Schedule for sleep and wake up

I have been building up my PowerMac G5 running Leopard Server 10.5.8 to do file sharing across my home network, and i would like to figure out a way to schedule the computer to go to sleep at night, then wake itself up in the morning. I saw that there's a product called Power Manager for the Intel-based computers, but is there something that can do this for PPCs?

You should be able to do that in System Preferences > Energy Saver > Schedule.

Sorry, but if you see the "connect to iTunes" screen on your phone, the only option is to restore, backing up the phone is not possible at this point, even importing the photos might not work anymore.

  • ITunes can't connect to Apple TV sometimes after sleep and wake up

    Hi!
There are any issues to find in the discussions depending on problems between the ATV and iTunes but no solution helps me to solve the following problem till now.
I am using a Mac mini (middle 2011) as a central storage for multimedia data. The exact description of the network can you find further down.
The problem is that iTunes sometimes can't connect to the Apple Tv via Airplay. There is a window open what tells me that iTunes try to connect to ATV. But it doesn't work.
After determine iTunes completely (normal closing doesn't work because of that open window) and restart it, it will work probably.
Itunes is connecting to ATV via Airplay immediately.
Sometimes it works for any days with a view sleep and wake up procedures. Sometimes the problem appears while I'm listen to music after any minutes of starting.
I send the mini and the ATV to sleep with the remote of the ATV or let it go to sleep alone. To wake up ATV and mini I push a button on the remote.
Following components are working in my network:
    - router FritzBox 7390 from AVM (2,4 and 5 GhZ at the same time)
    - Mac mini (middle 2011) connected via Wlan
    - two Airport Express with connected loudspeakers in various rooms (Wlan)
    - Apple TV (third generation) connected with home cinema via HDMI and with the network via Wlan
    - Telekom entertain setbox for TV connected via LAN over Wlan bridge
I have tried to use the whole system with an Airport Extrem as router for wlan but the problem was the same.
I suppose it could be a problem with DHCP Lease or the Bonjour? What can I do?
Last but not least...the devices have installed the newest firmware or software versions.
    Thanks a lot for support!
    Norman

i bit the bullet and re-associated library on ATV. On atv, setting/computers; current library was grayed out, clicking creates a warning that all media on ATV will be lost, it takes its time to earase the disk, then an option to connect to itunes becomes available just like fresh setup. ATV produced a code to enter into itunes. itunes complained that it cannot communicate on port 3689; googleupdate.exe was using this port; disabled googleupdate; rebooted everything for good measure. so now i'm waiting for 100GB of home movies and music to sync to ATV (thanks apple!). one thing that got me stumbled - when ATV showed up, there were not tabs for music, movies, podcast, etc, only settings and photos; solution: deselect 'automatic sync' by selecting 'custom sync' in the settings tab.

  • Why won't the sleep and wake button work

the sleep and wake button has stopped working.

If you have Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution. If you would like to try perfect Virtual Button, tap Settings App > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch > ON > tap new white screen button > Device > Lock. You can even turn iPhone OFF with this button. To turn iPhone ON, connect iPhone to power ie charger or USB of computer.

    I can't understand you.
    1. What sleep/wake button are u talking about? You mean the power button? Sleep/wake is a function, not a button, which works for covers that supports it.
2.You press home button to RESTART ipad?? what home button? the one at the bottom of the screen or at the top?

  • OS X 10.7.3 WiFi Update for iMacs and Wake from Sleep Problem

    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1501
Apple has released a software update for those suffering from the iMac wake from sleep/wifi connection issue that resulted from updating to 10.7.3. It fixes the problem for me and several others. For those still suffering this issue, download it and see how it works!

To answer my own question it seems a workaround is to wake the iMac up using the power button rather than the keyboard. The WiFi reconnects this way.

  • Scripting sleep and wake-up

Until Parallels gets rid of the requirement to make the MacPro sleep and be re-awakened before running Parallels to its fullest extent, has anyone put together a script that would cause the machine to automatically sleep for 10 seconds or so and then wake back up whenever the machine is started. CAN a script wake up a sleeping machine?
    MacBook Pro 2.0 MacPro 2.66   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Yes, A reminder would be simple, but I already get that when I attempt to open Parallels without first putting the machine for sleep for a while.
    Thus the initial question...
Can a script wake a sleeping machine, and if so, does anyone have one that could run automatically to put the machine to sleep for about 10 seconds, then wake it back up?

  • Interesting Sleep and Wake problem

For about a month I have found that the Macbook pro (2008) Osx10.7 doesn't seem to sleep when the cover closed with the power cord attached. The sleep light doesn't pulsate and it remains warm. When i open it up the log in screen flashes on, then the screen goes dark and I can't log in. I found myself doing forced restarts - then i disconnected the power cord and the log in screen magically reappeared.
It seems I need to disconnect the power cord wehn closing the lid, and if I forget to do that I need to disconnect when reopening the lid in order to log in.
I have tried resetting all the power settings to default, but it still does that.
Not a major problem, but puzzling.

