Save PSE organizer data before a clean OS install?

I'm going to do a clean OS install next month when Windows 7 comes out. However, I do not want to lose my organizer data (keywords tags, stars, comments, etc). I understand that PSE stores this kind of data in a database file or 2. Can I save this file(s) before the clean OS install so when I reinstall PSE, all this info for my photos/videos will still be associated with my photos/videos?
(Please note: I am planning on saving my photos exactly where they were before I do the clean install. This way my old organizer database file(s) can find the photos that are referenced in the DB file(s).)
Is there any instuctions on a webpage on how to do this?

In PSE 7, each catalog is stored in a separate folder containing mulitple files and subfolders. You can find the location of the current catalog folder by doing Help > System Info.  Be sure to save the entire catalog folder, not just the "catalog.pse7db" file.   With PSE 7, you can place that folder anywhere you'd like (not true with PSE 6).
When you copy everything to the new system, if the disk containing your photos is not the same exact disk (e.g. an external hard drive) as on your old system, make sure that it has the same drive letter as in your old system.   Otherwise, all the files in your catalog will be marked missing, and you'll have to struggle with reconnecting them.

  • Save Organizer data

Hi, I have to make a New Installation of XP with formating C-drive.
All my pictures is stored on another disc (about 6000 pic).
How do I prepare before formating to save all organizer information such tags, dates and other information.
    Thanks for any advise.
    Thomas

Default location of catalog files is:
    "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Catalogs"
Backup this folder, and maybe also "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Catalog Folders". This folder is not that important because it contains only cache files that will be rebuild by Organizer.
For those who will need to move their pictures files also those should be copied to the exact same destination as before, to avoid missing links in Organizer.

  • Photoshop Elements 11 Organizer: Full screen view of lower quality than with PSE 10 and before?!

Upgrading from PSE 10 to 11, I noticed that when I watch my images with the organizer in PSE 11 in full screen view mode (F11), while the images load faster, they are shown in a lower quality than in PSE 10 or any other version of PSE that I owned before. In PSE 11, after the initial viewing in full screen (in the "fit screen" mode), when I click with the mouse on an image to display the "100%" view, there is a delay and the program says "Loading...", after which the 100% view in the full screen mode appears. When I then click another time with the mouse on the image to get back to "fit screen" mode, I get an image of better quality than during the initial view!
So it seems like the program first gives a faster, but lower quality view of the image in full screen mode, and only after the user requests a 100% view, it actually loads the image with full detail, which is then preserved when going back to the "fit screen" view. This is a serious issue for me, because I also use PSE organizer to present my pictures to other people, and I don't want to show them some lower quality versions of my images, but the full quality ones, without having to first choose "100% view" and then go back to "fit screen".
How can I make the PSE 11 organizer give me a full-quality full screen image right away, as this used to be the case in PSE10 and before?
(I have both versions, PSE 11 and PSE 10, now on the same computer and tested this to confirm that the PSE 11 initial full screen view is of lower quality than the PSE 10 one. Also in PSE 10, there is practically no delay for displaying the "100%" view afterwards, indicating that the image was loaded with full detail right away.)

    - Update:
    * Adobe's senior support level has replied to me about this issue as follows:
    "Thank you for contacting Adobe.
When you press the F11 button, Organizer 11 uses the Bicubic
interpolation mainly because it is less processor intensive compared to
Bicubic Sharper, and it helps to create the preview on the fly, rather
than based on the thumbnail cache.
When you zoom out from the 100% view, Elements Organizer uses Bicubic
Sharper. This is because Bicubic Sharper is used for image reduction, so
if the 100% view is larger than the available screen space, it will need
to shrink. The Bicubic Sharper images may look more crisp however, Like
any sharpening algorithm, Bicubic Sharper introduces halos and
edge-enhancement artifacts. Those halos are typically slight, but any
further sharpening (which you'll need when preparing an image for print,
for example) will exaggerate them. This is expected behavior. The
Organizer isn't great for determining exact quality, I recommend you to
use Elements Editor for this purpose.
    Thank you,
    Bobby Johnson,
    Adobe Technical Support."
    * My reply on this to Adobe is:
    "Hello Bobby,
thank you for your reply. Now at least we are talking about the same thing.
Why I am wondering about the choice to use the "Bicubic" algorithm when pressing F11 in PSE 11 is that all previous versions of PSE that I owned (which spans from PSE 6 to PSE 10) did use the "Bicubic Sharper" algorithm right away when pressing F11. So apparently Adobe didn't worry about processor intensity of this algorithm then, and computers are getting all the time more powerful.
It is true that in some situations, the "Bicubic Sharper" algorithm may introduce halos and edge-enhancement artifacts, as you write. On the other hand, especially on smaller resolution screens, the results of the "Bicubic Sharper" algorithm may look more crisp and lively, while the ones of the "Bicubic" algorithm may look more flat and lack fine detail. This is not only my personal opinion, but as I have brought up this topic in several forums, I can see that I am not alone here.
So assuming that the question about preferring "Bicubic Sharper" or "Bicubic" as a default algorithm when pressing F11 is partly a matter of taste, and partly a matter of the hardware the user has available, why can Abobe not give the user an option to choose which one he/she would prefer? For instance, F11 gives full screen view with "Bicubic" applied, and CTRL+F11 with "Bicubic sharper"? Or make this an option in the preferences?
As I am using the PSE organizer also to present pictures to other people (and I know many people who use it that way too), I would like to show them my pictures as sharp and detail-rich as possible. Therefore, I would highly appreciate an option as described above to be implemented in the PSE 11 organizer via an update. It should be fairly easy from a programming point of view, since both algorithms are already contained in the program anyway."
    * If you support this suggestion of mine as stated above, please also contact Adobe accordingly! The more support requests they get for this, the more likely it is that they will implement this update! You may mention my case number 0184046323 for reference.

