SCCM Distribution issue

Hi All,
we have a strange issue here, our primary server is trying to remove some package on a DP which is not existing.
also it is creating n number of files on the DP, please find the below log and help me.
CContentDefinition::RemoveContentFromPackage failed; 0x800700b7
Failed to delete file
\\xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\F$\SCCMContentLib\PkgLib\ABC001D5.INI, error = 5
Failed to move file
\\xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\F$\SCCMContentLib\PkgLib\ABC001D5.INI.0b10c857 to
\\xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx\F$\SCCMContentLib\PkgLib\ABC001D5.INI, error = 183
WritePrivateProfileStringW failed for
\\Xxxxxxxxxxxxx\F$\SCCMContentLib\PkgLib\ABC001D5.INI
ProfileWriteString failed; 0x800700b7
CContentDefinition::RemoveContentFromPackage failed; 0x800700b7
Prashanth Kumar System Center Administrator

Error code 5 = "Access Denied and error code 183 = "Cannot create a file when that file already exists."
Thus, it's trying to delete a file (probably a previous version) and then write the number version but it can't delete the file because its getting access denied which in turn causes it to fail with the second error.
You'll need to figure out why it's getting access denied. In many/most cases I have seen with similar symptoms, this comes down to your AV software and not having the proper exclusions in place.

  • App v package distribution issue to sccm 2012 DP

    Hi,
We are migrating app-v 4.6 packages to sccm 2012 , after importing the packages when we update DP its not copying the dependent scripts inside the appv package to Dp and hence when application launches it fails to launch the vb script.
the script is made to run when shortcut is launched, but no vb script is copied to DP , but I have all files intact in source folder iyt just copies .sprj,xml,osd.
Please suggest how to make all the files in package abcd.001 to get copied in DP.
Does App-v package distribution is different from normal package.
    Thanks
    Shuaib

Open up the app in the sequencer, add the file to your scripts folder. If the script requires to be run elevated, you'll want to use the Deployment config file and use Global publishing....
If you don't need elevation you can use the User Config and won't need to publish globally.
Fore more info and some examples, check this out:

  • SCCM Distribution Manager Failed to access source directory...

    Hi guys....
Im in a desperate position at the moment. I joined a small company  a short while ago as an infrastructure engineer but have never had hands on experience with sccm 2012. The guy I was working with left
at short notice and never had time to show me the system.
I am now trying to image some new systems but for some reason I keep getting the above error message. I have checked share and NTFS permissions and ensured that all the SMS accounts have a minimum of modify
if not full rights including the local administrator account. The drives also have sufficient disk space. I am finding it impossible to update the distribution point (even though the wizards says successful).
Each time i try to run the task from the client I get Failed to run Task sequence, "This task sequence cannot be run because the program files for DI100005 cannot be located on a distribution point."
I have also ensured that Site system installation account is set to
Use the site server's computer account to install the site system
Please can someone point me in the right direction and help me to resolve this issue.
    Many Thanks

    Hi Torsten,
I have checked the log but not really sure what i am looking for. It tells me that a task has filed but not sure why?  Is SMS_Distribution _Manager a generic name used for whatever account its supposed to be using?
Here is a snippet of the log from this morning. If you could please decypher it for me I would be very grateful.

  • Edit download location map SCCM distribution Itunes 10

I would like to distribute Itunes 10 with SCCM to our organisation which has about 1300 workstations. The package that i've created works fine and nothing has to be adjusted, but in the preferences i want that user not pointing to their own my documents folder but to point to a folder on a local drive. This because we don't want all the Music in the my documents folders on the network.
How can i edit these settings for all the users in a simple way?
I'm distributing Itunes 10 on Windows XP machines

    Update:
I fixed the issue with the default XXX00002 package - "Configuration Manager Client Package", it will not deploy to the Secondary Site DP. I did that through "Update Distribution Points" option, and after a while the status was 100%.
However; the second issue is still unsolved...
    Please help..

