Save output from sql
Is it possible to save the output from a sql query which returns 260,000 rows? I can't save it with sqldeveloper. Five thousand lines were saved as a LST file in sqlplus and I cannot open it. How can I get the output from a sqlplus query saved as a csv file? What is the best method for saving the output?
Spool it to a file

Parametrized query with output from sql
Hey all,
has anyone figure out how to use the database connectivity toolset to perform a parameterized query with outputs (SQL)? From the other threads that i have read it would seem that this issue is not resolved. The error i get is:
Error -2147467259 occurred at Cmd Execute.vi->getjobID.vi
Possible reason(s):
Exception occured in Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers: [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-5.0.50sp1a-enterprise-gpl-log]OUT or INOUT argument 3 for routine eln.lv_caperJob_create is not a variable or NEW pseudo-variable in BEFORE trigger in Rec Create - Command.vi->Cmd Execute.vi->getjobID.vi
However, In Toad for mysql the following call works:
set @outJobID=-999;
set @outMsg="";
call lv_caperJob_create('TestJune30_2', '207', @outJobID, @outMsg);
select @outJobID, @outMsg
Attached is the LV code i am using. Thanks!
Attachments:
db code.JPG 50 KBYour first approach gave you an error because it took the ? parameter inside the '%?%' string and treated it as whole string as '%?%'. As you set the parameter, it did not understood where it need to insert the parameter.
Your second approach is pretty much OK, only problem is you are trying to set the parameter with a string and aging creating the string while setting the parameter.
The solution will be to create the whole string before setting the parameter and set the created String as parameter on the query something like this.
String parameter = "%"+searchString+"%";
Then set the parameter string to the query.

Save files from SQL DB and Sharepoint 2003
I am needing to save a bunch of files from our Sharepoint 2003 site. I have figured out that they are stored in an SQL database on the server. The only problem is, I honestly have no clue how to retrieve them. Help? Please?

How to Strip Extraneous Output from SQL*Plus Session
We are running Oracle Database 11g on Solaris 10, and I am trying to use SQL*Plus to create a temporary .sql file that I can execute in a later step of a Korn shell script. Here is the code:
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus / as sysdba <<EOF
--whenever oserror exit failure;
--whenever sqlerror exit sql.sqlcode;
set serveroutput on
set termout off
set trimspool on
set verify off
set heading off
set feedback off
set echo off
spool /usr/oracle/temp/apply_site_security_for_oracle_database_11g.ksh.tmp
declare
Value_DSC varchar2(2000);
CommandLine_DSC varchar2(4000);
begin
select v\$parameter.value into Value_DSC from v\$parameter where lower(name)='diagnostic_dest';
CommandLine_DSC := 'host chmod 751 ' || Value_DSC;
dbms_output.put_line('--Ready to execute: ' || CommandLine_DSC);
dbms_output.put_line(CommandLine_DSC);
CommandLine_DSC := 'host ls -ld ' || Value_DSC;
dbms_output.put_line('--Ready to execute: ' || CommandLine_DSC);
dbms_output.put_line(CommandLine_DSC);
end;
spool off;
exit;
EOF
I've tried to turn off everything I don't need, but I am missing something. When I run the script, I get the following in the temporary file:
SQL>
SQL> declare
2 Value_DSC varchar2(2000);
3 CommandLine_DSC varchar2(4000);
4
5 begin
6 select v$parameter.value into Value_DSC from v$parameter where lower(name)='diagnostic_dest';
7
8 CommandLine_DSC := 'host chmod 751 ' || Value_DSC;
9 dbms_output.put_line('--Ready to execute: ' || CommandLine_DSC);
10 dbms_output.put_line(CommandLine_DSC);
11
12 CommandLine_DSC := 'host ls -ld ' || Value_DSC;
13 dbms_output.put_line('--Ready to execute: ' || CommandLine_DSC);
14 dbms_output.put_line(CommandLine_DSC);
15 end;
16 /
--Ready to execute: host chmod 751 /s01/app/oracle
host chmod 751 /s01/app/oracle
--Ready to execute: host ls -ld /s01/app/oracle
host ls -ld /s01/app/oracle
SQL>
SQL> spool off;
I am hoping to whittle this down to just the following lines so I can execute them as a script.
--Ready to execute: host chmod 751 /s01/app/oracle
host chmod 751 /s01/app/oracle
--Ready to execute: host ls -ld /s01/app/oracle
host ls -ld /s01/app/oracle
Any ideas?
Edited by: shew01 on Jan 19, 2010 10:51 AMI just found it. Just add "-S" to the sqlplus command. Argh... I hunted for that a while back. Why didn't I remember it??????????
This works:
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus -S / as sysdba <<EOF
whenever oserror exit failure;
whenever sqlerror exit sql.sqlcode;
set serveroutput on
set linesize 2000
set pagesize 0
set termout off
set trimspool on
set feedback off
spool /usr/oracle/temp/apply_site_security_for_oracle_database_11g.ksh.tmp
declare
Value_DSC varchar2(2000);
CommandLine_DSC varchar2(4000);
begin
select v\$parameter.value into Value_DSC from v\$parameter where lower(name)='diagnostic_dest';
CommandLine_DSC := 'host chmod 751 ' || Value_DSC;
dbms_output.put_line('--Ready to execute: ' || CommandLine_DSC);
dbms_output.put_line(CommandLine_DSC);
CommandLine_DSC := 'host ls -ld ' || Value_DSC;
dbms_output.put_line('--Ready to execute: ' || CommandLine_DSC);
dbms_output.put_line(CommandLine_DSC);
end;
spool off;
exit;

SQL and PL/SQL FAQ -
Save results from sql worksheet
Hi,
Is there a way to save the results of worksheet to a tab-delimited text file which has the first line the column names?
I can copy and paste the results now, but they don't include the column names.
On text file save would be best to include all rows, not only the ones displayed in worksheet.
ThanksShould performance improve if the second statement uses bind variables for the date columns? Probably, it depends on how expense the parse is compared to the rest of teh query execution. But generally, if you've got hundreds of statements which are the same except for literals then it's usually a good idea to replace them with a statement that uses bind variables. The best thing to do is benchmark it.