  • How can read BOM component date before save the production order??

    Hi Experts,
In our company, we need to develop a program to read the BOM component data of the production order
before we save the production order.
That for example ,when we create and release a production order , before we save the production
order,we want a porgram to read the BOM component data. If some component data can meet our
requriement (may be if there is material requirement quantity>100 EA),then the system will pop up a
small dialog box to remind us.
There is user exit PPCO0007 and PPCO0007.But it seems they only can read the head data of the
production order before we save the production order. And the BOM component data of the production
order are saved in the RESB(Reservation Table). So if we do not save the production order, all the BOM
component data are not saved in the RESB table.
So how can slove the problem??
How can read component date before save the production order??
Are there any other user exit we can use???

Hi Just wanted to check am I right that you are trying to check if you have enough Materials Available before you release or Save the order right ? if this is your business objective then when you create order you have material availability tab which checks and gives error if shortage is there. Please let me know if is this wht you asking for ?

No the phone will not do anything other than give me a message I need to Restore it. When I slide it over to unlock it, it just goes to the emergency call screen. I called Apple and they said its all gone. But I'm going to take it to a store just for the heck of it. In case there is something I'm missing. Thanks so much for all the advice and support. • Restoring Elements 8 Organizer data

I'm asking this question on behalf of my parents, who are not highly computer literate.  They use Elements 8 Organizer to keep track of their extensive photo collection, including those of professional art work and many overseas trips.  In April their computer locked up due to a virus and had to be reinstalled from the Windows 7 OS up.  All of their photos had been backed up with Norton 360, but apparently they did not have a mirror of their hard drive--only documents and settings.  Consequently, when Elements 8 was reinstalled, they no longer had the organization of the photos as before.  I am trying to determine if there is a data file somewhere on the hard drive that captures Organizer's folders, tags, etc., by reference, and if that was possibly in the folders that were backed up.  If so, I would think I could just replace the current Organizer data file with their old one, as all the photos have been restored to their original positions in My Pictures.  Can anyone provide the pathway to this file or set of files so I can determine whether or not they can get their original organization back?  Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

The organizer stores its data in catalogs.
Physically, catalogs are folders (one folder per catalog) containing the main component, a sqlite database named 'catalog.pse8db' as well as several other components such as the thumbnail cache.
By default the catalogs are stored in 'hidden folders' in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\catalogs.
When you are in the organizer, you find the exact location of the current catalog in the Help menu, System Info.
So, do a search for 'catalog.pse8db' on the old drive.
If you can find it (make sure by its size that it's not a new empty catalog), you can copy the whole folder either in that same location in the new computer or anywhere else.
Double clicking on that catalog.pse8db file should open the organizer with this catalog.
Your problem will be that the organizer will recognize that the drive identification has been changed and show all thumbnails as 'missing'. For the organizer, the drive is defined not only by its letter, but also by the internal serial number of the drive.
So, you'll have to use the 'reconnect' function of the organizer so that the organizer finds the real location and updates the database.

  • Calendar sync stopped working: "Unable to process organizer data"

I'm trying to help a consulting client whose Blackberry Q10 stopped synchronizing calendar data 5 days ago. It looks like that's the only thing he synchronizes with his desktop. I've tried looking up answers, but I've found very little information about this problem, and the few suggestions I found have not worked.
    Phone: Blackberry Q10
    Model#: SQN100-2
    Software Release: 10.1.0.4189
    Blackberry Link Release: 1.2.1.31
Symptoms: After clicking on the Sync Contacts/Calendar button, Blackberry Link sits for a very long time on the "Syncing your contacts and calendar appointments. Do not disconnect your device." screen, with sporadic activity on the progress meter, before being returned to the Sync Contacts and Calendar Appointments screen. In the lower left, a warning message "Sync was unsuccessful" is displayed. When I click the Show Recent Activity link under that, a Recent Activity screen that repeats "Sync was unsuccessful" along with a second message, "Unable to process organizer data" appears.
Is there a way to resolve this short of restoring the phone to factory defaults? The calendar data on my client's phone has now gone 5 days without being synced, and he doesn't want to lose the latest changes.

