Scanning documents for email attachments.

When I scan a document with Preview, and I want to attach it to an email, it will not let the attachment show just as a PDF file.  It always opens the document in the email.  Can this be changed?

It is a pdf file when the receiver gets the email.

  • What program should i use to open pdf files, documents for email attachments. Adobe is not working

I can not open any email attachments-large or small. I had adobe and switched to internet explorer.  I do not have any other choices on my computer to pick from other than word pad and it opened the attachment but was not readable.

Please download and install the latest version of Acrobat Reader from the following weblink that will help you to open and read all the PDF files:

  • Sending existing BDS documents as email attachments

I have documents stored in BDS which I wish to send as email attachments. There is a lot of very helpful material around sending emails but it all seems to relate to sending the contents of an internal table as an excel attachment, for example. There is much detail on the methods to be called to convert the data from one format to another and then add it as an attachment.
I want to be able to attach an existing document(it could be any type of document but in my case it is a word document) to an email and send it to an email address. This seems a very basic requirement and I'm a bit puzzled that my sdn searches have not come up with the goods.
I was expecting there to be a CL_BDS(or CL_BDS_DOCUMENT_SET) method to do this but I can't find one. I have ended up using an Outlook OLE2 approach and have got it working, see Max Bianchi's contribution within the following thread for a model(thank's Max):
How to send e-mail from Report to MS-outlook
This is good but restricts me to Outlook and  would prefer to have everything within SAP with no outside dependencies. i.e. if this site changes from using Outlook to another mail application the program will stop working.
Is there another way I can construct emails and attach existing files to them without reading the documents in, reformatting them etc??
I am closing this thread as there have been no responses. It does not seem that there is a way to attach existing documents within SAP. The options are to use an OLE2 approach which has the advantage of dealing with the original document  but restricts the solution to the OLE2 object (in this case Outlook) or to read the document to be attached into an internal table via CL_BDS methods, reformat it suitably and send an email via CL_DOCUMENT_BCS methods.

  • Problem attaching scanned documents to email.

After scanning and saving a document, I use the Attach function to attach it to an email.  That appears to work, but the document then cannot be opened and an error message appears that says an erroc occurred in opening.  As an alternative, I close Reader and open a new email, then use the Insert function to attach the saved scan.  That works, but doing it directly from rReader would be a lot handier.

  • Blank scanned document when emailed

I have adobe reader Xl.  When I scan documents to my computer, I can view them as a pdf file.  When I email them to someone, the attachments are on the email but are blank on their end.  If they have an older version of adobe reader, is that causing the document to be blank.  I can I solve the problem.

Maybe the document was damaged during the email transmission?  Email is not a 100% safe method; sharing documents is better done using a file sharing service, such as Acrobat Workspaces, Dropbox, or Google Drive.

  • How do I make purchased apps, like numbers, keynote, pages, office pro, show up in "open in" function for email attachments?

How do I make my purchased apps such as, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Office Pro, available for opening attached documents in email in the"open in" function?

    Thanks for your reply.
Anyway, here is what I am trying to do:
It is for a context sensitive display. I am going to sprinkle command links throughout the system and each link will query the database for a specific string and bring out the results in a pop up window.
I have a backing bean that does the query and a JSF form (that I am trying to pop up) that uses this bean to display the results.

  • Apps for email attachments

Are there any apps that allow email attachments to be opened.  I can't open wmv or any other attachments that I receive until I get to my computer.  I have searched the apps catalog on my Palm Pre, but can't seem to locate anything that works.
Post relates to: Pre 2 p102eww (Verizon)

Your Pre can open any attachment that has support for the file format.
MicroSoft's .wmv format is not supported.  Page 142 of the Verizon Pre 2 User Guide states:
"You can view DRM-free videos that you receive as email attachments or
that you copy from your computer in the MPEG-4, H.263, H.264, MP4,
M4V, 3GP, 3GPP, 3G2, and 3GP2 formats. You can view videos you open in
a multimedia message in MP4 format. Videos play on your phone in
    landscape orientation."

  • How can I scan documents for duplicate cells?

    Hello!
I've created 5 separate mailing lists in Numbers. I want to scan all five for duplicate email address. Can anyone think of a way to do this?

