Scheduled report to run only if not blank

Hi,
I would like to schedule a report that captures changes to specific fields in my database, sending me an e-mail notification of what has happened. Some days there are no changes, and then I would like to stop the schedule from running, or more correctly, I would like not to recieve an e-mail.
I have done similar schedules before, where I have solved this by including a formula like "1/ record count" in my report. If there are no records the report would fail (division by zero) and the schedule would not send a mail.
For some reason I can't make this work now, but I am thinking there must be a better way?

It sounds like record count is not zero... Maybe NULL? Try this (basic syntax):
dim div0 as number
if isnull(RecordNumber) or (Record_number < 1) then
div0 = div0 / div0

How do I schedule the Oracle Reports to run only weekdays (Mon - Fri)?

I am using the Oracle Reports Server to schedule the report.
I have successfully been able to schedule my report to run every day (Monday - Sunday), but the customer does not want it creating an empty report on Saturdays and Sundays. I have tried at least 50 different &schedule= commands and none of them work.
Someone here suggested that to use WEEKDAYS that the DBAs have to set something up in the Oracle Report Server, however our DBAs do not know of anything that they have to do.

If you have monday to friday these would be 5 weekly jobs for every day.

Dynamic date parameters for a scheduled report that runs every day

I have a report that has input parameters for a start date and
end date. The report will be scheduled to run once a day at a
scheduled time. I need the report to automatically set the start
date and end dates when the report runs at the scheduled time.
When the report runs at the scheduled time, the end date needs
to be set to that time and the start date needs to be set to 24
hrs before the end date. I want the start and end dates to roll
forward automatically when the scheduled report runs each day. I
don't want any user intervention to change the start and end
dates every day. How can I do this in a report ?
Also, since the report is scheduled to run each day, I want the
output to be saved to a unique file name each time the report is
run as each day's report will report on the data only for that
day. How can I get the report to save to a unique file name
automatically each day ? Again, I don't want any user
intervention where they would set the output file name manually.

Try adding the following in the beforereport or beforepform
trigger, before the RETURN clause (TRUNC gets rid of the time
component of the date):
:p_date_from := TRUNC(sysdate) - 1;
:p_date_to := TRUNC(sysdate);
:desname := 'REPORT'||TO_CHAR(sysdate, 'DDMMYYYY')||'.txt'

Schedule report re-runs when opening

Hi,
I have a scheduled discover report in Discoverer 4.1.48 version, when opening that scheduled report its re-run the query again.
Please let me know, the reason.

One of the reasons for this happening is that the query could be a fan trap. Discoverer will nearly always tell you that the results are invalid and suggest a rerun when there is a fan trap.
This was recognised as a bug but was only corrected in the 10.1.2.2 release of Discoverer. Many other scheduling bugs were fixed in this and subsequent releases. Have you considered upgrading?

I want the Inventory Audit Report to run automatically daily (and thereby update the Last Evaluated Price).
I know the report scheduler can schedule reports for user queries, but I need this out-of-the-box B1 report to run automatically with a predefined schedule.

Report to run only after prompt selection

Hi all,
we are using obiee 11.1.13, We have a required prompt (with property require user input checked), only after selecting the prompt the report should run, how do we make this work.

Hi Sreekanth,
Don't create the prompt separately. Instead create the prompt while creating the report itself (Third tab in the Create report section) . Then add this report to dashboard. Make the default selection of the prompt "None" and "Enable User Input required". Try this and let me know.

Export report Excel-Data Only works not,'not enough memory for operation'

Hi all,
we are using in our Software CrystalReport Version 11 Service Pack 5. Crystal report is intergated for .NET. We can not uninstall CrystalReport Version 11 Service Pack 5 to install another Version or another Service Pack.
We are haveing problems to export report as Excel 97-2000 Data Only, "not enough memory for operation" message pop up after you try to export report as Excel data Only.
Export Report as PDF is working fine.
This problems are on Windows XP Sp3 and Vista. On Windows 7 we have no problem.
Please, can somebody help me solving this problem, or to finde a workaround for Windows XP. Memory from PC is not the problem.

Without phone support, you are left to do most of the foot work your self. On the forums, we can provide suggestions and guidance, but that is about it.
Couple of things to note though. If you do create a phone case, one of the 1st things that you will be asked is to update your app to SP6 - unless you can prove the same issue exists with SP6 (see more bellow).
Something I would recommend you try is to take an XP box, install SP6 on it, then install your app on it. If this works, your options are highly limited. E.g.; SP6...
One other utility that may be worthwhile to use is [Process Monitor|http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx]. Run that on the XP box. In the logs, look for "Access Denied" error messages. Look for load or other issues with crxf_xls.dll, exportmodeller.dll and crtslv.dll.
From your responses I am still not sure if you actually did run Modules and compared the results. This is much, much easier to do than working with ProcMon and I'd start there. To summarize, my troubleshooting plan (irrespective of the limits imposed on you) would be:
1) Use Modules as this is the easiest thing you can do
2) Try this with SP6 - more work that (1) above, but at least you are on the latest. If this works, banging your head into an SP5 wall will do you no good (like I said, irrespective of what ever limits...)
3) Use ProcMon - not too difficult, but time consuming as you will be looking over 100s, possibly 1000s of lines and not being familiar with details of CR, this will take time.

Conversion from Reports 3.0 to Reports 9i: Runs but can not print.

I have a report (not too complex) created in 3.0. I opened it in Reports 9i and it run without error. When I attemped to print the following message came up:

Yes you need to install 6.0 or 6i as intermidiary in order to run your report successfully on 9i platform. This just recently happend with me.

Does UCCX 8.5.1 Historical Reporting Client run only with admin rights?