HipsterZ10, I didn't mean to suggest that you aren't entitled to gripe, only that doing so in response to a post on a community support forum isn't particularly useful. (Do BlackBerry support teams even monitor this forum?)
You sound like someone who knows his way around BlackBerry very well, and I would love to do some brainstorming with you if you're so inclined. I have nowhere near as much BlackBerry experience as you have, but I have worked in many areas of computing support for over 25 years. I'd like to think that between the two of us - plus anyone else who can chime in with something constructive - we can come up with something that helps us all out,.
    With that in mind:
You've tried uninstalling and reinstalling without success. Did you just uninstall and reinstall the latest version of BlackBerry Link, or did you try uninstalling the latest version and going back to one that used to work? (Or did you try upgrading because the previous version stopped working?)
Did you try any direct edits to the Registry to clean out any BlackBerry settings that the uninstall program might've left behind? Uninstallers are often not kept up to date as software developers make changes to software, so they often leave digital detritus in the Registry. This usually has no effect on anything else, but can prevent software that was uninstalled from working properly when it's reinstalled.
You also mention that you've tried a lot of settings changes. Would you please share with us the settings changes that you made?
I know from other companies' devices that updates to the Windows software is sometimes accompanied by firmware or programming changes on the device. Does anyone know if that's the case for BlackBerry Link updates? If it is, then simply uninstalling BlackBerry Link may not be enough.
Have you been unable to sync only the calendar, or your contacts as well? (I don't know what else BlackBerry Link can synchronize.) My client has only been trying to sync his calendar. If the problem is confined to calendar sync, is there maybe a cleanup procedure that needs to be run on the device or on the Windows side to clean up old appointments every now and then? I know of other products that will fail to sync their calendars if there's too much old data.
Finally, does BlackBerry Link just sync the BlackBerry device with itself, or does it sync it with Outlook? That wasn't clear to me the last time I was in my client's office; he uses Outlook 2003, but I wasn't certain if BlackBerry Link was connected with it in any way. Come to think of it, my client also uses Windows XP, which does not come with the .NET framework by default. Some commercial software depends on particular versions of the .NET framework, and I've seen situations in which Microsoft updates to the .NET framework breaks 3rd party software. Does BlackBerry require .NET, and, if so, does it try to install the version it needs? To sum these things up, we could be looking at lack of support for older versions of Windows, Outlook  or the .NET Framework.
Those are some ideas; let's see if we can narrow down the list. I should be back at my client's office on Monday, but if anyone else has time to try any of this today, kindly post what you discover here.

  • Can anyone demystify the PSE Organizer catalog backup options?

I need to backup my catalog--preferably just my catalog, not all my pictures (the picture files themselves are already backed up). More accurately, I would like my automated online backup service (Carbonite) to back up my PSE Organizer catalog for me, just as it has already backed up my pictures. But the catalog is in some caddywompus location that Carbonite doesn't back up by default. I think I can manually override Carbonite's default settings and tell it to back that location up anyway, if I only knew where and what files to look for.
If I click on Help > System Info..., PSE tells me my catalog is located in C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\clayscatalog. It doesn't go all the way to the file level, just down to that last folder, which shares the name of my catalog. But I have no idea which file inside of that folder is my catalog, or what to backup. Inside that folder called clayscatalog, there are the following items:
    BreezeData(folder)
    CAXMPFiles(folder)
    syncdb(folder)
    backupCt.dat
    catalog.pse9db
    collstatus.dat
    face.thumb.9.cache
    itemData.mk4
    rmf.3.cache
    tagstatus.dat
    thumb.5.cache
    watch.2.cache
Which of these files/folders should I be targeting for backup, all of them? And which would I browse to find in order to restore my catalog if my computer ever crashed and I needed to do a restore? Assuming all my photos are backed up and able to be restored to the same folder hierarchy, I assume one of these files/folders is going to have that information and be able to restore everything easily, preserving all my photo ratings, captions, tags, etc., right?
It would seem to make sense for the PSE to offer the option when you choose Backup from the file menu to back up all your catalog data only, as opposed to only having the option to backup everything, including all the picture files. Because I'm sure many people, like me, already have their picture files backed up and don't have need for that. Any guidance on this would be much appreciated.
    Clay

    First, short answer : the catalog consists in the whole folder you found. All those files are used in the organizer, but the .cache files which may have a big size will be regenerated by the organizer if they are deleted. The problem is this operation may be very long, so you will be better if you save everything;
If you use the backup and restore feature in the Organizer, you'll only have only to tell the restore process where your backup (of everything, files and folders) is located.

