Saving preferred Shadow Text options in powerpoint 2013

Hello,
I'm trying to save my powerpoint format shape text options for shadow text, I see there are presets, but I am wondering would I be able to save a custom setting as a reset?
This is under Format, Text effects, shadow, shadow options.

maybe you can create a customized template to store shadow text.

  • Powerpoint 2013 throwing 'File in Use' errors when saving to a network drive, file is NOT in use

One of our sites is having a strange issue when saving to a network location in Powerpoint.  I'm not sure it's a Powerpoint problem, but it's a place to start...
When saving a ppt to a mapped network drive (the client is running Windows 8 / Office 2013, the network drive is a DFS share, pointed to a Server 2012 machine if that matters), users will almost always get the following error:
"Someone else is working in (filepath\name) right now. Please try again later."
This happens regardless of where the file is being saved on the network drive, in fact it happens even when there is no pre-existing file with that name in the location.  So, even if I'm saving a brand new copy of test.pptx to F:\Share\PPT where there
is not currently a test.pptx, I get the error.
Word, Excel, and all other tested apps save properly.  Powerpoint can save correctly to the local computer, but not to the network drive or to My Documents (which redirects to the same network drive).
When the error pops up, if I look in Open Files in Computer Management on the Fileserver, I see the file I'm trying to save listed as being open, but it shows 'Disconnected' rather than a username.
Any suggestions would be appreciated - again, not sure that this is a Powerpoint problem - could be Windows 8 or some mysterious DFS thing...
    Thanks.

    Hello,
Been having a very similar issue in our environment and just came across this thread while Googling and looking for answers.
In our case, we have Windows 7 clients and 3 main files servers - 2 are Server 2008 R2, and one is Server 2012.  We use PeerLink File Collaboration to sync the files between
the servers (similar concept to DFS).  For us, it seems to happen specifically with Excel 2013, and only when saving to the Server 2012 file server.  I can reproduce the message pretty much every time.  After seeing your post,
I tried it in Powerpoint just out of curiosity, but it saved properly - Word saves properly as well.
Been doing a bunch of testing to try and narrow it down, and this is what I've found:
    Excel 2013 -> Server 2012 = error message.
    Excel 2013 -> Server 2008 R2 = no error message.
    Excel 2010 -> Server 2008 AND Server 2012 = no error message.
<o:p>We've been leaning towards the PeerLink replication as the culprit up to this point, but last night I did some testing with the PeerLink Collaboration turned off, and
still received the error message.. so now I'm even more confused!
I see that it's been a few months since your post..  have you made any progress here?</o:p>

  • PowerPoint 2013 - We're sorry something went wrong that might make PowerPoint Unstable

Windows 7 running Office 2013. Mature installation no recent changes.
Simple update to ppt file created in 2003 ( using Compatibility mode). Single user edit saving to my documents
Error Message "We're sorry something went wrong that might make PowerPoint Unstable" / "Please save your presentations and restart PowerPoint"
PowerPoint no longer allows me to save any file in any format without this message.
Actions taken : Restart PowerPoint / Reboots / Deletion of temporary files from C:/Windows/Temp
    Problem persists

I had this problem with Win81, PowerPoint 2013, pptx file, no system/software changes or updates that could be blamed. Out of the blue working on an existing document, messages as OP wrote started plaguing PPT. Brand new pptx files created with benign random
text also suffered from this. A save or two within the first 30 seconds of opening or creating the file sometimes went ok, but problem appears inevitably - implicating file lock issue.
There is remarkably little commonality in resolutions of this on the web, and no resolution from MS.
Tried many of the suggestions that can be found - no joy.
Finally isolated this to the live sync on DropBox.  If DropBox is active (immediately syncing changes in the background), the problem persists. If DropBox is paused, the problem ceases. DropBox does not need to be removed or exited. If unpaused, problem
immediately starts again. Have not been able to check if other syncing cloud drives have same effect.
What's disturbing is that the DropBox/PowerPoint combination on this machine has been working fine for 1+ years. Turning off DropBox is not an acceptable solution. Perhaps a silent update of one or the other occurred to cause this.

Process for creating a test file is as follows
Via youtube and your preferred browser, search for any video file (eg rubik's cube), select a video and start to watch it.  Choose Share, Embed and copy the link information (eg <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/MaltgJGz-dU"
    frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>)
Close browser and create a new powerpoint 2013 presentation.
    Insert, Video, Online Video
In the "From a Video Embed Code" box, paste the link information then click the arrow to apply
Save the file and then Right Click on the file and Preview.
In advance of the creation/running, I've applied the following KBs to the machine(s)
    kb2817636 & kb2837627
As i said at the start, members of the Power Uses or Administrators group don't have this issue - but as 99% of our users are "users" and not really an option to make them all members of PU group.
Same also happens if the computer is removed from the domain.  Admin & power users work, standard users crash IE.
Uninstall and reinstall of Office 2013 and IE11 has no apparent difference.
    Assistance in this is appreciated.
    Thanks

hi Jon, do you have all available updates installed for your PowerPoint? Install the two KB in the links below, then test again:

  • PowerPoint 2013: New problem experienced in last seven days - Placeholders not taking objects Cut from them and attempted to re re-anchored.

