  • SCCM 2012 SP1 SQL License Question!!

I have SCCM 2012 SP1 running on one server with the DB running on another server within SQL 2012 SP1. This was running grand for 5+ months green across the board.
Recently I lost SCCM access. I have discovered this is due to the trial of SQL having expired! I have performed quite a bit of research and see that SQL use is granted with the purchase of SCCM 2012 license. i.e. no SQL license is need.
    My questions:
Why has my trial expired if SQL is supposedly free with SCCM 2012 license?
Do I need to upgrade to full version and use SCCM license to activate SQL?
    Possible cause:
I have two instances running on my SQL server: SCCM DB and WSUS DB, is the expirey because of the WSUS DB and will I need to either remove this WSUS DB and, or, use a SQL 2012 license up?
    Quick responses appreciated Thanks!
    MichaelSpaulding

    Hi,
There is no license key provided for SQL server with the SQL User Rights that is included in the System Center license. So you need to get the SQL server keys/media from volume licensing site. There is no relation between the WSUS DB and the fact that the
    SQL trial version has expired.
If you downloaded the SQL Standard media from Volume licensing here is a guide for upgrading SQL server

  • SCCM 2012 R2 + Intune - Android Enrollment issue

    Hi,
I have an issue enrolling Android devices in our SCCM 2012 R2 in combination with Windows Intune, ADFS & DirSync.
All devices except Android enroll just fine, are visible in SCCM, get Apps and policies. When I try to enroll my Android devices (tried multiple types and Android versions) I get
an error after being redirected to the ADFS login page. I get an error stating the page has either moved, been deleted or is not reachable due to connectivity issues. When logging in on portal.manage.microsoft.com everything, including the redirection, works
    fine.
All prerequisites are in place, the only thing which I haven't added is the Exchange Connector due to an 2007 backend, but afaik this isn't needed for basic Android enrollment
    and management.
What I do notice is that the Company Portal for Android is redirected to a different URL for ADFS than, for example, my laptop.
    Laptop URL: https://adfs.contoso.com/adfs/ls/?cbcxt=portal&popupui=1&vv=&username=username%40contoso.com&mkt=&lc=9&wfresh=&wa=wsignin1.0&wtrealm=urn:federation:MicrosoftOnline&wctx=wa%3Dwsignin1.0%26wreply%3Dhttps%253a%252f%252fmanage.microsoft.com%252fUISecurityTokenService%252fStsLoginRedirect.aspx%26wctx%3Dhttps%253a%252f%252fm.manage.microsoft.com%252f%26cbcxt%3DPortal%26wp%3DHBI_FED%26popupui%3D1%26lc%3D9%26bk%3D1392111237%26LoginOptions%3D3
    Android Device URL:
Anyone else had these issues? As I can't seem to find anything related about it online.
    Thanks in advance,
    Br David

    Hi Nick,
I solved this problem by adding the Root and Intermediate certificates to my ADFS proxy server. It seems, though it's is not very well documented, that Android / Chrome have issues with resolving entire certificate chains, and on top of that there are less
Trusted Root CA's in both Chrome and Android. This is proven by the fact that iOS and WP8 enrollment worked just fine.
After adding adding the missing Certs on my ADFS proxy server, and rebooting the machine, everything works as intended.
Let me know if this solved your problem, if not maybe I have another idea for you.
    Br David
edit: and ofcourse now I see your answer, so it seems you got your problem fixed. Leaving my answer up here just in case.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Won't import boot.wim

Over the weekend I have upgraded to SCCM R2 CU4 and today I am having issues with OSD, After the install of the client, the task just ends and does not continue to install the applications.
I checked: drivers, network access account, redistributed all content to DPs still the same issue. After some googleing I found this thread "Failed to get the environment key - SMSTS.log" Sorry not allowed to link yet.
My wim versions are 6.2.9200 so I figured I need to import new boot images, not a big deal.
I have ADK 8.1 Setup up on the server. exported the boot.wim from the adk but whem I attept to import the new boot.wim sccm gives me an error. So back to google. People have stated that MacAfee can cause errors, well we don't run MacAfee, we have
Symantec. For jokes sake I disabled that anyway, but still sccm fails to import the boot.wim, for any user, including the addmin user that was used to install SCCM. As well as from multiple network locations.
Any one have any idea. Any logs I can look at?

I've removed ALL drivers and all packages from SCCM, as well as task sequences pointing to driver packages. Still same issue.
I cannot add or remove drives from boot images. When attempting to add driver to a boot image. the dialog where I select the boot image is just blank and does not list any boot images that are in sccm console.
When attempting to update files on distribution points from the boot images that exist i get this error message.