JDev generated webservices encodes XML output from PL/SQL procedure
I have a PL/SQL packaged procedure which takes some input parameters and produces one output parameter. The output parameter is of type CLOB and after the procedure has run, it contains a big piece of XML data.
Using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1, I've published this packaged procedure as a webservice. The generated webservice is fine and works, except for one tiny little issue: the XML that is taken from the output parameter is encoded.
Here is an example of the SOAP message that the webservice returns:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xmlns:ns0="http://gbv0300u/GBV0300U.wsdl/types/"><env:Body><ns0:gbv0300uResponse
Element><ns0:result><ns0:obvglijstOut> & gt;type>GBV0001& gt ;/type& lt;
& gt;diensten& lt;
& gt;dienst>some value& gt;/dienst& lt;
& gt;/diensten& lt;
</ns0:obvglijstOut></ns0:result></ns0:gbv0300uResponseElement></env:Body></env:Envelope>
(I've manually added an extra space between the & and lt; or gt; to make sure a browser will not translate it into a < or >!)
The contents of the <ns0:obvglijstOut> element are filled with the output parameter from the PL/SQL package.
How can I change the generated webservice, so the output from the PL/SQL package is used as is instead of being encoded?Update: I've tested a bit more by adding some output statements to the java code that JDeveloper generated. I'm now 100% sure the PL/SQL code gives the XML data correctly to the webservice.
At this moment my guess is that somewhere in the WSDL definition there is something that enables the encoding of the data. But I'm not sure.
Any help is greatly appreciated. -
how can I save a page and all its component parts in a single file, like IE does as an MHT?
It's much easier for mailing to people where page address not available?? (as in output from an airline booking site, for example)
It is simply too painful to have to zip everything up into a single file to send. MHT format has been available for years now from IE, and with every new FF release it's the first thing I look for. I have been using FF for years, and hate having to come out of it, over into IE |(which I even took out of startup) and key everything in again, in order to send somebody something in a convenient format that they can open with a single click.
I can't believe this hasn't been asked before, so have you looked at it and rejected it? Have MS kept the file format secret?
Thanks
MGThis is not really an answer just my comments on your question.
I am sure I recollect efforts being made to get mhtml to work with FF.
Probably the important thing to remember about .mhtml is that if other browsers do support it they may need addons, and may not necessarily render the content correctly/consistently.
There are FF addons designed for archiving webpages, you could try them, but that then assumes the recipient has the same software.
You could simply save the page from FF to your XP pc; then offline open it with and save it using IE, before then emailing using FF, and attaching the .mht or mhtml file that you have now created on your PC.
As an alternative method, in some cases it could be worth considering taking a screen grab of the required page, then sending that to the recipient as a single email attatchment using either a bitmap or jpeg file format for instance.
Something such as an airline booking may be designed with a print option, possibly it could be worthwile looking at sending the print file itself as an email attachment. -

Pass output from PL/SQL proc back to ODI for logging
Hi,
In ODI (10g), is there any way to pass output from a PL/SQL procedure back to the calling stage?
I am working on the run time of a batch, one part of which calls a procedure and so currently black box.
I'd like to instrument the proc so that I can see in Operator some kind of timed activity so that I can profile its activity better.
The best I've had suggested so far is to write out to file from the procedure and then use ODI to parse this and spit it out in the stage log. I don't like this approach for two reasons:
1) Our DBAs quite rightly get very itchy with the privs required for writing to files, and another app to read from the same
2) It's messy :)
Any ideas?
thanks, Robin.Robin
I don't know ODI. However if you are calling a stored proc procA and you have control over what you call, at the very least you could write a wrapper procB as
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE PROCB (parms)
AS
BEGIN
SYS.DBMS_MONITOR.SESSION_TRACE_ENABLE();
MYUSER.PROCA(parms);
SYS.DBMS_MONITOR.SESSION_TRACE_DISABLE();
END;
/ If ODI sets service,module and action (as it should) then you could ask the DBA to set SERV_MOD_ACT_TRACE_ENABLE instead.

Output from pl/sql procedure
The output from my pl/sql block is not being captured in the spool file. This would help to debug.
Thanks in advance...You have to put "set serveroutput on" if you use package dbms_output or check you path for spool file

Generating XML from SQL queries and saving to an xml file?
Hi there,
I was wondering if somebody could help with regards to the following:
Generating XML from SQL queries and saving to a xml file?
We want to have a procedure(PL/SQL) that accepts an order number as an input parameter(the procedure
is accessed by our software on the client machine).
Using this order number we do a couple of SQL queries.
My first question: What would be our best option to convert the result of the
queries to xml?
Second Question: Once the XML has been generated, how do we save that XML to a file?
(The XML file is going to be saved on the file system of the server that
the database is running on.)
Now our procedure will also have a output parameter which returns the filename to us. eg. Order1001.xml
Our software on the client machine will then ftp this XML file(based on the output parameter[filename]) to
the client hard drive.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanking you,
FrancoisIf you are using 9iR2 you do not need to do any of this..
You can create an XML as an XMLType using the new SQL/XML operators. You can insert this XML into the XML DB repository using DBMS_XDB.createResource. You can then access the document from the resource. You can also return the XMLType containing the XML directly from the PL/SQL Procedure.
