• I upgraded to Adobe Reader X 10.1.3, why cant I save .pdf now, Win XP Pro

I upgraded to Adobe Reader X 10.1.3.
Now I can't save pdfs to disk.
It is always telling me disk full or protected.
I am using XP pro with full admin rights.
Reading boards here I see no Firefox support so I even tried IE 8 thinking maybe browser. Nope same deal.
Ahh wait let's try saving to other folders on c:\drive no, let's try usb stick, that works. But don't always have stick.
would like to save to my pdf specific file on c:\drive
Any ideas?

Thanks for trying the steps! It does not seem to be a permission issue.
1. Were you able to save this PDF via the normal route that you follow i.e. saving the PDF after rendering the same.?
2. For any file with which you are facing this error, can you try changing the name of the file to something else and see if you face the same issue?
3. Does the Save As feature work in the Standalone Reader application?
4. Please try and delete all folders (or atleast whatever is possible) from C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0 (Assuming you installed the program in the default location). Now repair the installation from within the Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
It would be great if you could also let me know which Antivirus software are you using. Does disabling the same help?

• Unable to save PDF's from Internet Explorer. Error "The document could not be saved. The disk you were saving to or the disk used for temporary files is full. Free some space on this disk and try again, or save to a different disk."

We are currently in a published desktop environment in Citrix XenApp 6.5.  Server is running on Windows 2008 R2.  Users are not able to save PDF's into the redirected folders (ie Desktop or My Documents).  Exactly same issue described in "The disk you were saving to or the disk used for temporary file is full...."  Anyone has any suggestion??

Same problem here. Any ideas?

• Save as Photoshop PDF Scratch disk locked?

I searched  the forums, but apparently my issue only crops up when someone tries to launch PS. I can launch and do everything else just fine; however, I attempted to save as > PDF and received the scratch disk locked message. I can successfully save as PDF if I use the launch as admin option, but this seems odd since I can do everything else just fine without the need to do that.
Here are my steps:
Save as > Photoshop PDF
Click OK on "The settings you choose in the Save Adobe PDF dialog can override your current settings...."
I change nothing in the Save Adobe PDF dialog. I simply click Save PDF.
Select Yes for "Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities" in the prompt.
Here is where I get the error message.
"Could not open a scratch file because the file is locked, you do not have necessary access permissions, or another program is using the file. Use the 'Properties' command in the Windows Explorer to unlock the file."
At this point, Photoshop does not crash or exit. It just simply will not save the file. This is the first time I've tried to save as  PDF, so it could just be a user error > replace user situation. :d
I have tried the CTRL + Shift + Alt method of launching to wipe my preferences only to have the same result. My scratch disk is an internal drive used only as storage with 1.30 TB available.
Photoshop CS6 Extended
Windows 7 64bit
User account is an admin, but I have never had a need to launch PS as an admin specifically.
Thanks in advance.

Checked my permissions on C:\Users\***\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings and everything is fine.
Taking that info and some google work I came across this: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/WS23B45D06-1977-4006-8BEB-2DBB08CA502Ea.htm l#WSA79FA899-BC95-401e-BD44-5B26BC31B369
Apparently, there should be PDF settings files in C:\Users\***\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe PDF\Settings; however, my folder was empty, but the article above also says to move them from an 'Extras' folder located within ProgramData. Copied the settings over, tried again, same result.
Am I supposed to have Acrobat installed for this to work properly? I don't have Acrobat, nor do I even use Reader (I use a different program for in-browser PDF).
//edit
Apparently it was in my settings on the PDF save dialog. I removed the settings that I moved over and tried again. This time I actually fiddled with the settings and used Smallest File Size instead of HQ Print, and that seemed to have worked. Messed with things some more, and narrowed it down to the Preserve Photoshop Editing Capabilities option. As long as that option is UN-checked, then everything works smoothly, including HQ quality.

• Is anyone else having problems with saving PDFs to disk?

Recently, I have not been able to download and save PDF files on my iMac. Every time I download a file it is blank. The problem started several weeks ago and I thought at the time that the file was somehow protected. However, I successfully did a download and save to my old iMac G4 without a problem and opened it in Acrobat Professional 7, copied the file over to my Intel iMac with OSX 10.8.2 and opened the file successfully in Acrobat 10.
Here are Acrobat specs
Architecture: i386
Build: 10.1.5.33
AGM: 4.21.25
CoolType: 5.8.121
JP2K: 2.0.0.26663
ADM: 10.01x33
The same problem exists on my MacBookPro running identical software and OS as my Intel iMac.
I faithfully upgrade my Mac OS software with each new release and do the same with my Adobe Suite software. The problem has to reside with the OSX 10.8.2 since things work normally on my old iMac G4.
Does anyone know of a fix for this? I'm not going through the uninstall and reinstall process without exproring all avenues first.
Dan

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't work...
To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
Does it work in the new account?

