Save Encrypted mail on local drive

Hi All
I have an odd request from a user.
he wants to be able to unencrypt an encrypted mail, and then save it on a share. (for other colleagues to access)
The option to uncheck "Encrypt message contents and attachments" is greyed out in the encrypted mail.
He informs me that he could do this in the past.
the only solution right now is to forward the mail to himself, and then remove encryption.
is what he wants even possible?
Regards
Michael

I got it working, Installed Office 2010, and applied the following registry keys, this allows you to unencrypt the mail without forwarding to yourself:

  • How to save encrypted mail in decrypted form?

    This should not be so difficult on a Mac. Searching archives found a locked thread in 10.4 which was not properly resolved.
    How to to save an encrypted email in decrypted form?
    The wrong answer is to say, "You don't have to, only a certificate's ability to encrypt expires." As to why this is wrong, 1) I want to. And 2) Because the US Government in their infinite infallible wisdom deletes my prior certificate from CAC when issuing a new CAC. Can't copy certificates off a smart card.
    So once the integrity of the email has been verified I want to strip the encryption off so it will be accessible in the future and accessible without having to dig for the CAC, have a smart card reader, and have the necessary software installed.
    Using redirect shift-option-E to send the email back to myself only changed the certificate (to mine) but with the original From address so it was flagged as broken. All the while I thought I was forwarding it w/out encryption. And if thats not bad enough the original disappeared. The good news is a copy was left in my Send folder in the format desired, no encryption.

    Once the cert expires, you will no longer be able to use it to encrypt or sign mail. However, you can still use it to decrypt messages that you have received. Just leave it in your keychain, and everything will continue to work without changes. If you look at your keychain, you will see it listed, but marked expired.
    Likewise, other people that have the expired public key will be able to use that key to verify the signature or decrypt your messages; they will be notified as appropriate that the key has expired.
    If you do not want to spend money on a new cert, you may be able to get a free one from Thawte, or perhaps use the one available from Apple. Enable encryption in iChat, which generates a .Mac cert for you. Once that process has completed, open Keychain Access, go to preferences, and set "Search .Mac for certificates" and restart mail. That should allow you to use the iChat certificate for mail.

  • How to prevent user from saving file on local drives

    Hi,
       We have a file server set up on a Windows 2003 Server. Is there any way to restrict users so that they can only open and view the file but they can't save it on their local drives? If not, can this be done with Windows 2008 or 2012 or any Linux
    server or any document management software?
    Thanks,
    Jerry

    If you can open the file from a client then generally there is not much you can do to prevent them saving it locally. Unless you restrict the clients access to save anything at all on their local hard drive which depending of the security requirements of
    the data you are accessing could be a valid option.
    Depending how critical / sensitive that information you could look at alternate method of accessing that file. In my experience securing important / secret data comes down to access procedures just as much if not more than technical solutions.
    Maybe restrict access to that file to a handful of trusted users who can then inform the "untrusted" users of any information they need.
    Like I say this is a procedural issue as much as anything else.

  • Save Invoice at VF03 to local drive

    Hi
    I am able to view the invoice at VF03/VF02. I click on the billing document -> Issue Output To -> Print preview. What I need is to save the Invoice in my local drive as PDF format or any other viewable format.
    The Save function is disable to click.
    Please advise how I can save the Invoice into my local drive?
    Thanks
    Brandon

    Hi Brandon,
    If you have convert PDF software in your system, then you can do it using Print .
    When you go to VF03--> Issue output to--> Click on the print button (not the Print preview),
    then it will ask for the printer to select, there you should be able to see PDF converter in the dropdown,  select that and continue.
    Please let me know
    Thank,
    AV

  • I have a 15 year old account in Yahoo Mail I need to move to my local drive? How to..?

    I have 15 years of emails on Yahoo Mail I'm trying desperately to migrate to my local drives. Everytime I attempt to use Thunderbird in IMAP mode to download them it fails; everytime I attempt to use Thunderbird in POP mode, it fails. What am I doing wrong to achieve this goal with Thunderbird? I am getting desperate.. please advise. These Yahoo Mail emails cover more than one half of my entire career as an IT professional - and I can't even do this simple task. I'm beginning to question MY abilities as a professional. Sometimes we all need help.. and I need yours now. Thanks in advance...
    Thunderbird gets through about 40,507 emails - then just freezes; no errors; no interfaces disconnect (menus still work, etc.) but Task Manager says NOT RESPONDING? Yes I can gracefully exit Thunderbird and reenter Thunderbird to the same place ONLY? Weird.. I'm sure I have it setup wrong so I probably only need some guidance in setting it up as an INDUSTRIAL GRADE archiver which I know it was not meant to be.

    move them to different folders on yahoo using webmail.
    then you start Tbird and have your Yahoo-account set up as IMAP.
    one by one you subscribe to those folders, when one is downloaded move them to local folders. compact the old folder and subscribe to the next one.

