Scan and Read USB port

Hi!
I have USB port in my test jig. So first i want to scan my usb port and it also reads com port number.
what happened, if i connected my test jig with one PC than USB port (COM 4) and some other PC it gives (COM3) through device manager. so every time i have to look device manager and look which port is connected with USB and i have to change port number in program.
so i want to scan usb port and read which com port is connected to USB
thanks

Hi swami,
I think there is no way to distinguish between native COM-ports and virtual serial RS232-devices via USB. If you use the VISA VIs to control your serial interfaces, use "VISA Find Ressource" to list the available serial interfaces. As an example you can use it as follows:

  • Audio output and left USB port is not working!

    Hi! I have MacBook Air 13" late 2010, Audio output and left USB port is not working!
    What happened?
    Part No.: Z0JH000TE RS

    If the left USB port doesnt work with an external mouse its seems to be a hardware malfunction of this USB port.
    The newest BIOS is already installed?
    Have you removed all USB ports from device manager and restarted your notebook?
    If you have already tried this, contact an authorized service provider. The guys can try to fix this issue and it should be covered by warranty, if you still have warranty on this notebook. :)

    Michael,
    Thanks. I haven't mixed down the audio or checked the number of tracks in Prefs. Good points.
    As far as a mixdown goes, I'll definitely give it a try, though I wonder whether or not the tracks will be recognized during mix down recording - given that you can't hear either of those segments in playback. Just have to try.
    Re the preferred number of allowed tracks - I'll go check as soon as I send this off, but I'm not sure that applies in this case, since the two Channels containing the segments that are pinked out are not in additional tracks. I should have mentioned that other audio clips and segments on the same Channels in the SAME tracks ARE heard in playback. As are two additional track in the 2nd Sequence. It's only when the two sequences are joined that the pink tinted segments can't be heard. Within the sequence the same audio cuts playback as they should. Thanks again &
    Best regards,

  • While charging my ipad when i plugged in the adapter, the adapter and the usb port gets very very hot... Is this normal? I replaced my ipad and adapter but the problem still exist.

    While i charge my ipad with adapter the adapter more specifically the internal round cell of adapter and the usb port becomes very very hot... And ultimately my ipad back starts heating a bit. Is that normal?

    Take your charger, cable & iPad to an Apple Store for evaluation.
    The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
    Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
    How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
    At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Updated OS X Mavericks and now USB ports and MS Office apps won't work. How do I fix this?

    I updated  my MacBook Pro (mid 2012) to OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 and now my USB ports and MS Office apps won't work.  What do I do to fix this?

    What system version were you running before you updated to 10.9.4? Another 10.9.x or something earlier?
    What version of Office? 2004, 2008, or 2011?
    Were you aware that Office 2004 does not run on recent versions of the system?
    When you say your USB ports do not work, on what are you determining that?
    Were you aware that Mavericks does not display external disk volumes by default?

  • Keyboard malfunction and shorted USB port

    Hey all, I've got a question regarding my Apple USB keyboard. Just last night, I spilled a few drops of coffee onto my keyboard. Honestly, it was just a few drops...most spilled onto the desk itself. Now, the three top row of keys on the numeric keypad don't work, along with the right SHIFT key. What gives? Is there something I can do to fix this problem?
    Also, at the same time, I noticed that one of the three USB ports in the back of the iMac stopped working. And funny enough, it was NOT the usb port that the keyboard was plugged into. Is there a way to reactivate this USB port? Can spilling a few drops of liquid onto a keyboard be enough to short out the USB internal hub?
    Thanks in advance!
    David
    iMac G5 2GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   1GB RAM, 160GB Hard Drive

    Hello,
    Inside the keyboard, there are two plastic sheets that have traces on them. When you press the key, it presses the two plastic sheets together at a specific point. This contact tells the computer which key you pressed.
    If you get liquid in there, it can come between the two sheets, and prevent contact from being made. So, most likely, you need to open the keyboard and dry out the liquid between those two sheets (Using a clean and soft towel).
    You can read more about how the keyboard is constructed and how to clean it in one of my previous answers here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2791931&#2791931
    As for the problem of your USB port, you might try just turning the computer off and back on. If they get shorted (or have too much power drawn from them), then the computer will deactivate that port until you have restarted your computer. So, give that a try.
    I hope this helps.

  • So i have a 32gb ipod classic and the usb port is never recognized??

    So my ipod is a 32 gb classic but i can't really use it because the usb port will not connect to my computer or anyone else's. the only reason why it's not completely useless is because i can still charge it using the firewire port but i can't restore it or put new songs on it or anything. i can only charge it. the usb port on my computer works just fine so i'm thinking the problem is with my ipod. any suggestions on how to confront the problem??

    What you maybe missing are the cables, the current USB iPod Dock cables dont work on this iPod, the
    M8948LL/A* - A1040 was designed before Apple switch over from Firewire to USB2.0. for all iPod interface.
    If you want to use it on a Windows PC, you got to format to FAT32, and your PC must have Firewire (IEEE 1394 port), for syncing or
    else you got to get a special "iPod Dock Connector to USB 2.0 + FireWire Cable" from Apple store (I dont think they have it in stock but you can try eBay or Amazon. But these are meant to be used by connecting the Firewire to the Wall Charger and the USB end to the Windows PC USB2.0 port. If your PC has both USB and Firewire, and you connect them both simultaneous, it will corrupt your iPod formware.
    It can connect to Macs that have Firewire ports, you can try Mac with USB2.0 port, but I dont think it will work.
    Stick to Mac, it will give you less problems.

