won't import the RAW images, so you'll need to pre-process them and convert them to a more "standard" image file format, such as TIF or JPG. I think you already realize this, but thought I'd just mention it.
When you want to import as a timelapse clip, check the "Numbered Stills" checkbox in the Import dialog, and select just the first image in the numbered sequence and click Open. This will create a clip using each image as a frame of the clip; you can select this clip, right-click, and select Modify > Interpret Footage to set the frame rate you like. There is also a check-option in the flyout menu of the Media Browser called "Import Numbered Stills as a Sequence" that does the same thing; just select that, import the first image, and the rest of the images will be imported as part of the clip.
Once this is done, the images will act as one clip, so a single effect will affect all frames in the clip.

  • Prompt to save before scanning

When "creating a document from scanner" in Acrobat 8 Standard, I would be prompted to Save before the scanning began.  This isn't happening with Acrobat X Standard.  Is there a setting I can change in order to get this prompt?

Lori, Thanks for your reply.  I now have Acrobat X standard and that is where I'm not prompted to save before the scan starts.  What can you tell me about this version?

  • I want to install Mavericks on my new SSD before putting it in my MacBook Pro, is this possible?

I want to install Mavericks on my new SSD before putting it in my MacBook Pro, is this possible? If so how can I do it. My MBP can run and is running Macericks now on my HDD. I do not want to transfer my file, I would prefer a fresh install on my new SDD.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

Connect the SSD with an external enclosure. Boot the system holding down the Command and R keys to get to the Recovery partition. Partition and format the drive with Disk Utility, then install. You're done.

  • Unsaved Changes in File:[File name] Save before closing?

    Hello!
FM 9 on Win 7 Pro.
    I am a long-time FM user.
I am trying to open files that I could successfully open before I left work yesterday. I can open FM, and open FM books. When I try to open an FM in a book, or an FM file not in a book, I get this message:
"Unsaved Changes in File:[File name] Save before closing? Yes No Cancel.
It doesn't matter which one I pick (Yes, No, Cancel), FM next shows this message:
FrameMaker 9 Application has stopped working. Windows can check online for a solution to the problem.
Check online for a solution and close the program
    Close the program.
    View problem details
It doesn't matter what file I try to open (recently worked on files, and files I haven't touched for some time). Same messages, no matter what.
I have tried to update the book (the update seems to happen), saving the changes, and then try to open. Same error messages. I had hoped that updating the book would clear any possible cross-reference problems.
I have tried several re-boots, nothing works.
    Help!
Thanks in advance for any and all help!
    Terri

Since its happening with every file, my suspicion is that your application data is corrupted. Try this:
    close down framemaker.
    delete the following directory: C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\
reopen framemaker and see if the problem is reproducible.

  • I have a bad block. What and how do I save before reinitializing.

Tech Tools tells me that I have a bad block and need to reinitialize the HD. I have been told that all file information will be erased, while programs/applications will not be harmed, so I need to back up my User Profiles (my and my wife's). I have 2 questions:
    1. What else besides my user profile should I save (or, to put it another way, what files are NOT in my user profile, and where would I find them)?
    2. Once I have reinitialized the HD (supposedly the disc utility should guide me through this), will simply dragging saved user profile (from the thumb drive) onto the HD automatically reinstall all my settings? Must I laboriously redo each program's preferences?

In Disk Utility>Security options>Zero out data
Boot from the install disk > select language > DON'T select Continue > instead go to Disk Utility in the MenuBar at top.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24002
Don't know if this would help, but for the Mail issue, you could try "Rebuild" in Mailbox from Menu > (select the mailbox) > Rebuild
The AW problem might or might not be related to corruption from the bad blocks that weren't mapped out by zeroing out, or the data that was already corrupted earlier from those bad blocks. After you zero out, you could try re-installing AW. Realize, zeroing out will wipe your drive. If you do this, be ready to re-install everything.
Look over what Limnos wrote earlier. Zeroing and re-installing, clean as much as possible may prove to be the real solution.
Maybe the original damage was only minor, so, before you do this, you could first try repairing the drive (from Disc Utility booted from the disc, "Repair Disc.") Then, if everything is successful, when you are _booted back normally_, repair Permissions. Don't repair them booted from the disc. This might or might not resolve the problem with AW and Mail. At least, if these are the only issues you are experiencing, give this a try before taking the drastic step of a clean install, which involves a lot of work. You can always do this later if you keep uncovering new issues.
See how this goes first and post back with the results. If you take the zero out path, I think you will need to re-format the drive.
EDIT one more thing. You definitely don't want to zero the drive until you have some kind of clone/backup from which to move everything back, or you will lose all your data: mail, documents, music, etc.