I installed UCCX 8.5.1 Historical Reporting Client on a Windows Vista machine. When I try to open it as a regular user, it gives me an error message "Unexpected error: Quitting". I can only open it when I log into the machine as administrator. Does anyone know this is the normal behaviour? If so, then every supervisor of my contact center will need to have admin rights in the computer?

The Historical Reports client uses Windows's secondary logon service. It uses this to run
the software with the CiscoHistRptUsr when the agent or supervisor is logged into the PC
with their own account. This is the service that gives you the Run As option when you
right click on executables. Check to see if they have this ability on the PC, and make
sure the "Secondary Logon" service shows as Started in the Windows services (Run -->
Services.msc)"
So, on one of the PCs with the issue, look for Secondary Login: Start >Settings >
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. Scroll down to Secondary Logon and
verify that this service is started.
Also, if the service is running, please look for the application, right click on it and
select "Run as Administrator"

Scheduling iBots to run only on weekdays

First time poster here, and I'm relatively new to iBots...
I'm trying to figure out how to schedule an iBot to run "daily", but actually not on weekends, just Monday through Friday. Better yet would be Tuesday through Saturday, but I can work with the former if need be. Aside from creating five weekly iBots on each of the five days of the week I wish the iBot to fire on, I cannot figure out how to do this. Taking any and all ideas... :)

Wow. I'm half embarrassed for me for not doing the minimal exploring of scheduling options to find this, and half embarrassed for Oracle for putting this functionality under "weekly" scheduling. :)

Scheduled report with sub-reports (Encapsulating page failed).

Hello Everyone
I am fairly new to reporting and SAP.
I do have a main schedule report containing 4 sub-reports in the sections and 1 sub-report in the page header.
The report runs fine in the Infoview development folder, But whenever its deployed in system_testing folder, it doesn't open and gives the following error:
"ERROR IN FILE XXX:Encapsulating page failed."
I talked to DBA to change the permission for the user, but they don't agree. since its a scheduled report, user can only access the instance of the report, not to run it.
How can I make sure that the sub-reports don't run when user opens the report.

We have been facing the "Encapsulating page failed " error sporadic in our Crystal reports. It is not happening always.
We have tried with different user accounts, it did not help much. Also tried various suggestion from the following SAP Notes:
1536964 - Encapsulating page failed - The error change to Database error when the preference is changes
1211088 - Error message "Encapsulating Page Failed" - This is not the case with our reports, we still have some reports facing the same error without an subreports in it
1543412 - Infoview warning: "Error in File xxx : Encapsulating page failed - tried implementing the recommendation , but no help
1900672 - Error: Encapsulating page failed while viewing Crystal Reports based on stored procedures in BOXI 3.1 -- Our reports are not based on stored procedures.
We have faced this error in many different version of BOXI 3.1 like SP4.1, SP7.1, SP7.2. But the behaviour is similar. We have a clustered machine with 2 BOE servers and 2 Tomcat servers.
I have tried activating E2E tracing, but I really couldn't understand the reason for error from the logs. Our reports connect to datasource using webservices.

Trigger a report to run after dataloads are completed for 2 separate cubes

Hello,
Can someone please suggest how to accompish the following:
I have a report built on a multiprovider that contains 2 infocubes.
I would like to trigger the report to run only after dataloads for both of the cubes been completed.
I am using BI 7.0
Previously we were on 3.5 and was able to use event collector to do this. Event collector is not available in 7.0 anymore.

Have you thought of using information brodacasting and scheduling the chain using the process type - Trigger event on data change).

If the two cubes are loaded in the same chain, then you could have an AND process type after the two DTP's/IP's and trigger the event after the successful completion of the loading of both.
In information broadcasting you can define the broadcast setting of the query to execute when the event of data change is triggered by the process chain.
If the two cubes are loaded in two different chains, then you may need to use a custom ABAP program , which updates a table regarding the successful completion of load of a particular cube and you have to check after the load of one cube, if the other has completed ( by checking the table in ABAP) and then use the process type, trigger data change event.

Issue with SAP Single Sign-On and Scheduling Reports

We are on XI 3.1 with SAP BW and SSO. Some users are getting failures with this error message when they schedule a report to run:
"A database error occured. The database error text is: Unable to connect to SAP BW server System received an expired SSO ticket. (WIS 10901)."
It SEEMS as though the users are fine if they schedule the report to run immediately and have it run every hour (or less) after that. If they schedule it to run several hours from the time they are in the system, however, it looks like they begin getting failures around 8 hours after they were in the system. This would make sense from looking at the "InfoView and Central Management Console Session Management" document (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/405547f9-b840-2b10-44b5-8e17ff9e48a9&overridelayout=true) since a logon token expires after 8 hours, but since it is a scheduled report, and the user is not logged in through a browser, how is a token being passed? Is it captured and included when the report is scheduled? Would disabling logon tokens fix this issue? How is authentication handled here if they are disabled?

I am facing the exact same error.
However, we are not trying to schedule the WEBI report.
The user gets this error even when he is running on demand from the portal.
Here are the various steps tha twe have tried and still it doesnt work:
1) Refreshed and created new Universe connection
2) Bounced BOE server
3) Synced up the SSO timeout ticket to 8 hrs on all systems including BOE
4) Changed browsers
5) Removed cache, cookies etc
Please help.

Ihave a scheduled report that runs perfectly in most instances, however I am seeing the following eror message when a particular parameter is seected:
Error in File D:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\Data\procSched\BWAQTSREP-1.reportjobserver\~tmp1d945a07834566a.rpt: Operation not yet implemented.
Any ideas on what this means, and how to resolve?

Hi Ramesh,
you have to Login into the SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com. But you need a S-User to do so.
You can request your S-User on the top right of the Website.