  • SCCM Package issue

I am currently having issues with a couple of our DP's.  It seems like when out Software Update Package gets to be large (10GB) the distribution point will no longer update it with new bits.  There seems to be no errors in the log that shows why
it stopped sending the updated revision of the package and all I see in the console is that it doesn't have permissions.  But smaller packages work fine.  At this point I can resend the package but it will still not download it.  These DP's
are over an MPLS network so we have a smaller pipe and have rate limits enabled.
I can not find any where if there is a limit to what the package size can be and I haven't be able to find anybody with the same issue.
Has anybody ran into this issue before? What did you do to resolve it?
We are on SCCM 2012 R2.

I've run into problems with large update packages at multiple customers. I always end up breaking them up into smaller packages. For newly setup customers, I always make sure that the packages are setup in way to make them more granular in nature so they
don't get this big in the first place.

  • Distribution issue

Our business is Distribution. some times from our stock we use to send the material to customer and get it replaced by our vendor A for free. The issue is excise invoice. Our Vendor A does not give Excise invoice at the time of free replacement. We tried using a free replacement invoice and using the same excise to take the stock into sap using 511 movement. But, the issue is that cost impact in finance is missing. Could you please suggest an alternative method?

  • SCCM/WSUS issue after importing March CSA patch bundle

Hi, I am having an issue with security patch deployment since Tuesday night.  Debugging is ongoing.  I am running SCCM 2012 CU2.
Coincidentally, the problem appeared shortly after importing the March XP CSA (Custom Support Agreement) patch bundle into SCCM.  From the client end, WUAHandler.log reported continuous failures/retries.  On lower-end machines, system performance
became very poor.  From the server end, starting up the Windows Server Update Services mmc (yes, I know you're not supposed to be doing anything in here, which I'm not) results in a connection error.  The detailed error message is shown further down.
It was difficult to get the client machines to stop "thrashing" per WUAHandler.log.  It wasn't until I de-installed/re-installed WSUS and ASP.NET that things quieted down yesterday afternoon.  All appeared to be stable until this morning
when I  re-added "Windows XP Custom Support" under the SUP Component Properties tab, imported the CSA bundle info, initiated a CAB synchronization from Microsoft, and re-enabled Software Updates on the clients.
Again, I would get the error when starting up the Windows Server Update Services mmc.
I am doing everything again, but this time one step at a time.  My working theory is that there is some kind of corruption caused by the CSA import (this worked just fine up until Feb.).  A few hours ago, Microsoft published a new CSA
patch bundle because a patch was apparently forgotten.  Is it possible that there was some kind of corruption included with the original bundle published on Tuesday?
I will post what I find as a result of my debugging.
    Thanks,
    Nick.
The WSUS administration console was unable to connect to the WSUS Server via the remote API.
Verify that the Update Services service, IIS and SQL are running on the server. If the problem persists, try restarting IIS, SQL, and the Update Services Service.
The WSUS administration console has encountered an unexpected error. This may be a transient error; try restarting the administration console. If this error persists,
Try removing the persisted preferences for the console by deleting the wsus file under %appdata%\Microsoft\MMC\.

Yes, WCM.log showed the same 503 error starting on the Wednesday morning at 2:53am, and I also noticed wsuspool had stopped. My most noticeable symptom was the thrashing of wuahandler.log on the clients, causing poor system performance on machines with 2gb
of memory. Multiple de-installs/re-installs of WSUS failed to clear the issue until we increased the memory setting in IIS.

  • SCCM 2012 - Issue

    Hi All,
Unfortunately one of my collegue deleted the primary server computer account. But with a good back up i have recovered the primary site server back to normal condition. Since then i got some errors throwing up from the console. Please help
    1. Databse Link between Primary server and secondary server is down
    2. Under component status - component manager throws a error (Configuration Manager cannot update the already existing object "cn=SMS-MP-BUL-XXXX.XXXX.NET" in Active Directory (SWAD.NET).). I deleted the object in system management and it has created.
But still i get the same error message

I have recovered secondary site server successfully from primary site server console but I am getting some error below. Need your kind support
    1. I am getting "Configuration Manager cannot create the object "cn=SMS-MP-XXX-XXX.XXXX.NET" in Active Directory (XXX.NET)". I get this error out of 5 secondary site server. I get the above error for 4 secondary site server
    2. "Package Transfer Manager failed to update the package "BUL00002", Version 3 on distribution point". It is asking to check "Site server does not have sufficient rights to the source directory." which it has
    3. I can deploy package from sccm but it is not getting deployed. Is that above affecting it?