  • Trying to save preferences to a network drive (no local drives available).

    I'm on a virtual desktop with no local drives.  Captivate 8 is telling me that I can't save Preferences, Projects, or Cache items to a network drive.  I have no choice in the matter.  Any ideas how I can get around this?  Thanks.

    You're stuck. The computer you are currently using is not suitable for running Captivate. You need to get one with local drives and which allows you to run the app as an administrator.

  • Unable to Save to local drives from Quickbooks RemoteApp

    We are using Quickbooks as a remoteApp in server 2012.  Local drives appear to be mapped correctly because I can see them from the app on a client computer.
    If I try to save a file to a users local drive from QB the drive will not open to show subfolders nor will a file save to the drive, but if I right click the drive and choose open in new window it will launch an explorer window and populate subfolders correctly
    so I know the drives are mapped in a way that the remote desktop session can connect to them, but the app can not "Save As" to these drives.
    At this point I think it's likely an issue within Quickbooks but I thought I'd see if anyone had seen this behavior before, or has any ideas.
    Thanks =)

    Hi,
    Have you tried using a drive mapping on the server?  For example, have G: mapped to \\tsclient\c ?  Then when the user tries Save As in QuickBooks they would browse to a subfolder on G:.
    To make it quicker/easier for them you could create a subfolder on their local C: like C:\QBooks, and map G: on the server directly to \\tsclient\c\qbooks or perhaps they can simply browse to G:\QBooks as needed.
    Unless the users have low latency and excellent bandwidth between them and the server you want to minimize the need for them to browse their local drive via their RemoteApp.  That is one of the reasons I recommend creating the subfolder right under
    C: on their local drive and/or mapping directly to a subfolder.  Another reason I recommend it is to avoid confusion for the user as well as them getting an Access Denied error if they attempt to save directly to the root of their C drive.

  • Cannot save to local drive in Numbers or Pages

    When attempting to name and save a document in Numbers or Pages, iCloud appears by default as the target folder. When I change it to my local drive and select the local target folder, the file name automatically changes to the target folder name and I can't save anything.
    Has anyone had this problem? Thanks for any help on this - sure looks like a bug to me.
    BTW, I'm running Mountain Lion/10.8.1 and up-to-date versions of Numbers and Pages...

    CMD-S now defaults to my local drive, but folder names are greyed out. If I click on one, then it tries to name the file with the folder name! Any ideas about that?
    Thanks again.

  • Is there a way to set up Mail to NOT save things on my hard drive?

    Hey,
    I like being able to check my personal email from my computer at work. I have a MobileMe (loooong time .mac user) and I find the MobileMe web experience to be abysmal. I'd like to use the Mail app on my computer, but I don't want it to save anything to my hard drive on my work computer. is it possible to do that?

    You must hit either button, then drag your finger down the screen from the top.

  • Form submission to client local drive?

    Hi -
    I've created a dynamic form that I've been using to have a small number of recipients submit back to me via email as a XDP file, but because of end-user difficulties getting this to work consistently I need to add a method to submit that will save the data to the end-user's local drive so they can drop it onto a shared Google folder.  Is there a submit button option that will open a save window that allows the user to browse to a location of their choice then save the XDP file under a name of their choosing  (like the similar step when emailing with a web email client not recognized by the email script)?  It needs to work with both Mac and PC and can't have a fixed 'save' location because the users' machines are all different.  I assume that once it's done I'll need to enable extended rights for Acrobat.
    I've tried to figure out a way to do this with a button click event "submit format="xml" textEncoding="UTF-8" target= " but can't find a way to specify "target" that will work, so I don't know if that script only works with the mailto: protocol.
    Thanks in advance,
    Bernie

    Hi Bernie,
    I don't think there is a submit option but you can try setting up you own button with a click event with this JavaScript.
    xfa.host.exportData("", false);
    This will give you the XML from the form.  If you want the whole XDP change the false to true.
    Regards
    Bruce

    Hi!
    Add the actual body right after the line, you have created the Multipart object.
    // create and fill the first message part
    MimeBodyPart mbp1 = new MimeBodyPart();
    mbp1.setText(this.text); //body of message
    Multipart mp = new MimeMultipart();
    // Adding the body
    mp.addBodyPart(mbp1);
    //adding attachments
    //... and so on...-Raine-

  • Using External HD as well as local drive for iTunes?