    Hello,
I am running Office 2013 Professional Plus and in PowerPoint 2013 (15.0.4605.1000 64 bit) on Windows 8.
Ihave always been able to anchor content to placeholders (tables, text, images, and so on). In the last week this is no longer the case if an object has been anchored already.
For example, I have an existing slide with a Content placeholder, and a table anchored to it. I cut the table, reselect my placeholder to get the white handles, and attempt to paste. It will paste the table as it was, but it is no longer anchorable to a
    placeholder.
This is a critical issue for us as we are about to upgrade our corporate  brand/template and be required to upgrade thousands of documents and hundreds of thousands of pages of content.
Can anyone advise a workaround? This is my first post on MDN and apologize for any missing elements.
    Anthony

    Hi Anthony,
Thank you for posting in the MSDN Forum.

  • Removing useless contents of an unsorted text file in excel 2013

    hi friends
i am new to excel & there is an urgent need for me, that's why i pose this question which may appear simple.
in my server i have redirected the output of a command help into a text file (c:\myhelp.txt)
i have pasted some initial lines of that text file here:
The following is a list of unattend parameters for promotion (default values are enclosed in <>):
    /AllowDomainControllerReinstall:{Yes | <No> | NoAndNoPromptEither}
Specifies whether to continue installing this domain controller despite that a domain controller account with the same name is detected. Specify Yes only if you are sure that the account is no longer in use.
    /AllowDomainReinstall:{Yes | <No> | NoAndNoPromptEither}
Specifies whether an existing domain is recreated.
    /ApplicationPartitionsToReplicate:""
Specifies application partitions to be replicated in the format of "partition1" "partition2". If * is specified, all application partitions will be replicated.
now i need to import this text file into excel 2013 so that i be able to remove comments & descriptions ( in fact anything except command switches, which their characteristics is that they begin with an
slash & there is no space between their words).
in other words i need to preserver strings which start with an slash.
for example i need only the following strings remain in the file:
    /AllowDomainControllerReinstall:
    /AllowDomainReinstall:
    /ApplicationPartitionsToReplicate:
so that then i be able to export that file & then execute my command & specify the path to this answer file (c:\myhelp.txt)
how can i achieve this in excel?
can i easily do the entire process when importing that file into excel, using importing options? if not, how can i do that after opened in excel?
in the following screenshots i have shown what import options i used when importing this help file into excel & the result:
really thanks in advanced, i really need this help.

    Hi John,
    Bit unclear on your requirment.
Let me put it this way.
1.You are running some command which generates output c:\myhelp.txt in multiple lines.
    2. You want to reformat the contents of c:\myhelp.txt so that only parameter name remains in each line, without the values.
    3. Reuse the updated c:\myhelp-clean.txt file into some other script\command.
I can help you with quick excel formatting on point 2.
Points noted:- the parameter are seperated from the rest of the data by ":" colon
Hence once data is opened in excel, use Text-Col ->Delimited->Other-> Type : (colon) as the delimitor.
This will result in only the 1st column with the long text in some rows and /parameters seperated
Then Select all the data in the first column, Filter->Drop Down, Text Filters->Begins with-> /
Only text with the parameters remain, as desc rows don't have / in beginning.
Copy this and save it in another text file for re-use.

    Satyajit

  • Photo Album Insertion in PowerPoint 2013

After creating a default template to change the default slide size to 4:3 (rather than 16.9), PowerPoint 2013 continues to insert image files onto a 16:9 slides when using the 'Photo Album' tool -- even if the default 4:3 template is manually selected
from the drop down box.  Perhaps there is another default configuration file that is utilized by the Photo Album tool?

I found a slight workaround for this problem. I too changed my default theme/template and was disappointed when photo albums were still created in 16:9, and was then further disappointed by the fact that when you subsequently changed the presentation to
4:3 using 'Ensure Fit' (maximize not an option as it crops), the photos/images were absolutely tiny.
    In PowerPoint 2013:
Insert a photo album. Select all the pictures you actually want and click create
On the Design ribbon, press Slide Size and Select 4:3
Click 'Ensure Fit' because you don't really have a choice as Maximise crops images.
Frown in digust at the tiny images that now appear on the 4:3 slide
On the Insert Ribbon, hit the down arrow on 'Photo Album' and select 'Edit Photo Album'
    Click update
Your tiny images will now be resized to make the most of the new 4:3 slide format
(depending on what settings you chose in the 'Album Layout' section of inserting the photo album, e.g. Fit to slide)

  • How to burn a powerpoint 2013 presentation to a DVD R and or USB flash drive.