  • SCCM 2012 issue with HTTPS

    Hello,
I have been trying to get a new SCCM 2012 environment running and I’ve hit a road block and hope someone can help.
    I have installed SCCM 2012 SP1 w/ CU2 on a Windows 2012 server w/ MS SQL 2012.
When I installed SCCM I chose the PKI option and followed the instructions below to setup all the required certificates.
I have not yet installed any clients until I’ve verified everything is working correctly on the server.
    PKI Setup Followed -> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682023.aspx
    The errors I’m seeing-
Both the Management Point and PORTALWEB are not responding to HTTP requests.
“The http status code and text is 401, Unauthorized.”  I was chalking this up to how I have SCCM setup for HTTP only, but I could be wrong in thinking this.
    If I navigate to either
    https://<ServerName>/sms_mp/.sms_aut?mplist OR
https://<ServerName>/sms_mp/.sms_aut?mpcert I get the error “HTTP Error 403.7 – Forbidden”.

NOTE – “Certificate [Thumbprint xxxx3324]” is the certificate binded to the Default Web Site as instructed in the PKI setup documentation.
    What I have done-
Verified that the web and client certificates have the same and valid trusted root certificate.
Disabled CRL checking on web server.
If I modify the SSL Setting for SMS_MP in IIS to anything other than “Client Certificate: Required” then the 403 error goes away for the MPLIST and MPCERT checks and they are successful.
But this is changing the default setting and I am cautious to do this since it will decrease security.
Also I’m not sure where else would need to be changed and potentially breaking other functionality.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you

Anyone else seen this issue?  Have a possible resolution?  Thanks!
When you use Internet Explorer to test out the Management Point, you will have to ensure that you have installed a
Client Authentication certificate into your Current User certificate store. When Internet Explorer is running under your user account, it will not search for certificates inside the
    Local Computer certificate store.
Go ahead and enroll your user account in a Client Authentication certificate, and then try the request again. Internet Explorer will detect that a
Client Authentication certificate is required for the IIS website, and will prompt you to select the appropriate certificate to use for the request. See the screenshot below for an example.
After selecting the appropriate Client Authentication certificate, the request should succeed, and the XML response you are expecting will be displayed. In my screenshot below, the reason the certificate is not showing as "valid"
in Internet Explorer, is because it uses the Subject Name format that ConfigMgr requires for site system roles that are accessible from Internet
    and Intranet.

  • Form Distribution Issues

I have two related issues regarding the distribution function in Arobat 9.0.
We have an order form with a "submit by email" button on it. Myself and a co-worker, Leon, are responsible for completing that form for each order. I created the form in LiveCycle and with Acrobat 9.0, used the distribution function to send it to Leon and myself. I sent it to automatically collect the data on my own server.
When I take an order and click submit, it doesn't go through the email process, Acrobat just notifies me that the message was sent and the order database is updated with Adobe Tracker. When Leon clicks submit, he has to go to the email process.
Question 1: If I were to, and can I, move the collection folder that I originally set up on my own server to a common server that he and I share, would he be able to then skip the email process?
Question 2: He only has the Adobe Reader 8.0, whereas I have the full program. How does this affect his ability to fully take advantage to the distribution and collection process?
    Thanks!

We have a solution that allows you to do most of what you want, including bulding the form, having people fill it out either in Reader (as an XFA-PDF) or on the iPad (as an HTML form).
You design the form once, and it will by styled correctly on the appropriate platform.