Based on this case, the issue might be resolved by re-importing the Microsoft.Windows.Server.Library Management Pack.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 CU4 - WSUS Sync issues

    *EDIT/Update*
I had incorrectly diagnosed this as an issue with CU4. The issue was in fact between Microsoft and WSUS.
The method listed in this thread ended up working for me.
Here is an official KB article for the issue: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3058255?wa=wsignin1.0
(I have a small environment - only 1 SCCM server [primary] and 200 servers managed)
I upgraded from CU3 to CU4 last week and I cannot get my WSUS to sync all of the updates for April 2015. I also upgraded my test server and it is syncing fine.
I did some digging yesterday and found out that even tho the site server upgraded (I only have one SCCM server), the SQL update failed because I did not have proper permissions. I've since had a DBA run the update.sql file included with the CU (found at:
    %Program Files%\Microsoft Configuration Manager\hotfix\KB3026739)
I restarted my SCCM server again this morning and tried running multiple syncs with Microsoft and it is still pulling in nothing.
I am not getting any errors in WSUS, wsyncmgr.log, WCM.log, or the change.log for wsus. Everything just looks like it attempted to sync - found nothing - then ended the sync successfully.
I had one of the networking guys look at the firewall and he says its getting thru and establishing a connection - but it looks like MS is terminating the connection? I cannot see anything that would indicate this in my logs. Here is what he sent me: http://i.imgur.com/znOvxEN.jpg
Now, to make things even more interesting. In the many many attempts I have made over to the last two days to get SCCM/WSUS to sync April's updates, it has worked in small amounts.... it once expired 16 updates and another time pulled in 2 updates released
on 4/15/15 (but only 2!). I have my sync settings set up exactly like my test server which, again, is working fine.
As always, any help is appreciated!

sounds like there might be a bigger issue with WSUS and Microsoft?

  • SCCM 2012 R2 CU3 - Driver Import Fails

    Hi,
We're having an issue importing new drivers, we can import drivers for Windows 7 fine but receive the following error when it's for Windows 8/8.1, 'The selected driver is not applicable to any supported platforms.' We've imported drivers before so it could
be the recent upgrade to CU3. Anyone else on CU3 able to import Windows 8.1 drivers successfully. Installing the driver manually on the client works fine.
    Thanks
    Ben

    Hi,
We're trying to add drivers so I'm not sure if this would matter. It seems very similar to
    http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/961105,
    http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/979492 and
http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/978754. The first one mentions the Manufacturer in the inf file. We found a similar post
http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1590-error-when-importing-win-7-drivers-inf-files-solution/. If we modify the following line:
    [Manufacturer]
    %Intel%     = Intel, NTamd64.6.3, NTamd64.6.3.1
and change it to the below it imports fine.
    [Manufacturer]
    %Intel%     = Intel, NTamd64.6.3.1
I believe it's a bug and MS need to get their act together and fix it :-)

  • SCCM 2012 - Hardware Inventory Registry Import not working - Windows in the name of the Registry key

I downloaded the Reg to MOF tool and compiled some of our custom Registry Keys which worked fine. There was particular Key that didn't work and after some testing and messing around I realized why it isn't working:
The key I am using is: HKLM\Software\MyCompanyWindows
Because the key has the name Windows in it, it fails to import. I get the generic check the formatting for your MOF file error.
The MOF file you tried to import could not be compiled. Ensure that the MOF file contains valid data. You can use the command line mofcomp utility to test the data.
But if I run a MOFCOMP against the MOF I am trying to import it checks the syntax successfully.
If I change the key to MyCompanyWin or MyCompanyW it imports with no problem.
We have rolled out this key to almost every device in our organization and connected it to other inventory agents so there is no possibility of changing the key.
Is there any way to disable the validation check that SCCM is performing?

    Hi,
If possible, could you please upload the MOF file to SkyDrive?

  • SCCM 2012 report/data for importing software metering rules..

    Hi,
I have a customer who would like to start using software metering. The plan is to create the rules manually, since I guess it would be overkill and/or have an huge performance impact to enable it for all...? We might be talking about 100-300 applications.
To do it manually, a powershell script can be used for creating these based on a txt file containing the following information.
    Productname,  FileName,  OrginalFileName,  FileVersion
The customer has then asked for a report/csv file showing these information for all .exe files, so they can pick what they want to have metered. The data amount will for sure be huge and unmanageable.
Anyone has a good approach for this challenge? :-)
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards
    Thomas

The approach is to say NO, what they are asking for is huge in the range of 100,000 different exes, there is no way anyone will go the list. Instead, look at the build in report for count of installed software products and sort from largest count
to smallest. Then create SWM rules for those applications that have a cost and not everyone has. Aka why would you crate a SWM rule for WORD or EXCEL? But it does make sense to create a rule for Visio or AutoCAD.
Also why create a rule for two different version of Visio? Do you need it, why? Are you sure?