I am unable to save forms that have editable fields. I get the error "The document could not be saved. The disk you were saving to or the disk used for temporary files is full. Free some space on this disk and try again, or save to a different disk"
I am running windows xp, and started with reader 10.1.4 having this issue, now i upgraded to 11 and same results. My co workers can save the same form and i have over 80 gb of free space on my hard drive which is where i am saving it to. I have tried saving it to other locations on my hard drive but get the same message. I can however save pdf files that have no fillable forms in them just fine.
I could really use some help.
Thanks

Figured out prtected mode was set to enabled on startup. Turned that off and no more problems.

• My Adobe Acrobat will no longer let me save PDF documents

I own the Adobe Creative Suite 4 that comes with Adobe Acrobat, which for years has allowed me to save PDF documents. Last month I decided to test Adobe Acrobat Pro for 30 days to see how well it converted PDF documents, and have since decided against it. I did not subscribe or buy a license for it and would like to be able to use my old version of Adobe Acrobat to save PDF documents, but it no longer allows me to do so. I re-installed it from the disk but it still won't let me save PDF files. I do not want to purchase a program that I already have just to be able to save PDF documents and would like to know how to get mine to work again. I work on a Mac.
Thank you to anyone that can help me.

Hi Sara,
the Suite comes with Adobe Acrobat, and I've had it for a few years, I paid full price for the suite. However, it seems that after I downloaded the new Acrobat Reader the old one no longer shows up for me to show you the issue. The new one works. And I think it is very odd that it did that as well. My guess is that the trial version of Pro that I downloaded to test out messed with the old version I had, and it refused to let me use it for a while, then I was able to force it to come up but the "Save" option was just NOT highlighted as an option. I was even having a difficult time downloading the regular version of Adobe Acrobat up until today, after I posted on this website. Every time I tried it said it couldn't because I already had a version in my computer. But today it allowed me. Very bizarre. A definite glitch I think. Anyhow, I don't think we can proceed because I can't get my old version up, the new one probably wrote over the old one. So...thank you again for your interest, I really appreciate it.

I have just upgraded to OSX 10.6.8 and now I cannot open or save PDF files from the internet using either Safari or Firefox. I get a dialogue box saying the QuickTime plugin has failed. Can anyone help?

Is this what you downloaded: iTunes 10.7?
When the update fails what if any error report do you get, specifically? Please do this before trying again:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

• Overwrite files BUG! Save PDF to Web Receipts Folder

In Safari, I will often want to save receipts of bank transactions. So I hit Command-P to print, then in the PDF menu button, I'll choose "Save PDF to Web Receipts Folder."
When I look in my Web Receipts folder, it has saved the file, but if there was already a file there with that file's name, the old one is replaced by the new one. I found this out the hard way, as my bank's page title is always "National Bank," and Safari uses the page title as the file name. So instead of accumulating receipt PDFs there, I merely had the most recent one.
This is certainly a bug: the Mac shouldn't be overwriting files without telling me. If it's going to save PDFs in the Web Receipts folder, then I should have the option to choose a name or approve the name that it generates from the HTML title.

Yes I agree this is an intentional bug.
Other things you can do to get around this issue:
1) Disable the "Save PDF to Web Receipts.workflow" located at /Library/PDF Services. This is at the root level of your disk and you will need Admistrator level authority to accomplish this task.
2) After you disable the workflow you could build your own without the: "with replacing" (save file) option enabled in the script. However, I believe this will not work, as you are already in a dialog box (printer), and the script will generate an error, and prompt a dialog box for you to enter a new name. I am not sure if this is the conduct, as I do not use this workflow or "feature."
3) After you disable (or just plain not use) the above workflow: Instead create a folder in your Home Directory called "Online Receipts" or whatever memorable name you like. You can place this folder anywhere.
Next, navigate to ~/Library/PDF Services (that is the folder in your Home folder, not at the root level as in (1) above. If this folder is not there, create it.
Next create and drag an alias of your "Online Receipts" folder into this PDF Services folder.
The next time you pull up a print dialog, and hit the PDF button, you will see this newly created folder in the menu. Just select it to save a PDF of your document to it. Files with identical names will be handled by the Finder's naming convention: (eg. file.pdf, file 2.pdf, file 3.pdf, etc.) and no files will be overwritten.
I hope this helps,