  • How can I fix having to "save" before I can even open a PDF?

I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro (9.5.5) and when a recent update came thru I am no longer able to simply click and view the PDF sent, but now am required to save it before viewing.  Is there any simple way to correct this back to the old way?  I don't want to save everything on my computer; just the items I need.  Thanks

It sounds like an update to your e-mail (probably Outloook). You might consider trying a different e-mail client like Thunderbird. Another option might be to try a repair from the Help menu in Acrobat. There may also be a flag in your e-mail client for what application to use to open a PDF. Sometimes this is done based on the settings in MS Explorer. The latter can be checked by seeing if you can open a PDF by double clicking on it in Explorer.

  • Save before print with Reader?

I am now required to save a .pdf before I can print when printing from eBay, Google email. I have reinstalled Acrobat. I've tried the right-click to check security settings, but right clicking does nothing.

It's not a bug. Reader normally cannot save a modified document, and filling form fields is modifying the document. But you can enable certain features in Reader if you give the document usage rights. There are a number of usage rights that enable features in Reader that are not normally available, such as saving, commenting, submitting outside of a browser, and others.
You can grant certain usage rights to a document using Acrobat Pro 8 or 9, but there are licensing restrictions that go along with doing so. In particular, if you distribute the document to more than 500 recipients, then you can extract information from a maximum of 500 returned forms (including hardcopies). There is no limit to the number of returned forms you can process if you distribute the document to 500 or fewer recipients.
To avoid these limitations, you can use Adobe's LiveCycle Reader Extensions product to grant usage rights to your documents. This is a more expensive option and you'll have to negotiate directly with Adobe regarding pricing. A less costly alternative is to use the third-party service of FormRouter - http://www.formrouter.com/pdf/readerextensions.htm, who for a fee will enable individual documents for you.

  • Why do we get different "Save before exit" dialogs?

We have five developers with Word 2013 Professional Plus, 32-bit. When we close an unsaved document, three of us get one dialog and the other two get another.
Both dialogs ask "Want to save your changes to ...?"
One also says "If you click 'Don't Save', a recent copy of this file will be temporarily available.
    Learn more".
And the program behavior is different between the two after you click "Don't Save."  What do we have different?

This is before ever saving the file; even with a new blank document. Two of us have checked version numbers and they are identical (Office Pro Plus 2013, 15.0.4631.1000). The others should be since most of us installed from the same corporate distribution
installer. There are some COM add-in differences, like OneNote, but their presence or absence doesn't correlate with the different dialogs.
We checked a default install on a virtual machine, and it makes the score 4 to 2, with most getting the one having the extra verbiage.
Our dilemma is that for those with the more common dialog, after clicking "Don't Save," the BeforeSave event still fires in our VSTO add-in (and there is no clue we can find that the user clicked "Don't"). For those with the other dialog,
it doesn't fire then. It seems to me that BeforeSave should not be firing if there is no Save happening.
UPDATE: Which dialog shows toggles with the state of the "Keep the last autosaved version..." checkbox in the Save options.  Answer found.  Now about that BeforeSave thing.......?

  • Forcing the user to save before submit.

    Hi,
I need to force the user to save the form before submit.
How can I do that ? Please help.

    Hi,
You can use the dirty flag. If your users have Acrobat/Reader 9.1 or above then you could also use the cancelAction method (however this is a bit flaky in I think version 10.0).
For example, in the button's preSubmit event:
    if (event.target.dirty == true) {
         xfa.event.cancelAction = true;
You would also want to include a beep and/or messageBox warning to the user.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall

  • Can I make it so Pages "asks me" if I want to save before closing?

Can I set Pages to ask me if I want to "save" a document before closing it?  AppleWorks always used to ask me first before closing a document I was working on.  Is there a way to get Pages to do this, too?  Thanks.

No, Auto Save and Versions is a feature of Lion. Pages merely utilizes it. I don't care how many national primetime TV specials you've produced. I never called you stupid, but you are ignorant of Lion and OS X - OK?
If all you can do is gripe about it then don't post. I'm trying to help you understand but you seem just to want to argue about the past being better than the present. If you cannot use Snow Leopard then learn to deal with what you have.
I'll quit responding since you are becoming rude and argumentative. Sometimes you don't always "get your way."