  • SMS Provider Locations Do Not Match - Problem installing SCCM 2012 R2 CU4

I have an SCCM 2012R2 CU1 site that has been upgraded from SCCM 2012 non-SP1, so I have gone from 2012 to 2012SP1 through CU5 and then to R2 and then to CU1.
Over the course of the life of this site, which has more than 10k clients and 10 Site Systems, we have installed roles, removed roles, moved roles and removed Site Systems.
I have also installed and removed SMS providers . . . which is where my issues begin.
The site properties in the console list 6 SMS Providers and even lists an SMS provider on a server that was retired and is no longer a Site System.  When I query WMI using the following VBS script it only returns the *ACTUAL* SMS Provider locations,
2 of the 6 listed in the GUI.
    On Error Resume Next
    Const ForReading = 1, ForWriting = 2, ForAppending = 8
    strComputer = "."
    Set oFS = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:\\" & strComputer & "\root\sms")
    If Err.Number <> 0 Then
    WScript.Echo "Cannot connect to WMI"
    WScript.Echo vbTab & "Error " & Err.Number & " - " & Err.Description
    End If
    Set oLog = oFS.OpenTextFile("C:\Temp\SMS_ProvList.log",ForAppending, True)
    If Err.Number <> 0 Then
WScript.Echo "Could not create output file"
    WScript.Echo vbTab & "Error " & Err.Number & " - " & Err.Description
    End If
    Set colItems = objWMIService.ExecQuery("SELECT * FROM SMS_ProviderLocation",,48)
    count = 0
    For Each objItem in colItems
        count = count + 1
        oLog.WriteLine "-----------------------------------"
        oLog.WriteLine Now()
        oLog.WriteLine "Provider instance " & count &  " : " & objItem.Machine
        oLog.WriteLine "NamespacePath : " & objItem.NamespacePath
        oLog.WriteLine ""
    Next
I have a test environment which has also gone through some growth over its lifetime and has had the same changes to SMS Providers made.  When I first attempted to install SCCM 2012 R2 CU4 in this test environment the installer continually failed the
prerequisite checker when querying the CU level of the SMS Providers.  The only way that I could get past that issue was by running a site maintenance task via the CM installer and installing an SMS Provider at the location that had previously been an
SMS Provider but I had uninstalled that role.
I do not want to have to do that in my production environment, and would not even be able to do so if I wanted as I have retired one of the servers listed and cannot re-provision that machine.
Any CM12 gurus out there with suggestions?  This strikes me as a standard MS problem when having multiple development teams working on a product/update and not having a standard location to check for configuration information (This is exactly the problem
when configuring DNS suffixes via GPO and not manually setting the GUI to match).
    Thanks!
    Josh Gerner
    Cornell University.

The issue I have is that I cannot find the WMI class that holds the SMS Providers that are returned by the GUI.
I actually engaged MS Premier for a SCCM 2012 RAAS about 2 years ago and that was when the discrepancy first reared it's head.  The support person that I worked with couldn't give me a way of cleaning those entries at that point which is when I started
logging the locations to be sure that my maintenance task was really installing or removing the SMS Providers.

The most important is that you have to inventory the applications that are installed and based on that you have to decided which applications you want to remove. For those applications you can create uninstalls in ConfigMgr.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Cu1: Can I reinstall the Reporting Services Point role without delete or change the SSRS-DB?

Hi, I have some issue with the reports,
Can I reinstall the SCCM Reporting Services Point role without delete or change the SSRS-DB (just reset the SCCM SSRS function)?
I have saved/backup the custom made reports.
    /SaiTech

Yes you can remove and reinstall the Role.  I had to do this recently on our SCCM 2012 R2 due to an issue with the reports not loading.   Found out that the problem with reports was from the upgrade to R2 from 2012 SP1 and was able to run
a command to re-register the reports with WMI.  I actually removed the role, uninstalled reporting services feature from SQL, deleted the report databases, reinstalled the SQL feature, configured the reporting databases again, added the role back, and
    ran the following command.
    mofcomp "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof"
This allowed all my reports to register as they should have and run without errors.  If you are having similar problems, you may be able to just run that command to get reports running without all the extra work I did.  For us we were getting an
invalid Class error in the srsrp.log.

  • Update membership is taking too long to update members in the collection - SCCM 2012 R2 + CU1

    Hi,
We have a standalone primary site server hierarchy (SCCM 2012 R2 + CU1), Not only with this upgrade.starting from the SCCM 2012 SP1, We had an issue that members in the collections are not being updated as expected (like SCCM 2007).
I have created about 20+ query based collections with the normal with the "Full schedule" option but not used "Incremental update" option. Also i have observed that after a day or so..members are appearing.
anyone had solution to this, why this collection update membership in SCCM 2012 is improper?
    Thanks.
    srkr

    Hi Torsten,
We have about 25 machines in each collection, My collection condition is based on the package (Ex:if the package is not installed on the machine, it will appear in the collection to target the package),
WQL query looks good, I have used the same logic for all the collections with different package.
I did not see any error in colleval.log, all the collections are evaluating properly, but I can see .CEP files in COLLEVAL.BOX which has 0 KB size.
    Any Idea?