My Powerpoint 2013 slideshow includes photo's, clip art with transitions and animations and embedded music.   I want to
burn this presentation to either  a DVD disk or a USB flash drive and send it to a friend.   My friend has a windows 7 desktop
computer and a DVD player attached to a TV.   Ideally I want to know how to burn the presentation to a DVD so that the presentation can be played back on the TV using the DVD player.    I do not want to lose any of the transitions
or animations when I burn the presentation to a DVD.          I know most TV's have a USB connection but have no idea how this works if the
presentation is copied to a USB flash drive.   What are my best options to keep the integrity of the presentation intact, and how do I go about doing this?   I need detailed instructions please.   Thanks in advance
    for your assistance.

    Hi,
The factor of keeping the integrity of presentation when you burn this presentation to either a DVD disk or a USB flash drive depends on performance of DVD disk and USB flash drive.
There are two ways to put PowerPoint presentation on a DVD convert PPT to video.
    1. Convert PPT Files To DVD is to use a screen capture software.
    2. Convert and Burn PowerPoint Presentation onto DVD would be to use a professional PowerPoint to DVD converter software.
    For more detail information:
    http://worldclassmedia.com/how-to-convert-powerpoint-files-to-dvd-put-a-powerpoint-presentation-on-tv/
If your TV doesn’t have built-in processors or Windows installed, it can’t run PowerPoint presentations in their native environment from a USB connectors. If so, you should convert it to video format first.

  • Line Breaks and Preferred Carrier Text

I support our E-Commerce (ISA 5.0) web application. We are using the R/3 edition, which in our case is an ECC6 backend (not CRM).
Anyhow, I am pulling the customer preferred carrier text from the vendor master into the web application. Once I have it, I am appending additional text (ex, "Qualifies for FREE FREIGHT") to it, then sending it back to ECC6 when the order is send/saved.
To set the text I'm using the following line of code....
    ui.header.setText(new Text("100", appText));
    with appText = "FREE FREIGHT" + "\r\n" + preferredCarrierTextFromR3;
Here is my problem. Last year, when our backend was R/3 6.40c, this worked fine. This year, however, the "\r\n" are being 'translated' as garbage characters (# signs), and thus ignored. So, when this modified preferred carrier text is printed to a Pick List, for example, the text is overwriting. You can actually see # signs printed where last year a line break would occur, and thus, the preferred carrier text is printing directly on top of the "FREE FREIGHT" text.
I've tried everything I could Google as a replacement for "\r\n", but I have yet to find a solution to the problem. I've tried string buffer, line.separator, chr(10), chr(13) and just about any other suggestion I could find.
I should add that I'm not really sure what is causing the line break characters to not be recongnized correctly.
    Anyone have any ideas?
I appreciate any and all feedback.
    Thank you,

  • PowerPoint 2013 - Choosing from only custom templates

    Dears,
I need to force the Powerpoint 2013 users in my organization to choose ONLY from the corporate templates based on category (Internal, external, generic). Is there a way to provide an option to select the type of template while opening PP 2013,
using a dialog box or some other way and then embed a watermark or header/footer with details of the creator, into the slides ?
    Thanks,
    Sudhan

To preview within PowerPoint, we just right-click the video (in the designer layout) and choose "Preview". If we do this under a User account, we receive the error I described above. However, if we try using the same PowerPoint file under an Administrators
account, performing the same actions, it shows up on the slide fine - it will even play.
Using the embed code from YouTube (current or old - with and without fixed source links and versioning, etc.) produces the same results. It'll embed the video, but it can't be played in or out of a presentation without throwing an error (for accounts with
User rights). Again, it will work under an Administrator account.
And I am aware that at one time there was an issue with PowerPoint and online videos such as those from YouTube. However, since mid-April of this year, there have been a few updates to bring back that support. I believe, now, if the video can play in the
browser, it can play in PowerPoint. See
http://blogs.technet.com/b/bgp/archive/2014/04/09/support-for-youtube-videos-in-powerpoint-returns.aspx for more details. And yes, we have those updates (or their superseded ones) installed - as I mentioned before. The problem is an access problem; exception
code c0000005 generally refers to an access violation exception, and that is definitely proven when we change permission levels from User to Administrator.