  • Disable Organizational Data in VA01 Screen

    Dear all,
Is there any way to disable the organizational data in VA01 from being populated automatically?
The organizational data (Sales Area, Sales Office, Sales Group) will be populated based on the entries of the respective fields in a previous transaction. For example, when user runs a report and enters Sales Office X as a search criteria, the next time he/she runs VA01, Sales Office X will be populated in VA01. The issue here is that a lot of our SOs' sales office have been wrongly assigned, and causing reporting discrepancy.
The users have already been informed to take extra care when creating SOs in the future, however I'm wondering if is there any way to prevent this from happening in SAP? Or is there a workaround recommended? I have searched around but haven't come to much.
Hopefully somebody could guide me. Thanks!
    Regards,
    Xien

    Hi Xien
Let's say in the initial screen of VA01, you enter the sales order type. Then under the organizational data box, you enter a sales office. Then when you insert the sold-to party later, even though the sales office assigned to the customer is different from what you entered previously, the system will still retain the sales office and will not pick up from the master data.
FOr your requirement, you can user USEREXIT_SAVE_DOCUMENT, such that before save the sales order, program will check for sales office and parameters enter in sales order with that of customer master. If customer master data is not reflecting in sales order then replce it or display error message, as per your requirement.

  • How to verify that the user has changed table row data before db update

    Hi all,
Iam using Oracle ADF with EJBs.
I have a single selection table that displays rows of data returned from a function of my data control.
The columns of my table are editable so that the user can change the data. The user selects a row, changes the data in one or more columns of the row and saves the data by means of a submit button. The code in the submit button, identifies the row of the corresponding iterator that the user clicked on and updates the data in the database (using the 'mergeEntity' function of the EntityManager)
Before saving the data, I want to put some logic to check whether the user has actually changed some data to avoid unnecessary updates in the database . But for this I need a technique to detect that the user has indeed changed some data in the table row.
One technique I have been using so far was to isolate the iterator row of the table and then query the corresponding row in the database table and compare their values.
Except from dummy, this technique is not efficient if the table contains many rows.
Moreover, in my case I have observed that on successive updates on the same row , the query on the database returns the new values (user changed values) and not the actual values contained in the database table. This means that when the user updates an iterator row the cached data affect also the results of the SELECT statement from the actual database table!!! Isn't this strange ?
Can somebody propose me a neat method to detect when the user has changed the the data of an iterator row ?

    Hey Alan,
The below solution seems overly complicated to me and can not be implemented without a custom screen and/or the use of JavaScript. Also, if your main concern is that a user may accidentally loose all their data because they closed the browser window or the session times out before they hit the save button then this solution does not help you.
There are a couple of simpler approaches you can take here:
    # If the use of JavaScript is permissible you can hook into the windows 'onUnload' event, and pop-up a message box which gives the user the opportunity to cancel closing the window and save their case if they haven't already.
    # Implement an autosave feature by hooking into one of events provided by web determinations. A simple (but rather naive) way of doing this would be to hook into the OnRenderScreenEvent and call save on the interview session every time the event fires. This guarantees that all the data the user has submitted will aways automatically be saved, thereby removing the need to make sure the user manually saves their data before closing the browser.
Automatically making Web Determinations close a browser window has to be done using JavaScript. However, doing so means that a) it won't work for people who turn off JavaScript, which is commonly done for accessibility reasons b) you'll likely run afoul of the browser's security mechanism (they generally won't let you close a window that you didn't open and some really don't like you doing that at all).

    Kristy

  • I want to use Get Panel Image in Labview 5.0.1 and need details on how to save the BMP data generated

I am trying to generate an application that saves a copy of its front panel on completion. This is easy to do using an invoke node with Print VI to HTML but this does not work in an .exe format. I have seen elsewhere that you have to use the Get Panel Image method, but no details are supplied in LV 5.0.1 documentation of how to use the "image" data (1-D Unsigned Byte array) that is generated. I want to save this in a format that can then be read as a bitmap in any standard graphics package. Any assistance?

    Hi,
If you'd upgrade to LV5.1 or 6 you could use the 'standard' vi's for this.
You need a VI called "Write BMP File.vi". It's not shipped with LV5.0.1.
This vi only uses 3 subVI's, so perhaps someone at NI can convert it and
send it to you (sorry, I won't, it's copywrited).
If you cannot get this VI anywhere, you'll need to figure out the BMP file
format yourself. It's not too complicated, but still could take some days.
Perhaps someone figured it out before LV5.1 was released.
    Regards,
    Wiebe.