    So, I just got my brand spanking new 160GB Classic today. I have an external HD I have never set up but am thinking now is the time so I can load all of the music there and sync the iPod accordingly (as well as have a back up if I need to reset the iPod - I dont relish the idea of redoing 1600+ CDs). But, I also want to be able to use my local drive for when I make CD mixes. Am I going to foul something up setting up this way? IE, can I have the HD be the destination while loading up for the iPod, and then just change my iTunes preferences for when I want to use the local drive?
    First thing I did, thanks to the forum, was upload the firmware update. I am hoping to keep moving forward with minimum complication, though I am sure I will have more questions before I am done.
    TIA!

    I use my iPod classic auto-synching with an iTunes library split between my Macbook Pro and an external HDD, so perhaps I can help.
    *First, you should know the limitations of this setup*: When using your computer without the external HDD attached, you will not be able to create new playlists in iTunes using songs that are located on the external drive. As soon as you click a song entry in iTunes, it will put an exclamation mark icon next to the song, and iTunes will refuse to let you do anything with it (such as putting in a playlist, or modifying any song metadata). Once you reattach the external drive, you'll be good to go, and can modify any song metadata or add those songs to new playlists.
    The good news comes to use of the iPod. If you add songs to an On-The-Go playlist on your iPod, or change the rating of a song on the iPod, those changes will sync back to iTunes for the song file on your computer +*even if the the song is for a file located on the external HDD, and the external HDD is not currently attached.*+ Play counts will also synchronize back, and Smart Playlists affected by changes will update as well.
    In short, from iTunes you can only modify song metadata or add those songs to fixed playlists if the file is currently accessible by iTunes (so the external HDD must be attached). However, if you create an On-The-Go playlist on the iPod using external HDD songs, that playlist will be created in iTunes the next time you synch. Also, song ratings and play counts altered during iPod playback will be updated in iTunes on the next sync even if the song file is on the external HDD, and the external HDD is not currently attached. I hope that makes sense.
    *Setting up a split library:*
    1. Make sure the files you want stored on the external hard drive aren't currently in your iTunes library. If the files are not yet moved over to the external drive, do that now.
    2. Open up iTunes preferences, click on "Advanced," and under the "General" tab, make sure that "Copy Files to iTunes Music Folder" is not checked. Click the "OK" button to save the setting.
    3. Time to add the songs on the external hard drive to your iTunes library. Choose File -> Add To Library... (or just press Command+O), navigate to the folder on your external hard drive where your music files are stored, select that folder, then click "Choose". Entries for the songs will appear in your iTunes library, but the song files themselves will remain on the external drive.
    4. Keeping your external drive mounted, now is the time to add any songs to playlists that you'd like, or modify song metadata (fix spelling errors in artist names, etc.).
    5. Once everything is to how you currently want it, mount your iPod to your computer and let it synchronize (NOTE: your external drive must be mounted during this first sync to your iPod in order to transfer the files from it.)
    6. Once the iPod synchronization is complete, you can unmount your external drive. You can also re-enable the "Copy Files to iTunes Music Folder" preference setting at this time, if that's how you normally keep things (the files put on the external drive will not move over to your internal drive unless you use the "Consolidate Library" feature at some point in the future). Obviously, though, if you add files from an external HDD in the future - and want them to stay there - you'll need to temporarily disable this setting again.
    At this point, clicking on any song file in iTunes which is stored on the external drive will generate the aforementioned exclamation point icon, but the icon will disappear the next time the external drive is attached and iTunes is launched. Also, any iPod synchronizations in the future will generate a warning in iTunes that the song file could not be found on your computer (if the external HDD isn't attached). However, the file will remain on your iPod, and the placeholder entry in iTunes will remain as well (even if you are using automatic synchronization). If you don't wish to see the "can't find the file warning," there's a box you can check on the warning dialog to hide it in the future (to bring them back, control-click your iPod in the iTunes sidebar, and choose "Reset Warnings" from the menu that appears).
    So that's how it works. I've been using the split library system without a hitch for quite some time (with older iPods, and now my iPod classic). This way I'm able to keep massive video files and Apple Lossless files off the internal drive of my Macbook Pro, and yet I'm still able to keep those files on my IPod and do basic synchronization with the computer even when I'm away from the external hard drive. If I ever want to create new Playlists using those external HDD files, I either create On-The-Go playlists on the iPod, or just wait until I can have the external HDD attached to the computer.
    It works well for me, and perhaps it might for you, too.