  • Can't Publish Slides from PowerPoint 2013 to SharePoint 2010 Slide Library

    Hello all,
When I attempt to publish PowerPoint 2013 slides to a SharePoint 2010 Slide Library it informs me that it failed. I am able to publish PowerPoint 2010 slides without issue. All of my permissions are correct. Is it possible to publish PowerPoint 2013 slides
    to SharePoint 2010?
The weird thing is that while I can't publish, I can compile a new slide deck in PowerPoint 2013 using the "Copy slide to presentation" button in the slide library of my SharePoint 2010 site.
    Thanks!
    Kelly
    Personal Blog: http://thebitsthatbyte.com

When I get this error it is because SharePoint is not passing the credentials to the network share where the slide library is located. So when PowerPoint
tries to upload slides to SharePoint it is giving an error of unauthorized (because your credentials are not being passed correctly). Every part of SharePoint is essentially a network shared drive just like you have an internal network to share files between
employees. Assuming you are having the same problem for the same reason, here's the work around:
Set up a mapped network drive that goes to where the slide library is located. It should be something like this: \\sp.sharepoint.com@SSL\site\Sales\Slide Library
When you connect to this drive it will prompt you for a log in (just like SharePoint would)
Once you log in your credentials will be cached (until you reboot your system or it times out)
You can then publish to your PowerPoint slides to the library either directly through PowerPoint or by going to the upload slides option on SharePoint
The problem is it only last until you reboot. When you reboot it clears out your credentials then you have to log in again. I’m hoping someone can figure out why SharePoint is
not passing the credentials properly so we can have true fix to this issue. Until then, this will get you by.

  • Cannot Publish Slides from PowerPoint 2013 to SharePoint 2010 Slide Library

I have the 64-bit version of Windows 8 Release v1.0, Internet Explorer version 10 (10.0.9200.17183), Office 2013 Professional 32-bit, and a SharePoint 2010 environment.  I cannot publish slides to the SharePoint environment at all.  When
I attempt to do so from PowerPoint 2013, I receive an error indicating all slides (X of X) failed to upload.  When I attempt to use the option in the SharePoint 2010 Slide Library (Upload > Publish Slides) I receive the error of "This feature
requires Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007.  Either the application is not installed, or your browser is not configured to support ActiveX controls."
I have added the URL for the site in question to my "Trusted Sites" in Internet Explorer 10.  I read through the KB 2716529.  There is no TabProcGrowth registry entry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER, but there is one under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
and the value is set to "Medium" which appears to be accurate.  I tried running the "Fix it For Me" option offered with that KB, and the wizard indicated the problem could not be found on my computer.
How can I resolve this issue?  Utilizing slide libraries is a very important feature of SharePoint for my organization, and going back to Office 2010 is simply not an option.

    Hi Jen_O,
According to your description, my understanding is that you were unable to publish Slides into SharePoint 2010 with Office 2013.
For narrowing this issue, let's verify the followings:
Please test on other machines with the same system configuration, compare the result.
Please test on other machines with 32-bit system and IE 10, compare the result.
Whether you are able to publish Slides from Windows 7 and Office 2013 32-bit.
Whether this issue occurres for all slide files with Office 2013.
Please create a new slide in PowerPoint 2013, and check if it could be uploaded into a new Slide library.
In addition,  Office Web Apps (as part of SharePoint 2010) allow SharePoint users to view and edit Office documents (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.) from within the browser. Typically we can click on a link to a PowerPoint, for example in a document library,
and be taken to a new page to present PowerPoint.

  • How to prevent PowerPoint 2013 from mucking with my laptop display mode?

I have an EliteBook 8570p in a docking station, with an external monitor and keyboard attached.
I typically have my display mode as "duplicate", with the same thing  showing on both my laptop screen and external monitor.  I use the external monitor as the main screen. This might be uncommon, but I prefer it this way.  I've
been working this way for quite a while.
I very recently started using MS PowerPoint 2013.  Today I discovered an annoying bug (feature?) with this combination.  I was in "slideshow mode" for a pptx I was working on, and I pressed ESC to get back to editing the doc.  What
happened was that the external monitor just showed my background wallpaper, and the laptop screen showed the normal display, along with my background wallpaper.  I then had to slide over to my laptop keyboard and press Fn-F4 and set it to "Duplicate",
and that restored my external monitor display.
I don't like this behavior.  I also noticed that when I go into slideshow mode, the display on the laptop screen is different from what I see on the external monitor. It looks like it's showing an "intelligent" view of the slideshow, with
a big panel showing the current page, and the next page in a smaller panel. That's interesting, but I don't want it to do that if I'm in "Duplicate" display mode.
Is there a way to get the "older" behavior from PowerPoint 2013?

    Thanks Milan for the explanation.
And the mentioned option can be found by going to the "SLID SHOW" tab>"Monitors" section on the ribbon in PowerPoint 2013.

It's recommended to download and install
Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office
    programs.