• "Save PDF to folder as JPEG.workflow"

...is now missing from my library/PDF services folder.
I use Aperture to design my books, which I have printed by Asuka and other vendors. I set up workflows to export the books at the appropriate DPI (271 for Asuka, 300 for the flush mount albums I do).
When the the JPEG's weren't showing up in the folder I tried to save to I checked my Library/PDF services folder to find the "Save PDF to folder as JPEG.workflow" missing.
Should I re-install Aperture from the disk? If I do so how will it affect my library?
Thanks

Installing Aperture again will not affect your library, so there is no risk doing that.

• Save PDF to folder as JPEG Error

This is happening in Aperture, and other programs too.
When I try to use "Save PDF to folder as JPEG", the export begins, but when it comes to the pop up box that copies the files onto the desktop an error message indicates there has been a problem with ""the action "retrieve disk element references" encountered an error."
The script "Save PDF to folder as TIFF" works great... but that isn't suitable for albums.
Any thoughts??? I found others that had the problem, but no solutions...

I am also having this issue but with TIFF's.

• Save pdf to folder as JPG fails

I have completed the update process so I am running Yosemite and Aperture 3.6
When I try to use the automator work flow that was installed with Aperture (Save pdf to folde as JPG) , I get an error message that "Retrieve Disk Item References encountered an error"
The workflow will work from another user account and the similar workflow for saving PDF to folder as TIFF works just fine.  I have tried reinstalling the workflow from a backup but it still fails.  Any idea how to get this working back to normal?

I got it fixed with 2 rounds of cache cleaning and pref file removal.  My computer thinks it is 4 in the afternoon and all the menus are in Swedish, but its all good!

• Problem with iPhoto save pdf to folder as jpeg

Hello,
I made a card in iphoto '11 and when i want to transfer it to folder as jpeg it shows that cannot find Store Disk Item References. I think i need a workflow like "save pdf to jpeg" but i don't know where can i find this.
I use mountain lion.
Thanks
John

Here's one way to convert get each page of the card to a 200 dpi or 300 dpi jpeg file.
First go to the card mode, right click on a page and select Save as PDF from the contextual menu.  Once you have a pdf file of
1 - open the pdf file in Preview.
2 - type Command+P to start the print process.
3  - click on the PDF button and select "Save PDF to iPhoto".
Note:  If you don't have any of those options go to Toad's Cellar and download these two files:
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Save PDF to iPhoto 200 DPI.workflow.zip
Unzip the files and place in the HD/Library/PDF Services folder and reboot.
4 - select either of the files above (300 dip is used for photos to be included in a card, book, etc. that will be ordered).
5 - in the window that comes up enter an album name or select an existing album and hit the Continue button.
That will create a 200 or 300 dpi jpeg file of the item being printed and import it into iPhoto.
Now you can export the jpeg files out of iPhoto via File ➙ Export ➙ File Export  with Kind = Original to get the high resolution files that you want.

Hi Shamila,
As i think urs basic aim is to upload a save pdf form to the webdynpro application...so just go through the following link

Do the same thing by different procedure means first create the pdf from with the help of following tutorials

• 7.0.4 won't save PDF

This is clearly a local problem as I can't reproduce it on a nearby iMac operating off the same network/OS version. In short, every attempt to Save As or Export a PDF when displayed in a Safari window produces a zero K file without any warnings. If at the same site and same file I choose Develop>Open Page With>Firefox 29.0.1, I can download the PDF just fine. Note this is only a problem with downloading PDF files thru an embeded link. Chosing File> Export as PDF works fine on any non-PDF page. I also can't find anyway to get a PDF link to do anything but open in Safari. Again a change in behavior. I've examined Safari's preferences where the only mention of downloading is where to put it. I also haven't changed any settings. I don't have the current Adobe Reader set to render web pages though I do have Acrobat X 10.1.10. Again it's not called by Safari
I installed Mavericks late but did not have this problem before the 10.9.3 update. I suspect some sort of preference/setup screw up but am uncertain where to go. Perhaps a Safari>Reset Safari is in order?
Thanks for any insight,
Robert
2010 Mac Pro, dual quad 2.4GHz, max RAM

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and check the box marked
Allow Plug-ins
Then click
Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
/Library/Internet Plug-ins
In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.