    Hi fp,
Are the 'five mailing lists' in a single table? ...in multiple tables in a single document? ...in separate documents?
Are you looking for duplicates in each list, or duplicates that may appear in separate lists?
Here's an example, with two lists, each in a separate table.
Column C shows the number of this each address appears in the list in 'This Table' only.
    C2, and filled down: =COUNTIF($B,$B2)
Column D shows the total for each address in both tables.
    List 1::D2, and filled down: =COUNTIF($B,$B2)+COUNTIF(List 2 :: $B,$B2)
    List 2::D2, and filled down: =COUNTIF($B,$B2)+COUNTIF(List 1 :: $B,$B2)
Tables that are in separate documents cannot be counted together as Numbers is unable to reference cells in other documents. The easiest way to handles these is to copy all the lists into a single document, code the rows to indicate which list it came from and its starting position in that list. the coding is to allow the combined list to be re-sorted into its original order to allow collecting each group's remaining members for pasting back to the original table.
Trim the list by deleting any row showing a count that is greater than one. Numbers formulas respond to any change in the table, so the count of the remaining copies (or copy) of that address will be immediately updated as each copy of the address is removed. Remember to stop when the count reaches 1.

  • Iwork08 documents as email attachments

I have an online upgrade of iWork08. However if I try to attach any created word document to an email as an attachment it will not allow it! All the documents created since the upgrade are not highlighted for selection.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions Leslie
I'm not exactly sure what you're doing. Have you saved/exported your Pages document to Work & can't attach that or are you trying to attach a Pages document to an e-mail?
A Pages document is actually a package, a special kind of folder that appears as a single file, but isn't. You can't e-mail a folder. Apple Mail will automatically zip a folder, other e-mail clients don't, especially web-based e-mail. In the Finder, Control- or right-click on the Pages document & choose Create Archive… from the contextual menu. You will now have a zipped Pages document that you can attach to your e-mail & send.
Your recipient must have Pages to be able to open your Pages file. If s/he doesn't, you can export the Pages document as Word or PDF & send that.

  • Setting up directory object for emailing attachments

    Hi,
I am having trouble trying to send emails with attachments. I have downloaded and created the the demo_mail package and the pdf_mail procedure. I also have the send_email_attach procedure using utl_mail.
I am not sure, or familiar on setting up the directory object. I don't have privileges to do this so I need to understand exactly what needs to be done so I could relay it to my dba.
In the Send_email_attach procedure there is this code
"fHandle := UTL_FILE.FOPEN('/Source/Apps/prod/reports', 'mypdf.pdf', 'r');" I put the directory path the file is in as the first argument and the name of my pdf in the second one. When I run it, it gives me an error:
ORA-20001: The following error has occured : ORA-29280: invalid directory path
I'm thinking I need the directory object in the first argument? Is this correct. And then do I put the file in the directory path that the directory object points to? and keep as the second argument?
using the pdf_mail procedure it sends the email but the attachment in the email is bad. Acrobat just says: Acrobat reader could not open '~6034454.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly formated).
This is the code I use to call it:
    pdf_mail('myemail',
    'another email',
    'This is a test',
    'Hope it works',
    '/Data/oracle/product/10g__BI/tools/web/icons/myicons/mypdf.pdf',
    EMPTY_BLOB());
I am not sure what to put in the last two arguments. In the next to last argument I put the path where the file is and in the last argument I put EMPTY_BLOB() call. If I put the name of the pdf in quotes it gives me an error ORA-06550: wrong number or types of arguments in call to pdf_mail.
I'm not sure how to reference the files or the directory.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks

You need to use a directory object to do this properly. If you don't have privileges then get them...
The UTL_FILE_DIR parameter has been deprecated by oracle in favour of direcory objects because of it's security problems.
The correct thing to do is to create a directory object e.g.:
CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY mydir AS 'c:\myfiles';Note: This does not create the directory on the file system. You have to do that yourself and ensure that oracle has permission to read/write to that file system directory.
Then, grant permission to the users who require access e.g....
GRANT READ,WRITE ON DIRECTORY mydir TO myuser; Then use that directory object inside your FOPEN statement e.g.
fh := UTL_FILE.FOPEN('MYDIR', 'myfile.txt', 'r');Note: You MUST specify the directory object name in quotes and in UPPER case for this to work as it is a string that is referring to a database object name which will have been stored in uppercase by default.