  • Firefox does not paint the window if Windows 7 Basic theme is selected and Fujitsu USB port replicator PR07 is used

    If I use "Windows 7 Basic" theme on my laptop (Fujitsu Lifebook A532), the Firefox window is not painted.
    I see only the border of the window, the content not. As soon as I switch back to the "Windows 7" theme,
    it works again.
    It could be related to the graphics driver (from Intel) of my new laptop.
    Before I had a desktop computer, and did not have this problem.
    Update: the problem occurs only if I use my port replicator (Fujitsu USB Port Replicator PR07).
    If I unplug the replicator, and use only the monitor of my laptop, everything is fine.

  • Problem while using reading USB Port : using JSR80

    i want to read the data comming from a usb keyboard.
    So i looked for the api's in java and could find jUSB and JSR80.
    when i tried using jUSB, i could detect the device connected to the usb port
    but for that i had to do many things, whih included editing the registry to make a generic JSUB driver. so this implementation is not acceptable to my current requirement which is a web application..and the java program to detect the usb device come in an applet. so we cannot go to each client machines accessing the page and configure the driver and make regisrty edits.
    So i moved to JSR80..which was telling abt a complete implementation in Linux.
    but what i want is for windows. JSR80 also have an uncertified windows support. so i tried usig it.
    i downloaded the following files
    http://javax-usb.cvs.sourceforge.net/javax-usb/javax-usb-libusb/lib/jsr80_windows.jar?view=log
    javax.usb.properties
    jsr80.jar
    jsr80_ri.jar
    jsr80_windows.jar
    downloaded libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe from
    http://libusb-win32.sourceforge.net/
    and created an eclipse project added the jars using the javabuildpath menu.
    copied the location of javax.usb.properties in classpath system variable.
    insatlled the exe for libusb.
    now i wrote the following code.
    it didn't show any compile error so i assumed what i did with the jars are correct.
    import java.util.Properties;
    import javax.usb.UsbException;
    import javax.usb.UsbHostManager;
    import javax.usb.UsbHub;
    import javax.usb.UsbServices;
    public class SampleUSBTest {
          * @param args
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              // TODO Auto-generated method stub
              SampleUSBTest obj=new SampleUSBTest();

                   services = UsbHostManager.getUsbServices();
                   UsbHub vroothub = services.getRootUsbHub();
                   String s=vroothub.toString();
                   System.out.println(s);
              } catch (SecurityException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
              } catch (UsbException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
    }But when i ran the code it showed the following runtime error.

  • Will external speakers on both 3.5 mm and a USB port work at the same time?

    Have two sets of speakers that I want the same audio on. If I connect one set of speakers to 3.5 mm audio out, and the other set to a USB port, will I hear audio coming out of both sets?
    If that's possible, do you know if I can regulate volume independently on both sets through Mac Mini?
    Thanks in advance to any replies.

    Thanks. So I guess my other option (if not getting into third party apps) is to split optical out or get a multi-zone receiver.
    Thanks for the reply!

  • 10.5.2 No problems and Left USB Port Fixed

    I installed 10.5.2 (after making 2 verifiable clones) and so far everything works perfectly. Installed the Graphics update with no problems and, best of all, the left USB port works after the computer awakens from sleep (shutting the cover). This was an important fix for me...... Thanks Apple!!!
    Victor

    Sounds like a hosed installation. Restore the bootable backup/clone of your 10.5.1 installation (hard to tell since your profile info shows 10.4.7), download the 10.5.2 COMBO update, and install it.

  • Spinning umbrella and the USB port

    Sometimes I get the spinning Umbrella (Beachball, Color Wheel, whatever it is), and it seems to go on, more or less interminably, until I finally reach forward and jiggle the USB cable running into the back of my Mac mini, after which the umbrella disappears, and the computer starts doing what it was supposed to be doing. This implies a loose connection at the USB port, or at least the keyboard I am using.
    Although I have yet to unplug the cable to my keyboard, and try plugging it into a different USB port, does anybody else have problems with (what I suppose to be) a loose connector at the USB port?
    I doubt I could ever bring myself to solder the cable directly to the USB port in question (the one that is just beneath the loudspeaker port), I might be tempted to do something like that to an external USB hub, something that is not subject to as many vibrations as the one that is associated with the keyboard.
    Is it a bad idea to solder a USB cable to a USB port?

    What you maybe missing are the cables, the current USB iPod Dock cables dont work on this iPod, the

  • Sd card reader & USB port (right side only) not working

    I recently purchased a Macbook Pro 15" retina display with OS Moutain Lion. The SD card reader and USB port on the right side of the computer do not work. I've restarted the computer numerous times, tried to reimage the computer with the Control+R during restart (didn't allow for update because Mountain Lion was loaded on the system), and downloaded with the latest updates but they still do not work. I am currently deployed to Afghanistan so Apple Support calling me back isn't going to work. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello :
    TNX for your reply.
    Unfortunately, I do not own a 2 gig mem card to test with. What perplexes me is that when I watch device manager and open properties boxes for the USB dev, SMSC-2228 dev,  and the newly created disks, the Win XP drivers do indeed load, but watching it do so is sloooooooowwwwwww. Slow as in 3 - 5 minutes for the win drivers to load in place. Funny thing is, an xD mem card or Memory stick initialize, set up properly in a matter of at most 5 - 10 seconds or so. The only card type I have a problem with is THE MOST COMMON ONE, the SD card. Maybe a Micro/Mickey soft thing? Some info I found on the SMSC controller claims it supports the larger sd card sizes, so I think this is a Micro / Mickey soft thing. I guess I need to search for some better drivers somewhere.
    TNX for now