  • Right Click tools for SCCM 2007 issue

We have SCCM 2007 R2 with Right click tools installed (I know this is not a direct SCCM query but linked to it and thought I might try my luck here)
I use the "ConfigMgr Collection Tools - Add Systems to a collection" option within Right click tools a lot
However in the last few days it keeps failing a lot with the following error message
    Line:68
    Char: 5
    Error: Object required: 'objDialogWindow.document.body'
The Addcoll.hta looks like the following
    Line 68: LineobjDialogWindow.document.body.style.fontFamily = "Helvetica"
    Line 69: objDialogWindow.document.body.style.fontSize = "11pt"
    Line 70: objDialogWindow.document.writeln "<html><body>Adding PCs to " & collName.Value & " </body></html>"
    Line 71: objDialogWindow.document.title = "Please wait."
    Line 72: objDialogWindow.document.body.style.backgroundColor = "dodgerblue"
    Line 73: objDialogWindow.document.body.style.borderStyle = "none"
    Line 74: objDialogWindow.document.body.style.marginTop = 15
    Line 75: AddToCollection ComputerList.value, CollID.value, ss.Value, objDialogWindow
    Line 76: objDialogWindow.Close()
    Line 77: self.ResizeTo 400,550
Has anyone had this issue and if so how have you resolved it?

You need to contact the author of the tool and get them to help out. This is not a CM07 issue.
However having said that it look like you are having a problem with the font.

  • SCCM Distribution Slow? BITS disabled, bandwidth unlimited, regular file transfer is fast

    Hello,
I have noticed that when I'm distributing large files (Operating System Images) to our on-site distribution points, the file transfers have been taking a substantial amount of time. Using resource monitor and task manager, the transfer is happening at less
than 100Mb/s on our Gigabit network. However, when I do a normal file transfer between the site server and distribution point using Explorer, the transfer maxes out the connection at 970-987Mb/s.
I have confirmed that BITS is disabled for all my distribution points, maximum threads per package was increased to 500 with no performance increase, and Client Computer Communication under site properties is set to HTTPS or HTTP (distribution points set
    to HTTP).
    Setup:
    Site Server - Server 2012
    3 Distribution Points (On-site) - Server 2012
I did a lot of research online the past few days and didn't find anything relating to my issue, nor any solutions resolving this slow transfer. Is there something I'm not understanding correctly or may I have a setting wrong?

BITS is not used when transferring content to DPs (unless you are using pull DPs).
Have you alreada checked if the transfer to those DPs is throttled (can be found in the properties of each remote DP)?
    Also monitor distmgr.log and pkgtransfermgr.log.
The 'Rate Limits' tab on each distribution point's properties page is set to unlimited. The only thing I can think of is the environment was setup in our old building (just built a new headquarters) on a 100Mbit connection, but the new building now has gigabit.
distmgr.log and pkgtransfermgr.log doesn't really give me any indicators of what would be causing it to be slow. :\
Should I open a premiere ticket?

  • SCCM Distribution Point Failures

I have 16 DP's in Config manager all were working last week. Now only 2 are allowing content. The error message states:
Possible cause: Distribution Manager does not have sufficient rights to the computer.
Solution: Verify that the site server computer account is an admin on the distribution point computer.
I have done all this. As I stated they were all working last week No permission changes have been made. I am stumped.
    J. Mink

Please add details about the issue. Are you talking about distributing content to DPs? Or that clients cannot download content?
Also the log above does not look like it's distmgr.log. "DISM" in distmgr.log does not look familiar to me. Please add some more lines.

  • Post SCCM Installation Issues

After installing SCCM 2012 in our lab, I am finding four critical errors in the Monitoring | System Status | Component Status
    1.  SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER - Availability is unknown and is marked red
    2.  SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER - Availability is online but is marked red
    3.  SMS_SITE_COMPONENT_MANAGER - Component Not Installed by Site Component Manager - Availability is online but marked red
    4.  SMS_NOTIFICATION_SERVER - Availability is unknown and is marked red.
Anyone can offer how to resolve the critical issues ???  Many thanks in advance.