The problem isn't so much that it won't sleep or wake. It does seem to do both more or less, but that if the power cord is connected it doesn't fully sleep (the LED doesn't blink) and that waking results in the login screen flashing on momentarily followed by a black screen which requires either a forced reboot or simply unplugging the power cord. Once the power cord is unplugged then logging in is easy as the screen recovers.
My question is why is this happening? Some new feature of lion? It has only been going on a few weeks.
It was quite troublesome until I figured out I could resolve the problem by unplugging the power cord, but I remain mystified as to why it happens.

  • Unix calls to sleep and wake

i understand that i can get a computer to sleep using applescript.
osascript -e 'tell application "Finder" to sleep'
is there anything that i can do to wake a sleeping computer?
    thanks!

That's not a Unix call, but close. It's an Apple Script as you note.
How do you want to wake it up? If you choose wake on Lan, you can wake it up from another computer. You can set a time in preferences to wake it up.
You can probably write a script to note when it went to sleep and use iCal to wake it up.
You might be better posting in the script forum for these things -

  • Sleep and wake up question

It's no easy to recognise is new Air is sleeping or not, because there is no sleep light.
I see interesting difference on wake up process for two cases:
    1. System Preferences - Energy Saver - Computer Sleep = 1 minute
    - I wait more than 1 minute and computer is looking like sleep. Maybe no?!
    - To wake up it I can swipe touchpad or gently touch.
    2. Pressing power button and click Sleep
    - Computer is looking like sleep.
    - To wake up it I should press touchpad (swipe or gently touch doesn't wake up).
    Questions:
    1. Is wake up process normal for case #1? Is computer sleeping if to wake up touchpad swipe enough?
    2. Why there is difference for wake up process for case #1 and #2?
    A lot of thanks!

    Hi,
Case one is for putting display to sleep only. The cpu will still running and your program like VLC will keep running.
As for case two is real sleep, meaning your cup will sleep and all your progaram will stop running.
Go to system preferenc-->expose and spaces-->expose-->active screen corners-->choose one of the drop down menu and you'll see put display to sleep.
    Cheers.

  • Display repeatedly sleeps and wakes - Geforce FX 5200 DVI

    Hi There
    I own a G4 powermac Quicksilver (733MHz) 10.4.11.
For a long time I have been using an old mitsubishi 17" monitor alongside my powermacs standard 32mb VGA graphics card.
Recently I decided to buy a 20" Apple Cinema Display and a new Nvidia GeForce FX5200 256mb (DVI and VGA) graphics card which would apparently work with my g4 and the display.
I installed the graphics card firstly using it with my VGA monitor and everything appeared to work fine. I later tried it with my new apple display and everything was working at first but after about a minute of being on the display started repeatedly sleeping and waking constantly.
Now this is all that happens when I turn on my g4.
I thought it could possibly be a driver issue but I don't no were to look?
Does anyone have any ideas what I could do?
    Thanks
    Freddie

Yes, I am sure it's the same hardware (unless someone snuck into my office and made a switch) Musta been a full moon or something but at least I have a witness.
So what would be the cheapest VC upgrade that would permanantly reinstate the rotation.
    Thanks for your imput

  • Schedule for Maintenance and Support

When do you expect to be at a point where you set product price and maintenance cost?
Also, I assume that you will give existing MATRIXx customers a 'grace period' during which we can secure funds to resume paying for maintenance and support, right? I would expect something like 90 to 120 days in the grace period.
    Thanks.

    Michael -
We are currently finalizing our price list, which will include product prices, maintenance, and all of NI's policies concerning maintenance and support.
When this list is complete, it will be posted to ni.com/matrixx. Please check back for that information and all other updates, as they will be posted there as well. You can anticipate the new price list within the next two weeks.

  • Is there a fix for Mountain Lion audio output settings after the laptop goes to sleep and wakes back up?

Mac Book Pro running Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.5 after the notebook sleeps audio and video does work (for example on YouTube).  I have been able to temporarily work around this by toggling the settings on Built-in Output in Audio Midi Setup, Audio window between 2ch-20bit Integer and 2ch-24bit Integer.  But this is a temporary fix until the laptop sleeps again.
When it's not working, all system sounds (emails "dings", delete file "swish", etc.) are silenced, and video playbacks on YouTube and elsewhere freeze and have no audio until the Audio Output settings are toggled then they all immediately start working.
Has anyone encountered the same?  Have a long term fix for this annoyance?
I cannot upgrade the OS to 10.9 Mavericks yet because of a corporate policy - there is some conflict with 10.9 and our corporate VPN connection.
